Compare And Contrast Richard The Lionheart And Saladin
Richard the Lionheart who led the Third Crusade, ended up making a deal with the opposing
leader, Saladin. Both leaders were capable of cruel doings but they had a sort of respect each other
as when Richard lost his horse in battle, Saladin sent a replacement. Every time Richard the
Lionheart and his troops moved inland towards Jerusalem Saladin s army would circle round them
cutting them off from their supplies. Eventually they agreed to a treaty that allowed Christian
pilgrims to enter Jerusalem and leave unharmed but it stayed under Muslim control, they both
signed the treaty and the fight was over.
Even with the treaty the Christians didn t like that Jerusalem was run by a Muslim leader. In 1202,
Pope Innocent III called for another Crusade

Breast Enlargement Research Paper
Breast Enlargement 5 Non Surgical Alternatives
Summary: A lot of options can be considered over surgery for breast enlargement. The popular
altenatives include Enlargement pumps, Fat transfer, Contouring among others.
No one but women understand the need and importance for breast enlargement. Some do it to
shape their personality while some do it in order to appear in a particular way. Whatever be the
reason, all women should understand the health risks surgical breast enhancement procedures may
carry. Non Surgical Procedures are always favoured over surgical augmentation procedures. The
primary alternative to a surgery or implant include the following.
Enlargement Pumps
The expansion of breast tissue is a favourable way of increasing breast size. Breast Enlargement
takes place as a result of the pumps acting as a suction on the tissues. This encourages enhanced
blood flow and increases the possibility of increased tissue growth. This helps in breast
enhancement as they increase in size. However a lot of endurance is needed to reap rewards from
this process as extensive and motivated use in the pertinent way is required over a minimum period
of three months. Results cannot be anticipated over night.
Fat Transfer
This is one of the most popular breast enlargement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As unorthodox as it sounds, make up can be used to give a whole new appearance to the breasts
as well. The objective is to disguise the breast look by creating an effective optical illusion in
order to make the breasts look in a particular way. The aspects of light and shadow can be used in
complimenting proportions in order to make breasts seem larger or smaller than they actually are.
A shadowing effect can be brought about with the help of a bronzer that makes the dark area look
farther from actual. Make up can also be used to make the shaded area appear closer. Thus,
effective contouring can help in providing breasts a more enhanced

The Benefits Of Medical Marijuana
Many people don t know what Marijuana is, to clarify what it is, it is a dried bud, occasionally
considered cannabis with a natural dust called THC on the plant. THC is the particle that causes
reactions to the body. Another thing people at times don t comprehend correctly is that the
medical use of marijuana and the recreational use is totally different. The medical use of
marijuana is recommended by a doctor in the treatment of a medical condition such as cancers,
HIV/AIDS, Epilepsy, and many other conditions. The recreational use of marijuana is
considered a misused drug; its use is for a high that is not recommended by a doctor, so it is
illegal, sold in the black market trade. Knowing medicals marijuana purpose, it should be
legalized for its medical use only for the soul purpose to help and provide relief to the hurt and
/or sick. Medical marijuana use may provide relief and/or help to many ill people; marijuana s
medical use is the new natural drug that can help with more than one problem as in many other
drugs also do. Medical marijuana is a highly used substance that has been used for millennia and
it is here to stay whether it is legal or not (Newton 137). It is told that marijuana will never truly
go away. People need to create legal ways for the sale of marijuana so it can be used as a medical
herb without the common threat of legal consequences (129). Saying that more and more countries
/ states are legalizing the use and/ or sale of medical marijuana. In fact,

Like many other Harlem Renaissance artist, Archibald Motley Jr., was not from Harlem. He was
born in New Orleans, Louisiana and spent most of his life in Chicago. Motley s family lived in a
quiet neighborhood on Chicago s Southside in an environment that was easily open minded.
According to the Area of Design Museum, Motley did not spend much of his time growing up
around blacks, because it was a disconnection throughout the community around him that
established Motley as an outsider. Motley himself was light skinned and mixed with European
American. (Area of Design)

Powell, a professor of art and art history at Duke University, calls Motley a pioneering provocateur
who experimented with color and movement while dealing with subject matter that might have
been considered politically incorrect. (Appleford) The figures in Motley s work were always
hurrying, gesturing, or going someplace. Throughout his career, Motley showed interest in
capturing natural light and producing artificial light, especially in night scenes. His most infamous
painting, Night Life depicted the African Americanculture in his work. It portrayed young,
sophisticated city residents out on town. Nightlife is a distinct view of a dancehall in the
Chicago Southside neighborhood, people are seated around tables on the right and left at a bar.
The clock reads one o clock, yet the place is still jumping with drinkers and dancers. Two
bartenders serve customers and replace the plentiful display of liquor, and a number of couples
dance energetically in the background to music provided by the jukebox.
Motley unified the composition through his use of repeated forms and a pervasive burgundy tone
that bathes the entire scene in intense, unnatural light. (Powell 2) The vibrant composition and
sharp colors vividly express the liveliness of the scene, making Nightlife one of Motley s most

Analysis Of The Poem The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
T.S. Eliot s poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, illustrates the poet s fear of the
fragmentation of modern society. In the poem, Eliot creates the persona of his speaker, J. Alfred
Prufrock. Prufrock is speaking to an unknown listener. The persona of Prufrock is Eliot s
interpretation of Western society and its impotency at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. His
views are modernistic, which idolize the classical forms while incorporating new ideas about
psychology and the subconscious. Eliot illustrates his contempt for the faithlessness of modern
society by illustrating its fragmentation with synecdoche, characterization of Prufrock, and allusions
to literary traditions throughout the narrative. In his poem, Eliot illustrates his view of a great
tradition that he is witnessing as it falls apart.
Throughout The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Eliot illustrates fragmentation by using
synecdoche to illustrate his fear of a societal breakdown. Synecdoche is a figure of speech in which
a part stands for the whole; Eliot, through this use of parts in place of wholes, represents Eliot s
view on the broken, chaotic world. Throughout the poem, Eliot uses faces, hands, arms, chins,
arms...downed with light brown hair, fingers, and the head, yet he never describes a whole human.
The central human Prufrock imagines is potentially the woman whom he hopes to talk to that
evening. Eliot writes of this mystery woman, Arms that are braceleted and white and

