2. Price
The price of my magazine will be between £2 and £3, this was researched and
was found to be the average price for a magazine in the rock genre. I will aim for a
price of £2.50 be cause it is affordable in the long term even if it is produced at a
high frequency. The price of the magazine may force it to be a smaller size so it
appears to be more value for money.
3. Frequency Of Publication
Through my research I found that magazines are often published monthly to allow
content to be written and published with ease, producing magazines more
frequently could result in the content starting to lack interesting topics or that the
issue size may shrink to accommodate the lack of content. My magazine will be
released monthly to avoid this problem.
4. Average Issue Size
The average issue size appears to be between 32-48 and 128-160, straying too
far from these numbers may not be economical for the publisher. My magazine
will be between 60 and 80 pages in order to accommodate feature articles and
regular content. It will also be economic because the cost of printing will be less
than a larger magazine.
5. Regular Content
Rock magazines often feature concert dates for bands and performances within
the country that it is intended for. Inside most issues there is an advertisement for
subscriptions to the magazine, this is seen across most genres of magazine and is
not exclusive to the rock genre. My magazine will feature content such as a charts
list, an editors letter and potentially posters that relate to popular bands.
6. Feature Content
My research revealed that the feature content in most magazines included
interviews with bands and artists, concert announcements or special events and
even exclusive artwork. In my magazine I have chosen to have mostly interviews
in my magazine and I may include exclusive posters to attract audiences who may
be fans of that band/artist.
