The Effects Of Plastic Surgery On South Korea

Other industries like dancing school (Figure 8), fashioning boutiques and Spa (Figure 9), wedding
photography (Figure 10) and plastic surgery (Figure 11) have also boosted by the Korean wave.
Among these industries, the plastic surgery is particularly prominent. Figure 8: Dancing School in

As the Korean wave becoming popular all over the world, more and more people also want to try to
imitate the faces of Korean stars or improve their appearances in order to become more beautiful. So,
the industry of plastic surgery in South Korea has drawn many tourists attention. According to the
International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), the number of individuals in South Korea
who undergo plastic surgery have reached approximately 20,000 per 100,000 of the general
population (Seok Chan, 2013). It makes South Korea become famous as a country with high
technology of doing plastic surgery. The Korean National Assembly also passed a medical law in 2009
in order to provide a legal basis for hospitals to attract foreign patients from overseas countries (Seok
Chan, 2013). Moreover, the cost of plastic surgery in South Korea was 80% lower than that in the US
or the UK (Denisenko, 2010). As a result, many people in different countries have travelled to South
Korean for doing plastic surgery by

Mr Darcy Transition
Mr. Darcy s Painting: A Look at Elizabeth s Reaction to a Smile
In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth undergoes a transition from an initial prejudice against
Mr. Darcy to an understanding of him which leads to marriage. The transition that Elizabeth
undergoes is sparked by curious events. The moment of Mr. Darcy s proposal and the letter he gives
Elizabeth immediately afterwards, to Elizabeth s unexpected visit to Pemberley, Austen makes us
question how one changes their opinion as quickly as Elizabeth does about Darcy. In following this
transition we are brought to the heart of the novel: when Elizabeth sees a painting of Mr. Darcy in his
home at Pemberley. Here something happens to Elizabeth when she fixed his [Mr. Darcy s ... Show

Collins. The fiery anger that comes out of the Darcy proposal is contrasted to the mild disagreement
between Elizabeth and Collins. The language Elizabeth used in both cases show how differently she
takes the proposals. With Darcy, she holds the resentment he has towards the behavior of her family as
well as their class differences as a large problem for their potential marriage. This is not the problem
between Elizabeth and Collins. Both Collins and Darcy provide Elizabeth with wealth that would
make her comfortable in a practical way (even though one is clearly better than the other in this
manner). But the argument for Elizabeth against Mr. Collins is her heart. She doesn t respect Collins
in the way that she respects Darcy. Instead of using the word gratitude like Elizabeth does with Darcy,
she responds Accept my thanks for the compliment you are paying me. I am very sensible of the
honour of your proposals, but it is impossible for me to do otherwise than to decline them Elizabeth
calls what she feels a complement and a honor but leaves out respect. If she had a respect for Collins
she would feel more gratitude for his proposal but the way the conversation unfolds reveals Elizabeth
s problem. Collins stops himself before his feelings run away from himself to explain logically why
they are getting married. And when Elizabeth informs him of her answer he does not accept her

Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums Essay
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums does not fall too far from a basic description of his life. Kerouac
spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and writing books
and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of primarily urban
poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry with a beat. The
book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat Generation.
Kerouac wrote The Dharma Bums while living the life of a bum, riding from city to city as a
stowaway on various trains. He used an old portable typewriter that fed from a large roll of paper, into
the typewriter, and back into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one would
think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a full, vivid
picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper.
The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing usually
diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that any place
unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into this world of
the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as boxcars and single
room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are places like cafe s and
restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian, cities; however some of
Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums are found in the stories of
other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes.
Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives to
pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the
explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they search
for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist monks. Using
such writings as a

The separation of planning from execution had four major consequences. Translating The Credo into
basic standards to clarify the quality responsibilities for our Ladies and Gentlemen; the most important
of which include: (1) anticipating the wishes and needs of the guests (2) resolving their problems and
(3) genuinely caring conduct towards guests and each other.
1. A factory concept emerged in which people were assigned one task rather than a single craftsman
performing the entire sequence of tasks. In this factory approach, if task #11 was causing a problem
for task #24, it wasn t identified until it reached the customer, and even then the problem likely
continued.
2. A dramatic rise in productivity.
3. The segregation of divisions and departments.
4. A further distancing of upper managers from the job of managing for quality.

