Radioisotope
How many electrons does Mg^(2+) have?
A: Magnesium (Mg) has 12 electrons. The atomic number is 12, meaning it has 12 protons. The
number of protons is equal to the number of electrons, therefore there are 12 electrons. This ion
however has a +2 charge, meaning that it has lost two of its original electrons. This means that
Mg^(2+) has 10 electrons. Given that the half life of the radioisotope carbon 14 is 5730 years, how
useful do you think this isotope would be for dating bones that are over a million years old?
A: This isotope would not be very useful for dating bones that are over a million years old. This is
because carbon is in the living plants and animals since they consume nutrients with it and the air they
breathe contains it. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxidation reduction (redox)
The process of losing electrons is called oxidation and the process of gaining electrons is called
reduction. When transferring electrons between two substances, one always reduces and another one
oxides known as a redox reaction.
An example of this is H_2+F_2→2HF Neutralization reactions
Neutralization reactions involve the reaction of a base and an acid to produce a salt and water.
An example of this is HBr+KOH→Kbr+H_2 O acid+base→salt+water
For the following chemical reaction:
C_6 H_12 O_6+6O_2→6CO_2+6H_2 O+energy
Identify
The substance(s) being oxidized.
A: Glucose is oxidized, as we can see there is no longer any H attached to the carbon and oxygen. It
loses electrons therefore is being oxidized. The substance that is reduced.
A: Oxygen is being reduced because it gained water and energy will be created in the process.

Invite Three People To Dinner
If you got the chance to invite three people to your dinner party, dead or alive, who would you
choose? I would invite Jensen Ackles, Robin Williams, and Barack Obama to my dinner party because
they re all very humorous and a great inspiration to me. It was a hard choice, but I chose these three
people for many reasons. Jensen Ackles is my number one choice because he has been my biggest
obsession for the past few years. He is an actor in the show Supernatural, where he plays a character
named Dean. I have loved him for a long time not just for his looks, but also for his hilarious
personality. He is also very sweet; right now he is raising money for a community support network
called You are Not Alone. He would be a substantial person to meet and have dinner with. ... Show

I believe his greatest roll was as John Keating in Dead Poets Society, as that movie was very
inspirational and his character is very influential. He has many other rolls that are either comedies or

though he recently committed suicide, I would wish to invite him because he is both funny and

Unit 4 Case Quality Metrics
Case Quality Metrics The following metrics have been developed by NERC and vetted with industry

Subcommittee (SAMS). Phase I Steady State Powerflow Metrics Dispatched generator real power

Although small violations of this Pmin rule appear trivial, the result is same for all violations the case

However, this flag is seldom used in the WECC base cases. Therefore, to eliminate wind units from
the reactive limits check (Qgen at Qmax or Qmin), the dynamics data file has to be loaded and the
corresponding dynamic models have to be checked. The units with the any of the following wind
generator models were eliminated from the check: genwri, gewtg, gewtgx, regc_a, wt1g, wt2g, wt3g,
and wt4g. The names of the dc exciter models differ between PSS®E and PSLF. Hence, for the check
on parameter KE in dc exciters, the following models were checked in PSLF: esdc1a, esdc2a, esdc3a,
esdc4b, exdc1, exdc2, exdc2a, exdc4, ieeet1, and rexs. PSLF has generator MVA base specified in
both the powerflow file and the dynamic data file. All dynamic data is then taken on the per unit MVA
base specified in the dynamic data file. In PSS®E, there is only one value of MVA base specified, and
that is in the powerflow file. In the evaluation of the metrics regarding generator inertia constants for
the WECC base cases (using PSLF); the inertia constant has been evaluated on the MVA base
specified in the powerflow file, unless the specified base was the default 100

United Law And International Law Essay
Jurisdiction is arguably the most versatile term in current international law. Frequently used in
international legal instruments and yet never defined, the term can have different meanings in different
contexts. Depending on the circumstances, jurisdiction may refer to the totality of the power or
authority that a state has or exercises, in which case it is fully identifiable with sovereignty, another
often used but likewise never clearly defined term in international law. Jurisdiction is an aspect of
state sovereignty. International law scholars have increasingly taken the view that the term sovereignty
means all and only those attributes which are given to a state under international law descriptive of the
scope of state freedom as a legal rather than factual matter sovereignty. In this conception does not
define, but is defined by the legal powers of a state within an international society of states. It does not
exist prior to law, but as a set of attributes of the legal construct that is the state, existing as a
consequence of law. As one scholar expressed it, sovereignty is nothing more or less than the legal
competence which states have in general. The power of a sovereign to affect the right of persons,
whether by legislation, executive decree, or by a judgement of a court is called jurisdiction. The power
of soveiregn, therefore to affect legal rights depends upon law; and upon the law must be based all
sovereign jurisdiction. Through the concept of

stores and supermarkets and increase overall corporate revenues. Will the company continue its past
success? Yes. A continued emphasis on customer satisfaction, coupled with effective strategies that
develop new product lines, will stimulate revenue growth and stabilize share prices. The current vision
and path summarized by Starbucks president and CEO, Howard Schultz, is a commitment to
continually improving our customer experience as the roadmap to renewed growth and increasing
profitability, with emphasis on continued application of previously successful strategies, we will
continue to innovate and differentiate, two perennial hallmarks of the Starbucks brand. (Starbucks

Arson Is a Seirous Problem in the United States
Arson is a serious problem in the United States, being the number one cause of all fires, the number
two cause of fire death and the cause of over one billion dollars of damage every year. Webster defines
arson as The crime of maliciously burning somebody else s building or property or of burning one s
own to get insurance money. Arson is thought of as an insurance concern, an invisible paper lose by
the general populace, but for the firefighters who have been injured or killed responding to set fires
and the hundreds of civilians killed each year in incendiary or suspicious building fires, arson looms
as a significant issue that is anything but invisible. Arson is the malicious or fraudulent burning of

