time. In other words, climate change includes
major changes in temperature, precipitation,
or wind patterns, among other effects, that
occur over several decades or longer.

reaching effects on Pakistan.
• recurrent spells of extreme weather events such
as floods, droughts, glacial lake outbursts,
cyclones, and heat waves have taken a heavy toll
on both life and property and adversely affected
the country’s economic growth.
• Pakistan makes a tiny contribution to total global
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, less than 1%
(among the lowest in the world)