Greek Tragedies in a Modern World Essay
Greek Tragedies in a Modern World
*Works Cited Not Included
From the times of Aristotle to modern day Boal people have tried to come up with a definition of
tragedy that encompasses all of the works they feel to be tragedies. However, there are always a
few exceptions to their rules that make their thesis insubstantial. Those who define tragedies all
have different elements that they say are necessary in classifying something as a tragedy.
Unfortunately for us, no one definition has ever been settled upon that everyone agrees with. The
one factor that does seem to be present in every interpretation of what is necessary in a tragedy is
the catharsis that is brought up in the viewer. Without that emotional reaction, whether of pity,...

By doing this, Racine made Phedre a more pitiable character with whom the audience is more
capable of sympathizing. She is seen more as a incapacitated bystander rather than a ruthless,
malicious offender. By reducing her offence to that of allowing Oenone to act, Racine gave the
opportunity to pity Phedre because she was not directly guilty for Hippolytus death. Doing this
enables the audience to look at her internal agony rather than pass over it because they are
repulsed by her actions. He changed Hippolytus character so that he was actually in love for the
first time with Aricia, rather than feeling nothing for any woman, so the whole element of
female jealousy was introduced. By changing the story in these ways Racine shifts the characters
that the audience feels pity for and makes the play easier to relate to. At the end of the play, the
audience feels sympathy for Hippolytus because he is the innocent victim of both a mother s
improper lust and a father s quick tempered stubbornness. For Phedre the audience feels sympathy
for her dilemma; the fact that this all started because of Aphrodite s curse that was not her fault,
and the fact that she was tormented by a love that could never be. They do not, however, pardon
her actions, or lack thereof, that are a result of those feelings. For Aricia the audience feels happy
that she got her kingdom back, but they feel bad that she got pulled into all of this. She is very
much the innocent

18 Since all these principles have been described in broad terms, the flaw of the Constitution is
that there is no absolute method of interpretation, thus no specification or detailed information is
provided. 19 Arguably, the initial intention was not to allocate more authority to the
Commonwealth. 20 On one occasion, the majority expressed that the plaintiffs encountered
obstacles in advancing their claim that the upholding of the constitutional validity would distort
the federal balance. 21 The counter argument to the plaintiffs submission was that the federal
balance was non existent. 22 Similarly, it was made apparent by the majority that there was no
need for a preservation of a federal balance in order to explicate the Constitution.23 In other
words, the majority disapproved the concept of a federal balance. 24 18 David Barker, Essential

China s Significance Of The United States
Assessing China as a whole could become a rigorous challenge, but for the purpose of this paper,
certain areas will be analyzed. The First topic of interest is China s significance to the United
States (U.S.), most notably, China s economic influence and partnership with the United States.
When mentioning China s significance, China s vast standing army of 2.3 million, with millions
more available for service must receive attention. The next portion of this look into China will
involve a synopsis of threats to and from China and the threats justification with possible
immediate and future implications. Economic partnership involving the U.S. and China is an
extensive one. U.S. China economic ties have expanded substantially over the past three decades.
Total U.S. China trade rose from $2 billion in 1979 to $562 billion in 2013. China is currently the
United State s second largest trading partner, its third largest export market, and its biggest source
of imports. China is involved in almost all aspects of U.S. trade. China keeps U.S. interest rates low
because of the large amount of debt it holds and consolidates, which reaches into the trillions,
rending the U.S. obligated to China. China s ability to mass produce with quantity, at a low cost to
the American consumer and the rest of the world allows the country to rapidly grow economically,
but not without short comings. The 1979 Bilateral Trade Agreement between the U.S. and China s

hardwares and softwares. It takes control for every process, file, section of memory and device.
They are like the middle man who arranges business deals between other people but in this case,
they it is between every hardware and software that he makes sure interact with each other correctly.
There are four essential managers of the operating system and they all work together, as a team, to

Looking at more numbers, it becomes clear that companies need to find a better way to cut
down on the costs associated with the traditional hiring process. To save some money in the
process of hiring, every company need to follow some key ways like develop the employee
referral program, turn their career site into a talent community and mash able job board listings.
Here are the few reasons for hiring a good and dedicated team: Facilitates better communication.
Motivates employees. Promotes creativity. Develops problem solving skills. Breaks the barrier.
2. Required resources: Most of the companies are eager to engage in testing, but if they don t
have their proper resources which is one of the fastest ways to see the program to fail. Even
though the team have some good ideas, they cannot rectify the errors and execute them without the
proper required resources. So, maintain the required resources which are needed to test or
complete the project. 3. Prioritize the errors: In every project, during the analysis or development
phase there are some defects. To save the time and money, first list out the highest priority defects
because when the team resolve the prioritized errors most of the errors are resolved and the output

