Separation of Lanthanides/ Lanthanides and Actinides
Evaluation Question 2
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF
YOUR SHORT FILM, RADIO TRAILER AND
FILM POSTER?
2. MESSAGE OF THE FILM:
• I think that the message that was trying to be conveyed in the
film is shown towards the end in particular and that is that you
can’t hide from the consequences of your actions.
• I believe that the film is very effective at showing this message,
as the ending portrays the ultimate consequence of the
protagonist losing his life. I also feel that the film does a great
job at visually showing the audience that you can’t hide from
your actions, which is shown in the shot where Martin, the
protagonist, is pulled out from under the bed and confronted by
the antagonist.
3. MESSAGE OF MY POSTER:
• You can’t hide from the consequences.
• I like my poster and believe that it does a good job of connoting
this message, as the audience is looking through the
protagonist’s eyes as he is cowering from under the bed with a
POV camera shot. Also, within the frame we see the antagonists
intimidating feet that are representing the repercussions of the
protagonist’s actions.
6. UNIQUE SELLING POINT:
• I feel that the unique selling point for short film is not only the
effective use of POV camera shots to create tension for the
audience, but the plot twist in the end by challenging Propp’s
Theory and not having anyone come to the protagonists rescue.
This is similar to the film poster, as the POV shot shows no
escape for the protagonist as it creates enigma coding for the
audience as they will wonder whether the protagonist will
survive or if the antagonist will be unconventional and come out
on top.
7. UNIQUE SELLING POINT:
• I think that the poster would be quite effective in the real world,
as I have tried to make it as professional as possible and it
connotes the themes and messages that are present with in the
film. I also believe that the poster is very eye catching and
draws audience’s attention to it from the high contrast and the
monochromatic filter applied over the top of the image. I also
think that the fact that its landscape instead of portrait, adds to
its appeal as it is a slightly less conventional way of displaying
the poster.
9. UNIQUE SELLING POINT:
• I feel that my magazine cover does not have a unique layout to
just my short film, as the format is completely based on another
popular magazine. However, I think that my unique selling point
is the face of the actors used within my magazine, as they are
recognisable and would catch the eyes of any of their fans.
10. UNIQUE SELLING POINT:
• I feel that the difference between the poster and the magazine
cover is that the poster could be easy to advertise as it could be
displayed in an enlarged format, within supermarkets and on bill
boards. Whereas, the magazine cover could only be posted
within a niche short film magazine that only advertise up and
coming short film artists.