Why I Am My Writing
While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the semester, it became
clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of critical theories
or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy
sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In
EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or
let them lead the paper instead of letting my argument carry the essay. And because I have learned to
revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they are due, I can no acknowledge the
parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my
writing is clear and concise, stating an idea and following that argument throughout the paper. Before
taking Critical Writing and Research Literary Studies, my writing, while rather average, was enough
to enable success in composition and survey courses; however, it was not advanced enough for this
class. The writings for composition or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear
argument. While the topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis
and more of a skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my argument was
never really deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning courses, it clearly became a

Summary Bombardier s Background
Bombardier started in the year 1942 and went on to become a key player in the transportation industry.
It entered the market of rail transportation in 1974 and 8 years later its desire to diversify led it to enter
the Aerospace Industry. By January 31, 2007 Bombardier Transportation posted revenues of $ 6.6
Billion of which 55% came from Aerospace division.
The Aerospace division has headquarters in Montreal and is the 3rd largest designer and manufacturer
of commercial aircraft in the world. Bombardier Aerospace believed that regional jet is necessary ...

Problem/Issue Statement
The problem presented by Joseph Armand Bombardier is the upcoming third round of ERP
implementation in his organization. Even though a big improvement over the efficiency and success of
execution between the first ERP round (Mirabel plant) and second round (Saint Laurent plant), there is
still room for improvement.
The focus is to identify the practices vs. the best of the best practices in the industry in relation to ERP
implementation and offer specifics on how to make this third round provide a higher success rate.
Main Problem: The rollout of ERP at the Mirabel plant and then followed by the Saint Laurent plant
did improve, but still had their fair share of challenges. Our area of improvement will be from the
results given after ERP went live at Saint Laurent. The main problem appears to be still be a
disconnect between the business vs. project team and properly communicating and training those who
will be using the new ERP system (SAP in this situation). While the overall response was positive, not
every issue from the Mirabel plant has been corrected and resolved.
Symptoms: A few symptoms mentioned was that specialized knowledge was concentrated in a few
individuals, embellishing the scorecards to mask some of the issues, gaps in understanding of priority
between project team and actual business, and finally some feedback on wanting SAP to have done
more for an individual s current job.
The scope of the problem involves the

Previously, we have computed the future value of an investment when a fixed amount of money is
deposited in an account that pays interest compounded periodically. Often, however, people do not
deposit money and then sit back and watch it grow. Rather, money is invested in small amounts at
periodic intervals. Consider these problems: 1. Chrissy deposits $200 each year into a savings account
that has an annual interest rate of 8% compounded annually. How much money will Chrissy have in
her account after three years? Hint: Make up a table of how much she has in her account by year.

Problem 4: Managing a Condo The Crown Colony Association is required by law to set aside funds to
replace its roof. It is estimated that the roof will need to be replaced in 20 years at a cost of $180,000.
The condo can invest in treasuries yielding 6% paid semiannually. If the condo invests in the

Summary
This paper researched the fact that the Toys R Us Company was displaying a weakness in financial
related issues due to the lack of proper strategic planning. This made the company susceptible to many
threats in the industry s competitive environment. The research has shown that its main competitors
Walmart, Target, and Amazon are functioning successfully in the industry while Toys R Us heads for

focus is kids and families every day of the year unlike some of our competitors who only play (pun

gained competitive advantage recently is by introducing Play Labs nationwide. Play Labs are a free
reality application which includes AR games and play experiences that children can play on their
smartphone or tablet devices while they are in the stores shopping. Toys R Us is now more than just a
place to shop, they have created experiences which bring their stores to life with their interactive
games that the kids highly enjoy playing (Toys R Us Inc, 2017). There are different ways how Toys R
Us can reach profitability by obtaining customers year round. The company should appeal to its
established historic customer base that will respond to its stores because of their loyalty to the
company. The company can do this by opening new product lines. They can focus on obtaining
products that are high in demand by their competitors. They can use their already established company
popularity to obtain strong supplier relationships for the additional products. These will supply the
company with an additional source of income and the

Bridget hopes to find a new job with potential. She lives alone and is a heavy drinker and smoker. One

Scientology Is A Perfect Society
There is no such thing as perfect, whether it is doing something in a perfect way, or even just living in
a perfect ideal society. A perfect ideal society is what is known as a utopia , and is defined as, An
imaginary and indefinitely remote place (Webster). Many people have accepted the fact that this place
does not exist, but there are still those few who think that they are apart of one. Scientology is a prime
example of something that brings all of those cons into play and some of your favorite celebrities are

