2. Human Urinary System consists of:
• A pair of bean-shaped organs called Kidneys
--filters blood to remove wastes and produce urine.
• A pair of tubes called Ureters
--carry urine from kidneys to urinary bladder
• An elastic sac called the Urinary Bladder
--holds urine until excretion
• An Urethra
--passes urine from bladder to outside of body
4. Urine Formation
• Arteries branching from the aorta supply
blood to the kidneys.
• Each kidney has a number of tiny,
coiled tubes called nephrons, which
filter out excess water , salts and waste
products like urea.
6. • Useful substances like glucose, amino
acids and so on are absorbed back into
the blood.
• The substances that are not reabsorbed
form a pale yellow liquid called urine.
• Urine is composed of approximately
90-95% water, 5% urea and other
minerals.
7. Kidney stones
• A hard granule of calcium,
phosphate, uric acid and protein.
• Treated with stone dissolving
drugs and surgical removal.