Troilus And Cressida In The Odyssey
William Shakespeare s play Troilus and Cressida is a play covering the events leading up the
mythic Odyssey. Much like many modern works, as well as Shakespeare s own, the story plays
host to a love story between two characters, the titular, Troilus and Cressida. The pair are both
Trojans, each from noble houses; Troilus, son to Prima the king of Troy, and Cressida, daughter to
Calchas a priest within the city. The loveaffair betwixt the pair is interesting to say the least, as it
appears early on in the text to be one sided. In ACT I Scene 2, Cressida is introduced and speaks
with her uncle, Pandarus. Here Cressida talks with Pandarus and seems to think little of Troilus,

Healthy Vs Non Healthy Lifestyle
A healthy versus a non healthy lifestyle, many have questioned which is the greater of the two.
You have many strong arguments on both sides, but to date they have been inconclusive. The
simplicity of the everyday events have caused many to question the argument. We have seen
several model athletes who have lived a strict healthy lifestyle simply fall to their death at no
avail. Then on the other hand we have others who do not restrain themselves, yet they live long
prosperous lives. One can choose to adhere to either lifestyles, but only the human body will know
how it ultimately reacts. Living a healthy lifestyle is a conflation of several factors. One is not able
to live a healthy lifestyle without a nutritional diet, adequate sleep, routine exercise, and reduced
stress. A healthy lifestyle is about finding happiness and balance. The key factor is learning to avoid
detrimental situations, triggers and substances that decrease ones overall health. None the less, one
must form a platform based on healthy morals and principles in order to live life to its fullest
potential. It is important to build a strong inner immune system, which in turn will fight to maintain
a healthy body both inside and out.
Part of living a healthy lifestyle is eating a well balanced diet. A balanced diet or a good diet
consists of three basic macronutrients proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. The amount of protein in

Thomas Mann s Tonio Kroeger and Albert Camus s The Stranger
Introduction
The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in the
novels The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both be
described as existentialist investigations. In the school of philosophy, existentialism seeks to
investigate the relationship between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the
unavoidable conflicts in interpersonal relationships among other inquisitions (Sleasman, 2014).
Existentialism is evident in the two novels under review as the characters are treated as outsiders.
Albert Camus The Stranger The concept of the outsider is demonstrated by the two lead
characters namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an
outsider both in himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to
show emotions and link with realities regarding his life (Sleasman, 2014). Meursault is depicted as
much disconnected to the current world and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the
opening scene shows how Meursault reacts to his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is
both salient and borders on the pathological. By falling asleep during his mother s funeral; the
action demonstrates the lack of feelings and social competence which children are usually expected
to show to their parents (Camus, 2012). Furthermore, he consents

American Policy In Graham Greene s The Quiet American
Through its critical depiction of American policy in the conflict between the Viet Minh and

Stereotypes In The Breakfast Club

Professor Redmond
The Eighties
The nineteen eighties were the most important and remembered decades; Ronald Reagan, MTV,
cliques, fashion icons and Blockbuster. High school was different than today. The Breakfast Club
(1985) by John Hughes was the most iconic movie to sum up the eighties; a movie delving into
the different stereotypes and stigma of mental illness and bullying, in high school. Adolescence
was the time of transition between childhood and adulthood; it is a time for sense of identity.
(Chronological Description) For example, there were many labels used on the students by others.
(Exemplification) There was the jock, rich girl, geek, outcast, and the rebel. (Objective
Description) In the end it had also showed that perspective stereotypes do not matter. The clothing
was represented on what was worn in the eighties, in which the trend is slowly coming back into
style. The Breakfast Club best describes this era because of how the students labeled each other,
disrespected one another, and by the way they dressed. During and after the 1980 presidential
election, the Reagan Democrats provided millions of crucial votes for the Republican candidate,
Ronald Reagan.( Morning in America,16) He won 51 percent of the vote; once a Hollywood actor,
his outwardly reassuring disposition and optimistic style appealed to many Americans. (Ethos) His
campaign cast a wide net, big tax cuts and a smaller government.

The Problem Of Plastic Surgery
Valeria Lukyanova, a Romanian young woman had more than a hundred surgeries in order to
look like Barbie. She decided to have a huge number of plastic surgeries, regardless of the price,
just to reach her ideal physical appearance. As shocking as it can be, these examples make people
realize that looks are very important in our society and that plastic surgeryis therefore becoming a
little too common. Today a real addiction to plastic surgerymight be threatening our world.
Plastic surgery is spreading more and more nowadays due to better knowledge in medicine but
also to the changes in people s attitudes and state of mind. It used to be a way to help people in
real need but is now used for small details people want to change, because their look mostly
determines their level of self esteem. In fact, beauty is taking a lot of importance and so does
sexiness . The image of the perfect human given by the media has been changing the way people
see themselves. Plastic surgery has become more common because it is an easy way to change
physical appearance. However, the number of eating disorders has also increased but for people
who can afford it, it is always more convenient to get an operation.
Plastic surgery should not be as common because it makes people fake in a way. It occurs when
people are obsessed with their looks and will have as many surgeries as they can to be as close to
their perfection as they can be. It can be said that there is an addiction to plastic surgery

Young Man In A Grey Sweater Essay
Diego Rivera s Young Man in a Grey Sweater depicts the portrait of sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. The
piece was painted in 1914 in Paris, with oil on canvas. Present location is Museum of Modern Art,
New York.
This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a
uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt
umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for
additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are
focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section.
From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that
artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual
texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat.
Painting is done in cubist manner. The whole image is fragmented, with each fragment having a
geometrical shape. There are thick dark lines that divide each fragment one from another, so image
looks broken in pieces. The subject of the painting, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Young Man in a Grey Sweater can t be defined as a pure analytical cubism. Though Rivera uses
typical palette of this kind of cubism, the elements are not translucent and intricate enough, there
are some texture and foreign colorful patterns. But it can t be an example of synthetic cubism
either, not enough construction, no perspective, image is still flat. Thus, Young Man in a Grey
Sweater is located somewhere in the middle of two types of cubism. Undefined, it doesn t loose its
beauty. It means that the painting can go beyond the established categories, and we can clearly read

