1. Who would be the audience for your media product? Sarah Cross
2. Age The age of the target audience of my magazine would be young adults and teens from about 15-25. The music genre I have chosen to base my magazine on is Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is a genre of music that appeals to the younger generation as the music artists commonly seen through the media today are role models for teens and young adults. Hip-hop music is generally accepted by the elder generations as it is constantly changing with political and celebrity affairs. Typically, artists in this genre of music are young and fresh faced, making themselves role models to those that follow them. Language used throughout my product is modern and slang-like, again, appealing to a younger target audience.
3. Gender The gender I am preferably targeting for my media product is male, however I wanted to make it equal between both genders. The Hip-Hop genre is stereotypically dominated by the male gender. Most music artists of the genre are male, and the media surrounding Hip-Hop music typically represents men as a stronger sex and women in a derogatory way. For my magazine I wanted to go against stereotypes and target both genders for my audience. By referencing female artists on my contents page and even introducing my own female artist, I feel that my magazine would also appeal to a wider audience of both genders.
4. The Profile of my audience. This is a stereotypical member of my target audience. Aged at 16, this is the target age of my audience. This audience member wears clothing brands such as Nike, Vans, Adidas and Topman. His interests are the internet, celebrities, music and fashion. These are the main components I would try to cover in my magazine. This audience member would consume other media such as Facebook, television, films and magazines. This member of my audience has a lifestyle that consists of college, a girlfriend, drinking alcohol and socializing.