Antigone Tragic Hero
Heroes emit an undefinable energy that can attract anyone. Their sense of attraction does not stem
from their physical physique, but instead an internal light. Even the most virtuous character is destined
for downfall, due to one mistake or tragic flaw. In Sophocles Antigone, many are quick to crown
Antigone with the title of tragic hero, this is because in a world where no one expelled courage she
did. Antigone s act of going against Kreon by burying Polyneices was a sign of foolish loyalty to the
gods, but not enough to make her a tragic hero. Her sister, Ismene, is the true tragic hero. Although
Ismene can be considered a foil character, Ismene s tragic flaws, loneliness and weakness, make her a
tragic hero. Her dire need of affection and companionship are catalyst in her willingness to do
anything and lack of rational thinking. I did it. If she is with me now, I share the blame with her and
will bear it also (lines 657 658). Ismene s confession to Kreon was a lie. What is life when I ve lost
you? What is there to love in life? (lines 673 674) This line elaborates on why she lied and shows
evidence that her deception was merely motivated by her fear of being alone. Ismene s loneliness
leads to her sacrificing her life. She has no one except for her ... Show more content on

to why she cannot help her sister. I won t dishonor anything; but I cannot help, not when the whole

The Stroop Effect
Abstract
The aim of this experiment was to test cognitive interference. The Stroop Effect is the finding that
naming words is easier than stating the color of the word. The Stroop Effect was first conducted in
1935 by John Ridley Stroop which was published in the Studies of interference in serial verbal
reactions . This experiment was replicated by asking 40 participants to complete two different tasks.
Task one involved reading words printed in different colors. The second task was to read the color of
the printed word. Participants were timed while conducting task one and two. This experiment had a
repeated measure and the participants included 20 girls and 20 boys. The independent variable was
reading the test paper during both tasks. The dependent variable was the time it would take to
complete task one and task two. Participants were asked to read the test paper as fast as they ... Show

The results of our replicated experiment show that just simply reading the word did not take as long as
reading the color of the word. In this experiment, we chose to compare reading the word versus
reading the color because we felt it was more ecologically valid and acted as a better comparison to
understand the Stroop effect. The first reason as to why reading the color of the word takes longer is
because of selective attention theory which explains that naming the actual color of the word requires
more attention than simply reading the word. Interference is another important concept to consider
which occurs when someone sees the words, they see both the color and its meaning and this creates
conflict in your mind. Based on our schema, we know that reading the actual word is more important
than reading the color. Inference shows that you are not always in control of what you are able to pay
attention to, this occur when you try and focus on the color of the

The Pyrenees and the Sierra de Guara offer us the best conditions for the practice of canyoning in
Huesca.
Canyoning is done in narrow canyons cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow gorges, in which we
gradually overcome the obstacles, and slopes and drops that we find along the way: whether walking,
jumping, swimming, abseiling or rappeling, sliding down, downclimbing, etc.
We jump to pools of crystalline water, slide by down slides that water and years have carved into the
rock. We will use ropes to descend with the abseiling (rappelling) technique.
To practice canyoning it is not necessary to have previous experience, and we have different levels of
difficulty for you to choose from, since we are in the best area for the practice of canyoning.
In the practice of canyoning, we usually descend aquatic canyons, but it is possible to descend dry
canyons in case that the weather, rain or cold winter does not allow us to descent water canyons.
Therefore, this activity can be done all year in Huesca.

A recent report on the weekly news presented the findings of a study on the effectiveness of Onglyza,

According to Bennett (2009), a population is defined as the complete set of people or things being
studied in a statistical study. Given that the information is in relation to finding the success of a drug
used to care for diabetes, the population would be individuals who experience diabetes. Therefore, the

7. What is the approximate percentage of students represented in the data set who are between the ages
of 29 and 45 inclusive?
Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of 163
people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many individuals
there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total number of
individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I calculated that
there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I came to my
conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose How Old which
gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency table and just counted
up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45. Then after I calculated and
got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163 which was 0.539877301 and I
just rounded it off to 54%.