Sage
Sage is a relative to the mint family. It is common for Sage to be ground, whole or rubbed but is
generally in more of a coarse grain. Sage is grown in the United States but is also grown in
Albania and Dalmatia. Sage is a very popular herb in the United States and is used quite frequently
for flavoring such things s sausage, pork, lamb, and other meats, salads, pickles, cheese, and
stuffing. The smell of Sage is very aromatic and distinct.
Sage loves to hang around in the kitchen with Thyme, Rosemary, and Basil. They work very
well together. Sage is normally one of the main herbs in stuffing for poultry but is often added to
lamb and pork dishes as well. Sage is very strong and should be used sparingly as a little goes a

Today, Sage has no medicinal purposes to speak of but back in a different time Sage was used
regularly to cure snake bites and was also used to invigorate the body and cleanse the mind. In
the middle ages it was quite common for people to make a Sage tea and drink it for ailments such
as colds, fever, liver trouble, and epilepsy.
Although there is nothing to solidify these claims it is also said that a chewed Sage leaf applied
to a sting or an insect bite will reduce the sting and bring down the swelling. Sage tea has been

In this paper my intention is to review the Northern wars known as te riri pakeha or white man s

giving understanding of the meaning of colonisation and the effects on the MДЃori people. This

The definition of colonisation is the forming of a settlement or colony by a group of people who

rule under her majesty the Queen, European land ownership and legal systems were amongst the
impacts of colonisation on MДЃori customs. In December 1837 the British government decided in

Why I pick this reason is yes it has a big part but, other than that it has compare and contrast of
you and other people. In my opinion why it s comparing you to other its shows we all have the
same emotions but, we show them different ways like one way is that we hide them in or we
show them off. Other than that there is another reason is that is somewhat from Garrison Keillor
and he said we can learn something from others. I agree with that why I say that is because for
instance compare yourself to a famer what do you have in common and I think you have a job in
common and pretty much what I m saying you have your Modern Life in common even if you
don t do the same things there is one step we all do. In our contrast is really on what we do like
famers are on their hands and keens digging why you are probably sitting at a desk or stand up or
even singing or acting or even modeling and what else we all have a contrast in that is what we
believe in and our religions. Other than that we judge easy to and going to a state fair or any
activities it will make us not judge yes we will laugh at pictures of people on rides but, we won t

The Extent to Which Official Crime Statistics Provides a Reliable Estimate of the Amount of Crime
Committed in England and Wales
The Criminal Justice System is an area of the English Legal System that strikes a balance between
punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent. This balance has been the subject of much
debate in the last 20 years because there has been a large number of miscarriages of justice, where
innocent citizens/ people are sent to prison. This then suggested that the system had tipped this
balance too far and was greatly engaged in proving guilt. Examples of high profile cases that show
some of these miscarriages of justice are , The Birmingham Six and The Guilford Four. The... Show

Official statistics on crime are published annually in the UK, and provide two main kind of

Effects Of Global Warming On The Environment And The...
The impacts of increased greenhouse gas admission are evident through the rising global
temperatures, causing extreme natural disasters and expanding sea levels. Anthropogenic climate
change refers to the production of greenhouse gases emitted into the earth s atmosphere as a result
of human expansion and activity. According to research conducted by The National Aeronautics
and Space Administration, Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NASA, 2016) the average global
temperature of the Earthhas risen 0.87 degrees Celsius from 1880 to 2016, the highest temperature
rise recorded to date, as a result of heightened greenhouse gas admissions. It is essential to identify
the causes of anthropogenic climate changeand recognize the significant negative impact it is
having on the global environment and the population.
The increased release of carbon dioxide (CO2) through human activity is a major contributing factor
to global warming. The human race contributes to the issue of climate change through the burning
of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere,
which have caused the earth s temperature to rise (Society, 2016). This process is known as the
Greenhouse gas effect , in which heat from the earth is trapped in the atmosphere by gases, such as
CO2, causing the surface of the earth to warm. (Environment.gov.au, 2016). One of the main ways
humans emit fossil fuels into the atmosphere is through industrial operations.

Examples Of Mistreatment And Inequality In The 13th Amendment
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall
have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States (Lantigua Williams). As stated in the
constitution, the Thirteenth amendment states that no person can be treated as a slave; the
exception to this statement is the fact that the revision to the constitution says that anyone who is
convicted of a crime can be treated like a slave. African Americans have been oppressed since they
were brought over from Africa; consequently, they are constantly fighting the war on racismand
having numerous struggles to overcome. The 13th shows in detail the different forms of
mistreatment and inequality that people of color experience. Ava Duverney uses exceptional
historical evidence, different forms of media, and expert advice to show that ever since the passage
of the Thirteenth amendment, there has been an increase in the incarceration statistics of African
Americans. Ironically, the United States is commonly called the land of the free, but five out of
twenty five percent of the world s population is incarcerated in the American prison system
(Filmmaker). Duverney s main topic that she focuses on in her film is the loophole that was present
in the Thirteenth amendment. To avoid a public display of slavery, the police force arrested people,
particularly African Americanmen, based on false accusations or for minor offenses. On April 19,
1989, three teenagers were accused

