IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE
FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL
MEDIA PRODUCTS?
Just like many movie magazines, my model is
positioned over the masthead. This was done in
order to show the importance of the main article.
I have blended my model to a black and red
background in order to connote the genre of
which my magazine is based in.
MODEL
To show that my model is
the most important thing on
the page, my sell lines and
slogan goes around the face
of my model. Other than
that the line lines go up to
the middle of the of the
page.
SELL LINES
My magazine has no button nor a real banner. I
have gone against this connotation to portray the
genre of my magazine. Without the
button/banner, reduces the likeliness of brighter
colours which could make a reader unsure of the
genre.
BUTTON/BANNER
I have decided to design my masthead with a line going
through the middle to symbolise the fact that my
magazine is of the horror genre. I have also named my
magazine “SLASHER”, which is a subgenre to horror.
This is obvious to any reader what type of horror
movies that will be featured in my magazine.
MASTHEAD
In my poster, model is placed in the centre which isn’t a
rule when it comes to posters but, combined with the
fact that there are three images of my model in different
positions to give away part of the plot of my trailer.
MODEL
The three main actors in my trailer are placed at the very
top of my poster. This is to show that they are the main
actors that have play the most important roles in the
movie. However there is only one of the three in the
poster. This creates a sense ambiguity as the viewer is
unaware of the other characters and would be enticed to
watch the movie.
MAIN CAST
The credits of my poster are positioned at the bottom
of the poster. This is because people are usually
uninterested in the credits but the studios have to give
recognition to the people who contributed to the film
and poster. My credits however are larger than the ones
you would find on a real magazine to show more
recognition to the contributing people and so that
viewers would take more notice of them.