The primary concern about fires set in churches is that they have been racially motivated. Of 230
church burnings in 1994 41% targeted black churches and 59% targeted white churches. In over 100
arrests, racial hatred was found to be a main motive for arson. Of those arrested 66% where white and
34% were black. In 1996 the problem of church arson increased sharply. As a result president Clinton
formed the National Church Arson Task Force (NCATF), to coordinate the efforts of federal, state and
local law enforcement agencies. Congress also then passed the Church Arson Prevention Act (CAPA),
which expanded the options available to prosecutors when dealing with malicious acts aimed at
houses of worship, since NCATF was passed the incidence of arson at houses of worship declined
steadily.
The most common motives for arson have been found to be: vandalism, excitement/attention seeking,
revenge/spite, crime concealment, economic reasons, extremist/terrorism, and people with mental
problems. Crime concealment is when arson is used to conceal another crime such as murder,
burglary, or vehicle theft. There are some people that have been found to have an irresistible impulse
to set fires. Economic Reasons may consist of insurance fraud, debt removal, direct monetary gain,
elimination of unwanted ownership, and arson for profit. The profit may come in several forms: from

Personal Viewpoint of the Attack of Peral Harbor Essay

Pearl Harbor. I will be taking on the perspective of a U.S military personnel, who experiences the
attack first hand. Throughout my paper I will also show the reactions of the people who lived on the
Naval Base, and how this attack affected America to this day.
My name is John Hopkins, and I was an American soldier, who helped during the attack on Pearl

the horrible and forceful ambitions Japan had planned against China. I also heard that the Japanese

This thought left me feeling a sense of unsafety and uncomfort in my own home. It was now the
sunday morning of December 7, 1941, where many military personnel had a time of leisure. Many of
them either were still sleeping, in halls eating breakfast, or getting ready for church. I who had been in
the mess hall having breakfast sat with a group of men, enjoying a warm bowl of oatmeal and coffee.
As I took a sip of coffee I felt all my muscles awaken and gain strength ready for what this day would
bring me. It was just another day of work, or that is what we all thought. The hall was full of cheerful
men laughing, talking, and eating. All of a sudden we heard the sounds of planes racing through the
thick air, and the crowd of people grew silent. I looked around as everyones faces grew with fear and
confusion, as they ran outside to see what was going on.
I looked into the sky and around 183 aircrafts flew through the air. Everyone looked around at each
other confused to whether this was a drill or an actual attack. Then Admiral Kimmel ran out of his tent
and announced to the U.S Naval Fleet that this was not a drill, but a raid. The Japanese commander
Mitsuo Fuchida, who was the leader of the attack then called out, Tora! Tora! Tora! People ran in

Acculturation And Assimilation In The Pity Of It All By Elon
Short Paper 1: Acculturation/Assimilation: Gains
Over the course of history, the Jewish culture has endured many cultural hardships. When Nationalism
began to rise in Europe, the treatment of Jews became harsh. Amos Elon describes this transition for
Jews in his novel The Pity of it All. For all their irony and skepticism, the Jews of Germany never
ceased in their effort to merge German and Jewish identity...their overriding desire was to be complete
Germans. (Elon, 8). The major concerns in Jewish history throughout the ages have been assimilation
and acculturation. Acculturation and assimilation are two very important concepts that describe the
cultural effects on both minorities and majorities. While these concepts are very similar, there are
slight differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One component of our society that demonstrates the concept of acculturation is food. People with
Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, and French roots carry their own culture while still accepting the customs
in America. In restaurants, the food they serve follows the same traditions that could be found in other
countries while still adapting to the language and culture of the whites. While acculturation is more
accepting to the majority of society, minorities can still be treated harshly. The Jews, for example,
were willing to adapt to the German culture. In fact, many of the Jews loved the Germans and wanted
to be one united culture. At the same time, the Jews wanted to keep their religion and some aspects of
their culture: The vast majority never hid the fact that they were Jews. (Elon, 8). Some people like
Moses Mendelssohn believe that it was possible to be Germans and Jews at the same time. However,
the Germans felt threatened by the intellect of the Jews and began to deny them all opportunities to
succeed in society. Rejection is one of the negative outcomes that can result from acculturation. In
addition acculturation can lead to many outcomes

Usually, according to Sobel, M MBA in a nutshell , one of the most common causes of new business
failure is undercapitalization. Fledgling organization like Nano Brewery with solid product lines and
good marketing efforts may nonetheless require a great deal of funding if it plans to expand. Liquidity
Ratio or Quick Ratio: The liquidity ratio or quick ratio according to Sobel, M MBA in a nutshell , is
another measure of short term solvency, in relative terms. This is considered a conservative indicator,
according to Sobel, M MBA in a nutshell , given that the assets represented in the numerator of the
ratio do not include inventory, which is difficult to liquidate quickly. The formula that expresses this
is:
Liquidity ratio = Cash + accounts receivable + marketable securities divided by Current liabilities
Placing the values from the balance sheet into the formula
Liquidity ratio = $10,972.18 divided by $4,073 = 2.7
An organization s quick ratio is supposed to be greater than 1.1. From the result above, we can see that

The Day Of A Bus
It was September 20th of 2011 when I stepped aboard a bus heading to Recruit Training Command in
Great Lakes, Illinois. It was rather dark in the bus as I sat there next to other young men looking just
as nervous and scared as I was since none of us knew what our ordeal would be for the upcoming 2
months. I was thinking to myself man what the hell am I even doing here? and then without me even
paying attention to where we were outside; the bus came to a halt. As soon as the bus stopped this man
came aboard and said to all us get the fuck out the bus right now! and all of us got up as quickly as
humanly possible and started exciting the bus double time. As we were heading into the building at a
rather spry pace, the man kept screaming and swearing at us making us even more nervous for none of
us had a clue on what would really be happening in the upcoming months. Line up against the wall
recruits is what a man started screaming over and over again as he walked out of this room at the
corner of the hall. This man kept screaming and yelling things at us, but I barely got word of what he
was actually saying since I was in another world. What is going on? and am I going to get to talk to
my parents at all? were all common thoughts that kept going through my head as this was all
happening. However I was soon brought back into the world of reality when he started saying things
that I actually cared about. Alright recruits you ll have 10 minutes to call you folks to tell

Painting With Light By Dante Gabriel Rossetti Essay
The exhibition, Painting with Light will be displayed at the Tate Modern in London from May the
11th till September the 25th 2016. To those of you who may see Edwardian and Victorian art as not
being particularly exciting, i would encourage you to try and look past this disinterest and get down to
see the Painting with Light exhibition. The exhibition impressively manages to capture the
development of art during the period in a way of which the disinterest of most is turned into intrigue
and knowledge.
The exhibition focuses on the relationship between painting and photography, the largely experimental
period in which this developed coincided with the founding of the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood.
Paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais and John Singer Sargent are included (and
personally i believe they are the highlights of the exhibition) are shown side by side with the photos
they inspired and of subjects they drew inspiration from.
The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was a secret society of the mid 19th century that sought to create a
new form of British art. They strived to emulate art from the late medieval period, early renaissance
till the of Raphael, striving to convey messages of artistic renewal and moral reform. This theme
combined with Aesthetic and Impressionist works gives the richness in culture and a great span in
examples that supply ample contextual and visual support for the idea the exhibition is conveying.
Although the exhibition