Violence And Gun Violence
On January 17, 2017, Surge in the Violence was released by the Crime lab at the University of
Chicago, which had combined a report on the statistics of homicides taken place in the year 2015 and
2016. The number of homicides taken place in the year of 2016 has soared by record high of 67
percent than the previous year. Chicago is one of the busiest and advanced cities in the world and
getting such high numbers in the field of crime is a shame and leaves a bad impression on the rest of
the world. The violence related to guns has also increased enormously and according to Chicago
Tribune , 2,958 people have been shot dead by now this year. Though the data shows that the
homicides by gun has decreased significantly but the number is still a problem. The gun violence now
is a serious problem and the current situation demands strict gun laws.
During the past years gun violence has seen an enormous increase in various parts of the world and
majority of the cases been reported in the United States. The case includes victims such as children,
senior citizens and young adults engaging in violence or getting caught in the crossfires. The life of
common people is being affected, people are concerned as to how they can live safe lives when guns
are being used in increasing numbers. On an average, every day you hear about some sort of gun
violence affecting people either in your hometown or in another part of the world. It is a shame for a

Love At First Sight In Nobel By Mabel Sparknotes
Love at first sight is when two people meet eye to eye and instantly connect amongst each other. In the
beginning of the narrative Mabel s brothers are aggressively mean to her, questioning her every move
towards her next plans after the selling of their house. With every question, a cold answer would
follow. It was clear that Mabel was misunderstood from her relatives and now more than ever she felt
alone. The doctor was unaware of Mabel s existence until their first encounter in her diner kitchen.
Author Lawrence s way of writing helped readers use their context clues to symbolize their eye
contact was meaningful. Unlike most greetings, theirs were long regardless of the people that were in
the room. Which in most cases means so much more. Given this was the first encounter of the two
characters, I would assume something very magical would occur later on in the story because of their
strong first interaction. As previously stated, Mabel s parents are no longer alive. As the story
progresses Mabel decided to visit her mother s grave. Coincidently, her mother s grave is next to the

The Sorrowful Woman Short Story
Everyone experiences sorrow in their lives, it is not an enjoyable feeling, but a person may learn life
lessons from dealing with it. Two women experience the dreadful feeling of sorrow in two different
stories. The first woman s name is Faye, from A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. The second
woman is from The Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin. In both stories sorrow plays a big role in the
plots, but the two stories are extremely different. The story, written by van der Zee is more enjoyable
than Godwin s because of the way the characters behave, the conflict, and fairy tale qualities. The
characters in both stories must deal with family dilemmas, but the way the characters deal with them
are different. Faye and Kai are in a serious relationship together until Faye feels she must leave him.
She knows she is barren and cannot have the children she desires. Faye feels she is terrible for Kai
because she cannot give him children. She loves her husband so much, she is willing to leave him so
he can have a real family. However, her husband refuses to leave and even demands, You re coming
with me, now. And I m not letting you out of my sight until we re safely married (van der Zee 35). Kai

Performance Management And Performance Appraisal
1. Introduction
1.1. Performance management and performance appraisal
The definition of the term performance management varies in different literatures. As
Hutchinson(2013) summed up, combined with Den Harton s theory(2004), it is a continuous process
which links individual and team objectives with organizational goals by measure and improve
employee s skill and performance. According to Armstrong (2012), human resource management aims
at making sure the organization has the most talented, skilled and engaged people in order to attain its
goals. In this context, performance management is one staple practice helping managers identifying
and retaining most competent employees as well as correcting poor performance.
In a typical and effective process of performance management, as demonstrated in Figure 2.1,
performance appraisal is not the only but a vital element because it is the activity which evaluate the
outcome of the work, recognize the achievement and weaknesses and give employees and managers a
straightforward result on these(Armstrong, 2009, Hutchinson, 2013). From a modern perspective,
performance appraisal covers more areas not only on what have been achieved but also on the attitude
and contribution of the operator (Hutchinson, 2013), which enhance the functions of identifying
training needs.