Theories in Second Language Acquisition
There has been a lot of research in Second Language Acquisition and there has many theories in
this field. Since the 1970s more scholars have been very keen to explain the acquisition process.
Particular attention has been given to the way we process information and this involves input
and output. The major debate on this subject is what takes place in between the two stages. This
essay will consider the contributions made by each of the above named scholars on the models
of SLA. They each have their different versions of the model. Generally, the classic model of
SLA is believed to be Input Developmental system Output. However, these two scholars have
offered their own take on this classic model. The essay will first discuss the similarities of both of
their models and later explain the differences between the two models. The similarities between the
models are that they both agree that not all language data is available and utilised by the learner.
This means that learners will have to use internal strategies as a result of not having all the
information they need to process a sentence but they are able to process lexical items. They both
show a progressive reduction of the amount of information processed. This means learners have a
limited capacity for processing information. Therefore, they can only comprehend input by
extracting meaning from the data they receive. This also means that learners will find it more
challenging to process form and structure. Another

Buchnera Aphidicol Southern Blot Analysis
Aphids possess bacteriocytes that are specific to its obligate mutualist, Buchnera aphidicola. It
seems that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis,
Nikoh and Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome.
Through detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts
were determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to
multiple bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria
(E. Coli) possess these genes. Nikoh and Nakabachi were able to conclude that they found several
pieces of evidence that show that aphids are indeed able to acquire genes from bacteria through
lateral genetransfer. They also claim that these genes are used to maintain their obligate mutualistic
relationship with the bacteria,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
show similar results in another study. The same species as the one mentioned before, Buchnera
aphidicola has a highly reduced genome, which increases the chances that gene transfer occurred
from the bacteria to the aphid. Using the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, they were able to provide
stronger support of the transfer of 12 genes from the bacteria to the aphid genome. While they were
able to identify this transfer between the pea aphid and the bacteria, they found that none of these
genes were transferred between Buchnera and the aphid, just like in the previous study. Sandstrom
et al. looked at different ways this gene transfer could have occurred. Insects in general usually host
secondary bacterial symbionts along with primary endosymbionts. Both symbionts are maternally
transmitted. Their results showed that a community of bacteria invades aphid cells and are
transmitted both vertically and horizontally among other aphid lineages. They present other

From a social point of view, the efficient level of output is the level at which the price of the
product is equal to the marginal social cost of production: the marginal cost of production plus the
marginal external cost of dumping effluent. In our example, each unit of output results in some
effluent being dumped. Therefore, whether we are looking at one firm s pollution or the entire
industries, the economic inefficiency is the excess production that results in too much effluent
being dumped in the river. The source of the inefficiency is the incorrect pricing of the price. We

The interrelated factors of the female athlete triad are energy availability, menstrual function, and
bone mineral density each of which develops along a continuum. Each factor may progress to a

Slaughterhouse Five Critical Analysis
The novel, Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut incorporates complex ideas such as the
destructiveness of war, the insignificance of time, and the morality of suffering through his first
hand experience of the cruelty of bloodshed in World War II. Desperation dictates the actions of
society as the desire of survival urges the importance of crucial decision making. The fictional
world of the Tralfamadorians, the struggle faced by patriotic war soldiers, and the uneasiness
among the civilians attempt to pursue the beautifulness of life within perplexing situations. The
absence of free willalleviates tormentful lives. Betrayal influences the trust held towards a person
s surroundings as the main character, Billy Pilgrim, encounters numerous situations that go against
his aspiration. As the character retains the capability of time traveling through his memories,
detailed scenes of his entire life flashes back several times; the continuous reminder of rejection
impairs his ability of acceptance. When Billy is a young boy, his father forcibly makes him learn
how to swim without any guidance, making the child terrified; however, the moment he discovers
the bottom of the pool, the place brings comfort to him. Although he evades death, Billy resent[s]
the rescuing of his life due to his termination of enjoyment (55). Because he was a naive,
immature child at the time, he perceives his own desires to be above any factors. The exposure to
denial at an early age makes

Gush Thief
It has been ten years since the population of Gush Katif were ordered to move from their homes.
The enforced evacuation was an agonizing episode that has been recorded with tears in the annals
of Israeli history. Soldiers were forced to execute a plan with which they disagreed and images of
IDF soldiers confronting Israeli residents during the evacuation were heartbreaking. Even today.
Many residents were religious, but there were countless secular Jews. The community of 8,600

they worked hard to develop this smallest region. In nourishing the desert, Israel gained another area

19th Century Industrialization Essay
19th Century Industrialization Nineteenth Century Industrialization During the second half of the
nineteenth century, the United States experienced an urban revolution unparalleled in world
history up to that point in time. As factories, mines, and mills sprouted out across the map, cities
grew up around them. The late nineteenth century, declared an economist in 1889, was not only
the age of cities, but the age of great cities. Between 1860 and 1910, the urban population grew
from 6 million to 44 million. The United States was rapidly losing its rural roots. By 1920, more
than half of the population lived in urban areas. The rise of big cities during the nineteenth century

The tide of immigration rose from just under 3 million in the 1870s to more than 5 million in the
1880s, then fell to a little over 3.5 million in the depression decade of the 1890s, and rose to its
high water mark of nearly 9 million in the first decade of the new century. The numbers declined
to 6 million in the 1910s and 4 million in the 1920s, after which official restrictions cut the flow
of immigration down to a negligible level. (Tindall, 938) Immigrants thought of America as a
land of opportunity and felt that they only needed to make to trip across the ocean to become
successful. The roads paved with gold theory led to the downfall of the vast majority of
immigrants. They came with huge aspirations but ended up working for extremely low wages
and living in awful living conditions. Immigrants working for low wages and their constant

Since the rate of unwanted teenage pregnancies has been steadily decreasing over the past forty
years (Patten, 2016), many young women will not be faced with the difficult challenges and life
altering decisions that a pregnant teen is presented with. However, of those teenage women who do
face the burden of an unforeseen pregnancy, many come to realize how simple preventative
measures could have saved them from having to deal with the social, financial, and psychological
difficulties caused by an undesired conception. This eHealth Project Proposal is an intervention