The Role Of Technology In The Revolutionization Of America
Throughout the inception of America, technology has played a key role in its development and
growth. As the country evolved the technology that was utilized by this country was also changed. The
rate that technology was developed and implemented in this country is one of the main reasons that
America stands in the place that it does today. One technology that is relatively new compared to the
age of this country is computers. Although this technology is fairly new compared to others, it is one
of the main reasons that a plethora of other technology could flourish. Computers not only affected
other technology but society and revolutionized the entire world. The earliest conception of a

Data storage now meant that all the data that was on paper could now be in a digital format. This
meant less space, faster access, and better organization than ever before. Companies could now store
data not only related to the company s inner workings but consumer data as well. IBM not only leased
out this to smaller companies but had an offer to buy out the product if they wanted. This was a good
move by IBM due to the fact that this invited groups both small and large to experiment with the
product.
The computer might have many inventions to supplement it; the biggest is invention came in 1965.
This was the beginning of the internet. At first the only the idea of sending information from one
computer to another was very much desired by the world. The Russians accomplished this by sending
a probe into space that would send a signal back to show that it was still active. Due to the cold war
and the space race, America wanted to catch up to the technology the Russians had so that they would
not fall behind. On top of sending the first man to the moon they had completed a shadow of what the

Three Possible Reasons To Why Galetown To Have Severe Storms
As we talked about with Dr. Kenge, there are 3 possible claims to why Galetown is having severe
storms. The first claim is that the lake that was built near Galetown caused it to have more severe
storms. The second claim is that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms. The
third claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. In this case, claim 1,
2, and 3 are all responsible for the severe storms that have mysteriously occurred in Galetown.
The first claim is that the lake that was built near Galetown caused it to have more severe storms. That
statement is correct because the lake caused the city to have more surface water, which in turn would

If you look at storm 2 and storm 3 s temperatures before the storm, it s a drastic difference. Storm 2
was 81 degrees fahrenheit and storm 3 was 104 degrees fahrenheit. Storm 2 had only 5 inches of rain,
while storm 3 had 8 inches of rain. Based on temperature being one of the only variables, I concluded
that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms.
The third and final claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. That
statement is correct because stronger winds caused the air parcels to rise even higher than it would ve
been, which in turn caused more rainfall. Wind pushed the air parcel even higher in the air, in turn
making the air parcel lose more energy. As we know, the higher the air parcel rises in the air, the more
rain will occur than before, and even more severe storms. If you look at storm 3 and storm 4 wind
strength during the severe storms, it s a humongous difference! Storm 3 had a light wind strength,
while storm 4 had a very strong wind strength. Storm 3 had 8 inches of rain and storm 4 had 12 inches
of rain. Based on storm 3 and 4, they both had the same amount of local surface water and high
temperatures before the storm, the only difference is wind strength. I concluded that wind strength
caused Galetown to have more severe storms.
Based on the evidence presented above, I have concluded that all 3 claims of stronger winds, warmer
temperatures, and the creation of

Holocaust And Nannk Analysis
The Annihilation of a Nation: Holocaust Vs Rape and Nanking
In the span of six weeks 300,000 to 600,000 civilians of Nanjing, China were murdered and/or raped(
The rape of Nanking 1937 1938 1). The Holocaust had 9 million victims. There are many similarities
and differences between the Holocaust and Rape and Nanjing. Both the Holocaust and Rape and
Nanking are genocides. A genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those
of a particular ethnic group or nation.
What are the similarities and differences between the two genocides? The Holocaust started on
January 30th of 1933 and lasted till May 8th of 1945. The Holocaust took place in mostly Germany
but Europe, Poland, and Austria had their place too. Hitler blamed the Jews for the great depression
causing the hatred of their race and religion. While the Holocaust took place, another genocide quickly
took place. On December 13th, 1937 the Rape and Nanjing took place in Nanjing, China and ended in
6 weeks( The Tokyo judgement and the rape of nanking 1). 300,000 to 600,000 civilians were victims

Outline the View That Crime Is Socially Constructed Essay
This essay will offer different definitions of crime, suggesting that it is a social construction as it
varies across culture, time and belief. It will examine the role of social construction, through
interpretation and meaning, in the identification, reporting and legal consequences of criminal acts.
After illustrating how fear, escalated by the media, can directly affect crime, it will conclude that
crime and its consequences are socially constructed. The obvious definition of crime is the legal
definition of an act which breaks the law. However, the Oxford English Dictionary extends this to
include an act which is ‘injurious to the public welfare An evil or injurious act; an offence, sin;

evidence questions this by suggesting that crime is greatly under reported for reasons such as the
feeling that the crime was not serious enough. In contradiction, Maguire (1997) suggests that there is
an increased reporting of crimes, for example, through having greater access to a telephone. In relation
to conviction, Eitzen (1986, p.427) demonstrates that white collar crime and street crime carry
different legal penalties, thus illustrating the different meanings they hold.
Today concerns are often expressed about the increasing magnitude and changing nature of crime,
which can lead to the perception that life was better in the past. Geoffrey Pearson (1983) suggests that
this is one example in the history of ‘respectable fears which, it is argued, are a result of a decline in
the stability of social structures, shared morality and values witnessed in, for example, the increase in
single parent families. Cohen (1973) suggests that societies do, periodically, experience these social
fears or ‘moral panics when something or someone is

