1. The audience my media product was initially aimed at were fashionably aware and
orientated males who like underground and popular music. But whilst I was within the
process of producing my magazine I continuously made sure I was aiming my
product at people who are into RAP/HIP-HOP, R&B and also SOUL music, bearing in
mind that my age grouping was 16-27 years old. The age was a rough stopping
point to aim my magazine because you don’t categorically have to be young to
buy my product. People may still have passion for a genre of music beyond 27 years
old. The same goes for the age limit of 16 year old, kids younger may enjoy and love
my chosen music genres so my magazine wouldn’t exclude anyone younger either,
as there is no explicit content.
The younger population would be part of my audience also because of the bright
colours, larger fonts and bold images I have used on my product. Other people
which would be part of my audience are music journalists and magazine critics. This
could be men or women ages over 27 years old looking for a good music magazine.
My magazine is predominantly aimed towards the male population but due to the
soft colours and editing used; it leaves the door open for females to access my
magazine to. My colour scheme features; light blue, black, white and cream. Blue is
a colour associated with boys but sky blue colours, similar to the shades of blue I
have used can be neutral like the colours cream and white.
Overall I think my audience for my media product would mainly be teenagers to
adults in mid-twenties of all ethnicities as my product is considerably neutral with the
colours and text used but also with a mixed ethnicity model in the lime light.