Effectively preventing teenage pregnancies would not only spare the health and well being of
many infants and young girls, but public costs related to this issue would decline significantly
(since costs are currently estimated at $10.9 billion worldwide) (Hamilton, 2012). Even though
global teen birth rates have been steadily decreasing over the years (as seen in figure 1), the birth
rate United States still prevails as one of the highest out of all industrialized countries, as one
can see in table 1 above (Hamilton, 2012). Figure 2 shows the results of a survey conducted on
teens in Austin, Texas, which provides a clear indication of what specific risk factors today s
youth face when it comes to preventing pregnancies. These include, but are not limited to: a lack
of access to contraception, a lack of supportive partners, and a lack of education about
contraceptive use (Brazeal, 2015). All sexually active teenage girls, regardless of race, wealth, or
location, are at risk for an unintended pregnancy. This intervention will hopefully aid in reducing
the number of women affected by this issue.

Christians and Jews alike use the term Messiah, however not always in same way. Stanley E
Porter wrote Christians have equated the word Messiah with Jesus, he anointed one, because they
believe that he fulfilled the messianic duties that were a part of the Jewish belief which was in
place well before he had walked the earth. However, the Jewish people has not accepted Jesusas
being the Messiah, because they believe that the Messiah that is to save them, has yet to come.
They view the Messiah as a messenger sent from God, whom will come at the end of time to
deliver them from nations and they will glorify Gods name. However, Joseph A. Fitzmyer agrees
with Christians; He wrote The term messianism derived from the Hebrew word Mashiah ( anointed )

little clarity, however, she did add that, Christ is allowing us to participate in his work of

The Effects Of Grazing On Wildlife And Plant Species And...
Rangeland is any extensive area of land that is occupied by native herbaceous or shrubby
vegetation which is grazed by domestic or wild herbivores. Over the last couple of decades
grazing of public rangelands in the United States has become very controversial. Groups opposing
has cited degradation of public trust resources and detrimental to wildlifeand plant species while
advocates believe that grazingis beneficial to the wildlife and plant species and holding up the
long tradition of ranching. However, beyond the arguments of both sides is a complex web of
scientific information, ecosystem processes, and practical issues related to grazing that must be
carefully considered before judging whether grazing is beneficial or detrimental for any given
situation. In most cases the question is not black and white, but rather a matter of weighing the
expected effects of grazing against the objectives for a particular site.
Rangelands occur on all continents, particularly in Africa, Australia and the United States. It
presently occupies about 47% of the world s land and contributes significantly to the production of
ecosystem goods and services. In Australia alone, almost 81% is classified as rangeland. In the
United States 36% is considered rangeland, with 53% located in 19 western states. At present
United States rangelands comprise approximately 770 million acres with the private sector owning
more than half. Rangelands in the United States are diverse lands from the

Solution to the Foreclosure Crisis
I have what I believe to be a viable solution to the foreclosure crisis. I am almost certain that, if
implemented, it would work. We need social services reform. I hesitate to say this, because it
may come off as sounding too radical, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Simply put,
if something fails, we must look at the overall picture and see what may be wrong we need to
troubleshoot the system. To me, and hopefully to most Americans with any interest in the future of
our nation, it is obvious that all is not well. Looking at our society and our government from a
somewhat macro standpoint, what I see is many areas of inefficient and misguided allocation of
social service funding. In the recent past, in better times, during... Show more content on

Then they probably move on to another school. This is outrageous and incredibly costly for
taxpayers since it can be assumed that it happens all the time, nationwide. Many will even take
out Stafford loans for extra money and default on them, which adds to problems for the banks.
The scary part is that it can happen indefinitely. Cracking down on this problem would quickly
free up a lot of money that could be redirected to a social service that would assist homeowners
facing foreclosure.
I think that the Pell Grant should become more difficult to get, along the lines of a scholarship (not
quite THAT difficult). I propose that the government should not give financial aid based solely on
financial need. First a student should demonstrate financial need, as the system works now. That
student should not automatically become eligible. The government should provide a few options
for ways that the student can achieve eligibility. I have a couple ideas for this. Option 1 would be
for a student to take an entrance aptitude test to qualify for financial aid. Higher scorers are more
likely to succeed as students, and frankly, more intelligent people are more likely to see the
advantage of receiving a college education and to stick with it as a legitimate student. They are
less likely to be in it just for the refund check. It also adds an extra hoop to jump through, so to

Employee Turnover This will describe the restaurant industry and its main employees. I will

some sector in the industry could have high turnover than others. The work force characteristics
in the restaurant industry the average is fairly young, majority of the workers are under the age
of 30, and this influences to the high turnover. Low compensation is another reason that the
turnover rate is high. Hourly restaurant employee work make up most of the earnings from tips,
but make low minimum wage. For an example, in California the hourly minimum wage for
tipped employees is $8.00 per hour and servers in Michigan get $2.65 per hour. Restaurant work