Emigrant And Immigrants In The Kingdom Of The Netherlands
Over the years, the Netherlands has seen a massive influx of immigrants, both refugees and economic,
from all areas of the world. As a result, the current demographic of the Netherlands is characterized by
20% of the Dutch population [being] immigrants or children of immigrant parents (Ersanilli, 2007);
thus, for that reason the importance of this topic/problem is further elevated. Coming from Curacao, a
small island which forms part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as well as whose economy depends
on tourism and permanent migration, it is interesting to apply theories and empirical data to something
that I have accepted as the norm. For some, living in a nation state where migration is extremely
prevalent might not seem the norm, but for me it is; thus, it is compelling to see how this previous
knowledge can be applied on a global scale. In order to thoroughly cover the different aspects of
migration, the following points will be addressed: key definitions which aid in understanding of the
topic; types of migration; the push and pull factors of migration; and the impacts on the source and
destination countries. For the better understanding of this topic it is important to understand the
distinction between immigrant and emigrant, as well as internal and external migration. Immigrant
refers to someone who comes to a foreign country to live permanently, whereas a emigrant refers to an
individual who leaves their home country to then permanently reside in a foreign country. Similarly,
internal migration refers to people within a country moving to another location within its borders (e.g.
from one city to another), whereas external migration refers to the act of migration across borders (e.g.
from one country to another). Now that some key terms have been addressed, the types of migrants
will be illustrated. People migrate to different countries for various different reasons. This results in
the categorization of different migrants in relation to their reason for migrating, whether it be for
social or economic reasons. The types of migrants include the following: temporary labor migrants,
highly skilled migrants, irregular migrants, forced migrants, family reunification migrants, and return
migrants.

3 Pick I Loved Analysis
The Hot List Three Picks I Loved Three Picks I Hated Picks I Loved 1. Mario Hezonja to the Magic
(5th Overall) I absolutely love this pick by Orlando. Every video I ve watched and every scouting
report I ve read, has completely sold me on Hezonja as a legit NBA pro. He has an NBA like
domineer. He s good and he knows it. He has Kobe like confidence, in that he isn t afraid to miss a big
shot. When he gets hot, Hezonja is a lights out shooter. He attacks the rim relentlessly and isn t afraid
of contact. He ll go right at an opposing defender without fear of being thrown to the ground. The
Magic needed a wing player who could score and defend. They got that with Hezonja. He is a perfect
fit and is a great replacement for Tobias Harris. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his introductory press conference, Okafor s body language said a lot about his mindset. He
didn t seem excited or enthusiastic about the idea of playing for the 76ers. In fact, at the end of the
presser he dropped his jersey. He didn t place it on the table like his fellow rookie teammates; nope he
flat out dropped it. 2. Frank Kaminsky to the Hornets (9th Overall) Four first round picks and two
second round picks The Hornets think Frank Kaminsky is worth more than that. I was shocked when I
heard this. How can a team pass up four first round picks for Frank Kaminsky? Not only did they pass
up the picks, but also if they had taken the trade, they would have moved down to pick 16 and
Kaminsky likely still would have been on the draft board. I am still baffled by the Hornets decision to
reject that trade. Not only do I think the organization made a bad move by rejecting the trade, but also
I think, Kaminsky will be a role player at best in the NBA. He ll stick around for a while because he s
a seven footer who can hit a mid range shot. He is a below average post player and he s a liability on
defense. He shies away from contact and according to some scouts is Hard to get along with .
Charlotte needed a big man, but Kaminsky might have been available at 16, but if he weren t, there
would have been similar if not better options to

Winston Churchill Quotes
Winston Churchill was an influential force during World War 2 with all his inspirational quotes. He
had a short but active career in the army and he then became a conservative member of parliament. In
the beginning of world war 2 Churchill held the position of First Lord of the Admiralty and he was
later appointed Prime Minister of England. Queen Elizabeth II after the war knighted Churchill and
President Kennedy gave Churchill honorary U.S citizenship. Going into his past he was the son of
Lord Randolph Churchill and an American mother and he studied at Harrow and Sandhurst. One of
Churchill s many quotes is If you re going through Hell just keep going and that means if you are

Diversity And Diversity Of Diversity
people are the same. Thus, diversity studies would then be reduced to the conclusion that everyone is
different and, if this conclusion is accepted, the concept of diversity may become nothing more than a
benign, meaningless concept (Nkomo, 1995). The danger in narrowly defining diversity, however, is
that only one dimension of cultural diversity (race, age, ethnicity, or gender) is by and large the subject
of research at a time. Since a cultural diversity dimension interacts with other dimensions of diversity
narrow concept of diversity would be deficient by failing to recognize these interactions. Scholars,
who advocate a broad definition (e.g. Jackson, May Whitney, 1995) argue that diversity encompasses
all the possible ways people can differ. Individuals, according to this school of thought, do not only
differ because of their race, gender, age and other demographic categories, but also because of their
values, abilities, organizational function, tenure and personality. They contend that an individual has
multiple identities and that the manifold dimensions cannot be isolated in an organizational setting.
Apart from bringing their race, age, ethnicity, and gender, individuals also come with their particular
knowledge, personality, and cognitive style to the work place. Therefore, in order to understand the
dynamics of a heterogeneous workforce, the interactive effects of multi dimensional diversity have to
be addressed. In addition, it is argued that a broadening

Katy Perry Firework song is a power anthem which plays a huge role when it comes to popular culture
in today s society. It creates an empowering message to women by portraying them as strong willed,
independent human beings rather than the stereotypical portrayal of women who depend on men.
Although in the movie, the song Firework is used as a encouraging anthem to children because it is a
children s movie. In the Hollywood reporter review article it states that the 3d scene helps influence
the song choice because it is a very loud and fun song. The song portrays women to be as strong as
men, although the film i chose doesn t express the song in that way. The song has been known to be

Essay about America s Involvement in the Soviet Afghan War
America s Involvement in the Soviet Afghan War
The worst case scenario for the United States in the late 70s and early 80s was the threat of the Soviet
invasion of Iran and subsequent control of the Saudi Oil fields. The best that could be done to counter
a possible Soviet invasion would have been the deployment of parts of the 82nd Airborne Division to
the Zagros Mountains of Iran, which would take at least a week with reinforcements arriving much
later. This was not acceptable to the Carter Administration, which decided on another course of action
to actively support the anti Soviet Mujahideen freedom fighters in Afghanistan and help protect the
Middle Eastern oil fields. This American involvement in the Soviet Afghan war has ... Show more

