Project proposal title and date:

Main area of activity:
Film
Rationale:
Over these pasttwo years I have learnta lot of skills thatwill help me during the final major project. In my first
year of the course,I learnt of the basic skills thatare required for film making. The first module in the year that
we did was the Irn Bru project. In this project, I created a 30 second advertisement.Ilearnt the basics of
using a camera and software such as Premier Pro.I developed these basic skills during the shortfilm module
of that same year.At the end of the year in which we did our year 1 final major project,I created a short
horror film incorporating clones and mirror reflections. In this projectI explored with visual effects, making
effects such as cloning and vertical blurs. The biggestthing I learnt during this projectis how to plan a
production and develop it well.
As well as learning basic skills in year one,I have learnt some harder skills during mysecond and final year
of the course before commencing the FMP. The factual project taughtme how to interview a person and how
to edit an interview. This is an importantskill to have s mostjobs in the media industryare in journalism and
you mustknow how to interview people if you were to go into that specific field. Also, in the previous topic, the
clientproject, I have learnthow to work with a client.During the process,Ilistened to the client and
comprehend whatthey wantas well as incorporating myown ideas.
Project Concept:
I’m going to make an artistic short film about alcohol and excessive drinking. The target audience
for this project is teenagers and young adults. I want to aim it at this age because I want to raise
awareness of the dangers of alcohol before teenagers turn 18 so they know to be responsible
when they start going out drinking. Although my project has a meaning and a target market, I have
decided to make the genre of my film an art film. Usually art films do not aim for a certain market
and take a topic and express it with experimental and aesthetic shots and effects. I would like to
use more techniques and try new styles of film so that’s why I have decided to do an artistic film.
Overall the message would be to be responsible with alcohol and to know your limits with it and
know when to stop. Also, to raise awareness to what happens to your body when you excessively
drink. In order to make a successful product, I’m going to have to research the topic of alcohol so I
can use the right facts in my video. I will also research different video techniques.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
I will be using different methods to evaluate my work. One method is to do a reflections document.
During the development, production and reflection of my product, I will write a weekly reflection to
review my progress with the project. Coming to the end of my project I will evaluate my work. One
of the ways I will do this is by having others review my product. They will then tell me what they
liked about the video and things they think would have made the video better. Another way I will
evaluate is to review the product. I will discuss what went well during production, if I managed my
time well, wat I like about my video and what I wished I could have done differently or what I could

have added. If I use these methods for my product, it will make my product better and give me a
better view of what I need to do in order to make my future products good.
