The reform process started in the early 90s has given the industry a great opportunity. Not only must
the sector become more efficient it must also identify sectors having growth opportunities and devise
strategies to move savings into these sectors. 1.1 Current Scenario Currently, the overall banking in
India is considered as fairly mature in terms of supply, product range and reach even though reach in
rural India still remains a challenge for the private sector banks. Well computerized private sector
banks are beginning to compete seriously with the nationalized banks. They aim at a profitable and
wealthy part of the market and, in contrast to the nationalized banks, do not recognize any social
responsibilities to small account holders or to a rural and semi urban clientele. Almost 80% of the
business are still controlled by Public Sector Banks (PSBs). PSBs are still dominating the commercial
banking system. The banking system is facing the challenges with stiff competition and advancement
of technology, the services provided by banks have become more easy and convenient. The
competitive character has been promoted by facilitating the entry of foreign banks. The country is
flooded with foreign banks and their ATM stations. Efforts are being put to give a satisfactory service
to customers. Phone banking and net banking are introduced. The entire system has become more
convenient ad swift. Time is given more importance than money.

The Walking Dead Essay In The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead Essay
Imagine waking up to the zombie apocalypse. How d you feel? Would you be scared, thrilled,
confused, shocked? A mixture of them all perhaps? What would you do? Would you hide? Would you
fight back? Would you even survive?
One might not have the answers to such questions ready at hand. Most people have probably never
thought about it. But if you stood in a situation, where your life was at risk and everyone you loved
dearly might die, how d you react and how d you feel?
In The Walking Dead, all the characters have gone through exactly this. They ve all experienced the
shock, loss, confusion, despair, hopelessness, etc. They can all relate to these feelings and thoughts,
which makes them all connected in some degree. In episode one of The Walking Dead, Rick
represents humanity how every surviving human felt at the beginning, their thoughts and feelings, and
what they needed to become to survive. Basically, he represents the overall character development of
every person in TWD:
At the beginning, Rick is very confused. He doesn t know what s going on, and is horrified when he
discovers the truth of what happened to the world. His immediate thought is to run home to see if his
family is okay, in which he discovers that they re not there. Up till then, he s been so confused ...

The most important symbol in TWD is the zombies. The zombies, in episode one, represents an
always existing threat. No matter how safe one might feel, the zombies always lurks out there, and the
characters in TWD knows they can t escape them, no matter how hard they try. Whether the zombies
have a big symbolic meaning, cannot be determined from the first episode. Objects such as guns
symbolises safety, as the characters feel very safe when they have a gun, because of the fact they ll die

A Brief Note On Sociological Theory Development Of African...
Unit 9 DB 1
Appling Sociological Theory Development
Introduction
There have been many career criminals, but most of them have been Caucasian, so I decided to see if
we had any African male or female career criminals, and despite the myth that there are no black serial
killers, there are, but there are very few because, there are not a lot of agencies that keep the statistics
of the number of African American serial killers compared with Caucasians. Based on information
received from a phone call to Sgt. Thomas from the Augusta, Richmond County Sheriff department he
explained to me that the FBI s National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime does not maintain
statistics for serial killers, and they do not have any type of national repository that can keep up let
alone track the race or number of serial killers throughout the U.S.
So, from my source of contact I am incline to believe that the FBIs has never been able to create a
nonspecific profile for a serial killer nor a set physiognomies that someone can examine or look out
for. Moreover, serial killers tend to span all racial groups. There are Asian, white, Hispanic, and
African American serial killers. Basically, the racial diversification of serial killers usually mirrors that
of the overall population.

Examples Of Sociological Imagination
ISHA NAIR 17060321124
SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION ESSAY Sociological imagination is the vivid awareness of the
relationship between personal experience and the wider society . It is also the relationship between
individual troubles and the large social forces that are the driving forces between them . In this essay I
will be talking about my individual observation and experience as an example of sociological
imagination. There is often a social stigma attached to the obese especially the obese females in the
society. It is a social problem that is seen worldwide. One of my best friends is one of them. She has a
very positive approach towards life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They failed to realize how much they were demeaning her. There was a lot of societal pressure on her
to loose weight as many of our neighbours would mock her for her appearance. At one point she lost
all her motivation and positivity. She used to think that she is a burden and that there was some fault in
her. It took a long time for me to convince her that she was perfect just the way she was. There was a
reason why she was gaining so much weight. She was diagnosed with PCOS. Her parents were feeling
very guilty as they never realized what their daughter was going through. It is now after the diagnosis
that people have started respecting her. It is very disheartening to see such things happening in the
21st century modern world. People without a sociological perspective often attribute obesity to junk
food or leading a sedentary lifestyle. They think from a narrow point of view. Whereas, people with a
higher sociological perspective/ imagination think broadly as to what could be the factors that led to a
person being obese. It could be some health issues or genetic factors. Sometimes even a lot of stress
worry leads to obesity. Just like how my friend went through there

Compassion Fatigue In Nursing
In response to P. Harris, questions #1, 2 3:
Research compassion fatigue and answer the following questions in discussion as per the rubric.
Compassion fatigue occurs when the healthcare team or even family members are providing care for
chronically ill patients over a prolonged period of time. It is stressful and also mentally and
emotionally exhausting for those who are involved (Duygu Figen, 2015). Compassion fatigue can be
experienced when caring for one patient or it can be stress and exhaustion that has accumulated over
time.