(Nyrop, 27) Soviet convoys were also vulnerable due to the surrounding terrain. The roads were very
narrow and steep in Afghanistan. The limited road network, thin, icy air and insufficient armor on
vehicles all slowly leaded to the Soviets demise. There were other reasons for rebel attacks on
convoys. By disrupting convoys, the Soviet outposts were negatively affected, forcing them to
increase their protection; Thereby reducing the number of troops ready to battle rebels elsewhere.
After the Mujahideen cleared the convoy from the few surviving Russians, they would sweep the
convoys of all weapons, food, clothing, money, and other useful items.( Tamarov, 59)
Numerous offensives were very common, most in the early stages of the war. The mujahideen were
also heavily bombarded by massive air and artillery barrages lasting several days at a time. But to the
Soviets disadvantage, the rebels most always had sufficient warning and left before they could
bombard the area clean. When the Soviets left, the rebels would simply return. (Jalali, 77)
To combat the Soviets effectively the mujahideen were in great need of sophisticated weaponry. Many
of the mujahideen were equipped with Enfield bolt action rifles, left over from the previous imperial
conflict 65 years earlier: World War I. (Fortier)
In addition to the Enfields were the captured Soviet weapons, and not to forget the CIA s generous
weapons donations. At that point in time

Communication Failure
Communication is not an easy process. It involves verbal and non verbal attempts to assist the other
person to understand what we are trying to communicate. Yet it often fails.
The communication occurring between two people as discussed in the statement above is known by
academics as interpersonal communication . Interpersonal communication can be defined as a two
way, transactional process in which two people, occupying a shared space, continue to send
information to each other and receive information from each simultaneously. (DeVito, 2008; Firth,
Berry amp; Irvine, 2010; Hartley, 1999). The above statement refers to the process of interpersonal
communication.

Verbal and non verbal messages expressed by should ideally have congruency, meaning they
complement each other (DeVito, 2008; Firth et al., 2010). Incongruent verbal and non verbal messages
often lead to confusion in the receiver, hindering successful reception and comprehension of the
information being communicated and therefore resulting in a failure in the communication process
(Devito, 2008; Firth et al., 2010). Hence, congruent verbal and non verbal messages encoded and
communicated by sender will also aid in reducing the likeliness of communication failure.
It has been suggested that a failure or breakdown in the interpersonal communication process can be
further reduced if both the sender and receiver possess satisfactory levels of what is termed emotional
intelligence (Goleman, 1998; Lynn, 2002). Emotional intelligence may be defined as a person s ability
to recognise, control and evaluate their own feelings and emotions as well as the feelings and
emotions of others (Goleman, 1998). Goleman (1998) states that emotional Intelligence is made up of
five elements, these being: self awareness, self regulation, self motivation, empathy, and the
possession of social skills. Self awareness comprises of: the ability to recognise one s emotions;
awareness of one s strengths, weaknesses and potential; and one s ability to

begin with, in the film Tomboy, Alex is portrayed as a young girl, who enjoys being a saviour, a strong
independent woman who can fight dragons with a sword in her hand and save the princess from
ultimate disaster. Alex challenges the hegemonic model of gender by imagining herself as the warrior;
reason being is that in many or in fact almost all fairy tales, the male figure ends up saving the day

presumed to play basketball, hockey, and soccer and portrayed as someone who enjoys watching
boxing as it can be pictured in the beginning of the short

Why Was The 13th Amendment Important
The thirteenth amendment was the first amendment implemented into the United States Constitution
to ending slavery. The thirteenth amendment states that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,
except as a punishment for a crime of which the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist
within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Library of Congress). Slavery
started in the year 1619 in the Northern American colonies and continued to grow until the nation
became divided between those who supported slavery and the others who did not support slavery
(History.com Staff, 2009). Slaves were beaten, worked to extreme exhaustion, and never given proper
care. Many of these slaves worked the tobacco farms and helped build the economic foundations of
the new nation. While this amendment alone was not enough to completely stop slavery, it was a
commencement to change the future. For every change, there must be a start, and the thirteenth
amendment offered a start to those who endured cruel unequal treatment. This amendment would
establish freedom and would allow Congress the power to define freedom. The thirteenth amendment
was extremely controversial. Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Benjamin Rush were some of the first to form
an abolition group against slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me, this is more than just freeing slaves this was about making sure every human being regardless
of race had equal rights and equal opportunities. While further rights did not happen immediately after
this amendment was ratified it is was the foundation for creating those equal rights for all races.
Moments in history such as this thirteenth amendment is what defines our futures. The constitution of
the United States is what protects our country and our

Traffic Jam In Los Angeles
Traffic Jam in Los Angeles Traffic jams are a case where there are a large number of vehicles close
together and they are moving very slow. Traffic jams have become an issue to many of the cities
around the world, some being known across the world as the traffic jam mysteries, for example,
Mumbai. However, as the time continues other cities have become part of the traffic jam and they are
facing the traffic as a major issue. Although some people support the traffic jam in Los Angeles, there
are many people believe that traffic jam is a global issue, and it causes many problems such as wasting
time, and air pollution especially in Los Angeles. Traffic jams are feared and hate by many due to the
challenges like wasting time. While traveling from one place to the other one always wishes to reach
the destination early enough, but in the case of the traffic jams this usually changes. A person is often
late to work, class or any other place a person was wishing to be. In some of the case, people have lost
their jobs since they could not make it to work on time due to the traffic jam. It is important to identify
that traffic jam in Los Angeles is more of the increase in the number of vehicles (Bento et al. 44). It
has been identified that in the days when the fuel prices are low there tends to be a large number of
vehicles in town unlike when the prices are high. The increase of the motor vehicles and the jam has
led to people engaging into other activities while driving.

Designing A Contractor Management System For A Site Expansion
Design Deficiencies
The following report answers questions on design deficiencies. It will describe three design disasters
and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on future designs. It will then discuss a
design and layout case study and the setting up of a contractor management system for a site
expansion.
Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to
traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built
with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds
but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena,
the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on
November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind
caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge
apart (Britton, n.d.).
Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could
not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton,
n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far
too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton,

Dodecyl mercaptan (NDM) was then conjugated with the PDA film on the mesh through the Michael

molecules to be introduced onto the surface. The mesh can be used to specifically isolate water from
oil/water mixtures with high efficiency, and the mesh can be effortlessly cleansed, stored, and reused.
The mesh has been weaved using stainless steel wires. It has a large number of nanostructured
papillaes on its surface. the nanostructured papillaes get more intensive after the conjugation between
n dodecyl mercaptan present in the oil, and the PDA mesh. The holes has an average diameter of 40

