Approaching Instruction With Clear Instructional Goals,
Approaching instruction with clear instructional goals, or to borrow a phrase popularized by
Stephen Covey, beginning with the end in mind, not only makes intuitive sense but is well
supported by research. In his 35 years of meta analysis on research in education, Robert Marzano
(2003) identifies a guaranteed and viable curriculum as one of 11 factors with a proven track
record of increasing student achievement. Marzano (2003) defines a guaranteed and viable
curriculum as one in which
Clear guidance is given to teachers regarding the content to be addressed in specific courses, at
specific grade levels.
Individual teachers do not have the option to disregard or replace content that has been assigned to
a specific course or grade level.

State standards alone do not constitute a guaranteed and viable curriculum. State standards
documents typically include
Too many standards: Cynthia Schmeiser, president and chief operating officer of ACT s education
division, commented on the problem of state curricula that include too many standards. She said
State learning standards are often too wide and not deep enough. [High school teachers] are trying
to cover too much ground more ground than colleges deem necessary in the limited time they have
with students. (Olson, 2007, p. 20) 2. Standards that are not of equal importance: ACT s 2005 06
National Curriculum study showed that college instructors largely disapproved of their state s
academic content standards. Two thirds of those who responded said their state standards prepared
students poorly or very poorly for college level work. High school teachers, on the other hand, felt
differently, with a majority responding that their state standards prepared students well or very well
for college level work (Marklein, 2007). Not all state standards are of equal importance, and what
students get tested on may not be what is most important. 3. Standards that lack unidimensionality:
Marzano cites the following 5th grade benchmark from the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics: Develop fluency in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers (p.

B. Dubois And Booker T. Washington Essay
W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington The end of the Civil War was followed almost
immediately by a new wave that would see the African Americans face great suffering and
discrimination. As newly freed slaves, African Americans were presented with a dilemma to either
curve a new niche in a society that once viewed and treated them as mere properties than humans. It
was during these difficult times that two key figures in the African AmericanHistory rose as
paramount leaders of two sharply contrasting philosophical camps. The Massachusettian William
Edward Burghardt and the Virginian Booker T. Washington
, both held two completely contrasting
proposals about the best approach for African American to overcome and thrive in the mist of their
suffering and racial discrimination. Although their approaches greatly differed, both of these noble
men shared a common goal in uplifting the black community in history. The aim of this paper is to
argue in the contrasting philosophies of these two key figures in the history of African America.
Booker T. Washington was born in around 1950s in Franklin County of Virginia and spent the
better part of his childhood as a slave. Following the emancipation, majority of the black
community including Washington ware convinced that obtaining a formalized education was the
best approach to improve their lifestyles and social class. The Blacks had a fairly limited
opportunity to access education due to the prevalence of social segregation.

Morgan Mitchell Biography
Morgan Mitchell The only reason why I am doing all this is because I am running fast. If I am
not running fast, it s not going to happen. Morgan Mitchell, 2016. No need to worry about
running fast, Morgan. I think you ve pretty much covered that one. As bubbly as she is fast,
Morgan Mitchell, age 21, is following in the footsteps of her idol, Cathy Freeman, and running in
the elite 400m and 4x400m relay. Whilst not always associating with her outstanding running
ability, she was always known for her incredible athleticism. As a kid, Mitchell used her inherited
skill from her basketball star father, Walter, and excelled within the game of netball. She was
described as a talented player, who was always full of energy , and pursued the sport all the way
into the under 19 Australian netball squad. It was in the same year that she made the change to
athletics and, as a result, competed in her first World Championship in Barcelona. Mitchell insists

first female 400m race was run. A typical 400m race involves an entire lap of a standard running
track, and requires each athlete to run in separate lanes. The race begins with runners in staggered
positions, so that each athlete is running equal distance, and those who false start twice, or
obstruct another runner from moving forward will be disqualified. As a 400m runner, you require
considerable speed endurance, in order to maintain a high intensity over a considerable distance.
Whilst 400m isn t regarded as a long distance race, it requires a much similar approach, as most
athletes choose to go hard in the first 100m, maintain and build up the pace during the middle

What Is The Mccaarty Case Brief
Assignment I Case Brief: McCarty v. Pheasant Run , Inc.
Prof Lindsey Appiah
Tort Law
October 28, 2012
Summary of Case
Mrs. Dula McCarty brought suit against Pheasant Run Inc. for negligence. In 1981, Mrs. McCarty
was attacked by a man in her hotel room, beaten and threatened of rape. Mrs. McCarty ultimately
fought off her attacker and he fled. The attacker was never identified nor brought to justice.
Although Mrs. McCarty did not sustain serious physical injuries, she claimed the incident caused
prolonged emotional distress which led to an early retirement. An investigation revealed that a
sliding glass door, which was concealed behind curtains, was manipulated and enabled the attacker
to gain entry into her hotel room. Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In regards to the Mrs. McCarty s sliding door, it was equipped with a lock and an additional safety
chain. The safety chain was fastened but the lock was not used. This case had evidence of
negligence but none of strict liability. There were reasonable precautions in place.
Elements of Intentional Tort Tort lawenables citizens to seek reimbursement for loss and or
suffering from conduct that would be deemed dangerous or unreasonable of others (3). Tort law is
non criminal and is dealt with in our civil judicial system. The categories of Tort Law include
intentional tort, negligence and strict liability. An intentional tort case is proved by the plaintiff
showing that the defendant intentionally injured him/her (1). In a negligence case, the plaintiff
shows that the defendant did not act carefully as the law requires and therefore should be liable for
any damages to the plaintiff (1). The strict liability cases occur when a plaintiff suffers damages
even though the defendant acted carefully and with no intent of harm being done to them (1).
During a trial the plaintiff will attempt to prove their case by the presentation of evidence to the
trier of fact. The evidence usually includes testimony of persons involved; witnesses as well as
physical things such as pictures, documentation/records, recordings etc...

Characteristics Of Designer Babies
Science is an advanced subject that has developed tremendously throughout the years. It has let
us do things that no one would ve thought was possible in the past. One of those things include
being able to design our children. So what exactly do you mean by design ? It means that you
can choose specific physical and personality traits for your child.I personally have a negative
view on designer babies. The reasons why is because it is a violation of the baby s right, the
parents would have high expectations for their baby and designer babies are not very affordable.
Designer babies are not so glamorous as the name makes it sound, they re actually quite a hassle.
Designing a baby is a violation to the baby s right. Imagine this, you say to ... Show more content on

For instance, if you design your child to have a more than average level of intelligence but
instead of your child using their potential to be as smart as they can, they choose to not care, not
want to learn, and not want to be as smart as they are capable of being. Now what are you going to
do when your child does not meet your expectations?
Lastly, Unless you have a few thousand dollars laying around, chances are you probably don t
want to invest your money on a designer baby. To want to have a designer baby it means to spend
close to $9000 on an In vitro fertilization with $3,000 to $5,000 of add ons for medication, close to
$4000 for a pre implantation genetic diagnosis and $18,000 for a gender selection. Sometimes even
simple genetic tests can cost over $200. That much money is way over the budget for most people.
To summarize, I do not have a positive view on designer babies. It is violating the baby s rights,
the parents would have some sort of expectations for the child that the child may or may not be
able to meet and designer babies are not affordable for the average family. The research for designer
babies is not a 100% completed yet. We can not predict if they will be a pro or a con for the future.
Only the future holds the truth.

Employment in a Technological World Essay
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that as of September 2011, a whopping 9.1 percent of the
American people are unemployed, meaning 14 million possible workers can t find a suitable job (
National Employment Monthly Update par. 1). Many of the jobs that were once available to
millions have been made obsolete by the creation of new technology. On the other hand,
information and engineering technology have established a vast number of skilled and unskilled
jobs in the business sector and many research fields. The balance between creation and destruction
is applicable to the effects of technology in today s society and has been studied since the ancient
civilizations. With the arrival of new technology every day, there is a constant... Show more content

The familiar connotative meaning of the term centers on the use of machines new lathes, robots,
computers, and the like. However, any better, faster, or more efficient way of producing is a
technological advancement; better knowledge will suffice, even without a new tool or machine.
(2) Even though the most common reason for any person to be laid off is new machinery that can
do there job for them, the simple knowledge of a more efficient strategy for solving a problem is
enough to make any position obsolete. With an ordinary knowledge of these terms, understanding
the effects of technology on unemployment is quite simple. The most apparent issue that
employment faces today is the creation of new technology that crushes the need for many jobs but
it may also result in an increase of job stability and future employment. As new technology is
produced, it often demands an increase in skilled laborers for that firm or sector which eliminates
many professions for the unskilled laborers(Handel 3). To elaborate it is explained that, While
technological advancement over the long run does not lead to unemployment problems, but rather
is the engine for higher standards of living with either more or less employment at the discretion of
individuals, short run problems may certainly arise from technological advancement if there are
imperfections in labor and product