Hardin Living On A Lifeboat Summary
To begin with, Hardin s essay Living on a Lifeboat expresses fear of over population by
comparing nations to life boats, since they both have limited carrying capacities. For instance,
Hardin asks the question, Would you fill a life boat at its maximum capacity with another 100
people? Specifically, Hardin mentions the loss of land and how we have been historically living
on capital such as stored petroleum and coal, and now we must depend on income alone (Hard
857). Basically, Hardin s core thesis is that we do not have moral obligations to the poor. To break
down Hardin s approach, he critiques multiple approaches to this problem of ensuring economic
will being for everyone. First, he mentions the Marxist and Christian approaches which would lead
to complete social justice, but also complete catastrophe, since the lifeboat in his example would
drown due to overcapacity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
858). By doing this, Hardin is postulating that collective economic growth and safety are more
desirable than an economy based on moral obligations and equality. To support his claims, Hardin
then moves on to the dangers of population growth. Indeed, Hardin draws parallels between a
lifeboat and high rates of population growth, since the current population rise globally would make
it difficult to provide for everyone in the U.S or in poorer countries. To expand, Hardin is critiquing
globalism, since he finds it impossible for the U.S or developing nations to be the life boat
supporting nations with high population growth rates. According to Hardin, there is simply not
enough recourses and too much population growth to live according to a Marxist or Christian ethic
of equality. To expand, Hardin s main critique of the Marxist Christian theory is that it does not take
into account human selfishness and cannot be sustainable to growing populations