Satire And Corruption In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Chaucer uses satirization in the descriptions of the characters in the General Prologue of The
Canterbury Tales to reveal the corruption in the Church that was widespread in society during the 14th
century. Manny members of the church used their positions for the personal gain of themselves. This
can be seen in the Prologue when he describes these characters.
Chaucer shows us through the satirization of several characters, the corruptness of the church of
England and the lust/sexual corruption through the common people. Chaucer satirized several
characters to show the reader that they aren t what they appear and to develop the characters through
complex character development. By using satire, Chaucer depicts certain characters in a much ...

In the Prologue and her tale we get to see the Wife of Baths views and we get to see how she is as a
person. She has plenty of experience in the art of virginity, marriage and love because she s been
married five times and knows that her experience is better than the knowledge from books. She isn t a
traditional woman of that time, she s not ashamed of her actions or the fact she s been married more
than the usual. She takes her experience with all of the men she s been with more serious than the
things people say that are inexperienced in love. Geoffrey Chaucer portrays the Wife of Bath as a
promiscuous whore, crude, and hypocritical. On the other hand she is comical, fearless, and radical.
She is proud of everything she s done in her life and the fact that she has had five husbands does not
embarrass her or shame her in any way. She believes in her way of living and thoroughly supports it
with verses from the bible. That is satirical because she is mocking women s repression with a piece of
literature that has been used by men for centuries to justify women s oppression. She questions the
fact that the bible talks about women, staying a virgin and only marrying once but realizes, that many
men in the bible had multiple wives and marriages. ...Lamech and his bigamye? I woot wel Abroaham
was an holy man, And Jacob eek, as fer as evere I can, And eech of hadde wives mo than two, And
many another holy man also. (118) Chaucer uses irony and satire to questions the church s
maltreatment of women by giving the Wife of Bath the opportunity to speak freely about marriage, sex
and the desires of women. Chaucer uses complex character development to describe the Wife of Bath
as a gap toothed, promiscuous, witty, voluptuous woman who boasts about the fact she lies, cheats,
and deceives her husbands, she shows no remorse for the men she treats this way. Yet, she is a strong

The British Of The Colonial Expansion And Governance
Leveraging its advantages in technology and belief in its moral superiority the British were able to
build and manage this vast empire through networks of trade, political governance and force (Mann
and Roberts, 1991; Lawrence, 1996). The establishment and perpetuation of British legal institutions
was an integral part of the colonial expansion and governance. POGG, therefore, was undoubtedly a
creature designed by the British to exercise direct and indirect imperial control over its overseas
territories (Yusuf, 2014). The success of this approach to expanding and maintaining an empire is
evidenced by the fact that by it was the largest empire in world history. It eventually included large
geographic area of Africa, Asia, North America and the Caribbean with its reach in global trade
including close links with South America and other areas (Lawrence 1996).
Figure 1.2: The British Empire (colored red) as it was in 1921 (The British Empire in 1921, n.d)
This growth of the empire reflects both the transposition of British institutions and adaptation to the
environment of the colonized lands. The British colonial institutional development reflected a policy
which by 1839 focused primarily on constitutional rule and relations with the far flung territories.
Compared to the French Empire, the result was a more decentralized system designed to reduce any
basis for rebellion or discord in the colony (Grier, 1999). The existence and persistence of a signature

How Did Johannes Gutenberg Impact The Printing Press
In 1454, Johannes Gutenberg crafted numerous volumes of the Catholic Bible with his printing press.
These Latin Bibles sold at prices affordable to the middle class, when previously only the wealthiest
churches could afford them. Although it was not the first printing press, Gutenberg s printing press
positively impacted Western Civilization for centuries, because it spread literacy and Christianity, and
allowed books to become commonplace and affordable.
Gutenberg built upon the success of others. China and Japan printed with engraved wooden blocks as
early as the eighth and ninth centuries, with movable type invented in the eleventh century. By the
fourteenth century, Europe used the same techniques. The Encyclopedia Britannica explains his
merging of ideas: Johannes Gutenberg is generally credited with... the invention of modern printing:
the use of dies to make individual pieces of type that could be assembled as required and then reused,
and the use of a press by which sharp impressions could be made many times over, on both sides of a

Compare And Contrast Stopa And Clark s Cognitive Model Of...
Clark s (1995) cognitive model of social phobia can be divided into two parts: (1) What a person with
social phobia experiences during a social situation that they fear and (2) before they enter the situation
and after they have the situation.
When a social phobic enters a social situation, a series of assumptions they hold about themselves or
the world are activated. These assumptions affect the person s appraisals of social situations and are
dependent on their beliefs. Following these assumptions, the individual starts to perceive the social
situation as being dangerous. This leads to anxiety and the person starts to interpret ambiguous social
cues as being negative. Most of their attention then shifts to the self, making them increasingly aware
of their behaviour. This self focused attention leads to self monitoring. The person then starts to use
internal information to infer other people s opinion of their social performance, leading to an increase
in anxiety. A study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they do remember external cues, they tend to be biased towards negative experiences. Most
ambiguous cues are interpreted negatively. A study by Stopa and Clark (2000) that social phobia is
associated with negative biases in the interpretation of social events. They compared the interpretation
of hypothetical ambiguous social events by social phobics, patients with other anxiety disorders and
people with no mental illness. They found that patients with social phobia were more likely than the
two control groups to interpret the ambiguous social events negatively. This aspect of social phobia
reduces the chances of new learning through positive reinforcement. This may be because positive
social experiences are interpreted negatively and the patient s attentional resources are biased towards
the negative

