2. Prices and Frequency of Publication
Most Rock magazines are usually priced between £2 and £3, this usually makes the magazine affordable
to customers. A higher price may deter customers because they will realise that the long term cost will be
too much.
Magazines that have a higher cost are usually produced less often than magazines that are produced
more often, these magazines are usually only released each month or once every other month.
Lower cost magazines are usually produced more often and are smaller in size than a more expensive
magazine. These magazines are usually produced weekly or fortnightly.
3. Issue Sizes
Magazines that have a high price are often larger and feature many feature
articles as well as regular content that a smaller magazine may not be able to
provide.
Small magazines often have a low page number because they are produced more
often and cost less, this may impact the quality of the product.
4. Regular ContentIn magazines there is often regular content
that will be recurring throughout every issue,
in rock magazines such as Kerrang it is often
a charts section that shows the editor's
choice of songs, a letter from the editor and
advertisements for bands as well as free
content. Kerrang also have a community
page in each issue that allows fans to have
their views published and in some cases they
can have their images published too.
Rock magazines often feature concert dates
for bands and performances within the
country that it is intended for. Inside most
issues there is an advertisement for
subscriptions to the magazine, this is seen
across most genres of magazine and is not
exclusive to the rock genre.
5. Feature Content
In most magazines the feature content is exclusive to the magazine and will not be
featured anywhere else at the time. Usually the exclusive content for a rock/any
music magazine is an interview with a band or exclusive images/previews of an
album.
