1. Changes from Rough Cut to Final
Video after feedback from Peers and
Target Audience
2. Before Feedback After Feedback
From our feedback we had mixed opinions of our opening shot. Some said they liked it
whilst other said that it didn’t fit the theme of the whole video. We decided to change the
opening shot to a more emotional shot, to emphasise the male characters isolation. We
also decided to change the fonts of the name of the song and artist. The fonts now show
continuity between the main video and our ancillary tasks. The fonts that we used were
Coolvetica and GeoSansLight.
3. Before Feedback After Feedback
We were also told that the second shot in our music video was far too long. After a team
meeting it was decided that we would insert jump cuts for this shot, as we really liked it but
understood that it was too long. We cut original shot into four individual shots and then
placed three images in-between. These images had transitional fades on them to make
them flow with the original shot.
4. Before Feedback After Feedback
We were also told that our video got quite boring with just the one band shot of our artist
singing. We wanted to form continuity within our video so we decided that we would re-
shoot certain parts of the song, but maintained the continuity by making sure that our
artist was wearing the same shirt, even though we filmed it 3 months later. I believe that
this works so much better than our original video as it makes it less boring for the
audience.
5. Before Feedback After Feedback
We were also told that as the song that we had chosen was mainly acoustic, we should
have shots of an acoustic guitar. Even though it was difficult to organise another time to
film these band shots, I believe that it was defiantly worth the effort. These guitar shots
mean that the audience won’t get bored with the video if there is continuously the same
shot. The shots that we have chosen fit in well with the music video and make it more
suitable for the target audience and genre.
6. Before Feedback After Feedback
Even though this was one of the smaller changes that we made with our video, it still
makes it considerably better. We were told by a member of the target audience that to
understand the storyline better, the viewer should be able to read the text message that
was being sent. We decided as a group that we would zoom in on the phone to make sure
that the viewer could read the message. I believe that the narrative flows better, now that
the audience can read the message.
7. Before Feedback After Feedback
Again another small change but I think that this makes a clear difference to the video. We
had made a small mistake by making the this shot greyscale instead of being colour. We
changed this shot so that it was no longer greyscale. This change means that the storyline
fits far better than what it did previously.
8. Before Feedback After Feedback
After our feedback we decided to make a slight change in the credits of our video. We
wanted to make it clear that the song was ‘OUT NOW’, as this wasn’t said in the rough cut.
It was also decided that we would change the second line of the credits and remove the
word ‘official’ and replaced it with ‘latest’. This makes the video seem more legit!