Relation Between Stock Returns And Economic Growth
Many investors when making a decision regarding investing in a other country take into account
certain factors which may play a very important role or may affect their future returns. Standard
economics theory suggests that over the long run, profits or returns should rise in line with the
economy/ economic growth, which is also the view point of many investors when making a decision.
Although the long run research and studies conducted by different economists gives a very different
picture of the relationship between stock returns and economic growth, but very little empirical
evidences to support the view with. Many economists and researchers supported the view that, stock

Jay.R Ritter in his research said that the main reason for a negative correlation between the two
factors, according to him during high growth rate periods markets usually assign a high price/Earning
and price to dividend multiples and which then lowers the realized returns because now more capital
is required from the investors to in order to receive the same level of earning s and dividends from
stocks.
From all these studies and empirical evidence it can be concluded that stock returns and economic
growth are not related but have a negative correlation.
Ho= no correlation between economic growth and stock return.
H1= there is a relation between economic growth and stock returns
On the other hand the results for interest rates give the same type of results. The basic classical
economics model suggests that there is a relationship between interest rates and economic growth.
Usually reduction in the interest rates cause the level of growth to increase, this is because a reduction
in interest rates makes borrowing more cheaper and encourages in investment in the economy, which
eventually increases the growth rate. However, an increase in interest rates has an opposite effect on
economic growth. According to (Suntum, 2008) high interest rated discourage investment as it s more
tempting to rather save the money and earn a decent interest rate, thus making the aggregate demand

Persuasive Business Messages Essay
MANAGEMENT 101
BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Why is it important to present both sides of an argument when writing a persuasive message to a
potentially hostile audience?
It is important to present both sides of the argument in a persuasive message to a potentially hostile
audience because one has to try and avoid angering the audience even more. What one aims to do is to
persuade the audience and let them know that they acknowledge the audiences view on the matter at
hand.
To show that one acknowledges the audiences view, one needs to catch the audience s attention this
can be done through addressing their side of the argument letting the audience know that their point of
view has been taken into consideration and then explaining to ... Show more content on

By stating ones side of the argument one can then explain how the decision made may help or aid the
audience in the future therefore it may help increase the audiences desire to change their view on the
matter which will more likely lead to a more positive response from the audience than hostility.
After collecting all the information on the topic of the matter at hand one can now formulate a way in
which they can convey the message to the audience without aggravating or offending the audience.
The way in which the persuasive message is to be conveyed should be convenient and most reliable to
one s audience.
The message has to be written in simple language so that the audience does not misinterpret the
message or be offended by the jargon used.
Grammatical mistakes have to be minimised in the construction of the message so that the message
comes across as having been carefully thought through. It should display good intentions and must not
be blaming to the audience but in fact it should help establish a common ground between you and the
audience, which will in turn help the smoother flow of communication and understanding between the
two parties.
Once the message has been created and proof read one would find the correct and most effective way
of sending the message to the audience. Face to face is usually best as it allows one to see the
audiences immediate reaction to one s message and if misunderstandings

Semantic Search Based On Web Search Essay
The upcoming section will address the some of the architectural concepts put forth by the scholars in
semantic search and the prime concern of the paper; how the semantic searching process will help in
augmenting the result of web search. Further, the paper will also put light on a proposal to build a
semantic search based on previous keyword search engine but with the added capability of Natural
Language Processing.
3. SEMANTIC SEARCH TECHNIQUES
This section describes different semantic methodologies being forwarded by the scholars. Currently,
various types of search engines are being deployed to access the information required. Each search
engine has its own features and uses different algorithms to index, rank and present web documents.
Hence the result put forth on information retrieval by the search engines are different from one
another. And there is not a definite and unique single technology or architecture that leads to a logical
and meaningful search engine. In fact there can be various ways to achieve this.
G. Madhu, Dr. A. Govardhan, and Dr. TV Rajinikanth in their survey of intelligent semantic web
search engines have addressed the two types of research problems in creating semantic search engine.
The first problem of matching a query to the concerned documents with related information in an
intelligent and meaningful way can be solved with semantic annotations to produce intelligent and

Don T Call Me Ishmael Bullying Quotes
The brilliant author, Michael Gerard Bauer, raises a key topic that affects many people in today s
society in his extraordinary novel, Don t Call Me Ishmael! Bauer wisely uses humorous situations to
pinpoint to young adults a well known problem in our society today, bullying. There is an abundance
of bullying by one of the key characters in the book, the toughest and the meanest kid in school, Barry
Bagsley. Not only does Barry bully Ismael, but he also bullies other characters in the book. At first
Ishmael blames himself for the constant bullying he receives off Barry, however, as the story
continues Ishmael grows confidence and realises that Barry was the real problem and bullying is
strictly not allowed.
The horrendous acts of Barry affects many characters over the course of the novel, including Bill
Kingsley, James Scobie and Ishmael himself. The first and most obvious act of bullying seen in the
book is during roll call when Ishmael s name is called out. Barry being the boy he is, he shouted,
Ishmael? That s a wussy crap name! This is the first sign of bullying and also the first instance of the
readers ultimately being told that Ishmael doesn t fit in at school. Mrs Torango, Ismael s teacher,
decides that she needs to put a stop to the bullying at the first given opportunity. Giving Ishmael some