Analysis Of The Employee Rights Act
Many consider ads to be most influential type of rhetoric. City dwellers in the United States
view nearly 5000 ads per day and these highly impact the processes of purchase, decision
making, and even voting (Johnson). A well constructed ad has the ability to change laws. An
example of an attempt to amend established legislature is The Employee Rights Act ( The Bill ).
Through the uses of proper circulation in response to exigency, the built credentials, and form of
the ad, viewers may be persuaded to vote in favor of the bill. Through correct circulation, the ad
will be able to accomplish the majority vote for the proposed bill. The Employee Right Act was
sponsored by Tennessee Republican Representative David Roe, from the Education and... Show

The ad, when placed in a general support area, even with the fallacy, will create a broader
support network. This ad appeals to readers and by being placed in a weekly published
magazine, it will impact voter turnout. This ad, out of several researched, has built the most
credentials. The right half of the ad has listed co sponsors of the bill, of whom include 75% of
Idaho congressmen: Senator James Risch (an original sponsor of the bill), Senator Mike Crapo,
and Representative Raul Labrador, and 2016 Conservative Presidential Candidates: Senator Ted
Cruz and Senator Marco Rubio. Out of the 149 sponsors, all are of the Republican party ( S.1774
Employee Rights Act ). Humans tend to be obedient to fault, especially in representative democracy
, where citizens elect and trust the politically elite. Often Americans vote based solely on partisan
politics. Party labels grant the expected way for the representatives to act ( Political Parties ).
These ways are implied and people tend to vote primarily for the label and in magazines, which are
quick reads and not research databases, these biases are important. With these credentials, the act
may be passed within the near future. This ad has a unique look compared to the majority of
magazine prints. This ad upon first glance may deceive readers into thinking it s an article, which
may draw more attention. The majority of information is textual rather than visual pictures. The

Analyzing The Poem Barter By Sara Teasdale
Analysis In the poem Barter by Sara Teasdale uses the symbol of bartering to represent the
loveliness of life. For most of the poem, the poet shows the things in life that people should be
able to enjoy throughout their lifetime, but to achieve that state of euphoria, a person will have
to go through trials and hardships. Throughout the poem Teasdale uses rhyme scheme adding to
her lyrical tone. Teasdale also uses alluring sensory language to attract the readers, and
exaggerate the beauty of the world. Having the ability to create such a masterpiece, Teasdale was
also able to take that masterpiece and use it to teach a valuable lesson, in which every detail
meant something. The first stanza of the poem starts out by almost as if it were setting the scene
using the sense of peacefulness and admiration to introduce the concept of what Teasdale is
trying to portray. Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves
whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children s faces looking up Holding

spirit and uses the word holy. Both of these lines show the philosophical and psychological
perspective of life s blessings. Focusing on the peace of mind, soul, and the world in general,
Teasdale used this stanza to acknowledge all perspectives of the contentment people should feel at

Second-Degree Assault In Colorado
Sometimes, people in Colorado may get into arguments that become physical. Those who are
involved in physical altercations with others may be charged with assault, which is a serious
criminal offense. State law establishes three types of assault offenses of varying severities third
degree, second degree and first degree.
Assault in the third degree is the least severe of the assault variations. This type of assault occurs
when people recklessly or knowingly cause injury to others. Accidently or negligently injuring a
person with a deadly weapon also constitutes third degree assault, according to the Boulder County
Bar Association.
There are a number of actions, which may be considered second degree assault under Colorado state

Government Structures And Religious Beliefs In Spanish...
Society s norms and expectations more often than not impact an individual s actions and ideology,
whether they are from Ancient Greece or modern day United States. Government structures and
religious beliefs in the society of Spanish Settlers and in early American slavery lead individuals to
judge other races because of the disassociation between two cultures and generalized concepts about
the other ethnic on the basis of hearsay and rumor. The setup of the Spaniard s society and the
American Slave Trade system influences the minds of the individuals a part of them, stemming
from their governments and religions.
In the society of the Spanish Settlers and early American slavery, government structures cause the
settlers and slaves to quickly judge other races due to their lack of association. In La RelaciГіn , the
Spanish Settlers alienation from the natives in America causes the Spaniards to criticize the locals
because of the differences between the two, specifically the contrasts in their governments. ГЃlvar
NГєГ±ez Cabeza de Vaca, as the narrator of La RelaciГіn , says, The islanders wanted to make
physicians of us without examination or a review of diplomas ... We scoffed ... at the idea we knew
how to heal , (Cabeza 78). When the natives tell the Spanish Settlers to become medicine men, the
Conquistadors judge the natives way of determining their qualification. In Spain, one needs

Basques Social Structure
The Basques are people who inhabit a region spanning over parts of north central Spain and
southwestern France. Some people are still confused as to where they have originated from.
Basques are now mainly found in an area traditionally known as Euskal Herria, which is located
around the western end of the Pyrenees on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. The Basques language is
also called the Euskera. The Basque languageis an extremely complex language which has no close

Summary Of The Adventures Of Huck Finn
In The Adventures of Huck Finn, written by Samuel Clemens, Huck Finn learns several
important lessons throughout his adventure. He learns that not everything is right, even if
others believe it is. A very big lesson that Huck learns is that in order to help someone else he
might have to give up something he wants. He also learns that taking from innocent people is
wrong. Huck learns that no matter what, friends will always be there for you. Each one of Huck
s adventures comes with a lesson that helps him mature and grow into the boy he is at the
conclusion of the story. Huck s first adventure is deciding to help Jim escape to the North to
become a free man. Jim and Huck overcome numerous obstacles on their journey to freedom.
While on the raft, floating down the river, Jim and Huck have multiple serious conversations.
One of these conversations is about slavery. Huck is defending white people by saying that
blacks have always been slaves and that is just how it is going to be. Jim then explains, Just
because you re taught that something s right and everyone believes it s right, it don t make it
right. This teaches Huck that he does not always have to follow the expectations of society if he
does not believe they are right. The Grangerfords play an immense part in Huck s next adventure.
Huck and Jim are separated when they have to abandon the raft. While finding his way to shore,
Huck comes upon the Grangerfords land. They are all prepared to shoot a

Population Control In Society
According to Sigmund Freud humans must repress their base desires and freedoms in order to
adapt to society, thus taking away happiness. This could since a functioning society s main goal
is to increase its population as rapidly as possible, so that more work can be done so that more
people can be born and so on, and it achieves this goal in one main. The main way it does this is
by protecting its citizens from threats, internal and external, which would harm the population
causing a decrease in the potential population. Which end up restricting the population. People
must reduce their aggression if they wish to be efficient in society. Society could not work if
large portion of the members of society were murdering continually. If a large portion of people
were murdering continuously then it can be expected that a good portion of the population
would die causing a decrease in the society s productivity. If a decent portion of the population
gets murdered then in the next generation there won t be more people leading to stagnant
productivity. Or If a decent portion of people get killed in the society then the society fails at its
purpose which is to offer protection not only that, bu usually exchange for the freedom of the
people so that people may reproduce. Most people can not help society if they are busy torturing
people this is the case since torturing takes time and effort in order to properly pull off and for
society to be productive it needs people to work which also takes time and effort which means
that most people can t torture and work all while getting appropriate amounts of sleep and food.
And if people were torturing others then a lot of people are not being as productive as possible
thereby reducing the productivity of the population while harming it. Not only that, but then there
are the effects of the torture. If people are torturing people by physical or chemical pain then
there are chances of death, sickness, physical or mental, or debilitating injuries, some of which
could cause sterility, and all of this can lower productivity and go against the main propose of
society. Some Societies make it practically impossible to be a member after being to aggressive.
This happens since people don t

Persuasive Essay On Gun Shootings
n July 18, 1984, eight month Carlos Reyes and his mother, Jackie, was killed by an unemployed
father. Along with Carlos, 21 innocent people were killed at the McDonald s located in San
Ysidro, California. Carlos is the youngest victim to gun violence till this date. His death is the
result of the killer having easy access to a semiautomatic pistol and a shotgun (Berkowitz et al,
2017). Ryan Frazier, the 21 year old husband of Emily Frazier, shot himself with a semiautomatic
gun he bought from a gas station in November 2008 after confronting his teenage nightmare for a
lawsuit. He was molested by a priest and his first time using a gun was to end his own life,
despite having a whole future ahead of him (Drexle, 2016). Carlos and Ryan are one of the many
few that lose their lives from guns. They represent the stories of victims who have died after the
trigger was pulled. With guns being readily available, everyone has the licenses to kill at any point
in time, whether the pain is inflicted on others or themselves. Imagine if these were stories of your
own family members or friends. According to our Founding Fathers, our second amendment should
not be infringed and that people have the rights to keep and bear arms. However, because the
United States is the number one country with mass shootings and suicideis the number one cause of
gun deaths, it is necessary for our second amendment to be infringed and regulated in order to stop
more people from losing their lives. Pro gun

