2. How have your technical skills developed since
the beginning of the year?
I learnt how to hold the camera still to avoid
shaky camera work. At the beginning of the year
I was not comfortable using final cut pro
however now I developed better understanding
of the programme such as using short cuts for
quicker editing (A for arrow, B for blade).
3. What did you learn about continuity
editing?
I learnt how to edit clips together so the action
flows. When you are filming you need to make
sure you film every bit of the action because
when you come to editing the clips the clips
have to match and look as though it has been
taken in one shot. I also learnt that continuity
editing requires a lot of attention as you need to
make sure all the action matches and flows so it
make sense.
4. What was your contribution?
I filmed all the action and edited all the clips
together using final cut pro. I also researched
similar clips to help produce our final piece.
5. What were the difficulties in this task?
The main difficulty was the fact that we had no
actors as we started late. We had to plan and
prepare within thirty minutes which meant we
had to settle with what he had. Due to this we
had to use a member from our group as the
actor even though we wanted a child to portray
our message. However, when we went to film in
the park, because our actor was Suhena she
could not use some of the climbing frame
properly as she was too tall.
6. How has this helped you prepare for
next year?
This has helped me as I can now comfortably
edit clips together in order to show continuity.
Also, I learnt the Importance of preparation
beforehand so your work is complete on time
and up to your standard. Therefore next year I
will prepare everything in detail so my work is
up to my highest standards.
7. What steps will you now take to ensure
you make progress in your year 13 practical
task?
I will ensure I discuss everything with my group
members so we all agree on same ideas. Also, I
will plan everything in detail so members from
my group will have a detailed understanding of
what we want to achieve.