Gullivers Travels Essay
Gulliver amp;#8217;s Travels, by Jonathan Swift, is regarded as one of the greatest satires in modern
history. The purpose of the book, although some of his contemporaries didn amp;#8217;t realize it, is
to ridicule his government, his rulers, and human nature as a whole. His generalization of the human
condition doesn amp;#8217;t manifest itself completely until Part IV of the book, where the main
character, Lemuel Gulliver, finds himself on an island inhabited by two main species amp;#8211; the
Houyhnhnms, horse like animals, and the Yahoos, human like animals. The difference between this
island and reality as we know it is the fact that the Houyhnhnms are intelligent, noble creatures

This seems too inhuman, and it appears that it would be impossible to be that intelligent and noble, yet
still disregard the importance of death. Overall, however, Gulliver amp;#8217;s view of the
Houyhnhnm is a perfectionistic vision of how human nature, for the most part, should be amp;#8211;
ruled by reason.
The amp;#8220;negative ; extreme of human nature that Gulliver encounters is the Yahoos. The
Yahoos are naked, dirty creatures that physically resemble humans: amp;#8220;My horror and
astonishment are not to be described, when I observed, in this abominable animal, a perfect human
figure amp;#8230; ; (Swift 186). Immediately, Gulliver does not want to be considered one of the
Yahoos. He never takes off his clothes to reveal his likeness to the Yahoo body. The Houyhnhnms still
regard Gulliver, however, as either a amp;#8220;noble Yahoo ; or something in between a Yahoo and a
Houyhnhnm it seems they are unable to decide. At one point, one of the Houyhnhnms describes
Gulliver amp;#8217;s body to be extremely inefficient: amp;#8220;That I could not walk with any

How Did Batman Kill The Joker
Let s take a look at Bruce Wayne (Batman). As a kid, he watched his parents being murdered by a
mugger right in front of him and this drove him to fight crime in Gotham City as Batman. Now we
take a look at the Joker was a one time failed comedian who turned to a life of crime as the Red Hood
to support his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, due to a run in with Batman, the Red Hood leaped into a
chemical vat to escape, thereby disfiguring himself. Combined with the death of his wife, he was
driven insane, effectively becoming The Joker. Each one of these character s are very unique, but in
different ways.
I can remember as a kid watching Batman Robin on black and white television, how the Joker always
committed crimes, murdered, etc. I can recall asking my grandfather why Batman never kills the Joker
in any of the episodes and he basically told me that if Batman killed the Joker, what would be the
purpose of watching the show? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
if there s a chance of getting information that could possibly save other lives. All of these are present
in today s society and you only see Batman in the movies or comics. I think that we are too
disconnected from the Dark Knight and the issues of Gotham City, so it may be easy for us to say go
ahead and kill him. If that disconnect suggests that there s more at stake in our society today, why aren

Berkeley s Argument For The Dismissal Of Material Objects...
To be just is to be perceived , or as Irish philosopher George Berkeley prefers to put it, esse est percipi
. In this argument, Berkeley details extensively how material objects, as humans have come to know
them, do not exist. Berkeley uses a series of premises to aid in the elimination of skepticism
surrounding the existence of the world humans have come to know and grow fond of. At first read,
Berkeley s conclusion that the abstract ideas of substance, matter, or any physical objects simply are
not real is very hard to grasp when humans have based their justifications on what is real versus not
real on their own senses, and the validation of other people. However, Berkeley does an excellent job
of making an argument one cannot refute. In order to fully understand Berkeley s argument for the
dismissal of material objects, one must understand his preceding argument on abstract ideas.
According to Berkeley, the existence of abstract ideas is actually a myth. Humans tend to generalize
concepts, such as the general idea of a table, a car, or a triangle, for example. However, Berkeley
claims in his argument that there is no explainable way to have a general idea of anything. So if
someone tells another to think of a table, that person will have a very specific picture of a very
specific table maybe a brown dining table with large, carved wooden legs, or a plastic folding table.
There is not one table that has all of the characteristics of a table and none of them at the