Introduction
G lobal health is an extremely complex ... area of study, research and practice that places a priority on

the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population based

During an intercultural teaching experience in Japan in 2004 to 2005, the author had previous
experience in developing and teaching an international nursing course. These experiences provided
insight into the complexity of global health and the need to bring disparate but related concepts into a
meaningful whole. Redwood Campbell et al. (2011) described an organizing framework for global
health curricula in family medicine. The aim was to identify and incorporate key educational elements
to achieve desired global health education outcomes. Although the framework guides the curriculum
for family medicine, an expanded framework is needed with an interprofessional focus. The purpose
of this paper is to (a) present an organizing framework for interprofessional global health
courses/curricula, (b) describe the primary and secondary characteristics that are distinct to global
health , and (c) discuss how the primary and secondary characteristics are reflected in the organizing
framework.
The Organizing Framework
Recently, there have been recommendations for the incorporation of systems thinking into global
health. Russell et al. (2014) contended that systems thinking offers the principles and methods
necessary to address existing and future health challenges in global health. Thus, there is justification
for using open systems theory as the basis for the organizing framework which consists of input,
process, output, and a feedback loop. The concepts in

Imperial Colonization In China
I believe that Imperial colonization in China is a great idea. For one, China is a very large country
with lots of unused resources. This means that it would be easy for you to find an unused and untaken
area for you to find many resources you need. China has lots of silk, tea, and porcelain and these are
all very popular and much needed resources. Another reason why colonization in China is a great idea
is because it would be easy to get through the government. With China s vast amounts of land and
with such a weak government, it would be very difficult for China to control its enormous territory.
China s government would be too weak to hold back all of the imperialists, so this would be the
perfect area of them to colonize and take what they

