- The CPWF Volta basin team focus on institutional and technical mechanisms to develop, maintain and sustain small reservoirs and other rainwater management approaches to improve the livelihoods of the poor in the dry‐lands of Burkina Faso and Northern Ghana, taking into ac‐count implications for downstream users. The aim is to improve the resilience and livelihoods of the people and ecosystems
- The Volta basin program composed of five interrelated projects. One project aims to support scaling up institutional and technical innovations in agricultural water management through spatial analysis and the definition of extrapolation domains. Another project targets the farm and household level and focuses on integrated rainwater management strategies. A third project aims at improving the effectiveness of small reservoir management for multiple purposes. A fourth project takes a broad view at the sub-basin scales and seeks to understand and informs sub-basin level dialogue and decision-making on water governance. The fifth project ensures coherence among all the projects and aligns the whole research to stakeholders’ needs for impact.
