1. Evaluation Question 7
“Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have you learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?”
In creating my film opening, I also created a preliminary product in order to
familiarise myself with the different pieces of equipment and software, as well as
with the process of creating a video.
My preliminary task was a short piece titled, “The Dealer”, which was edited
using Final Cut Pro – initially, I struggled with the software, because it was quite
unfamiliar to me, however, I quickly grew accustomed with it, and was able to
utilise the film that I had recorded efficiently.
To film the piece, I had one camera, which in itself was easy to use, however,
things such as adjusting focus, how to hold the camera to keep it steady and
where to place myself in order to film properly I found difficulty in, although I
had managed to find ways to make it work for myself.
Aside from how to create it, the preliminary task offered me a chance to figure
out certain things that I could put inside of my main task, such as the use of
distances, and making a change in camera angles look very natural.
The preliminary task permitted a more practical approach to finding out how to
film, as well as important things to include.
