(you, plural),我(I)

From “你” to“你们”,
students can infer “我

们”(we/us)from “我
”(I). Then teacher will
say “我喜欢你们。”(I
like all of you)with
gesture, since students
already know the
meaning of “我”(I)
and “你们”(you,
plural), they will know
that “喜欢” means like
in Chinese. Then
teacher will ask “你们
喜欢我吗?”, the word
orders of “我喜欢你们
。” and “你们喜欢我吗
?” are almost the
same, and students will
realize the second
sentence is a question
from the “?”. So
students can guess the
meaning of “你们喜欢
我吗?”(Do you like
me?). If the answer is
yes, the sentence “我们
喜欢你”(We like you.
)will be taught as the
answer to the question.

students “你喜欢我吗
?”(Do you like me?)
, and teach the right
way to answer the
question: YES: 我喜欢
你(I like you); NO:
我不喜欢你(I don’t
like you). Here, the
negative form “不” will
be introduced to
students.

Lesson plan grammar: yes or no question

Students will take turns to ask a yes or no question and answer the question from the last one in the contextualized drill. Opening activity Greeting and review: greet to students and review what they learned in last class: 你 (you, singular),你们 (you, plural),我(I) Time: 1min Learning episode From “你” to“你们”, students can infer “我 Time: 2mins

Then teacher will say “我喜欢你们。”(I like all of you)with gesture, since students already know the meaning of “我”(I) and “你们”(you, plural), they will know that “喜欢” means like in Chinese. Then teacher will ask “你们 喜欢我吗?”, the word orders of “我喜欢你们 。” and “你们喜欢我吗 ?” are almost the same, and students will realize the second sentence is a question from the “?”. So students can guess the meaning of “你们喜欢
  • 4. 我吗?”(Do you like me?). If the answer is yes, the sentence “我们 喜欢你”(We like you. )will be taught as the answer to the question. Learning episode Teacher will ask some students “你喜欢我吗 ?”(Do you like me?) , and teach the right way to answer the question: YES: 我喜欢 你(I like you); NO: 我不喜欢你(I don’t like you).