Virtual Reality Importance
Why is Virtual Reality important? Virtual Reality can positive and negative effect on people. The
definition of Virtual Reality is An artificial environment which is experienced through sensory stimuli
(such as sights and sounds) provided by a computer and in which one s actions partially determine
what happens in the environment (www.Merriam Webster.com). Virtual reality is probably one of the
newest and most advanced way to have a good time with friends and family. Virtual Reality can be
used so much more than it is being used today, one day it will control what we do daily. Personally, I
have only used a Virtual Reality headset two times. Although I am not very experienced with Virtual
Reality, I have had tons of fun with them and they had led to great times with friends. I recently
attended a 4 H camp where they had a couple of Virtual reality headsets, they put us in the situation of
a drunk driver hitting head on with a driver to show us the possible dangers of drinking and driving. I
thought that was one way they could further develop and use this technology. One of the more
interesting activities I have done with a Virtual Reality headset besides playing games was exploring
the universe and all the it holds. Sure it sounds boring, but these headsets can actually be used for
learning which can make a huge difference in schools. This new technology could help with kids of all
ages to learn new ways to see in detail what their teacher is trying to explain, and to

The First Theory Of Development
1. The first theory of development I chose was the psychoanalytic theory, more specifically Erikson s
psychosocial theory. I feel that this is an aspect of my development primarily from infancy through my
early childhood. Erikson believed that throughout different stages of life we have different stages to
conquer. When we are first born as infants we must battle trust versus mistrust. This was especially
relevant in my life as a child because I did not like to be held by other people other than my parents.
There are several home videos of me hiding behind my mom, dad, or other close family members.
This impacted me through the next stages of my development, and I feel is still a major reason why I
am so shy and introverted. Erikson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, like the psychosocial theory, that had a slight unconscious effect on my personality, Skinner s
operant conditioning could most clearly explain my behavior now. My parents were very fond of
positive and negative reinforcement. They often spanked us as a child, which they used as a positive
reinforcement to negate my bad behavior, such as flushing Legos down the toilet. My parents used
negative reinforcement, such as taking the TV away, as well. These methods are ultimately how my
parents behaviorally shaped me growing up, and even to some extent now. 2a. I would say that, Heidi
has a passive genotype environment correlation in operation in her life. From a genetic basis I can see
that both of Heidi s parents are the biological parents of Heidi, because of this Heidi has been given
both of their genes. Heidi s parents are both genetically good at cooking and enjoy it, Heidi also is
inclined to cook and really enjoys it. Heidi s parents are therefore molding Heidi s enjoyment by
reinforcing it with an easy bake oven. They also take time to show Heidi the proper way to cook, and
how to love cooking. Due to Heidi s predispositions to cook and her parents loving and caring nature,
Heidi will most likely learn to love cooking and become very good at it. 2b. In Rontre s life, an active
hereditary correlation, from a genetic base, means that Rontre will seek out environments or activities
that he finds compatible to his

By the use of technology, the student can easily learn by their self and feel comfortable while learning.
Also, digital learning helps the students to be more active in their lesson because technology is widely

Why A Restaurant Should Be Paid At Home
Paying the bill is the least exciting part of dining out. After eating that wonderful meal, it is hard to
fork over any amount of money. Whether the destination of choice is McDonalds or Red Lobster, it is
still difficult to dispense money towards a meal that could have potentially been replicated at home.
Normally, the bill comes with an additional fee that adds on to the total cost of the food. Gratuity is a
way customers show their appreciation or disapproval of their server. It is a direct reflection on how
the customers perceived the performance of their servers. Some restaurants have made a transition to
including gratuity into the bill. Essentially taking away the grading scale of the waiter or waitress.
Tipping a server should be the decision of the consumer not the decision of the restaurant. In the
United States the minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, however for workers relying on gratuity their wage
drops to $2.13 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on the impact the server makes most likely influences the amount of money the customer
is willing to tip the server. By having a tip system, a competitive environment is created throughout
the restaurant. Famous chef, Andrea Volpi, stated Gratuity is a direct reflection of the guests
experience with their server. Without the service included policy, the servers have more incentive to
give great service which, in turn, may increase their gratuity. Andrea Volpi generates several points
that support the claim of straying away from a check with a service fee. Servers are not motivated
when they are receiving minimum wage, the quality of their work decreases and the satisfaction of the
customer declines as well. Restaurants should comprehend the fact that by having a tip incentive the
service provided by their waiters and waitresses is severely different then when a service fee is

During the performance canons were shot which was the cause of the fire (Shakespeare Globe

1984 Dystopian Analysis
Dystopia fictional novels are supposed to be just that, fiction. The author s intent is to send a message
in a fabricated world. However the story 1984 appears to be more real than fantasy in 2018. Global
threat North Korea possesses many of the same qualities as the Party does in 1984 and making the
dystopian society in the novel seem closer to the real world than we thought. Through symbols in the
novel such as the telescreens and the news, we are able to see exactly how the Party is able to control
the people by completely eliminating any sense of privacy. Winston is able to give us a first hand
perspective of this oppression through an unbiased view. These symbols such as telescreens and
media/news in the novel 1984 by George Orwell are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Telescreens are a computer screen which the Thought Police uses to survey the people as well as a
way for the Party to communicate information. Their placement is all over the entire state of Oceania
leaving no privacy for any of the Oceanian citizens. Winston says, Every sound you made was
overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized (Orwell 3). This shows the
telescreens allow constant surveillance, and even in the dark, it picks up ever sounds. Therefore, these
devices make it so that the Party knows what you are doing all the time. This also shows there is no
margin for error when it comes to the Party. Any disobedient gesture or act will be picked up the
telescreens. The Thought Police will arrest you if they pick up any sort of act or thought of action
against the Party. Even in the safety of your own home, you are really not safe at all. However there is
one thing the telscreen cannot pick up, He thought of the telescreen with its never sleeping ear.
Winston explains, They could spy upon you night and day, but if you kept your head you could still
outwit them (Orwell 166). This shows that the telescreen is always watching with its never sleeping
ear. However, one thing the telescreens cannot control is the human mind and knowledge. This where
the media and news and the how the Party runs it comes

