1. Organisation
With the preliminary task, there was not loads to do so it was not hard to keep
up with what we had done and what we hadn’t. But this wasn’t so easy with
our final task, so on my phone, I searched ‘to do list’ and found a good app
that kept me up to date with what I did and didn’t need to do. It also reminded
me of the deadline for each task. I found this very helpful in helping me
complete all my tasks.
2. Mise en Scene and Camera Work
• We feel that the camera work improved vastly but the range of shots
decreased. This is because we wanted to concentrate more on the
shots used in the films of the same genre as ours.
• We also thought that the mise en scene had improved greatly from
the preliminary. This is mostly because the preliminary didn’t require
many props or certain lighting. Also, we did this at school so we had
to make do with what was there.
• The final task was much more complex and needed many more props.
We had more access to different things and more time was put into
the planning.
3. Setting and costumes
• The setting in our preliminary task was just a basic school corridor and
school classroom. This is because the task was set to do at school so we
had no other choice but to use the facilities available.
• So, in the final task, we put serious thought into where we were going to
film. This was important to create the mood and we needed to choose
somewhere suitable.
• The costume in the preliminary was just what we were wearing that day
but then we had a few problems and Jacob ended up wearing two different
things in our preliminary.
• Therefore, we thought it was important to plan the costume so it was
suitable and we could recreate it if we had any problems and needed to
film again.. Which we did.
4. Planning
• We really didn’t plan at all in the preliminary because we didn’t see it
as necessary seeing as it was just a practise for the final task.
• So, in the final task we decided we needed to plan plan plan! This
aided us in creating the perfect film opening and keep everything
running as smoothly as possible.
• We did run in to a few problems but.. Even the best planning can see
problems.
5. Finally…
• Finally, looking back at the preliminary, I can clearly see the
improvements between now and then.
• The preliminary did not require such extensive planning and thought,
whereas the final product required very much.
• Therefore, we feel we did better in the final task through problems
that occurred in the preliminary.
• If we did not do the preliminary, we probably would have seen more
problems in our final task and it would have been 10 times more
difficult to complete the task to the standard it is.
