1. Audience Profile
Iโm targeting my magazine at 16-25 year olds, who are interested in the Hip Hop genre. It is targeted
at a young age because Hip Hop is mainly used by the younger generation, then the older
generation. The magazine will be targeted at the lower and middle class social structure, as Hip Hop
is most prominent in this social structure due to the image of rap. Furthermore itโs mainly aimed at
males, as Hip Hop is a male dominated genre for example pop which is mixed genre. However it
does target Hip Hop lovers, who enjoy a good Hip Hop music and they may be female. My magazines
ideology will be to show new and upcoming artist who are the next big thing within the Hip Hop
industry.
Age range
I am targeting 16-25 year olds. I am targeting such as young age range because the Hip Hop genre is
dominated with young rappers, die to Hip Hop being seen as a young man genre not an old man
genre therefore I would target a young people.
Gender
My magazine will predominately be targeting the male genre, rather than the female genre. Due to
Hip Hop being seen as a male genre, I thought it was a must that I target males. If not targeting
females will be very hard, due to the lack of female artist in the industry but also changing the face
of Hip Hop which is seen as hard.
Ethnicity
The magazine will target all races, however it will target black people more than other races due to
Hip Hop being dominated by Black People like Kanye West, Lil Wayne to name a few and these artist
are seen as the face of Hip Hop. Although Iโll try not to discriminate any race, Ill focus more of my
attention on black people as Hip Hop is more prominent with them. Although more of my attention
will be focused on black people, no race will be left out and my magazine with try to be globally
appealing to all races
Social Class
Middle and Lower class will be targeted as Hip Hop is more prominent within these societies due to
views. The Upper class social class is stereotypically posh, and loves everything fancy however Hip
Hop isnโt really fancy or posh; for that reason the middle and lower class people are a more
appropriate class to target as they are more likely to listen to such music as Hip Hop. If I targeted the
Upper Class the target market wont be as big, as the lower or middle class and this will damage the
reputation of the product as no one will purchase the magazine.
2. Type of Person
My magazine will target all people, whether youโre the coolest or not my magazine will hopefully be
targeted at you. The larger amount my people attract, the more sales we make. For example slang
will be used to target kids who are more in with current terminology, and hopefully this will attract
people to our magazine