Don Marquis s The Lesson Of The Moth
The Lesson of the Moth Jack Thurman Prof Cole Bellamy Week 2 In the poem The Lesson of The
Moth , Don Marquis tells a story of a moth, an insect that have a strange habit of being attracted to the
bright light or fire. The story is being told by a fictional character named Archy who is reincarnated
author. The character finds the moth trying to break into a light bulb to get the light inside; when he
asks why he is doing this, the moth gives an incredibly profound statement: It is better to be a part of
beauty for one instant and then cease to exist than to exist forever and never be a part of beauty. To
me, that is almost what life should be about. If we do not have that drive to or purpose then what is the
point of living? One of the major symbols in the poem is the flame in which the moth is willing to die
for. It implies that there are things that certain people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The moth s philosophy ironically made sense, because to live without ever experiencing something
beautiful is truly torture. The extreme consequences of death with beauty or longevity without beauty
are hard to decide between. The moth also explains how human beings used to be come easy, go easy
but have become too civilized and stuck up to enjoy themselves thoroughly. The moth says, our
attitude towards life is come easy, go easy, we are like human beings used to be before they became
too civilized to enjoy themselves (Marquis 185), the moth is right for the most part about humans
being too civilized, but there are the few, the proud, the ones who dare people to drop all seriousness
and go out and have fun. The people with the most money should be having the most fun, but they
seem to just be too civilized to have a good time. The moth has a real good spin on a serious issue and

Sources Of Ocean Pollution
Our oceans have been pristine for millions of years. Only recently have our oceans been affected by
human s presence on earth. Beach s that had once been filled with life are now covered in garbage
from many different countries. The garbage patch in the northern pacific ocean is a great example to
put the extent of this problem in perspective. This garbage patch, formed by circular wind patterns
called gyres, has been described by many as a floating island of trash. Some of the main sources of
ocean pollution are oil, plastic and agricultural waste and it is estimated that 80% of this pollution
originates from land. As technology progresses worldwide, we must work together to formulate a plan
to clean up our oceans as well as prevent contaminates from reaching our waterways in future years. It
has been estimated that plastics and discarded fishing gear, such as monofilament line and discarded
nets, kill one million seabirds and 150,000 marine mammals each year (Ambrose). Trade winds and
gyres in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans can carry trash thousands of miles. When the currents caused
by these winds intersect with land, the garbage is deposited on the shores of continents and many
islands off the coast. Another major source of marine pollution is pollution via petroleum products and
oil spills. An oil spill large enough can completely destroy an environment for tens of thousands of
marine animals. In the period from 2000 to 2008, an average of 24 tons (21.8 metric

The arguments that I have just laid out are not perfect and they have some apparent flaws that some
philosophers would strongly disagree with, while there are other arguments that some of the great
philosophers would agree with. I will critique the arguments that I have just laid out using the
perspective of three different philosophers who all have their own ideas of how the state should
function and the role of the citizen. The three philosophers that I will use in this critique will be Karl
Marx, John Stewart Mill, and John Locke. The reason why I picked these three philosophers is
because they all agree with some aspects of my writing, while disagreeing with others. One will

Other citizens will not be born into a wealthy family, be well educated, and others will have bad luck
and end up in the lower class. There is also a middle class for hard working individuals who are
neither weathly nor poor, but have a steady job and can support their family. This will be the largest
class in the state. Marx would disagree with this because multiple classes will eventually lead to the
wealthy exploiting the lower classes. Marx would disagree with the middle class being the staple to
my society. In his opinion the middle class is nonexistent because one either makes a fortune or hardly
anything at all. Marx believes that there are only two classes in society, the property owners and the
property less workers (Marx [1884] 2011, 570). Capitalism fails to unite the classes and have them
working for a common good, instead it is based on greed and competition which causes the
estrangement out of the worker. The estrangement causes the worker to become alienated during work.
There are three reasons why the worker becomes alienated and they are: labor is external to the
worker, the worker alienates himself through labor, and finally man is a species being and they lose
relationship to the other actors. All of the reasons of estrangement make the worker work a job where
he does repetitive skills, feels unhappy, ruins his mind, and works for another worker so that person

Influence Of Paul Tillich On Religious Language
Critically assess the views of Paul Tillich on religious language.
(35 marks)
In this essay I am going to critically assess the views of Paul Tillich s views on religious language. I
will first start by critically assessing Paul Tillich s theory of religious language being presented as
symbols and his rejections of signs. I will then conclude and provide a short summary before moving
on to views for and against his ideas, before stating my own thoughts.
Paul Tillich was a German American theologian who believed that it is possible to speak meaningfully
about metaphysical concepts and from this he came up with the theory that religious language,
because it is symbolic in nature, has an overwhelming effect upon humans. Tillich argued ... Show

