The document discusses feedback received at various stages of creating a music video. For the initial treatment, the audience felt the ideas were not conveyed clearly enough. They suggested preparing in advance for scenes involving a car. For the rough cut, they liked the camera angles, locations, and performances, but one person felt the car scene did not fit. The group edited it based on this feedback. For the final video, comments praised the dancing, editing, photography, locations, and how it conveyed the song's message, though one felt the actress could be more enthusiastic. Feedback was also received for print products like the CD cover and advert, helping refine the designs.
2. Music video treatment
We presented our ideas to the class, at first we weren’t to sure on whether we
wanted a narrative or a performance based video. Our presentation wasn’t very
detailed so we did not get our ideas across very well it was not specific enough we
did not include all of our ideas this was a clear problem when we presented it to the
class. We were advised to create another treatment which we did . The audience
though it was a bit ambitious to use a car so they suggested that we prepare in
advance and make sure we are organised. We took this into account and made sure
the car was available weeks in advance. An idea was suggested that we use
another female actress in the video, however as we wanted a performance based
video with the artists we decided to stick to one actress. After watching Keri Hilsons
pretty girl rock video where she is the main dancer we wanted to go for a similar
idea. Also once we had created the new treatment based off feedback we had a
clear idea of what we wanted to do. Overall the audience like song and the locations
we had in mind.
3. ROUGH CUT SCREENING
For our rough-cut screening we got some really positive feedback fro our audience,
they liked they camera angles location performances, however someone stated
that they didn’t feel like the car scene fitted in with the performance video. After
discussing it further with my group we came to the decision that we would not
remove the car scene completely as it had a direct link to the lyrics. We did edit it
by adding an establishing shot beforehand and also shortening the length of it. The
audience also pointed out that there were minor issues with the lip syncing which
was taken on board and quickly resolved. Overall the rough-cut screening mainly
had positive feedback.
4. final music video
Our final music video was a success we have had a lot of positive feedback. The first was from a YouTube
comment right after we uploaded the video saying that it was an excellent performance also that it has nice
photography dancing ad editing. Which was great to hear as that means that our music video looks professional.
I also asked one of the friends to leave some feedback on YouTube. They stated that they also liked the dancing
and that it flows nicely with the music which is good as we spent a lot of time editing and making sure it was in
sync. They also mentioned that they liked the locations which is good because we made sure that we spent a lot
of time carefully selecting the locations making sure it fitted in with the urban genre. However he felt that the
actress could be a little more enthusiastic. I also sent the link to some of my on WhatsApp most of them loved
the editing and again the locations of choice. Others loved the various use of the camera angles. One of them
also really loved the outfit selection as it fitted in perfectly with the RnB genre all of them stated that the felt the
music went along very nicely wit the video. Also they agreed that we conveyed the message of the song through
the video of the artist being confident and not jealous which is displayed through her body language. Also
through the low camera angles. Also I got positive feedback on the black and white intro it gives a nice slow start
and sets the scene. Which is similar to Beyoncé's broken hearted girl which we were aiming to achieve.
5. Potential cd and advert
We presented our ideas for our cd and advert, our audience liked the idea of the
smoke design but wondered how we were going to be able to create these effects. We
explained that we had used the same idea in our music video we would use a projector
in the TV studio or the photography studio. We used the Prezi to show the audience
our mocks and house styles our colour schemes and fonts. We got positive feedback
on the fonts as they said that it would link in well with the artists image and the genre.
However they did not like the font of the artists name they felt like it was too
complicated, and they suggested that we use a much more simple font. So we minion
pro throughout, which we got really good feedback from later on. We also said that we
were going to use the images that we took from at skate park while we were filming our
video. We go positive feedback as it fitted in with the genre, I was complimented on the
insert booklet of the images, they said that it fitted in nicely. The audience feedback
was useful because it helped my narrow down what I needed to change to make it look
professional.
6. Work in progress- print products feedback
During the process of making my album I got some feedback from my target audience it gave
me a rough idea of what I need to change and what is going well so far. I got feedback on the
colour scheme, the font and the images on the front and back cover. However it was suggested
that I make the font bigger so that it is easier to read. I took the advice and increased my font
slightly so that it is readable.
7. Final print product feedback
For my final print product I went for a simple layout as we didn’t want to over complicate
things. I got inspiration from Tinashe's Aquarius cover over where there is a simple she
also has projected a smoke effect. Her colour scheme is also simple like ours she was
our main inspiration. I got good feedback for my photography as the effects worked out
really well, the projector gave a real life Smokey effect. Also the outfit fitted in really well
as it fitted in with the colour scheme. Her red nails matched with the coloured smoke.
She is also wearing a purple lipstick which goes nicely with the red smoke. Also the
simple layout makes all the font easy to read and it does not clash with the images. I
decided to use an image on the CD because of the fact that the eft panel and the right
panel are just plain smoke so the image fits nicely in the middle. Also the advert was
clear and easy to read it and the album name is in bold. The date is displayed clearly at
the bottom letting the audience know that when its going to be released I got good
feedback on the advert as it looked professional with all the social media at the bottom