  • 2. Radioisotope How many electrons does Mg^(2+) have? A: Magnesium (Mg) has 12 electrons. The atomic number is 12, meaning it has 12 protons. The number of protons is equal to the number of electrons, therefore there are 12 electrons. This ion however has a +2 charge, meaning that it has lost two of its original electrons. This means that Mg^(2+) has 10 electrons. Given that the half life of the radioisotope carbon 14 is 5730 years, how useful do you think this isotope would be for dating bones that are over a million years old? A: This isotope would not be very useful for dating bones that are over a million years old. This is because carbon is in the living plants and animals since they consume nutrients with it and the air they breathe contains it. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oxidation reduction (redox) The process of losing electrons is called oxidation and the process of gaining electrons is called reduction. When transferring electrons between two substances, one always reduces and another one oxides known as a redox reaction. An example of this is H_2+F_2→2HF Neutralization reactions Neutralization reactions involve the reaction of a base and an acid to produce a salt and water. An example of this is HBr+KOH→Kbr+H_2 O acid+base→salt+water For the following chemical reaction: C_6 H_12 O_6+6O_2→6CO_2+6H_2 O+energy Identify The substance(s) being oxidized. A: Glucose is oxidized, as we can see there is no longer any H attached to the carbon and oxygen. It loses electrons therefore is being oxidized. The substance that is reduced. A: Oxygen is being reduced because it gained water and energy will be created in the process. • 3. Invite Three People To Dinner If you got the chance to invite three people to your dinner party, dead or alive, who would you choose? I would invite Jensen Ackles, Robin Williams, and Barack Obama to my dinner party because they re all very humorous and a great inspiration to me. It was a hard choice, but I chose these three people for many reasons. Jensen Ackles is my number one choice because he has been my biggest obsession for the past few years. He is an actor in the show Supernatural, where he plays a character named Dean. I have loved him for a long time not just for his looks, but also for his hilarious personality. He is also very sweet; right now he is raising money for a community support network called You are Not Alone. He would be a substantial person to meet and have dinner with. ... He has many other rolls that are either comedies or inspiring movies. Robin Williams is better known for his comedies, though, like Mrs. Doubtfire. Therefore, to eliminate wind units from the reactive limits check (Qgen at Qmax or Qmin), the dynamics data file has to be loaded and the corresponding dynamic models have to be checked. The units with the any of the following wind generator models were eliminated from the check: genwri, gewtg, gewtgx, regc_a, wt1g, wt2g, wt3g, and wt4g. The names of the dc exciter models differ between PSS®E and PSLF. Hence, for the check on parameter KE in dc exciters, the following models were checked in PSLF: esdc1a, esdc2a, esdc3a, esdc4b, exdc1, exdc2, exdc2a, exdc4, ieeet1, and rexs. PSLF has generator MVA base specified in both the powerflow file and the dynamic data file. All dynamic data is then taken on the per unit MVA base specified in the dynamic data file. In PSS®E, there is only one value of MVA base specified, and that is in the powerflow file. • 5. United Law And International Law Essay Jurisdiction is arguably the most versatile term in current international law. Frequently used in international legal instruments and yet never defined, the term can have different meanings in different contexts. Depending on the circumstances, jurisdiction may refer to the totality of the power or authority that a state has or exercises, in which case it is fully identifiable with sovereignty, another often used but likewise never clearly defined term in international law. Jurisdiction is an aspect of state sovereignty. International law scholars have increasingly taken the view that the term sovereignty means all and only those attributes which are given to a state under international law descriptive of the scope of state freedom as a legal rather than factual matter sovereignty. In this conception does not define, but is defined by the legal powers of a state within an international society of states. It does not exist prior to law, but as a set of attributes of the legal construct that is the state, existing as a consequence of law. As one scholar expressed it, sovereignty is nothing more or less than the legal competence which states have in general. The power of a sovereign to affect the right of persons, whether by legislation, executive decree, or by a judgement of a court is called jurisdiction. The power of soveiregn, therefore to affect legal rights depends upon law; and upon the law must be based all sovereign jurisdiction. Through the concept of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result president Clinton formed the National Church Arson Task Force (NCATF), to coordinate the efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Congress also then passed the Church Arson Prevention Act (CAPA), which expanded the options available to prosecutors when dealing with malicious acts aimed at houses of worship, since NCATF was passed the incidence of arson at houses of worship declined steadily. I who had been in the mess hall having breakfast sat with a group of men, enjoying a warm bowl of oatmeal and coffee. As I took a sip of coffee I felt all my muscles awaken and gain strength ready for what this day would bring me. It was just another day of work, or that is what we all thought. The hall was full of cheerful men laughing, talking, and eating. All of a sudden we heard the sounds of planes racing through the thick air, and the crowd of people grew silent. I looked around as everyones faces grew with fear and confusion, as they ran outside to see what was going on. I looked into the sky and around 183 aircrafts flew through the air. Everyone looked around at each other confused to whether this was a drill or an actual attack. Then Admiral Kimmel ran out of his tent and announced to the U.S Naval Fleet that this was not a drill, but a raid. • 11. Acculturation And Assimilation In The Pity Of It All By Elon Short Paper 1: Acculturation/Assimilation: Gains Over the course of history, the Jewish culture has endured many cultural hardships. When Nationalism began to rise in Europe, the treatment of Jews became harsh. Amos Elon describes this transition for Jews in his novel The Pity of it All. For all their irony and skepticism, the Jews of Germany never ceased in their effort to merge German and Jewish identity...their overriding desire was to be complete Germans. (Elon, 8). The major concerns in Jewish history throughout the ages have been assimilation and acculturation. Acculturation and assimilation are two very important concepts that describe the cultural effects on both minorities and majorities. While these concepts are very similar, there are slight differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One component of our society that demonstrates the concept of acculturation is food. People with Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, and French roots carry their own culture while still accepting the customs in America. In restaurants, the food they serve follows the same traditions that could be found in other countries while still adapting to the language and culture of the whites. While acculturation is more accepting to the majority of society, minorities can still be treated harshly. The Jews, for example, were willing to adapt to the German culture. In fact, many of the Jews loved the Germans and wanted to be one united culture. At the same time, the Jews wanted to keep their religion and some aspects of their culture: The vast majority never hid the fact that they were Jews. (Elon, 8). Some people like Moses Mendelssohn believe that it was possible to be Germans and Jews at the same time. However, the Germans felt threatened by the intellect of the Jews and began to deny them all opportunities to succeed in society. It was rather dark in the bus as I sat there next to other young men looking just as nervous and scared as I was since none of us knew what our ordeal would be for the upcoming 2 months. I was thinking to myself man what the hell am I even doing here? and then without me even paying attention to where we were outside; the bus came to a halt. As soon as the bus stopped this man came aboard and said to all us get the fuck out the bus right now! and all of us got up as quickly as humanly possible and started exciting the bus double time. As we were heading into the building at a rather spry pace, the man kept screaming and swearing at us making us even more nervous for none of us had a clue on what would really be happening in the upcoming months. Line up against the wall recruits is what a man started screaming over and over again as he walked out of this room at the corner of the hall. • 15. Painting With Light By Dante Gabriel Rossetti Essay The exhibition, Painting with Light will be displayed at the Tate Modern in London from May the 11th till September the 25th 2016. To those of you who may see Edwardian and Victorian art as not being particularly exciting, i would encourage you to try and look past this disinterest and get down to see the Painting with Light exhibition. The exhibition impressively manages to capture the development of art during the period in a way of which the disinterest of most is turned into intrigue and knowledge. The exhibition focuses on the relationship between painting and photography, the largely experimental period in which this developed coincided with the founding of the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood. Paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais and John Singer Sargent are included (and personally i believe they are the highlights of the exhibition) are shown side by side with the photos they inspired and of subjects they drew inspiration from. The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was a secret society of the mid 19th century that sought to create a new form of British art. They strived to emulate art from the late medieval period, early renaissance till the of Raphael, striving to convey messages of artistic renewal and moral reform. This theme combined with Aesthetic and Impressionist works gives the richness in culture and a great span in examples that supply ample contextual and visual support for the idea the exhibition is conveying. Based on temperature being one of the only variables, I concluded that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms. The third and final claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. That statement is correct because stronger winds caused the air parcels to rise even higher than it would ve been, which in turn caused more rainfall. Outline the View That Crime Is Socially Constructed Essay This essay will offer different definitions of crime, suggesting that it is a social construction as it varies across culture, time and belief. It will examine the role of social construction, through interpretation and meaning, in the identification, reporting and legal consequences of criminal acts. After illustrating how fear, escalated by the media, can directly affect crime, it will conclude that crime and its consequences are socially constructed. The obvious definition of crime is the legal definition of an act which breaks the law. However, the Oxford English Dictionary extends this to include an act which is ‘injurious to the public welfare An evil or injurious act; an offence, sin; esp. of