What Tillich mean s by this is that we don t just see the object as it is but we see beyond the object and
the meaning of the object. The second main function is that symbols participate in that to which they
point, this is through the seeing of the symbol which ultimately leads a person to seeing the
significance of the object. Tillich believed the third main function was that symbols open up levels of
reality that otherwise are closed to us. By this he means that it is a way of us explaining things that
would be ineffable otherwise, for example, explaining God. The final main function according to
Tillich is that symbols open up the levels and dimensions of the soul that correspond to those levels of
reality; this means that symbols open up our soul to the real world.
Tillich further argued that symbolic language operates in a similar way that a piece of music, art work
or poetry might. This is because they can heave a deep overwhelming effect upon us that we can t
explain or can only explain in a limited way and therefore, the person listening will not understand the
effect unless they have felt the same effect of the same piece of art. Also, symbols, like artwork can
open up new levels of reality for us and offer a new outlook on life that we would not previously of
had, without looking at the symbol/art.
Tillich maintained that religious language is a symbolic way of pointing towards the ultimate reality,
the vision of God which he

As I continued visiting Guaymas and participating in institutions that provided its citizens medical

Problems:
As written in the case study, earlier the SYSCO operating regions had conducted their own HR
practices without consulting the HR department. This was the big problem and could have led to
negative impact on company s growth. Cooperation between operating managers and the HR
department is extremely important for HR efforts to succeed. HR also known as employee advocates
or company morale officers who serves all employee issues or concerns with managing organization s
strategies and goals. But without the HR advocate role, there could be a risk for employer to face
lawsuits and other regulatory complaints.
Another problem in the SYSCO case study was the safety. Workplace safety and security has grown in
importance along with disaster and recovery planning. Also, with explosive internet growth, many
employees and managers uses social media such as wikis, blogs, tweets and other techniques. Though
it is extremely helpful, but still the risk of social media is apparent. This could lead to many problems
such as leakage of trade secrets, potential customers information and privacy of all the employees.
Increase in safety issues resulted in increase of compensation claims by workers or other agencies.
A high turnover rate of night shift warehouse workers was another problem faced by the SYSCO.
Recruiting new workers regularly has become a big challenge for SYSCO.

Different Styles in the 1920s When it comes to fashion, everyone wants to make for sure that they

keeping up with what is new was important and a must for a lot of people. When you think of the 20s
and fashion, you think of flappers, long dresses, short hair cuts or styles and much more. Just like
women in the 21st century, being pretty starts with what you have on. There are many people who
started many of the styles that made the ordinary woman want to feel like a diva every time she
stepped out. The first style that impressed women in the 1920s was the Flapper style. When this was
first introduced to women, mainly younger upper class women, a lot people did not approve it. These
women were the ones who was young vibrant, and daring. So what was the exact style of the Flapper
woman? In the mid 20s, the flapper woman would wear clothes that would fit looser then the clothes
that women wore in the 19th century, their hemlines on their dresses where a little shorter, they had
their arms exposed, and showed a little more of their cleavage. When this change came along, a lot of
people; like preachers, a few men, and even the older generation of women, did not approve of how
women were changing into this New Woman . They spoke on how short hair would bring on women

Phoenix Jackson Character Analysis
As I previously analyzed Phoenix Jackson s character, I closely examined the external characteristics
that her person consisted of, such as her behavior and physical attributes. In Saunders analysis of
Phoenix Jackson, he deciphers her in great depth utilizing his extensive research of other works of
literature and legends. He comes to the overall conclusion that Jackson is a character that can be
dissected in nearly infinite ways depending on the dissector s point of view. In both of our analysis,
we concentrated our focus on differing aspects of Phoenix Jackson that can be mutually supported and
formulate another perspective of Phoenix Jackson.
In my analysis, I elaborate on the characteristics of Phoenix Jackson that she exhibits physically that
could act as key elements in determining what her true mentality is. Saunders article inversely focuses

The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Introduction
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is an Oscar winning alternative U.S. film released March
19th 2004(IMDb 2015). It was produced by Focus Features and follows the dysfunctional love story
of Joel and Clementine. The film itself despite being strongly influenced by Hollywood pays homage
to other film movements such as surrealism and Soviet montage. The film in itself was a struggle to be
categorised, thought it has been described as a romance, black comedy and many others that will later
be explored. The director aimed to make this film timeless and still stands to be as effective today as it
was when it was released.
Production
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the brainchild of director Michel Gondry and scriptwriter
Charlie Kaufman. Steve Golin on of the crew on the film was quoted saying the two complement each
other. Michel is truly gifted at visualisation. But he also has a lot of soul. Charlie is probably the most
imaginative writer that I ve had the opportunity to work with. He creates characters and situations that
are relatable but very unusual and he also has very visual ideas. (Dugdale H 2006). The film itself has
utilises rawer filming aspects than a classic Hollywood film. Instead of C.G.I the film uses camera
techniques to make the characters smaller or larger in scale (Dugdale H 2006). The film itself was
categorised under many genres including romance, drama, science fiction, black comedy, surrealism

How I Changed My Life
Throughout my life I ve gone through many obstacles, up and downs, and changes that could more
than likely affect me forever. Looking back to this time last year I can say I am not the same person I
was. I can say around this time last year I was very content with how things were in my life. I felt
things were going to happen the way they did, and that was just how it was going to be. I had a little
self motivation but it was not enough to where I could actually believe myself. There were times
where I would wonder where I would be in the next three or four years and have no clue, and then ask
myself what have I done to prepare myself for that time when it comes. Now, there is not one bit of

the Stag expresses, but because the king is accustomed to those around him singing his praises he
takes the Stag s words at face value. The other irony is the rewarding of the Stag for the very same
actions that he was about to be killed

