Evaluation pre production
1. Evaluation pre-production:
Finance
With the budget the only thing I had to buy for the filming process was the SD card which
was £12 the rest of the equipment I borrowed then returned when I was done using it.
There was no budget for travel because the actors lived within walking distance of the
shooting location. I had a budget sheet to show how much I needed and how much it costs
Logistics
I planned my script around my location because I knew I would be able to use it and had the
shots planned out and how the story would progress through the movie. I the organized and
sorted out my actors who would be in the movie and they signed a contract to say I could
use them in the movie. I then conducted risk assessments after I got the rights to use to
location. Only one hazard arose and it was a trip hazard which was sorted out by making the
actress practice the scene before shooting it. I have had regular meetings and have filled in
sheets to document the meetings and what was discussed during them. I collected the
camera and tripod on the day of shooting and I owned the SD card so I did not have to go
collect that.
Creative processes
For my ideas I planned it around my location so I could have my character start in one place
and have them slowly move through the house to the different places to movie the
narrative along and progress.
I organized for both actors to be at mine for 6pm and said we are shooting for about 2 hours
which we stuck to. They were both professional and remembered their lines and where they
had to be in each scene.
I used premier pro to edit the video together and add the sounds that are needed. The
sound was non copyrighted so I was able to use it. When using premier pro, I had to cut
down certain clips so that they would make sense in the movie
The deadlines were met and I got everything finished on time and everything was planned
and edited before the deadline was finished. I put together a draft of the movie and
uploaded some outtakes that did not make it into the movie or scenes where the lines were
messed up and something went wrong.
To monitor my progress, I uploaded clips that we did not use in the movie or that were
outtakes to show behind the scenes footage. This shows that things did not always get done
in one take sometimes it took multiple tries.
There weren’t any problems because all the cast showed up on time and were professional
we didn’t run into technical issues when filming, the camera worked fine and we had
enough storage on the SD card to film the scenes. The battery did not run out either and in
case it did I brought a spare one.
I also got permission to use the location in advance and organized a date to film when
everyone would be available and so we would have enough time to filmall the scenes that
were in the script.
2. For the pre-production I had to fill in many different forms in order to make this movie
which included risk assessments, location scouting forms and sound sheets to make sure
everything was in place and everything was ready for the movie to be done. The sound
sheet came after the movie was shot because I wasn’t sure what sound I wanted in the
movie until I saw it and to make sure the sounds and music I placed in made sense
General thoughts
In the future I would get all the paperwork out of the way first so I would have more time
for the shooting of the movie and putting it together. Time management for the movie and
shooting it was difficult because we had to rush to get it finished and finish using the
location due to certain circumstances.
During shooting I had help from one of the actors Ryan lock who helped with seeing up the
camera. We ran into some problems as the shoot went on because near the end the battery
was about to die and we did not have a spear with us so we had to rush to get some of the
final shots done. Since it was also getting late we had to rush the hots even more because
we didn’t have long left to use the location so sometimes we could only shoot a certain
scene one or two times.
Something that didn’t help was the room we had to shot the camera placement sometimes
got in the way of where the actors had to walk so we had to stop and move it so that we
could get the shots that we needed. The owners of the house were also I so I was worried
the sound of the tv would be herded in the background of shots but then I realized I could
have it as background noise since it’s a horror movie.
One problem we had during the shoot the house alarm went off so there was a delay when
shooting some scene s because the owner had to come downstairs and turn it off.