Low Social Class Relationships In Charles DickensGreat...
People in society do not give enough credit to those who raised them. We take advantage of all the
sacrifices and love they give to us as children. They are the reason we are who we are today. In the
novel, Great Expectations, Dickens tells the story of Pip, the protagonist, suffered through emotional
abuse during his childhood and how he does not understand the importance of the good people in his
life. As a young adult, he moves to London, where he encounters people from many walks of life,
businessmen, convicts and lawyers who influence him in many ways both positive and negative. Pip is
negatively influenced by the powerful women in his childhood, which leads to his ungrateful and
stagnant character; eventually, when he loses his fortune that he realizes that one of the good people
from his childhood, Biddy, did have a positive influence on him but he did not realize it at the time.
Mrs. Joe, Pip s motherly figure, has a low self esteem due to her low social class status and it is one of
the main reasons she is abusive towards Pip, having a profoundly negative impact on him. Dickens
uses the image of an apron to depict her social class status: I may truly say I ve never had this apron of
mine off, since born you were. It s bad enough to be a blacksmith s wife (and him a Gargery) without
being your mother. (9). Mrs. Joe feels tied down to the lower class of society because of her apron.
The apron represents her connection to bondage of motherhood, since as a

  • 3. Mr Darcy Transition Mr. Darcy s Painting: A Look at Elizabeth s Reaction to a Smile In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth undergoes a transition from an initial prejudice against Mr. Darcy to an understanding of him which leads to marriage. The transition that Elizabeth undergoes is sparked by curious events. The moment of Mr. Darcy s proposal and the letter he gives Elizabeth immediately afterwards, to Elizabeth s unexpected visit to Pemberley, Austen makes us question how one changes their opinion as quickly as Elizabeth does about Darcy. In following this transition we are brought to the heart of the novel: when Elizabeth sees a painting of Mr. Darcy in his home at Pemberley. Here something happens to Elizabeth when she fixed his [Mr. Darcy s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collins. The fiery anger that comes out of the Darcy proposal is contrasted to the mild disagreement between Elizabeth and Collins. The language Elizabeth used in both cases show how differently she takes the proposals. With Darcy, she holds the resentment he has towards the behavior of her family as well as their class differences as a large problem for their potential marriage. This is not the problem between Elizabeth and Collins. Both Collins and Darcy provide Elizabeth with wealth that would make her comfortable in a practical way (even though one is clearly better than the other in this manner). But the argument for Elizabeth against Mr. Collins is her heart. She doesn t respect Collins in the way that she respects Darcy. Instead of using the word gratitude like Elizabeth does with Darcy, she responds Accept my thanks for the compliment you are paying me. I am very sensible of the honour of your proposals, but it is impossible for me to do otherwise than to decline them Elizabeth calls what she feels a complement and a honor but leaves out respect. If she had a respect for Collins she would feel more gratitude for his proposal but the way the conversation unfolds reveals Elizabeth s problem. Collins stops himself before his feelings run away from himself to explain logically why they are getting married. And when Elizabeth informs him of her answer he does not accept her ... • 4. Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums Essay Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums does not fall too far from a basic description of his life. Kerouac spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and writing books and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of primarily urban poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry with a beat. The book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat Generation. Kerouac wrote The Dharma Bums while living the life of a bum, riding from city to city as a stowaway on various trains. He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one would think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a full, vivid picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper. The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing usually diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that any place unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into this world of the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as boxcars and single room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are places like cafe s and restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian, cities; however some of Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums are found in the stories of other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes. Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives to pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they search for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist monks. Using such writings as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Why I Am My Writing While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the semester, it became clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or let them lead the paper instead of letting my argument carry the essay. And because I have learned to revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they are due, I can no acknowledge the parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my writing is clear and concise, stating an idea and following that argument throughout the paper. Before taking Critical Writing and Research Literary Studies, my writing, while rather average, was enough to enable success in composition and survey courses; however, it was not advanced enough for this class. The writings for composition or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear argument. While the topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis and more of a skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my argument was never really deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning courses, it clearly became