Why Is Mark Twain Successful
In river boating, the phrase, Mark Twain, was used to ensure the safety of traveling through the water.
However, nowadays, the phrase associates more with the acclaimed author of classics such as The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: the father of American literature
himself, Mark Twain. Long before his fame and success, Twain went simply by the name of Sam
Clemens. Before fame, he devoted his days to learning the ways of the Mississippi River s and was on
his way to become a respected steamboating pilot. And so, it was there where he heard, for the first
time, the eventual, and one day, historical, pen name: Mark Twain. During his time on the Mississippi,
Twain grew to love the river and all of its constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was also known to sleepwalk and had a delicate health that brought the Clemens trepidation, as
well as frequent doctor visits that required a decent pay. At one point, Sam had contracted the measles
and fell deathly ill. In his autobiography, Twain recalls the event rather pleased with the outcome: I
have never enjoyed anything in my life any more than I enjoyed dying that time....The word had been
passed and the family notified to assemble around the bed and see me off. I knew them all....They
were all crying, but that did not affect me. I took but the vaguest interest in it and that merely because
I was the center of all this emotional attention and was gratified by it and vain of it (twainquotes.com).
Nevertheless, Sam regained his health, and within a week, was up and about, already eager for a new

Effect Of Amylase On Bread
THE EFFECT OF AMYLASE ON BREAD
What is bread? Bread is a food made of flour, water, and yeast mixed together and baked. In bread
making, our main focus will be on the enzyme amylase. In wheat, there is naturally appearing
amylase. Amylase in the shape of malted barley can be mixed with flour in minor amounts to achieve
a proper balance of enzymes. The key purpose of amylase in wheat flour is to break down complex
starches into simple sugars. Without this key process happening in the dough, fermentation would not
occur because yeast needs simple sugars in order to make carbon dioxide. A proper balance of natural
amylase in wheat flour is needed in order to make bread that is accurately fermented with a good
colored crust and well developed flavor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Numerous enzymes are needed in dough to break down starch into simple sugars that yeast can digest.
The process is a very complex one, and includes the enzymes alpha amylase and beta amylase. Starch
occurs in two different forms, a branched form called amylopectin and an unbranched chain called
amylose.
The dough must contain some alpha amylase to be able to digest the portion of starch that is
amylopectin. If the alpha amylase is too much in the dough the starch will completely liquify. Alpha
amylase attacks starch virtually wherever along its chains, producing smaller chains of different
lengths. These chains can hold smaller units called dextrin s that contain numerous units of glucose.
Beta amylase can then digest these dextrin s into maltose.
Flour always has a suitable supply of beta amylase that can digest amylose totally into sugars. Beta
amylase attacks amylose the chains and breaks them into molecules of maltose. Maltose is a
disaccharide (A disaccharide is the sugar formed when two simple sugars are joined by glyosidic
linkage) containing two glucose

Kristi Yamaguchi
Kristi Yamaguchi: Skating Legend Kristi Yamaguchi is a legend on ice. Kristi can make triple jumps
and twirls look like a breeze. Her feet, the ones that have skated her from award to award, were not
always as efficient as they are now. Kristi Tsuya Yamaguchi suffered as a young child from what is
known as clubfoot (Disabled World). Congenital talipes equinovarus, or clubfoot is an idiopathic
deformity of newborn feet present at birth. A rare deformity with less than 200,000 babies, per year,
are diagnosed with it in the U.S.A. (Blue Sky). The affected foot or feet usually are twisted downward
and curled inward forming the shape of a golf club, hence the name. The child or adult left with

disability. Which, in no doubt, is frustrating and

Social Class From The White Collar Community
e a culture in Cowley Road since the shift of social class from the white collar community into a
student community (Skinner, 2005). Until today, there are at least ten cafes aligned along the main
street of Cowley Road all wanting to share this profitable business. In order to stand out from others,
these cafés have been shaping their own unique identity which contributed to the multicultural
character of Cowley Road we see today. Ever since chain cafes invaded the streets of Cowley,
consumers have more choices but it in turn increases the competiveness amongst other cafes.
However, theoretically, many architecture theorists argued that people will prefer to visit a place that
evokes a sense of place which arguably stated that independent cafés should have an added advantage
in terms of portraying Cowley Road s identity. This study explored the characteristics that encourage
visitation and contribute to place attachment to selected cafes in the context of literature suggesting
the role of sense of place in influencing patrons preferences of choosing a place. The study was
qualitative in nature and included the research techniques of visual documentation, observation,
behavioral mapping and interview. A transactional approach is used to understand the meaning of
person environment relationship. To carry out the investigation, Rick s Café was selected as a
representation for independent café and Costa Café to represent chain cafes in Cowley Road. It laid

Ensuring Personnel Trainers Are Certified Essential At The...
Ensuring Personnel trainers are properly certified is essential at the University of Arizona. That said,
the American Council of Exercise (ACE) has four core accredited certifications recognized by the

As a strength coach it is imperative that one has the ability to deliver a clear and concise message
while communicating, both verbally and in writing. Not being able to convey properly, ultimately
leads to failure in this profession. Effective communication is paramount when instructing athletes.
Better developing your talent and self assurance to speak to individuals and large groups will increase
your ability to better coach, interview, and apply for the job you are striving for as a strength coach.
Universities are not going to hire somebody who cannot exemplify them well in the public eye, or
properly communicate when talking in a public form to athletes. Communication is a skill that
requires devoted practice and time. Another important aspect that strength coaches must have is
attention to detail. Being able to accomplish all tasks on time, with accuracy, is essential for strength
coaches. Strength coaches must be able to unmistakably demonstrate their value to current and
potential employers. To exploit this ability, it should embody your entire life, not just when you are
lifting weights. Strength Coaches must also have good initiative. Having good initiative and being