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Richard The Lionheart And Saladin Richard the Lionheart who led the Third Crusade, ended up making a deal with the opposing leader, Saladin. Both leaders were capable of cruel doings but they had a sort of respect each other as when Richard lost his horse in battle, Saladin sent a replacement. Every time Richard the Lionheart and his troops moved inland towards Jerusalem Saladin s army would circle round them cutting them off from their supplies. Eventually they agreed to a treaty that allowed Christian pilgrims to enter Jerusalem and leave unharmed but it stayed under Muslim control, they both signed the treaty and the fight was over. Even with the treaty the Christians didn t like that Jerusalem was run by a Muslim leader. In 1202, Pope Innocent III called for another Crusade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Motley s family lived in a quiet neighborhood on Chicago s Southside in an environment that was easily open minded. According to the Area of Design Museum, Motley did not spend much of his time growing up around blacks, because it was a disconnection throughout the community around him that established Motley as an outsider. Motley himself was light skinned and mixed with European American. (Area of Design) Motley struggled all of his life with his own racial identity that he grew up not appreciating his race . Powell, a professor of art and art history at Duke University, calls Motley a pioneering provocateur who experimented with color and movement while dealing with subject matter that might have been considered politically incorrect. (Appleford) The figures in Motley s work were always hurrying, gesturing, or going someplace. Throughout his career, Motley showed interest in capturing natural light and producing artificial light, especially in night scenes. His most infamous painting, Night Life depicted the African Americanculture in his work. It portrayed young, sophisticated city residents out on town. Nightlife is a distinct view of a dancehall in the Chicago Southside neighborhood, people are seated around tables on the right and left at a bar. The clock reads one o clock, yet the place is still jumping with drinkers and dancers. Two bartenders serve customers and replace the plentiful display of liquor, and a number of couples dance energetically in the background to music provided by the jukebox. Motley unified the composition through his use of repeated forms and a pervasive burgundy tone that bathes the entire scene in intense, unnatural light. (Powell 2) The vibrant composition and sharp colors vividly express the liveliness of the scene, making Nightlife one of Motley s most celebrated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Analysis Of The Poem The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock T.S. Eliot s poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, illustrates the poet s fear of the fragmentation of modern society. In the poem, Eliot creates the persona of his speaker, J. Alfred Prufrock. Prufrock is speaking to an unknown listener. The persona of Prufrock is Eliot s interpretation of Western society and its impotency at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. His views are modernistic, which idolize the classical forms while incorporating new ideas about psychology and the subconscious. Eliot illustrates his contempt for the faithlessness of modern society by illustrating its fragmentation with synecdoche, characterization of Prufrock, and allusions to literary traditions throughout the narrative. In his poem, Eliot illustrates his view of a great tradition that he is witnessing as it falls apart. Throughout The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Eliot illustrates fragmentation by using synecdoche to illustrate his fear of a societal breakdown. Synecdoche is a figure of speech in which a part stands for the whole; Eliot, through this use of parts in place of wholes, represents Eliot s view on the broken, chaotic world. Throughout the poem, Eliot uses faces, hands, arms, chins, arms...downed with light brown hair, fingers, and the head, yet he never describes a whole human. The central human Prufrock imagines is potentially the woman whom he hopes to talk to that evening. Eliot writes of this mystery woman, Arms that are braceleted and white and ... • 9. Greek Tragedies in a Modern World Essay Greek Tragedies in a Modern World *Works Cited Not Included From the times of Aristotle to modern day Boal people have tried to come up with a definition of tragedy that encompasses all of the works they feel to be tragedies. However, there are always a few exceptions to their rules that make their thesis insubstantial. Those who define tragedies all have different elements that they say are necessary in classifying something as a tragedy. Unfortunately for us, no one definition has ever been settled upon that everyone agrees with. The one factor that does seem to be present in every interpretation of what is necessary in a tragedy is the catharsis that is brought up in the viewer. Without that emotional reaction, whether of pity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, Racine made Phedre a more pitiable character with whom the audience is more capable of sympathizing. She is seen more as a incapacitated bystander rather than a ruthless, malicious offender. By reducing her offence to that of allowing Oenone to act, Racine gave the opportunity to pity Phedre because she was not directly guilty for Hippolytus death. Doing this enables the audience to look at her internal agony rather than pass over it because they are repulsed by her actions. He changed Hippolytus character so that he was actually in love for the first time with Aricia, rather than feeling nothing for any woman, so the whole element of female jealousy was introduced. By changing the story in these ways Racine shifts the characters that the audience feels pity for and makes the play easier to relate to. At the end of the play, the audience feels sympathy for Hippolytus because he is the innocent victim of both a mother s improper lust and a father s quick tempered stubbornness. For Phedre the audience feels sympathy for her dilemma; the fact that this all started because of Aphrodite s curse that was not her fault, and the fact that she was tormented by a love that could never be. They do not, however, pardon her actions, or lack thereof, that are a result of those feelings. For Aricia the audience feels happy that she got her kingdom back, but they feel bad that she got pulled into all of this. She is very much the innocent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I INTRODUCTION The submissions of the Australian Federal Government that the Workplace Relations Act 1996, amended by the Workplace Relations Amendment (Work Choices) Act 2005 was constitutionally valid prevailed with a majority of 5:2 by the High Court of Australia.1 This High Court decision inaugurated a shift of legislative power from the States to the Commonwealth.2 Since officially coming into effect as of 27 March 2006, the Work Choices Act has been the most comprehensive reformation in Australia in nearly a century, constantly sparking matters of controversy. 3 In the vision of Sir Samuel Griffith, principal author of the... • 11. China s Significance Of The United States Assessing China as a whole could become a rigorous challenge, but for the purpose of this paper, certain areas will be analyzed. The First topic of interest is China s significance to the United States (U.S.), most notably, China s economic influence and partnership with the United States. When mentioning China s significance, China s vast standing army of 2.3 million, with millions more available for service must receive attention. The next portion of this look into China will involve a synopsis of threats to and from China and the threats justification with possible immediate and future implications. Economic partnership involving the U.S. and China is an extensive one. U.S. China economic ties have expanded substantially over the past three decades. Total U.S. China trade rose from $2 billion in 1979 to $562 billion in 2013. Of Thomas MannпїЅs Tonio KroegerAnd Albert Camus s The Stranger Thomas Mann s Tonio Kroeger and Albert Camus s The Stranger Introduction The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in the novels The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both be described as existentialist investigations. In the school of philosophy, existentialism seeks to investigate the relationship between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the unavoidable conflicts in interpersonal relationships among other inquisitions (Sleasman, 2014). Existentialism is evident in the two novels under review as the characters are treated as outsiders. Albert Camus The Stranger The concept of the outsider is demonstrated by the two lead characters namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an outsider both in himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to show emotions and link with realities regarding his life (Sleasman, 2014). Meursault is depicted as much disconnected to the current world and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the opening scene shows how Meursault reacts to his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is both salient and borders on the pathological. Present location is Museum of Modern Art, New York. This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section. From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat. Painting is done in cubist manner. The increased release of carbon dioxide (CO2) through human activity is a major contributing factor to global warming. The human race contributes to the issue of climate change through the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, which have caused the earth s temperature to rise (Society, 2016). This process is known as the Greenhouse gas effect , in which heat from the earth is trapped in the atmosphere by gases, such as CO2, causing the surface of the earth to warm. (Environment.gov.au, 2016). One of the main ways humans emit fossil fuels into the atmosphere is through industrial operations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Example Of Critical Essay Examples Critical Essay In the beginning of November one of my best friends Cheyann turned 18, she was super excited about her birthday because she was going to have all her friends around her including her younger sister, her two other girl best friend and myself. She made plans for her birthday to be downtown as more of a girls night out fancy dinner celebration. She asked me to drive us downtown to the mall, so after grabbing a parking ticket we drove around and around the cold, concrete parking garage to about the 3rd or 4th level. As I got out of the car I noticed that there were only a few cars around us in the dim lit garage, it was around 6pm so it was already dark and freezing cold outside. All us girls started walking towards the doors that led to the elevators laughing and talking loudly in our heels and short, fancy dresses when Cheyann stopped dead in her tracks and froze up. Examples Of Mistreatment And Inequality In The 13th Amendment Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States (Lantigua Williams). As stated in the constitution, the Thirteenth amendment states that no person can be treated as a slave; the exception to this statement is the fact that the revision to the constitution says that anyone who is convicted of a crime can be treated like a slave. African Americans have been oppressed since they were brought over from Africa; consequently, they are constantly fighting the war on racismand having numerous struggles to overcome. The 13th shows in detail the different forms of mistreatment and inequality that people of color experience. Ava Duverney uses exceptional historical evidence, different forms of media, and expert advice to show that ever since the passage of the Thirteenth amendment, there has been an increase in the incarceration statistics of African Americans. Ironically, the United States is commonly called the land of the free, but five out of twenty five percent of the world s population is incarcerated in the American prison system (Filmmaker). Duverney s main topic that she focuses on in her film is the loophole that was present in the Thirteenth amendment. Since the 1970s more scholars have been very keen to explain the acquisition process. Particular attention has been given to the way we process information and this involves input and output. The major debate on this subject is what takes place in between the two stages. This essay will consider the contributions made by each of the above named scholars on the models of SLA. They each have their different versions of the model. Generally, the classic model of SLA is believed to be Input Developmental system Output. However, these two scholars have offered their own take on this classic model. The essay will first discuss the similarities of both of their models and later explain the differences between the two models. The similarities between the models are that they both agree that not all language data is available and utilised by the learner. This means that learners will have to use internal strategies as a result of not having all the information they need to process a sentence but they are able to process lexical items. They both show a progressive reduction of the amount of information processed. This means learners have a limited capacity for processing information. Therefore, they can only comprehend input by extracting meaning from the data they receive. This also means that learners will find it more challenging to process form and structure. Another ... It seems that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis, Nikoh and Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome. Through detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts were determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to multiple bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria (E. Coli) possess these genes. Nikoh and Nakabachi were able to conclude that they found several pieces of evidence that show that aphids are indeed able to acquire genes from bacteria through lateral genetransfer. For instance, Hardin asks the question, Would you fill a life boat at its maximum capacity with another 100 people? To expand, Hardin s main critique of the Marxist Christian theory is that it does not take into account human selfishness and cannot be sustainable to growing populations ...
