As you can see these music videos consist of girls who are
wearing nighties. Their nighties are bright and some nighties
have animal imprints on them which portrays the girls as being
girlie, cute and innocent. The costumes links in with the location
of the music video as they are in a bedroom and are having a
sleepover which has connotations of happiness, fun and
excitement. Therefore, using this research we have decided that
our actors in our music video will also be wearing onsies to
reflect their personality as being childish.
The studio scenes in a music video tend to have artists
wearing shiny, colourful, short clothes to make them
the center of attention and in a way to sell the artists.
Each artist is wearing clothes which make them look
appealing and attractive. Using this research we have
decided that our artist should also wear a bright, short
dress to conform to the conventions of a pop music
video. This will enable the audience to distinguish
between the other actors and the artist.
Most artists wear bright, casual, revealing clothes on their music
videos. Some bands consists of more than one artists and each of the
artist have their own personality as this is portrayed through their
costumes. For example, little mix consist of 4 artists and in their music
video ‘Wings’ they are all wearing different clothes which illustrates
each of their personality, as one being really girlie and another being
less girlie. Using this research, we thought that our actors, and artist
could wear clothes which conveys their personality and to suit our
pop genre. Bearing in my mind that the artist should stand out from
the others. We decided that they should wear casual clothes in the
third scene, which is in a shopping center having fun and enjoying
themselves which matches our lyrics.
Overall, we have noticed that pop music
videos tend to have their artists
wearing bright, bold lipsticks to suit the
genre and to sexualise the artist, which
is a way to sell the artist. Close ups of
the face allows us to see their flawless
skin and their make-up. They are shown
to be attractive and perfect.