Red Sox Case Study
For Price, Red Sox, the price is right
An elite starting pitcher will call Fenway Park his home next season for the first time since Jon Lester
was traded to Oakland at the deadline in 2014. The Red Sox signed 30 year old lefty David Price to a
7 year, $217 million contract this past Tuesday. Price is one of the top starting pitchers in baseball. He
won the 2012 American League Cy Young award after going 20 5 in the regular season. Boston won
the David Price sweepstakes after months of talk about where he would land. Besides Boston, it is
reported that Price was very interested in signing with either the Cubs, Cardinals, or the team he
played for during part of the 2015 season, the Blue Jays.
Price will undoubtedly improve the Red Sox struggling pitching staff, one that finished the season
with a collective 4.39 earned run average and surrendered 178 home runs, the seventh most in the
MLB. Price finished his 2015 campaign with an 18 5 record and a 2.45 ERA, but his most astonishing
numbers came from the second half of the season after he was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the
Toronto Blue Jays. After the trade he went 9 1 with a 2.30 ERA. Even more astonishing are his
numbers at Fenway Park, something that has Red Sox Nation elated. Over his career, Price has
amounted a 6 1 record with a cool 1.95 ERA at America s most beloved ballpark. ... Show more

In the 2013 American League Division Series between Boston and Tampa Bay, Price criticized Red
Sox slugger David Ortiz for the way he ran the bases after hitting a homerun off of him. The Red Sox
went on to win the World Series, but the bitterness carried on into the 2014 season. In a game early in
the season, Price hit Ortiz with a pitch that started a virtual war between two teams. After that game,
Ortiz expressed his frustration with Price. It s on. Next time I see (Price), he better put his gloves on. I
have no respect for him

