2. INTRODUCTION…
Caused by ASF virus (ASFV), genus Asfivirus.
African swine fever (ASF) is an infectious disease of domestic
and wild pigs of all breeds and ages.
ASF is not a zoonotic disease and does not affect public health.
Pigs are the only species that is naturally infected by ASFV.
Up to 100 % Mortality in pigs.
No Specific Treatment or Vaccination is Available .
3. SYMPTOMS
ASF cannot be differentiated from Classical Swine Fever (CSF) by either
clinical or post-mortem examination.
Only Can Be Confirmed by serological and other methods like PCR, ELISA
etc.

4. STATUS OF OCCURRENCE OF ASF DISEASE IN BIHAR
First time the disease is noticed in Bihar in year 2022 in Saran district.
Epicenter was in Sadar Chhapra and Nashira Dushadh Tola (Manjhi block)
in backyard piggery farming.
Also 8 incidence has been Identified in District Nalanda, East champaran,
Rohtas, West champaran, Khagaria, Patna and recently in Saharsa in pig .
Sample were Confirmed Positive by NIHSAD Bhopal.
