2. Front Cover:
Music magazines follow all of
the general codes and
conventions of normal
magazine but it also has a
few of its own conventions.
Music Magazine titles are
usually only one or two words
and have a unique font.
The main image is usually
layered over the title of the
magazine if it is a well know
one as customers will already
know the layout.
3. The cover image is usually a well
know, and popular artist, to
encourage more people to buy it.
The image on the front cover of a
music magazine conveys the
attitude of the artist who is
featured on it.
The lighting and angle also help
to covey this feeling.
For example, the feeling given off
by Muse’s cover photo on this Q
magazine is a very serious one.
This is shown through the blue
lighting and the direct address
shown from the band members.
4. Most of the cover lines on a
music magazine are artist
names, as it is all about
attracting an audience to buy
the magazine so, the more
artists that are on the cover,
the more likely people are to
buy it as it has a wide variety
of artists in it.
Music magazines also have a
“Plus” section where they list
even more artists that are in
the magazine, again making
more people attracted to the
magazine if they see a band
or singer they like is in it.
5. Contents Page:
Magazine contents pages are
basically the same as a
regular magazine contents
page. They have the separate
headings for the features and
for regular features.
Contents pages in music
magazines often have a lot of
images as well as listing all
the articles just in text.
Text on contents pages is
usually no bigger than 11pt.
