1. Production Log
Date – Monday 26th
January 2015
Today me and my group filmed our trailer. We had to wait until it turned
dark outside so we could film. We had to try and do all the filming on that
day because we were behind schedule. It was our last week to film, we
managed to film all the things we needed.
I was personally responsible for the camera because my role was the
camera person. I needed to set up the camera before filming, move the
camera around while filming to make sure the shot was perfect and
make sure the camera or tripod didn’t fall or anything. I had to make sure
the position and perspective of the camera was perfect. I also had to
decided and use different shot types and different shot lengths, so not
just keep the camera at the same angle or it would be boring. For
example the different shot types we used were close up (CU), full shot
(FS) and extreme long shot (ELS). I was also the director of the group.
This means I made all the decisions. I controlled the trailers artistic and
dramatic aspects. I guided the actors for my trailer and my crew. I also
visualized the script for the trailer. As I was the film director, I had the
key role to choose the cast members and aspects of trailer making.
We didn’t have a lot of problems, there were only a few bits where I
accidently pressed the stop button when I wasn’t supposed to and there
were times where I forgot to press the record button. But after every
scene that I was supposed to record, I went and checked on the gallery
to see if I recorded it right. Also, when I was watching the clips it was
really quiet but that wasn’t a problem because I was able to watch the
clips on the mac after I uploaded them.
The effect it had on us is that it took up a lot of time because we had to
make sure each scene was filmed properly.
Scene 1:

For this scene I decided to make the shot a medium close up (MCU). I didn’t want the camera to be
too far from the actors face because I wanted the audience to see Katie’s reaction and her facial
expression. If I put the camera right in front of their faces, the laptop would have been in the way. So I
decided to film in a diagonal angle so their facial expressions were showing, and so the screen of the
laptop was showing a bit.

For this scene I did an extreme close up. The camera was really close to the laptop screen so the
audience knows what their homework Is about and what is happening.