Taking a Look at Virtual Currencies
Virtual currencies such as bitcoin are portrayed as an innovative design in the distribution of money
throughout the world through the use of peer to peer transactions due to it being fraudulent and
impossible to counterfeit. However, bitcoin holders are anonymous and could act in a similar way
to black markets, their bitwallet is unregulated and untaxed. Using bitcoin as a currency also delves
into the problem where users purchase illegal objects and substances anonymously.
Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its
launch in 2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for
potential scams or for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast,
the bitcoin protocol allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference.
The fee for sending bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as
PayPal thus bitcoin is considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is
considered ethical because it is unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted
to remove the issue of fraud and find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining
personal data. This is because traditional transactions require the transmission confidential data,
making data vulnerable to interception by hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). In regards to
bitcoin, only a bundle of characters

In this experiment, the author s focused on understanding stress during puberty and the sex
specific differences of the effects on humans through rat models. As we go through puberty, both
male and females have increased levels of sex steroid hormones. In females this causes levels of
cortisol to increase, as well as the probability of developing a mood disorder relating to stress. Past
studies have shown that this is because of the plasticity of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis
(HPA) axis and the areas of the brainthe regulate mood, such as the amygdala. They supported their

more than just writing the piece FГјr Elise that most of us all know. He composed many songs with
a force that not just every musician has; musical emotion. Each of his pieces captured and held a
story about Beethoven. Did you know Beethoven was deaf? How could a composer, a musician,
a musical genius, lack such an important and valuable sense and still continue to create such
beautiful pieces? What was it like for this musician to have dealt with the struggle of not being
able to hear his own art after a certain point in his life? What are the stories that each one of his
pieces portray about his life? What made Ludwig Van Beethoventhe man we all know him as
today!? Was he a prodigy directly from the womb? No, but not too long after his birth his musical
journey began. December 16th, 1770 in Bonn, Germany the musical genius was born and forever
known as Ludwig Van Beethoven. Beethoven was actually the 3rd Ludwig Van Beethoven in his
family. The first was his grandfather who was a well known musician in Bonn and the 2nd
Ludwig Van Beethoven was Beethoven s older brother who suddenly died only six days after his
birth. His father, Johann, was an extreme alcoholic and would often abuse Beethoven which caused
him to have suffered a very tragic childhood. When Beethoven was 4 years old he first

Lack Of Stability In This Boy s Life
I enjoyed the book, This Boy s Life and I found the lack of stability in Jack s life interesting. Jack
and his mother, Rosemary, move around a lot in the book, causing Jack to never really have a
place to call home. In the beginning of the book, Jack and Rosemary are moving from Florida to
Utah to escape Rosemary s ex husband, Roy. However, Roy follows them to Utah, so Jack and
Rosemary move to Seattle. Then, Rosemary meets Dwight and eventually decides to marry
him. This leads to her and Jack moving to Chinook with Dwight and his children. At the end of
the book, Jack moves to California for the summer to live with his father and brother. After the
summer, he starts prep school at Hill in Washington D.C. Here he gets kicked out his senior year
and then decides to join the army. Each time Jack moves, he wants to start a better life for
himself, but is never able to accomplish this task. I think that the lack of stability in his life, from
moving all the time, is the main reason he cannot change his life around. I believe that adolescents
need emotional support in their lives. Many adolescents get this support from their parents.
However, not all adolescents can talk to their parents about issues they are having. For example,
Jack cannot talk to Dwight because he is abusive and would not listen. He cannot go to his father
because he abandoned Jack when he was young. Jack does not even feel comfortable talking to his
mother because he does not want to burden her with his

Compare And Contrast The Twins Of Siam And The Elephant Man
Comparative Analytical Text Essay
The Twins of Siam and The Elephant Man
Essay question:
People who are physically disabled all lead similar lives.
Do the Twins of Siam and the Elephant Man show this to be true?
The Elephant Man is the true story of Joseph Merrick s life from Tim Vicary s novel. Joseph
Merrick was born in London in 1862 and later, he developed a disease that made him disabled.
The Twins of Siam is a short text about Change and Eng, who were the conjoined twins, born in
Thailand in 1811. These characters in both stories are all disabled and lived in the 18th century.
Even though they all experience physical disabilities, Joseph Merrick s life does not have a lot
in common with Chang and Eng s. While they are all physically disabled and stared at by others,
Joseph s life is more miserable since he suffers more abuse than the twins do. However, Joseph
Merrick and the twins all have some happiness experiences in their lives, but he experiences more
loneliness and misery than Chang and Eng. Although these three men feel frustrated because of
their disabilities, they all find some activities that they enjoy and make the best of their lives.
While Merrick, Chang and Eng are all physically disabled and stared at by others, Joseph s life is
more pathetic since he suffers more abuse than the twins do. Unfortunately, Merrick has been
humiliated and treated terribly by a man called Silcock in his early days, and he has no way of
escaping his miserable life. When

Gender Beliefs Of Gender Bias In The Workplace
Gender Bias in the Workplace
Brittney A. Bray
College of Central Florida
Stereotypes
Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past
decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6%
in 2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the
modern workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act.
When evaluators don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids.
Leading to differences in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on
an unconscious level, though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists
that we routinely categorize individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by
their gender. In doing this we assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or
masculine. Men are expected to have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have
nurturing, submissive qualities. The cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and
organizational policies. Women are most vulnerable to gender discrimination and sexual harassment
when they are in a male dominated environment, they may also be perceived as a threat.
How gender stereotypes put women at a disadvantage.
When woman don t conform to their gender roles they are often criticized. For example; when

Who Is Gregor Samsa s Existential Crisis In The Metamorphosis
At one point in life, we all begin to question the meaning of our existence. Gregor Samsa
experiences an existential crisis in the story The Metamorphosis. Gregor undergoes an
existential crisis as he believes since he transformed into a pest, he can t provide for his family
anymore, Gregor tries to adapt to his new lifestyle, but ultimately can t. The primary outcome of
Gregor questioning his existence leads to him deciding to kill himself and his family deciding
to move on and look for a husband for Grete. Gregor s existential crisis begins when he starts to
think that his life is worthless as a bug. According to Kafka, At the time Gregor s only concern
had been to devote everything he had to allow his family to forget as quickly as possible the
business misfortune which had brought them all into a state of complete hopelessness. And so at
that point he d started to work with a special intensity and from an assistant had become, almost

Gregor? If it were Gregor, he would have long ago realized that a communal life among human

Compare Contrast Tready Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge
The only thing we can be sure about in the Treaty Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge, by John
Taylor and Howling Wolf is that they contain the same overt content that is the peace treaty signing
. (Sayre) How can both artists be so far apart in their renderings and what influences affected their
works? Was it the time between the two artworks, cultural differences, or form?
John Taylor s illustration for Leslie s Illustrated Gazette is more naturalistic than representational
because he was focusing on what he saw in the grove at the treaty signing but ethnocentric beliefs
may have caused him to make the Native Americans look hostile in their facial expressions, with
their bow and arrows at hand. He also portrays them as non descript so you ... Show more content

The lack of scale makes the tipis, trees, horse and Native Americans look about the same size.
Howling Wolf shows the convergence of the Arkansas River and Medicine Creek because that s
where the tribes were encamped and that is his main focus. One big difference between Howling
Wolf s version and John Taylor s version is that Howling Wolf shows a large number of married
Native American women, identified by a red stripe down the back of their heads, at the treaty
signing. They sit with their backs to the viewer, their attention focused on the signing ceremony
before them . (Sayre) This illustrates the importance of women in Native American culture. By
using iconology, Howling Wolf identifies each individual by the symbols on their clothes and
tipis. I believe he also uses iconology when focusing on the grove where the signing took place.
There is a Native American man holding the treaty and crying, an Anglo American holding a pen in
the face of another Native American as if to say, you better sign! Even the Anglo American holding
the horse has symbolism, whereas the horse wants to be freed, but is being held captive.
In conclusion, the time difference between the two works doesn t seem to be a big factor in the
different renderings of the treaty signings because even after that length of time Howling Wolf
seems to remember specific details, even if they are completely different from Taylor s view.
Howling Wolf remembered the symbols worn by the

Colonialism In Africa
By the 1960, most of Africa had become independent from colonial powers who reluctantly gave
them freedom after wars that were gory and unpleasant. Africa had started to build or put together
a government that could hopefully unify the country. African had presidents, dictators, etc. But did
Africa ever really gain independence? Based on who you ask, you will get an answer that can be
separated into different groups, one group will tell you yes and others will say no. At the end of
colonialismthere was never a shift in society in Africa. If you look at the current GDP of most
African countries, the growth of the economy, and then peer at the amount of debt they owe to
the world bank then one can see that things have not changed since the end of colonialism. Africa
shifted from colonialism to post colonialism, however Europe never left Africa formally. And
Africa never really pushed for them to leave due to the structure of colonialism. For instance,
when Congo had gained political independence from Belgium, there were only 16 college
graduates in the whole country. Colonialism underdeveloped Africa, many of the people in Africa
never gained an education. In addition, country lines were created in order for colonial powers to
be able to exert control over a group of people that it had just defeated. Before colonialism, Africans
had city states as opposed to nation states. The economy in Africa was primarily based on trade
between people in the community. Consequently, when

I Am Malal The Girl Who Was Shot By The Taliban

children is truly inspiring. Malala s story draws you in from an account of her birth. When I was