a grave character (Mooney et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence suggests that the meaning attached to criminal acts influence the reporting, recording and legal consequences. For example, quantitative evidence or data demonstrates a substantial increase in crime until 1995 and an apparent slight decrease since then (Maquire, 1997, p.158). Qualitative evidence questions this by suggesting that crime is greatly under reported for reasons such as the feeling that the crime was not serious enough. In contradiction, Maguire (1997) suggests that there is an increased reporting of crimes, for example, through having greater access to a telephone. In relation to conviction, Eitzen (1986, p.427) demonstrates that white collar crime and street crime carry different legal penalties, thus illustrating the different meanings they hold. Today concerns are often expressed about the increasing magnitude and changing nature of crime, which can lead to the perception that life was better in the past. Geoffrey Pearson (1983) suggests that this is one example in the history of ‘respectable fears which, it is argued, are a result of a decline in the stability of social structures, shared morality and values witnessed in, for example, the increase in single parent families. Cohen (1973) suggests that societies do, periodically, experience these social fears or ‘moral panics when something or someone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Emigrant And Immigrants In The Kingdom Of The Netherlands Over the years, the Netherlands has seen a massive influx of immigrants, both refugees and economic, from all areas of the world. As a result, the current demographic of the Netherlands is characterized by 20% of the Dutch population [being] immigrants or children of immigrant parents (Ersanilli, 2007); thus, for that reason the importance of this topic/problem is further elevated. Coming from Curacao, a small island which forms part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as well as whose economy depends on tourism and permanent migration, it is interesting to apply theories and empirical data to something that I have accepted as the norm. For some, living in a nation state where migration is extremely prevalent might not seem the norm, but for me it is; thus, it is compelling to see how this previous knowledge can be applied on a global scale. In order to thoroughly cover the different aspects of migration, the following points will be addressed: key definitions which aid in understanding of the topic; types of migration; the push and pull factors of migration; and the impacts on the source and destination countries. For the better understanding of this topic it is important to understand the distinction between immigrant and emigrant, as well as internal and external migration. Immigrant refers to someone who comes to a foreign country to live permanently, whereas a emigrant refers to an individual who leaves their home country to then permanently reside in a foreign country. Similarly, internal migration refers to people within a country moving to another location within its borders (e.g. from one city to another), whereas external migration refers to the act of migration across borders (e.g. from one country to another). Now that some key terms have been addressed, the types of migrants will be illustrated. People migrate to different countries for various different reasons. This results in the categorization of different migrants in relation to their reason for migrating, whether it be for social or economic reasons. The types of migrants include the following: temporary labor migrants, highly skilled migrants, irregular migrants, forced migrants, family reunification migrants, and return migrants. ... • 23. Diversity And Diversity Of Diversity people are the same. Thus, diversity studies would then be reduced to the conclusion that everyone is different and, if this conclusion is accepted, the concept of diversity may become nothing more than a benign, meaningless concept (Nkomo, 1995). The danger in narrowly defining diversity, however, is that only one dimension of cultural diversity (race, age, ethnicity, or gender) is by and large the subject of research at a time. Since a cultural diversity dimension interacts with other dimensions of diversity narrow concept of diversity would be deficient by failing to recognize these interactions. Scholars, who advocate a broad definition (e.g. Jackson, May Whitney, 1995) argue that diversity encompasses all the possible ways people can differ. Individuals, according to this school of thought, do not only differ because of their race, gender, age and other demographic categories, but also because of their values, abilities, organizational function, tenure and personality. They contend that an individual has multiple identities and that the manifold dimensions cannot be isolated in an organizational setting. Apart from bringing their race, age, ethnicity, and gender, individuals also come with their particular knowledge, personality, and cognitive style to the work place. Therefore, in order to understand the dynamics of a heterogeneous workforce, the interactive effects of multi dimensional diversity have to be addressed. Hence, congruent verbal and non verbal messages encoded and communicated by sender will also aid in reducing the likeliness of communication failure. It has been suggested that a failure or breakdown in the interpersonal communication process can be further reduced if both the sender and receiver possess satisfactory levels of what is termed emotional intelligence (Goleman, 1998; Lynn, 2002). Emotional intelligence may be defined as a person s ability to recognise, control and evaluate their own feelings and emotions as well as the feelings and emotions of others (Goleman, 1998). The thirteenth amendment states that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime of which the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Library of Congress). Slavery started in the year 1619 in the Northern American colonies and continued to grow until the nation became divided between those who supported slavery and the others who did not support slavery (History.com Staff, 2009). Slaves were beaten, worked to extreme exhaustion, and never given proper care. Many of these slaves worked the tobacco farms and helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. While this amendment alone was not enough to completely stop slavery, it was a commencement to change the future. For every change, there must be a start, and the thirteenth amendment offered a start to those who endured cruel unequal treatment. Tacoma Bridge Collapse Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena, the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.). Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton, ... • 32. The Importance Of Environments In The Environment environment. Another advantage of this machinery is that it is low cost and eco friendly. Recycling of spilled oil and regeneration of the Me CNT sponges is done primarily by heat treatment. After use, the sponges are gathered by magnets, collected and heated (to 493K to release the gasoline vapour or 573 °C to release diesel). After regeneration, the sponge can be reused multiple times for oil sorption. In fact it can be recycled more than 1000 times. Here the TiO2 should be coated onto inexpensive, hollow glass microbeads (averaging 125 pm diameter) which float on sea water and immediately separate. These oleophilic TiO2` photosensitiser coated beads are capable of cleaning up small scale oil spills by  Stripping and aggregating the oil, which is then followed by mechanical clean up  The TiO2 fastening the rate of oxidation of the oil  The beads controlling the combustion of the oil films on water 10. POLYDOPAMINE N DODECYL MERCAPTAN MESH OR PDA NDM MESH A stainless steel mesh is initially covered with the adhesive film by immersion in a concentrated aqueous solution of polydopamine (PDA). Then N Dodecyl mercaptan (NDM) was then conjugated with the PDA film on the mesh through the Michael addition reaction. Now the Polydopamine N Dodecyl Mercaptan mesh is capable of attracting various molecules to be introduced onto the surface. The mesh can be used to specifically isolate water from oil/water mixtures with high efficiency, and the mesh can be effortlessly cleansed, stored, and reused. The mesh has been weaved using stainless steel wires. It has a large number of nanostructured papillaes on its surface. the nanostructured papillaes get more intensive after the conjugation between n dodecyl mercaptan present in the oil, and the PDA mesh. The holes has an average diameter of 40 μm which is why oil can flow easily though the mesh. The basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. An Organizing Framework For Interprofessional Global... An Organizing Framework for Interprofessional Global Health Education Author Name, University Affiliation, Country Introduction G lobal health is an extremely complex ... area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. Global health emphasizes transnational health issues, determinants and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population based prevention with individual level care (Koplan et al. 2009, 3). Beaglehole and Bonita (2010) proposed that global health is a collaborative trans national research and action for promoting health for all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During an intercultural teaching experience in Japan in 2004 to 2005, the author had previous experience in developing and teaching an international nursing course. These experiences provided insight into the complexity of global health and the need to bring disparate but related concepts into a meaningful whole. Redwood Campbell et al. (2011) described an organizing framework for global health curricula in family medicine. The aim was to identify and incorporate key educational elements to achieve desired global health education outcomes. Although the framework guides the curriculum for family medicine, an expanded framework is needed with an interprofessional focus. The purpose of this paper is to (a) present an organizing framework for interprofessional global health courses/curricula, (b) describe the primary and secondary characteristics that are distinct to global health , and (c) discuss how the primary and secondary characteristics are reflected in the organizing framework. The Organizing Framework Recently, there have been recommendations for the incorporation of systems thinking into global health. Russell et al. (2014) contended that systems thinking offers the principles and methods necessary to address existing and future health challenges in global health. Thus, there is justification for using open systems theory as the basis for the organizing framework which consists of input, process, output, and a feedback loop. The concepts in ... • 34. Imperial Colonization In China I believe that Imperial colonization in China is a great idea. For one, China is a very large country with lots of unused resources. This means that it would be easy for you to find an unused and untaken area for you to find many resources you need. China has lots of silk, tea, and porcelain and these are all very popular and much needed resources. Another reason why colonization in China is a great idea is because it would be easy to get through the government. With China s vast amounts of land and with such a weak government, it would be very difficult for China to control its enormous territory. China s government would be too weak to hold back all of the imperialists, so this would be the perfect area of them to colonize and take what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