a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem/Issue Statement The problem presented by Joseph Armand Bombardier is the upcoming third round of ERP implementation in his organization. Even though a big improvement over the efficiency and success of execution between the first ERP round (Mirabel plant) and second round (Saint Laurent plant), there is still room for improvement. The focus is to identify the practices vs. the best of the best practices in the industry in relation to ERP implementation and offer specifics on how to make this third round provide a higher success rate. Main Problem: The rollout of ERP at the Mirabel plant and then followed by the Saint Laurent plant did improve, but still had their fair share of challenges. Our area of improvement will be from the results given after ERP went live at Saint Laurent. The main problem appears to be still be a disconnect between the business vs. project team and properly communicating and training those who will be using the new ERP system (SAP in this situation). While the overall response was positive, not every issue from the Mirabel plant has been corrected and resolved. Symptoms: A few symptoms mentioned was that specialized knowledge was concentrated in a few individuals, embellishing the scorecards to mask some of the issues, gaps in understanding of priority between project team and actual business, and finally some feedback on wanting SAP to have done more for an individual s current job. This experiment was replicated by asking 40 participants to complete two different tasks. Task one involved reading words printed in different colors. In this experiment, we chose to compare reading the word versus reading the color because we felt it was more ecologically valid and acted as a better comparison to understand the Stroop effect. The first reason as to why reading the color of the word takes longer is because of selective attention theory which explains that naming the actual color of the word requires more attention than simply reading the word. Interference is another important concept to consider which occurs when someone sees the words, they see both the color and its meaning and this creates conflict in your mind. Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of 163 people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many individuals there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total number of individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I calculated that there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I came to my conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose How Old which gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency table and just counted up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45. Then after I calculated and got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163 which was 0.539877301 and I just rounded it off to 54%. 8. It is important to present both sides of the argument in a persuasive message to a potentially hostile audience because one has to try and avoid angering the audience even more. What one aims to do is to persuade the audience and let them know that they acknowledge the audiences view on the matter at hand. After collecting all the information on the topic of the matter at hand one can now formulate a way in which they can convey the message to the audience without aggravating or offending the audience. The way in which the persuasive message is to be conveyed should be convenient and most reliable to one s audience. The message has to be written in simple language so that the audience does not misinterpret the message or be offended by the jargon used. Grammatical mistakes have to be minimised in the construction of the message so that the message comes across as having been carefully thought through. It should display good intentions and must not be blaming to the audience but in fact it should help establish a common ground between you and the audience, which will in turn help the smoother flow of communication and understanding between the two parties. • 40. Berkeley s Argument For The Dismissal Of Material Objects... To be just is to be perceived , or as Irish philosopher George Berkeley prefers to put it, esse est percipi . In this argument, Berkeley details extensively how material objects, as humans have come to know them, do not exist. Berkeley uses a series of premises to aid in the elimination of skepticism surrounding the existence of the world humans have come to know and grow fond of. At first read, Berkeley s conclusion that the abstract ideas of substance, matter, or any physical objects simply are not real is very hard to grasp when humans have based their justifications on what is real versus not real on their own senses, and the validation of other people. However, Berkeley does an excellent job of making an argument one cannot refute. In order to fully understand Berkeley s argument for the dismissal of material objects, one must understand his preceding argument on abstract ideas. According to Berkeley, the existence of abstract ideas is actually a myth. Humans tend to generalize concepts, such as the general idea of a table, a car, or a triangle, for example. However, Berkeley claims in his argument that there is no explainable way to have a general idea of anything. So if someone tells another to think of a table, that person will have a very specific picture of a very specific table maybe a brown dining table with large, carved wooden legs, or a plastic folding table. • 41. Low Social Class Relationships In Charles DickensGreat... People in society do not give enough credit to those who raised them. We take advantage of all the sacrifices and love they give to us as children. They are the reason we are who we are today. In the novel, Great Expectations, Dickens tells the story of Pip, the protagonist, suffered through emotional abuse during his childhood and how he does not understand the importance of the good people in his life. As a young adult, he moves to London, where he encounters people from many walks of life, businessmen, convicts and lawyers who influence him in many ways both positive and negative. Pip is negatively influenced by the powerful women in his childhood, which leads to his ungrateful and stagnant character; eventually, when he loses his fortune that he realizes that one of the good people from his childhood, Biddy, did have a positive influence on him but he did not realize it at the time.
