2. What Went Well?
With the preliminary, I thought each shot was filmed
steadily with the zooming and the camera was at an
appropriate distance. I think the backing sound beating
supports the filming well, creating a tense atmosphere.
Overall, the scenes put together have formed a smooth
clip and the editing was used well.
The filming was also very relevant with our pictures we
took of the setting we wanted. I think the planning, the
photos and the final preliminary all linked together
well.
3. What could we improve?
I think we could have spent more time on the task,
editing and showing more skills into the video. I
think we could have used more variety of camera
angles and distances to improve our task. I think
our continuity and how smooth the scenes
switched could be improved using more transitions.
We could have planned what we were going to do
in more detail so when we finally come to do it, we
don’t waste time sorting it out. Our organisational
skills and preparation is our main aim for when we
start our final thriller opening.
4. What we learnt from the experience?
I learnt a lot by this preliminary because its
putting basic skills into practice and working on
how we produce something together. I definitely
learnt a lot with working with the cameras and
then editing the clips. I found zooming and
holding the camera steady difficult but I put this
into practice. When working with iMovie I was
able to practice with the different editing tools
and play with the software properly to build up
skills for editing our final.
5. What were my strengths?
I feel my strengths were contributing ideas for
the task and drawing these out in a story board
and figure out our camera angles and timing. I
can imagine the storyboard well in my head so
when we come to filming I know where the
shots should be taken. I also helped with filming
and editing the clips. As well as taking part in
the dialogue in the clips.
6. What were my weaknesses?
I find it difficult to zoom in slowly and smoothly
with the camera on the tri-pods. I would
definitely like to work on more with my filming
skills.
7. How did the group perform as a
whole?
As a whole, I think our group performed really
well because everyone in the group contributed
evenly. Everyone took on a role and helped each
other out. Our ideas put together are good, but I
think we need to do more preparation and go
into more detail of what we are going to do in
order to accomplish it.
