3.
Class
My magazine represents the working class and
middle class, because rap is a universal genre,
it has an audience that stretches through all
classes, race’s, ages, gender and sexualities.
More specifically though my magazine
represents the working class as the working
class have a superior interest in the genre and
they are the more die hard fans, so this has
them in mind, and represents them. More
working class fans know about smaller local
artists than the middle class.
4.
Race
The race that my magazine represent is mostly
black, but secondly to that white, and thirdly Asian.
Rap is a universal genre as stated so it represents all
races, it’s not divided. You have black, white, Asian
and Chinese rappers and they all are successful so
my magazine doesn’t discriminate. It represents all
races, predominantly black though as they are the
majority of listeners. My magazine conforms to HipHop’s stereotypes because I have a black man on the
front cover, which is quite conventional in hip hops
magazine even though it’s a very multi-cultural
genre.
5.
Age
My magazine follows the stereotype and represents
the younger population, mostly the teenagers but
the young adults too. The reason for this is because
my main features are young adults under 25 and
teenagers, and these are the kind of artists my
magazine will target. Although my magazine is for
the young population, I will not alienate from the
older males and females who might be interested,
and to make my magazine suit all I have added a
features from old school gangster-rap artists such as
Dr. Dre, Late 90s artists like Eminem, and early
2000s artists like 50 cent. These are some of the
biggest rappers known and will create an intertexual
reference to the young and older population.
6.
My magazine represents males a lot more than
women purely because Hip-Hop has more male
fans, and they are the fans that will buy my
magazine, also most artists are male when it comes
to Hip-Hop. Although the genre is predominantly
male, it doesn’t mean women will be alienated.
Women are just as important as consumers as males,
as a lot of women do have an interest in the
magazine, and the genre.
My magazine conforms to the stereotype that HipHop is a male dominated genre, as there are no
female artists featured on my magazine, this may
Gender
7. Sexuality
The main sexuality my magazine portraits is
heterosexuality, this is because most my
features are of straight rappers, and generally
artists are critical of homosexuality.
This conforms to the stereotype of rappers
being masculine and straight.