Racism In Master Harold, By Athol Fugard
Racism, the idea of one s race being superior than others is not an idea we are born with. It is an
idea that is taught by the ones closest to us or simply adapted to due to our very own
surroundings. In the play, Master Harold and the boys, by Athol Fugard, the underlying
message of discrimination and ignorance is incredibly evident. The play takes place in South
Africa in the 1950s during apartheid. It was a time of racial inequality and segregation. The play
is a miniature representation of the circumstances happening in South Africa a parallel time. The
very same circumstances that surround young Hally, a white boy, are the very same that
compete with his future. Sam, a black servant, has always been present in Hally s life. Although
many obstacles have tried to corrupt Hally, Sam has always been there to show him a different
side. Hally is optimistic about change but unknowingly seems to block it. Throughout the play
Master Harold and the boys, Fugard transforms objects such as a kite and a bench into symbols
that project a hidden meaning behind them. For example, the kite in the story takes Hally back to
his childhood. As a child, Hally had a root sense of defeat, dissatisfaction, and shame growing up
alongside a drunk racist father. Although, much of what Hally remembers isn t pleasant, there was
a moment that stuck with him; flying a kite. It was made up of scraps and trash that Sam made for
him, he was shocked that a black man could build such a thing. Both

Ionotropic receptors is a binding site that opens when an ion attaches to the binding site. The
ionotropic receptor is also a direct method to the ion channels. Ionotropic receptors has a channel
where molecules move in and out of the ion channel. The ions that goes into the ion channel are
made out of sodium which cause the membrane to become small.
Metabotropic receptors is receptor that is a part of the binding site of a neurotransmitter.

Hospital During The Civil War Essay
At the start of the Civil War, the way hospitals were organized and took care of their patients was
disastrous in every single aspect of its supposedly well thought out system. To be fair, the shelling
of Fort Sumter caught both parties involved quite unprepared for the catastrophic number of
casualties to occur. No military leader or general surgeonhad planned for such a large scale conflict.
Even in times when the war seemed to lull in its rhythmic pace, the Medical Department was
greatly understaffed and overworked. Only 114 doctors served the 16,000 men serving in the U.S.
Army in 1861, mostly in garrison hospitals. After battles, surgeons set up hospitals near the

Today, historians credit Johnathan Letterman for the success of the hospitalorganization during the
Civil War. If it were not for Letterman s plan, then the set up of how hospitals are organized
would not be the way it is today. Hospitals nowadays tend to their patients faster. If patients do not
directly come to hospitals, ambulances are now ready to attend to a patient s needs at any time or

downright terrible and crude. Today, patients are met with comfy beds and clean, sanitary
environments to be treated in. The Civil War was a starting point or trigger for the medical field

The Art Of Andrea Mantegna, The Rebirth Of Art
Andrea Mantegna is the first fully Renaissance artist of northern Italy who was very talented. He is
known for many of his works and is involved in many different artistic periods. His paintings are
beautiful and inspiring.
Mantegna was born in Italy in 1431 to a woodworker named Biagio Mantegna. He started his
mentorship with Francesco Squarcione at age eleven and showed miraculous promise. At age 17
Mantegna left Squarcione because of unfair profiting done by Squarcione on Mantegna s art.
Mantegna died on December 13, 1506 at around the age of 75, but not before marriage, children,
and many magnificent works of art.
The Italian Renaissance period took place towards the end of 14 century AD. The artist declared it
the rebirth of learning. The Renaissance period is greatly known for its artist, such as Leonardo da
Vinci and Michelangelo, and writer such as William Shakespeare.
One of Mantegna s most famous works is a piece titled Crucifixion . This iconic piece is a
painting done by Mantegna in 1458 for the high alter of San Zeno, Verona. The art work shows
three men tied or nailed to crucifixes. In the painting you can see people crying in anguish and
people smiling with glee. When I look at the painting the first thing I see is the three men on the
crosses. I think Mantegna wanted this to be the main focus point. The piece is very straight
forward and easy to understand if you know the story that is trying to be replicated. The art is
about the crucifixion of Jesus

Tristram Shandy Analysis
In Laurence Sterne s Tristram Shandy, Toby Shandy is often characterized as naГ
Їve and innocent,
especially in references to matter of sex. Many, the readers as well as fellow characters, reason
this to be from the injury in which he received from the Battle of Namur . Through an analysis of
the text and research, I have concluded that the naГЇvetГ©, innocence, and other contextual
evidence associated with Uncle Toby Shandy, actually points to Toby being a homosexual. As I
mentioned before, I have developed this theory through research, specifically a piece written by
Jarred Wiehe called No Penis? No Problem: Intersections of Queerness and Disability in Laurence
Sternes The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman and Martin Rowson s factual
evidence found from a Shandean Studies seminar, where it was debated if Tristram Shandy
should be placed within the genre of Gay Literature. In addition, within the text the reader
encounters a surplus of evidence, such as, Toby s modesty, his ignorance of the females and sex,
experiences within the military, his close companionable relationship with Corporal Trim, the
descriptions of his personality and behaviors, such as his Hobby Horse , provided by Tristram
Shandy, and the heterosexual norms and expectations of the setting/ time period. In the beginning
of the novel, I was eager to believe in the explanations that Tristram Shandy was providing for his
uncle s demure nature, such as his injury, but I soon became wary upon further reading. The first
encounter with evidence that causes doubt within the reader of Toby Shandy s true sexual
preference, was his modesty. Tristram describes it as,
More specifically, would be both the situation in which he admits of knowing next to nothing about
the female body or behaviors to his brother, Walter Shandy, and his shyness when mentioning the
affair that Aunt Dinah had. To begin, Tristram s example of Toby s embarrassment of the affair
that happened by a deceased Aunt Dinah, can make some sense if it was in reference to the
scandalousness of an affair , but Toby Shandy is more so offended by the fact that it was something
sexual. Ironically, Walter Shandy, the one who is familiar with the gender behaviors through

very rainy day but that wouldn t stop us. We said our last goodbyes to our loving family
members. There were more tears than the rain. We put our two dogs into the car and then we
sped off . It would be a long journey ahead, and that I would never forget. This part of my life is
similar to what Canadian Goose have to go through every migration period. They leave everything
they have ever known behind and venture off to a remote place. A place that hold strange and
mysterious creatures. For these reasons I choose the Canadian Goose as my second

Mary Shelley s Presentation of the Relationship Between Frankenstein and the Creature
It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. These are the
famous words of Mary Shelley that foretold the birth of Frankenstein s monster. A tale of
catastrophe, love and endless yet hopeless toil; the tale of Victor Frankensteinis a perfect example
of early gothic literature. Born on a dreary summer in 1816, his story has been immortalised in not
only the pages of many books but also on the silver screen.
Like many of its genre, Frankenstein is a terrifically dark yet pioneering story. Its graveyard
settings, the persecuted maiden, and the seemingly forlorn character ... Show more content on

Time and time again throughout the book this is proven through not only Frankenstein s ever
persistent hunting of the creature but also the creatures need to be close to Frankenstein. It is this
relationship that Mary Shelley exploits, through the use of language, which keeps the reader
interested throughout the book.
It is not until the fifth chapter that Frankenstein s lust for the creature, and ensuing obsession for
the gift of life is quite realised. Set on a dreary night of November , as the rain pattered dismally
against the panes , Mary Shelly immediately provides the reader with a classic gothic scene,
readying them for the obvious catastrophes that are about to ensue. The addition of the tension
provided by Frankenstein s comments as he collected the instruments of life around him , and
suffered with an anxiety that almost amounted to agony stand well in giving the reader some idea
of how long this moment has been in preparation.
Shelley goes on to provide a gruesome description of the creature: His yellow skin scarcely covered
the muscles … his hair was of a lustrous black … his teeth a pearly white … these
luxuriance s only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes . It is at this description that
Frankenstein comments of it being beautiful . This reaction could be compared to that of a parent
whose love for their child is so obsessive and

The Way Things Ought To Be Summary
This review is on the book, The Way Things Ought to Be by Rush Limbaugh. The Way Things
Ought to Be was published in 1992 by Pocket Books. Rush uses humor and popular culture to
discuss his opinions of the way the government ought to work. He was one of the nation s most
popular radio stars at the time that the book was published. His radio show went national in the
year of 1988, after 28 years of being a local radio talk show host in Sacramento. Rush then
decided that he would take his conservative, yet sometimes provocative, beliefs and publish his
first book The Way Things Ought to Be. Rush is very intrigued by the way in which political and
social issues affect society. He is very confident in the individuals that make up society. In... Show

I picked a few of what I think are the most important arguments to discuss: abortion, feminism,
religion, environmentalism. These topics are very controversial in today s society. The first
topic is abortion. Rush takes the conservative standpoint of pro life, except in cases of the
mother s life being at risk. He is opposed to abortion because he believes that life begins at
conception. He strongly disagrees with other people s opinions on this topic. According to
Rush, supporting abortion is also supporting crime, illegitimacy, the dissolution of the family,
and callousness of the living. He also says that feminists are the only people to support abortion,
because they want the government out of their womb . Rush even went as low as to compare
abortion with rape. He used the argument that many women rightfully use in support of abortion
it s my body and I have the right to choose what I do with it in order to justify rape. He said, What
if a man claimed the right to rape, using the same principle found in the theory that it is his body
and he has the right to choose? (Chap. 6, pg. 52, Par. 1, Limbaugh). There is most definitely a
difference in rape and having a

