Alec Gerving-Hellman was a Sales Team Leader for the AroundCampus Group from 5/8/2014 until 8/1/2014. Alec’s
optimistic outlook on outside sales allowed for him to achieve personal success throughout the summer. A few of his
strongest assets include his ability to build rapport, communicate with business professionals, and seek out new clientele.
The AroundCampus Group, the nation’s premier publisher of campus directories and student planners, provides a
phenomenal internship program to students from universities across the country. Alec sold and marketed advertising full-
time during the summer in Fargo, North Dakota. Our internship program begins (May 8-14) with a one week nationally
recognized training program in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on the University of North Carolina’s campus. Training is
incredibly hands-on and we cover such topics as advertising/marketing strategy, ethical sales practices, time management,
and professional communication skills.
Transferring these skills to the field, I had the opportunity to ride along with Alec on sales calls, and he demonstrated
excitement to meet new clients, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Alec’s responsibilities included making sales presentations to local businesses on advertising ideas for the Green & Gold
Book. Alec successfully handled objections, efficiently managed a territory, and created advertisements for his customers.
Alec has what it takes to build a strong career for himself, and I highly recommend him for any sales or marketing position.
Alec’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn will bring much success for him in the future. It is people like Alec that you want