The Effect Of The Arab Spring On The Muslim Brotherhood
In this paper, I will be explaining the concept of revolution, its definition, and application in Egypt
and Tunisia. I will further discuss the achievement that took place since the revolutions in both
countries and finally will conclude by demonstrating the effect of the Arab spring on the Muslim
brotherhood.
Revolution tend to occur when the basic needs of a population are not met by its government,
when there is a violation of basic human rights, when there is no hope, when people are oppressed,
when people are at some sort of disadvantage.
According to Steven Pincus, in Rethinking Revolution: a New Tocquevillian Perspective, revolution
can be defined as a rapid, judgmental and violent domestic change in the dominant values and
myths of a society, in its political institutions, social structures, leadership, and government
activities and policies . It is a fundamental change in power: a violent movement to overthrow an
existing regime that results in major changes in the society. Revolutions have occurred throughout
history, but its purpose, duration and method have varied from one country to the other.
No one would have ever thought that there would be an uprising in Egypt against autocratic rule, as
rulers of Egypt were smart dictators who knew well enough how to control their people. The
regime itself provided the calendar day for the day of Rage , where all sectors of the society were
participating. It started on January 25th as a medium size demonstration but

Muhammad Ali And George Foreman
Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Just the thought of these names and everyone who has
watched the historical film When We Were Kings (1996) has flashbacks about Ali s achievements
against George Foreman, how legendary the film and the boxing match that it s based upon are, and
the world wide, life changing events that the film portrays about the two fighters. But there are
some people out there, people such as Rodriguez, who believe that the Muhammad Aliin the film
did not portray his real life self. That he was forced to say what a bunch of white writers put in
front of him to make their movie more appealing to people than historical by showing the
audience a fake image to gawk at and admire while the real admiration is forced to be squelched
inside Ali.
In order to be fair, we need to know the entire story behind When We Were Kings, the fight
between Foreman and Ali before we can say whether Rodriguez is correct with his statement on Ali
s performance. Now the history leading up to When We Were Kings:
One decade before Ali s famous fight with Foreman, Ali, world famous boxer who had refused to
stop boxing to fight in the Vietnam War, was stripped of his boxing title, and was made to suffer a
four year exile from boxing from the United States government, was finally free to box again and
made a celebrated return to the boxing arena. After Ali had finished warming up after his prolonged
break from boxing, he joined in the competition to reclaim the Heavyweight title

Trauma Essay
Development of Systems that Promote Evidence Based Treatments for Trauma Associated with
Child Maltreatment
In 2012, a report by the Attorney General s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence
indicated that over 46 million children residing in the United States were most likely to have their
lives affected by violence, crime, abuse, or psychological trauma in that year (Klain, White, 2013).
The task force recommended that every concerned group serving children exposed to violence and
mental trauma should establish and provide trauma informed care and trauma focused services to
the affected children. The targeted groups include child welfare system stakeholders, professionals,
and advocates concerned with helping these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The function of this model is to improve the process of identifying, engaging, and delivering
services to children experiencing trauma by various child welfare systems. The Institute of
Healthcare Improvement (IHI) created this model with the aim of bringing together subject matter
professionals with application experts to help concerned organizations choose, test, and execute
changes in direct service delivery (Grayson, Childress, Baker, Hatchett, 2012). However, most
agencies have not been able to embrace this change hence making it difficult to translate evidence
into mental health policy.
Failure to Report Cases of Child Maltreatment
Studies have shown that many people fail to report cases of traumatic childhood events to the
concerned authorities. Such activities include child abuse, violence, and other forms of
maltreatment. Research also shows that the reaction of children to trauma differ depending on the
resiliency of the affected child and his or her age. For instance, preschool and young children may
not be in a position to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus
establish great fear in response to trauma. Sometimes, the concern can extend beyond the
circumstances of the traumatic event. Also, the caregivers in foster homes may not be in a position
to notice any signs of traumatic stress in the child. Such symptoms that go

Motif Of Chaos Essay
According to the Webster dictionary , a motif is a dominant idea or literary feature. In the days of
mythological writing, it was not uncommon for many cultures to include similar ideas or morals.
These motifs are three of the main motifs that drew my attention: the motif of chaos, the reason for
more than one god, and why humans were put on earth.
Motif #1: An Explanation for Chaos There are many obvious motifs included in all the myths
discussed. One of the main motifs used in multiple myths was the explanation for chaos. Many
cultures believed that the chaos the gods put upon the people was retaliation of the actions. Another
theory is that the gods caused chaos to show their people that there would not always be all good,
and that good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one god to have to manage the world and care for its people would be a massive amount of
responsibility. As a result, many cultures had multiple creators. Inclusion to this motif would be that
these cultures thought that having multiple gods or leaders in charge would have a better outcome.
The cultures that believed in having shared responsibility were the Incas, the Mayans, and the
Maoriall. In the Inca creation myth, Pachacamac created his wife to help him rule the world. In the
Mayan creation myth, Tepeu and Gucumatz shared the responsibility of caring for the earth and its
people. In the Maori creation myth, Te PЕЌ came from Te Kore to help care for the earth.
Motif #3: Why humans were put on earth In most creation myths, humans were created to care
for earth. It is my opinion that so many cultures had humans created to care for the earth so that
earth could function. Humans were created to Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.
In the Christian Tradition myth, these are the words of God the creator himself. He created man
to care for the earth that He created. Women were made to be man s partner and man was made to
care for the earth or to be a slave for the

Eli Lilly Case Study Summary
The case consists of two major pharmaceutical companies that joint to collaborate their research and

have benefited both companies during the joint venture. Now both are questioning if there is still
any value in maintaining the joint venture in India and will be deciding what will be the best route
to take. Ranbaxy Laboratorieswants to be bought out, but Eli Lilly is worried of the financial
implications of such move. There were two pharmaceutical companies that were looking for ways

Lilly also saw opportunities to use the world for clinical testing, which would enable it to move
forward faster, as well as shape opinion with leaders in the medical field around the world;
something that would help in Lilly s marketing stage. Ranbaxy s R D efforts began at the end of
the 1970s; in 1979, the company still had only 12 scientists. Ranbaxy approached Lilly in 1992 to
investigate the possibility of supplying certain active ingredients or sourcing of intermediate
products to Lilly in order to provide low cost sources of intermediate pharmaceutical ingredients.
The two companies had very different business focuses.
Once Indian JV was formed, they were facing with the following issues. They were new and it was
very difficult for them. They did not have a distribution network and Lilly did not want to invest
heavily in setting up a distribution network.
The employee turnover in the Indian pharmaceutical industry was very high. The first products that
came out of the joint venture were human insulin from Lilly and several Ranbaxy products; but the
team faced constant challenges in dealing with government regulations on the one hand and
financing the affiliate on the other. There were also cash flow constraints. The company lacked in
systems and processes that brought stability to the fast growing organization. They also did not
have in place standard operating

Pathology and Treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
The pulmonary vasculature contains arteries and arterioles, which branch in the lungs to create a
dense capillary bed to provide blood flow. The pulmonary capillary bed is a high volume, low

circulation systems. The right ventricle of the heartis responsible for pumping bloodto the
pulmonary arteryand to the lungs so it can be oxygenated while the left ventricle pumps oxygenated
blood to the tissues. Typically, hypertension refers to high blood pressure in the systemic

Increased levels of pro inflammatory cytokines and chemokines result in an infiltration of
inflammatory cells forming plexiform lesions consisting of T cells, B cells and macrophages
(Savaj et al., 2012). Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a connective tissue disease
characterized by a thickening of the skin. Accumulation of collagen by fibroblasts, platelet
adhesion and a type II hypersensitivity reaction lead to endothelial damage. Endothelial damage
and decreased vasodilatation result in increased arterial pressure leading to PAH (Mclaughlin,
2009). Patients generally have a poor prognosis unless detected early, as a cure for slceroderma
does not exist.
Patients with advanced liver disease can also develop PAH. Portopulmonary hypertension (PPH) is
a combination of high blood pressure in the portal and pulmonary systems. Unless transplantation
can occur, prognosis for these patients is less than ideal. In order to be considered for
transplantation, patients must have a mean arterial pressure less than or equal to 35 mm Hg.
Long term cocaine and methamphetamine abuse have been linked to developing PAH (McLaughin
et al., 2009). Cocaine can cause overexcitement of the sympathetic nervous system triggering an
erratic, potentially severe condition called vasospasm, which involves a rapid

  • 2. Approaching Instruction With Clear Instructional Goals, Approaching instruction with clear instructional goals, or to borrow a phrase popularized by Stephen Covey, beginning with the end in mind, not only makes intuitive sense but is well supported by research. In his 35 years of meta analysis on research in education, Robert Marzano (2003) identifies a guaranteed and viable curriculum as one of 11 factors with a proven track record of increasing student achievement. Marzano (2003) defines a guaranteed and viable curriculum as one in which Clear guidance is given to teachers regarding the content to be addressed in specific courses, at specific grade levels. State standards alone do not constitute a guaranteed and viable curriculum. State standards documents typically include Too many standards: Cynthia Schmeiser, president and chief operating officer of ACT s education division, commented on the problem of state curricula that include too many standards. She said State learning standards are often too wide and not deep enough. [High school teachers] are trying to cover too much ground more ground than colleges deem necessary in the limited time they have with students. (Olson, 2007, p. 20) 2. Standards that are not of equal importance: ACT s 2005 06 National Curriculum study showed that college instructors largely disapproved of their state s academic content standards. Two thirds of those who responded said their state standards prepared students poorly or very poorly for college level work. High school teachers, on the other hand, felt differently, with a majority responding that their state standards prepared students well or very well for college level work (Marklein, 2007). Not all state standards are of equal importance, and what students get tested on may not be what is most important. 3. • 3. B. Dubois And Booker T. Washington Essay W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington The end of the Civil War was followed almost immediately by a new wave that would see the African Americans face great suffering and discrimination. As newly freed slaves, African Americans were presented with a dilemma to either curve a new niche in a society that once viewed and treated them as mere properties than humans. It was during these difficult times that two key figures in the African AmericanHistory rose as paramount leaders of two sharply contrasting philosophical camps. The Massachusettian William Edward Burghardt and the Virginian Booker T. Washington , both held two completely contrasting proposals about the best approach for African American to overcome and thrive in the mist of their suffering and racial discrimination. Although their approaches greatly differed, both of these noble men shared a common goal in uplifting the black community in history. The aim of this paper is to argue in the contrasting philosophies of these two key figures in the history of African America. Booker T. Washington was born in around 1950s in Franklin County of Virginia and spent the better part of his childhood as a slave. Following the emancipation, majority of the black community including Washington ware convinced that obtaining a formalized education was the best approach to improve their lifestyles and social class. The Blacks had a fairly limited opportunity to access education due to the prevalence of social segregation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No need to worry about running fast, Morgan. I think you ve pretty much covered that one. As bubbly as she is fast, Morgan Mitchell, age 21, is following in the footsteps of her idol, Cathy Freeman, and running in the elite 400m and 4x400m relay. Whilst not always associating with her outstanding running ability, she was always known for her incredible athleticism. As a kid, Mitchell used her inherited skill from her basketball star father, Walter, and excelled within the game of netball. She was described as a talented player, who was always full of energy , and pursued the sport all the way into the under 19 Australian netball squad. It was in the same year that she made the change to athletics and, as a result, competed in her first World Championship in Barcelona. Mitchell insists she has a torn love between... The race begins with runners in staggered positions, so that each athlete is running equal distance, and those who false start twice, or obstruct another runner from moving forward will be disqualified. As a 400m runner, you require considerable speed endurance, in order to maintain a high intensity over a considerable distance. Whilst 400m isn t regarded as a long distance race, it requires a much similar approach, as most athletes choose to go hard in the first 100m, maintain and build up the pace during the middle 200m and use whatever is left in the tank to drive it home in the final ... It has let us do things that no one would ve thought was possible in the past. One of those things include being able to design our children. So what exactly do you mean by design ? It means that you can choose specific physical and personality traits for your child.I personally have a negative view on designer babies. The reasons why is because it is a violation of the baby s right, the parents would have high expectations for their baby and designer babies are not very affordable. Now what are you going to do when your child does not meet your expectations? Lastly, Unless you have a few thousand dollars laying around, chances are you probably don t want to invest your money on a designer baby. To want to have a designer baby it means to spend close to $9000 on an In vitro fertilization with $3,000 to $5,000 of add ons for medication, close to $4000 for a pre implantation genetic diagnosis and $18,000 for a gender selection. Sometimes even simple genetic tests can cost over $200. That much money is way over the budget for most people. To summarize, I do not have a positive view on designer babies. It is violating the baby s rights, the parents would have some sort of expectations for the child that the child may or may not be able to meet and designer babies are not affordable for the average family. The research for designer babies is not a 100% completed yet. We can not predict if they will be a pro or a con for the future. Only the future holds the truth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of the jobs that were once available to millions have been made obsolete by the creation of new technology. On the other hand, information and engineering technology have established a vast number of skilled and unskilled jobs in the business sector and many research fields. However, any better, faster, or more efficient way of producing is a technological advancement; better knowledge will suffice, even without a new tool or machine. (2) Even though the most common reason for any person to be laid off is new machinery that can do there job for them, the simple knowledge of a more efficient strategy for solving a problem is enough to make any position obsolete. With an ordinary knowledge of these terms, understanding the effects of technology on unemployment is quite simple. The most apparent issue that employment faces today is the creation of new technology that crushes the need for many jobs but it may also result in an increase of job stability and future employment. As new technology is produced, it often demands an increase in skilled laborers for that firm or sector which eliminates many professions for the unskilled laborers(Handel 3). To elaborate it is explained that, While technological advancement over the long run does not lead to unemployment problems, but rather is the engine for higher standards of living with either more or less employment at the discretion of individuals, short run problems may certainly arise from technological advancement if there are imperfections in labor and product ... For most of the poem, the poet shows the things in life that people should be able to enjoy throughout their lifetime, but to achieve that state of euphoria, a person will have to go through trials and hardships. Throughout the poem Teasdale uses rhyme scheme adding to her lyrical tone. Teasdale also uses alluring sensory language to attract the readers, and exaggerate the beauty of the world. Having the ability to create such a masterpiece, Teasdale was also able to take that masterpiece and use it to teach a valuable lesson, in which every detail meant something. The first stanza of the poem starts out by almost as if it were setting the scene using the sense of peacefulness and admiration to introduce the concept of what Teasdale is trying to portray. • 11. Government Structures And Religious Beliefs In Spanish... Society s norms and expectations more often than not impact an individual s actions and ideology, whether they are from Ancient Greece or modern day United States. Government structures and religious beliefs in the society of Spanish Settlers and in early American slavery lead individuals to judge other races because of the disassociation between two cultures and generalized concepts about the other ethnic on the basis of hearsay and rumor. The setup of the Spaniard s society and the American Slave Trade system influences the minds of the individuals a part of them, stemming from their governments and religions. In the society of the Spanish Settlers and early American slavery, government structures cause the settlers and slaves to quickly judge other races due to their lack of association. • 13. Summary Of The Adventures Of Huck Finn In The Adventures of Huck Finn, written by Samuel Clemens, Huck Finn learns several important lessons throughout his adventure. He learns that not everything is right, even if others believe it is. A very big lesson that Huck learns is that in order to help someone else he might have to give up something he wants. He also learns that taking from innocent people is wrong. Huck learns that no matter what, friends will always be there for you. Each one of Huck s adventures comes with a lesson that helps him mature and grow into the boy he is at the conclusion of the story. Huck s first adventure is deciding to help Jim escape to the North to become a free man. Jim and Huck overcome numerous obstacles on their journey to freedom. While on the raft, floating down the river, Jim and Huck have multiple serious conversations. One of these conversations is about slavery. Huck is defending white people by saying that blacks have always been slaves and that is just how it is going to be. Jim then explains, Just because you re taught that something s right and everyone believes it s right, it don t make it right. This teaches Huck that he does not always have to follow the expectations of society if he does not believe they are right. The Grangerfords play an immense part in Huck s next adventure. • 14. Population Control In Society According to Sigmund Freud humans must repress their base desires and freedoms in order to adapt to society, thus taking away happiness. This could since a functioning society s main goal is to increase its population as rapidly as possible, so that more work can be done so that more people can be born and so on, and it achieves this goal in one main. The main way it does this is by protecting its citizens from threats, internal and external, which would harm the population causing a decrease in the potential population. Which end up restricting the population. People must reduce their aggression if they wish to be efficient in society. Society could not work if large portion of the members of society were murdering continually. If a large portion of people were murdering continuously then it can be expected that a good portion of the population would die causing a decrease in the society s productivity. If a decent portion of the population gets murdered then in the next generation there won t be more people leading to stagnant productivity. Or If a decent portion of people get killed in the society then the society fails at its purpose which is to offer protection not only that, bu usually exchange for the freedom of the people so that people may reproduce. Most people can not help society if they are busy torturing people this is the case since torturing takes time and effort in order to properly pull off and for society to be productive it needs people to work which also takes time and effort which means that most people can t torture and work all while getting appropriate amounts of sleep and food. And if people were torturing others then a lot of people are not being as productive as possible thereby reducing the productivity of the population while harming it. Not only that, but then there are the effects of the torture. If people are torturing people by physical or chemical pain then there are chances of death, sickness, physical or mental, or debilitating injuries, some of which could cause sterility, and all of this can lower productivity and go against the main propose of society. Some Societies make it practically impossible to be a member after being to aggressive. This happens since people don t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Along with Carlos, 21 innocent people were killed at the McDonald s located in San Ysidro, California. Carlos is the youngest victim to gun violence till this date. His death is the result of the killer having easy access to a semiautomatic pistol and a shotgun (Berkowitz et al, 2017). Ryan Frazier, the 21 year old husband of Emily Frazier, shot himself with a semiautomatic gun he bought from a gas station in November 2008 after confronting his teenage nightmare for a lawsuit. He was molested by a priest and his first time using a gun was to end his own life, despite having a whole future ahead of him (Drexle, 2016). Carlos and Ryan are one of the many few that lose their lives from guns. They represent the stories of victims who have died after the trigger was pulled. With guns being readily available, everyone has the licenses to kill at any point in time, whether the pain is inflicted on others or themselves. Imagine if these were stories of your own family members or friends. According to our Founding Fathers, our second amendment should not be infringed and that people have the rights to keep and bear arms. However, because the United States is the number one country with mass shootings and suicideis the number one cause of gun deaths, it is necessary for our second amendment to be infringed and regulated in order to stop more people from losing their lives. Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its launch in 2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for potential scams or for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast, the bitcoin protocol allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference. The fee for sending bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as PayPal thus bitcoin is considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is considered ethical because it is unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted to remove the issue of fraud and find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining personal data. This is because traditional transactions require the transmission confidential data, making data vulnerable to interception by hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). Understanding Stress During Puberty In this experiment, the author s focused on understanding stress during puberty and the sex specific differences of the effects on humans through rat models. As we go through puberty, both male and females have increased levels of sex steroid hormones. In females this causes levels of cortisol to increase, as well as the probability of developing a mood disorder relating to stress. Past studies have shown that this is because of the plasticity of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) axis and the areas of the brainthe regulate mood, such as the amygdala. They supported their previous claim with an experiment that was done on rats where they were subjected to stressful events, known as juvenile social subjugation (JSS), and... The control group of sections of brains was incubated for 2 hours in 0.2nm 125I Sanguine. They were washed then exposed to Kodak Biomax MR film. Next, they calculated the receptor binding density and background measurements of the lateral dorsal thalamus and the dorsal striatum. They compared between subject with sexand age, as well as the effects of age within each sex and sex within each age. Results Overall the Basolateral Nucleus of the Amgdala (BLA) was the primary location for the expression of CRF1 binding and the MePV was the secondary location for binding. CRF2 expression in the MePV was not as intense as that of the CRF1 receptor. The MePD had less expression of both types of CRF receptor and no expression in the CeA. They found intense expression of CRF2 receptor in the cortical nucleus of the amygdala and choroid plexus. Each hemisphere of the brain had no significant difference in the binding of both types of CRF receptors. Figure 2 shows that in the binding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The History Of Ludwig Van Beethoven The History of Ludwig Van Beethoven One of the world s most fascinating classical German music composers, Ludwig Van Beethoven was more than just a man playing on the piano. Famous for more than just writing the piece FГјr Elise that most of us all know. He composed many songs with a force that not just every musician has; musical emotion. Each of his pieces captured and held a story about Beethoven. Did you know Beethoven was deaf? How could a composer, a musician, a musical genius, lack such an important and valuable sense and still continue to create such beautiful pieces? What was it like for this musician to have dealt with the struggle of not being able to hear his own art after a certain point in his life? What are the stories that each one of his pieces portray about his life? What made Ludwig Van Beethoventhe man we all know him as today!? Was he a prodigy directly from the womb? No, but not too long after his birth his musical journey began. December 16th, 1770 in Bonn, Germany the musical genius was born and forever known as Ludwig Van Beethoven. Beethoven was actually the 3rd Ludwig Van Beethoven in his family. The first was his grandfather who was a well known musician in Bonn and the 2nd Ludwig Van Beethoven was Beethoven s older brother who suddenly died only six days after his birth. His father, Johann, was an extreme alcoholic and would often abuse Beethoven which caused him to have suffered a very tragic childhood. When Beethoven was 4 years old he first ... Jack and his mother, Rosemary, move around a lot in the book, causing Jack to never really have a place to call home. In the beginning of the book, Jack and Rosemary are moving from Florida to Utah to escape Rosemary s ex husband, Roy. However, Roy follows them to Utah, so Jack and Rosemary move to Seattle. Then, Rosemary meets Dwight and eventually decides to marry him. This leads to her and Jack moving to Chinook with Dwight and his children. At the end of the book, Jack moves to California for the summer to live with his father and brother. After the summer, he starts prep school at Hill in Washington D.C. Here he gets kicked out his senior year and then decides to join the army. Each time Jack moves, he wants to start a better life for himself, but is never able to accomplish this task. I think that the lack of stability in his life, from moving all the time, is the main reason he cannot change his life around. I believe that adolescents need emotional support in their lives. Many adolescents get this support from their parents. However, not all adolescents can talk to their parents about issues they are having. For example, Jack cannot talk to Dwight because he is abusive and would not listen. He cannot go to his father because he abandoned Jack when he was young. Compare And Contrast The Twins Of Siam And The Elephant Man Comparative Analytical Text Essay The Twins of Siam and The Elephant Man Essay question: People who are physically disabled all lead similar lives. Do the Twins of Siam and the Elephant Man show this to be true? The Elephant Man is the true story of Joseph Merrick s life from Tim Vicary s novel. Joseph Merrick was born in London in 1862 and later, he developed a disease that made him disabled. The Twins of Siam is a short text about Change and Eng, who were the conjoined twins, born in Thailand in 1811. These characters in both stories are all disabled and lived in the 18th century. Even though they all experience physical disabilities, Joseph Merrick s life does not have a lot in common with Chang and Eng s. While they are all physically disabled and stared at by others, Joseph s life is more miserable since he suffers more abuse than the twins do. However, Joseph Merrick and the twins all have some happiness experiences in their lives, but he experiences more loneliness and misery than Chang and Eng. Although these three men feel frustrated because of their disabilities, they all find some activities that they enjoy and make the best of their lives. While Merrick, Chang and Eng are all physically disabled and stared at by others, Joseph s life is more pathetic since he suffers more abuse than the twins do. Unfortunately, Merrick has been humiliated and treated terribly by a man called Silcock in his early days, and he has no way of escaping his miserable life. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bray College of Central Florida Stereotypes Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6% in 2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the modern workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act. When evaluators don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids. Leading to differences in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on an unconscious level, though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists that we routinely categorize individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by their gender. In doing this we assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or masculine. Men are expected to have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have nurturing, submissive qualities. The cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and organizational policies. The primary outcome of Gregor questioning his existence leads to him deciding to kill himself and his family deciding to move on and look for a husband for Grete. (Sayre) How can both artists be so far apart in their renderings and what influences affected their works? Was it the time between the two artworks, cultural differences, or form? John Taylor s illustration for Leslie s Illustrated Gazette is more naturalistic than representational because he was focusing on what he saw in the grove at the treaty signing but ethnocentric beliefs may have caused him to make the Native Americans look hostile in their facial expressions, with their bow and arrows at hand. Howling Wolf shows the convergence of the Arkansas River and Medicine Creek because that s where the tribes were encamped and that is his main focus. One big difference between Howling Wolf s version and John Taylor s version is that Howling Wolf shows a large number of married Native American women, identified by a red stripe down the back of their heads, at the treaty signing. They sit with their backs to the viewer, their attention focused on the signing ceremony before them . (Sayre) This illustrates the importance of women in Native American culture. By using iconology, Howling Wolf identifies each individual by the symbols on their clothes and tipis. I believe he also uses iconology when focusing on the grove where the signing took place. There is a Native American man holding the treaty and crying, an Anglo American holding a pen in the face of another Native American as if to say, you better sign! Even the Anglo American holding the horse has symbolism, whereas the horse wants to be freed, but is being held captive. In conclusion, the time difference between the two works doesn t seem to be a big factor in the different renderings of the treaty signings because even after that length of time Howling Wolf seems to remember specific details, even if they are completely different from Taylor s view. Africa had started to build or put together a government that could hopefully unify the country. African had presidents, dictators, etc. But did Africa ever really gain independence? Based on who you ask, you will get an answer that can be separated into different groups, one group will tell you yes and others will say no. At the end of colonialismthere was never a shift in society in Africa. If you look at the current GDP of most African countries, the growth of the economy, and then peer at the amount of debt they owe to the world bank then one can see that things have not changed since the end of colonialism. Africa shifted from colonialism to post colonialism, however Europe never left Africa formally. And Africa never really pushed for them to leave due to the structure of colonialism. For instance, when Congo had gained political independence from Belgium, there were only 16 college graduates in the whole country. Colonialism underdeveloped Africa, many of the people in Africa never gained an education. In addition, country lines were created in order for colonial powers to be able to exert control over a group of people that it had just defeated. It is an idea that is taught by the ones closest to us or simply adapted to due to our very own surroundings. In the play, Master Harold and the boys, by Athol Fugard, the underlying message of discrimination and ignorance is incredibly evident. The play takes place in South Africa in the 1950s during apartheid. It was a time of racial inequality and segregation. The play is a miniature representation of the circumstances happening in South Africa a parallel time. The very same circumstances that surround young Hally, a white boy, are the very same that compete with his future. Sam, a black servant, has always been present in Hally s life. Although many obstacles have tried to corrupt Hally, Sam has always been there to show him a different side. Hally is optimistic about change but unknowingly seems to block it. Throughout the play Master Harold and the boys, Fugard transforms objects such as a kite and a bench into symbols that project a hidden meaning behind them. For example, the kite in the story takes Hally back to his childhood. As a child, Hally had a root sense of defeat, dissatisfaction, and shame growing up alongside a drunk racist father. If patients do not directly come to hospitals, ambulances are now ready to attend to a patient s needs at any time or any day. Treatment also improved. The conditions in which surgerywas performed in was downright terrible and crude. Today, patients are met with comfy beds and clean, sanitary environments to be treated in. The Civil War was a starting point or trigger for the medical field to improve upon their work and set up an organized and knowledgeable field of medicine for future generations to come. Overall, the Civil War made the hospital system more organized and allowed for patients to access care more quickly and efficiently and set the precedents for future aspiring doctors to follow in order to care for patients and give them the treatment they ... • 38. The Art Of Andrea Mantegna, The Rebirth Of Art Andrea Mantegna is the first fully Renaissance artist of northern Italy who was very talented. He is known for many of his works and is involved in many different artistic periods. His paintings are beautiful and inspiring. Mantegna was born in Italy in 1431 to a woodworker named Biagio Mantegna. He started his mentorship with Francesco Squarcione at age eleven and showed miraculous promise. At age 17 Mantegna left Squarcione because of unfair profiting done by Squarcione on Mantegna s art. Mantegna died on December 13, 1506 at around the age of 75, but not before marriage, children, and many magnificent works of art. The Italian Renaissance period took place towards the end of 14 century AD. The artist declared it the rebirth of learning. The Renaissance period is greatly known for its artist, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, and writer such as William Shakespeare. One of Mantegna s most famous works is a piece titled Crucifixion . This iconic piece is a painting done by Mantegna in 1458 for the high alter of San Zeno, Verona. The art work shows three men tied or nailed to crucifixes. In the painting you can see people crying in anguish and people smiling with glee. When I look at the painting the first thing I see is the three men on the crosses. I think Mantegna wanted this to be the main focus point. The piece is very straight forward and easy to understand if you know the story that is trying to be replicated. The art is about the crucifixion of Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Tristram Shandy Analysis In Laurence Sterne s Tristram Shandy, Toby Shandy is often characterized as naГ Їve and innocent, especially in references to matter of sex. Many, the readers as well as fellow characters, reason this to be from the injury in which he received from the Battle of Namur . Through an analysis of the text and research, I have concluded that the naГЇvetГ©, innocence, and other contextual evidence associated with Uncle Toby Shandy, actually points to Toby being a homosexual. As I mentioned before, I have developed this theory through research, specifically a piece written by Jarred Wiehe called No Penis? No Problem: Intersections of Queerness and Disability in Laurence Sternes The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman and Martin Rowson s factual evidence found from a Shandean Studies seminar, where it was debated if Tristram Shandy should be placed within the genre of Gay Literature. In addition, within the text the reader encounters a surplus of evidence, such as, Toby s modesty, his ignorance of the females and sex, experiences within the military, his close companionable relationship with Corporal Trim, the descriptions of his personality and behaviors, such as his Hobby Horse , provided by Tristram Shandy, and the heterosexual norms and expectations of the setting/ time period. In the beginning of the novel, I was eager to believe in the explanations that Tristram Shandy was providing for his uncle s demure nature, such as his injury, but I soon became wary upon further reading. The first encounter with evidence that causes doubt within the reader of Toby Shandy s true sexual preference, was his modesty. Tristram describes it as, More specifically, would be both the situation in which he admits of knowing next to nothing about the female body or behaviors to his brother, Walter Shandy, and his shyness when mentioning the affair that Aunt Dinah had. To begin, Tristram s example of Toby s embarrassment of the affair that happened by a deceased Aunt Dinah, can make some sense if it was in reference to the scandalousness of an affair , but Toby Shandy is more so offended by the fact that it was something sexual. Ironically, Walter Shandy, the one who is familiar with the gender behaviors through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mary Shelley s Presentation of the Relationship Between Frankenstein and the Creature It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. These are the famous words of Mary Shelley that foretold the birth of Frankenstein s monster. A tale of catastrophe, love and endless yet hopeless toil; the tale of Victor Frankensteinis a perfect example of early gothic literature. Born on a dreary summer in 1816, his story has been immortalised in not only the pages of many books but also on the silver screen. Like many of its genre, Frankenstein is a terrifically dark yet pioneering story. Its graveyard settings, the persecuted maiden, and the seemingly forlorn character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Time and time again throughout the book this is proven through not only Frankenstein s ever persistent hunting of the creature but also the creatures need to be close to Frankenstein. It is this relationship that Mary Shelley exploits, through the use of language, which keeps the reader interested throughout the book. It is not until the fifth chapter that Frankenstein s lust for the creature, and ensuing obsession for the gift of life is quite realised. Set on a dreary night of November , as the rain pattered dismally against the panes , Mary Shelly immediately provides the reader with a classic gothic scene, readying them for the obvious catastrophes that are about to ensue. The addition of the tension provided by Frankenstein s comments as he collected the instruments of life around him , and suffered with an anxiety that almost amounted to agony stand well in giving the reader some idea of how long this moment has been in preparation. Shelley goes on to provide a gruesome description of the creature: His yellow skin scarcely covered the muscles … his hair was of a lustrous black … his teeth a pearly white … these luxuriance s only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes . It is at this description that Frankenstein comments of it being beautiful . This reaction could be compared to that of a parent whose love for their child is so obsessive and ... Rush uses humor and popular culture to discuss his opinions of the way the government ought to work. He was one of the nation s most popular radio stars at the time that the book was published. His radio show went national in the year of 1988, after 28 years of being a local radio talk show host in Sacramento. The first topic is abortion. Rush takes the conservative standpoint of pro life, except in cases of the mother s life being at risk. He is opposed to abortion because he believes that life begins at conception. He strongly disagrees with other people s opinions on this topic. According to Rush, supporting abortion is also supporting crime, illegitimacy, the dissolution of the family, and callousness of the living. He also says that feminists are the only people to support abortion, because they want the government out of their womb . Rush even went as low as to compare abortion with rape. He used the argument that many women rightfully use in support of abortion it s my body and I have the right to choose what I do with it in order to justify rape. He said, What if a man claimed the right to rape, using the same principle found in the theory that it is his body and he has the right to choose? (Chap. 6, pg. 52, Par. 1, Limbaugh). • 45. The Effect Of The Arab Spring On The Muslim Brotherhood In this paper, I will be explaining the concept of revolution, its definition, and application in Egypt and Tunisia. I will further discuss the achievement that took place since the revolutions in both countries and finally will conclude by demonstrating the effect of the Arab spring on the Muslim brotherhood. Revolution tend to occur when the basic needs of a population are not met by its government, when there is a violation of basic human rights, when there is no hope, when people are oppressed, when people are at some sort of disadvantage. According to Steven Pincus, in Rethinking Revolution: a New Tocquevillian Perspective, revolution can be defined as a rapid, judgmental and violent domestic change in the dominant values and myths of a society, in its political institutions, social structures, leadership, and government activities and policies . It is a fundamental change in power: a violent movement to overthrow an existing regime that results in major changes in the society. Revolutions have occurred throughout history, but its purpose, duration and method have varied from one country to the other. No one would have ever thought that there would be an uprising in Egypt against autocratic rule, as rulers of Egypt were smart dictators who knew well enough how to control their people. The regime itself provided the calendar day for the day of Rage , where all sectors of the society were participating. It started on January 25th as a medium size demonstration but ... The Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) created this model with the aim of bringing together subject matter professionals with application experts to help concerned organizations choose, test, and execute changes in direct service delivery (Grayson, Childress, Baker, Hatchett, 2012). However, most agencies have not been able to embrace this change hence making it difficult to translate evidence into mental health policy. Failure to Report Cases of Child Maltreatment Studies have shown that many people fail to report cases of traumatic childhood events to the concerned authorities. Such activities include child abuse, violence, and other forms of maltreatment. Research also shows that the reaction of children to trauma differ depending on the resiliency of the affected child and his or her age. For instance, preschool and young children may not be in a position to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus establish great fear in response to trauma. Sometimes, the concern can extend beyond the circumstances of the traumatic event. Also, the caregivers in foster homes may not be in a position to notice any signs of traumatic stress in the child. In the days of mythological writing, it was not uncommon for many cultures to include similar ideas or morals. These motifs are three of the main motifs that drew my attention: the motif of chaos, the reason for more than one god, and why humans were put on earth. Motif #1: An Explanation for Chaos There are many obvious motifs included in all the myths discussed. One of the main motifs used in multiple myths was the explanation for chaos. In the Mayan creation myth, Tepeu and Gucumatz shared the responsibility of caring for the earth and its people. In the Maori creation myth, Te PЕЌ came from Te Kore to help care for the earth. Motif #3: Why humans were put on earth In most creation myths, humans were created to care for earth.