The reform process started in the early 90s has given the industry a great opportunity. Not only must the sector become more efficient it must also identify sectors having growth opportunities and devise strategies to move savings into these sectors. 1.1 Current Scenario Currently, the overall banking in India is considered as fairly mature in terms of supply, product range and reach even though reach in rural India still remains a challenge for the private sector banks. Well computerized private sector banks are beginning to compete seriously with the nationalized banks. They aim at a profitable and wealthy part of the market and, in contrast to the nationalized banks, do not recognize any social responsibilities to small account holders or to a rural and semi urban clientele. Almost 80% of the business are still controlled by Public Sector Banks (PSBs). PSBs are still dominating the commercial banking system. The banking system is facing the challenges with stiff competition and advancement of technology, the services provided by banks have become more easy and convenient. The competitive character has been promoted by facilitating the entry of foreign banks. The country is flooded with foreign banks and their ATM stations. Efforts are being put to give a satisfactory service to customers. Phone banking and net banking are introduced. The entire system has become more convenient ad swift. • 3. The Walking Dead Essay In The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Essay Imagine waking up to the zombie apocalypse. How d you feel? Would you be scared, thrilled, confused, shocked? A mixture of them all perhaps? What would you do? Would you hide? Would you fight back? Would you even survive? One might not have the answers to such questions ready at hand. Most people have probably never thought about it. But if you stood in a situation, where your life was at risk and everyone you loved dearly might die, how d you react and how d you feel? In The Walking Dead, all the characters have gone through exactly this. They ve all experienced the shock, loss, confusion, despair, hopelessness, etc. They can all relate to these feelings and thoughts, which makes them all connected in some degree. In episode one of The Walking Dead, Rick represents humanity how every surviving human felt at the beginning, their thoughts and feelings, and what they needed to become to survive. Basically, he represents the overall character development of every person in TWD: At the beginning, Rick is very confused. He doesn t know what s going on, and is horrified when he discovers the truth of what happened to the world. His immediate thought is to run home to see if his family is okay, in which he discovers that they re not there. Up till then, he s been so confused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. A Brief Note On Sociological Theory Development Of African... Unit 9 DB 1 Appling Sociological Theory Development Introduction There have been many career criminals, but most of them have been Caucasian, so I decided to see if we had any African male or female career criminals, and despite the myth that there are no black serial killers, there are, but there are very few because, there are not a lot of agencies that keep the statistics of the number of African American serial killers compared with Caucasians. Based on information received from a phone call to Sgt. Thomas from the Augusta, Richmond County Sheriff department he explained to me that the FBI s National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime does not maintain statistics for serial killers, and they do not have any type of national repository that can keep up let alone track the race or number of serial killers throughout the U.S. So, from my source of contact I am incline to believe that the FBIs has never been able to create a nonspecific profile for a serial killer nor a set physiognomies that someone can examine or look out for. Moreover, serial killers tend to span all racial groups. There are Asian, white, Hispanic, and African American serial killers. Basically, the racial diversification of serial killers usually mirrors that of the overall population. Examples Of Sociological Imagination ISHA NAIR 17060321124 SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION ESSAY Sociological imagination is the vivid awareness of the relationship between personal experience and the wider society . It is also the relationship between individual troubles and the large social forces that are the driving forces between them . In this essay I will be talking about my individual observation and experience as an example of sociological imagination. There was a reason why she was gaining so much weight. She was diagnosed with PCOS. Her parents were feeling very guilty as they never realized what their daughter was going through. It is now after the diagnosis that people have started respecting her. It is very disheartening to see such things happening in the 21st century modern world. People without a sociological perspective often attribute obesity to junk food or leading a sedentary lifestyle. They think from a narrow point of view. Whereas, people with a higher sociological perspective/ imagination think broadly as to what could be the factors that led to a person being obese. It could be some health issues or genetic factors. • 7. Satire And Corruption In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Chaucer uses satirization in the descriptions of the characters in the General Prologue of The Canterbury Tales to reveal the corruption in the Church that was widespread in society during the 14th century. Manny members of the church used their positions for the personal gain of themselves. This can be seen in the Prologue when he describes these characters. Chaucer shows us through the satirization of several characters, the corruptness of the church of England and the lust/sexual corruption through the common people. In the Prologue and her tale we get to see the Wife of Baths views and we get to see how she is as a person. She has plenty of experience in the art of virginity, marriage and love because she s been married five times and knows that her experience is better than the knowledge from books. She isn t a traditional woman of that time, she s not ashamed of her actions or the fact she s been married more than the usual. She takes her experience with all of the men she s been with more serious than the things people say that are inexperienced in love. Geoffrey Chaucer portrays the Wife of Bath as a promiscuous whore, crude, and hypocritical. On the other hand she is comical, fearless, and radical. She is proud of everything she s done in her life and the fact that she has had five husbands does not embarrass her or shame her in any way. She believes in her way of living and thoroughly supports it with verses from the bible. That is satirical because she is mocking women s repression with a piece of literature that has been used by men for centuries to justify women s oppression. She questions the fact that the bible talks about women, staying a virgin and only marrying once but realizes, that many men in the bible had multiple wives and marriages. ...Lamech and his bigamye? The British Of The Colonial Expansion And Governance Leveraging its advantages in technology and belief in its moral superiority the British were able to build and manage this vast empire through networks of trade, political governance and force (Mann and Roberts, 1991; Lawrence, 1996). The establishment and perpetuation of British legal institutions was an integral part of the colonial expansion and governance. POGG, therefore, was undoubtedly a creature designed by the British to exercise direct and indirect imperial control over its overseas territories (Yusuf, 2014). The success of this approach to expanding and maintaining an empire is evidenced by the fact that by it was the largest empire in world history. It eventually included large geographic area of Africa, Asia, North America and the Caribbean with its reach in global trade including close links with South America and other areas (Lawrence 1996). Figure 1.2: The British Empire (colored red) as it was in 1921 (The British Empire in 1921, n.d) This growth of the empire reflects both the transposition of British institutions and adaptation to the environment of the colonized lands. The British colonial institutional development reflected a policy which by 1839 focused primarily on constitutional rule and relations with the far flung territories. Compared to the French Empire, the result was a more decentralized system designed to reduce any basis for rebellion or discord in the colony (Grier, 1999). These Latin Bibles sold at prices affordable to the middle class, when previously only the wealthiest churches could afford them. Gutenberg built upon the success of others. China and Japan printed with engraved wooden blocks as early as the eighth and ninth centuries, with movable type invented in the eleventh century. By the fourteenth century, Europe used the same techniques. • 11. Compare And Contrast Stopa And Clark s Cognitive Model Of... Clark s (1995) cognitive model of social phobia can be divided into two parts: (1) What a person with social phobia experiences during a social situation that they fear and (2) before they enter the situation and after they have the situation. When a social phobic enters a social situation, a series of assumptions they hold about themselves or the world are activated. These assumptions affect the person s appraisals of social situations and are dependent on their beliefs. Following these assumptions, the individual starts to perceive the social situation as being dangerous. This leads to anxiety and the person starts to interpret ambiguous social cues as being negative. Most of their attention then shifts to the self, making them increasingly aware of their behaviour. This self focused attention leads to self monitoring. The person then starts to use internal information to infer other people s opinion of their social performance, leading to an increase in anxiety. A study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virtual reality is probably one of the newest and most advanced way to have a good time with friends and family. Although I am not very experienced with Virtual Reality, I have had tons of fun with them and they had led to great times with friends. I recently attended a 4 H camp where they had a couple of Virtual reality headsets, they put us in the situation of a drunk driver hitting head on with a driver to show us the possible dangers of drinking and driving. I thought that was one way they could further develop and use this technology. One of the more interesting activities I have done with a Virtual Reality headset besides playing games was exploring the universe and all the it holds. Sure it sounds boring, but these headsets can actually be used for learning which can make a huge difference in schools. I feel that this is an aspect of my development primarily from infancy through my early childhood. Erikson believed that throughout different stages of life we have different stages to conquer. When we are first born as infants we must battle trust versus mistrust. This was especially relevant in my life as a child because I did not like to be held by other people other than my parents. There are several home videos of me hiding behind my mom, dad, or other close family members. My parents used negative reinforcement, such as taking the TV away, as well. These methods are ultimately how my parents behaviorally shaped me growing up, and even to some extent now. 2a. Heidi s parents are therefore molding Heidi s enjoyment by reinforcing it with an easy bake oven. They also take time to show Heidi the proper way to cook, and how to love cooking. Whether the destination of choice is McDonalds or Red Lobster, it is still difficult to dispense money towards a meal that could have potentially been replicated at home. Normally, the bill comes with an additional fee that adds on to the total cost of the food. Gratuity is a way customers show their appreciation or disapproval of their server. Beach s that had once been filled with life are now covered in garbage from many different countries. The garbage patch in the northern pacific ocean is a great example to put the extent of this problem in perspective. This garbage patch, formed by circular wind patterns called gyres, has been described by many as a floating island of trash. Some of the main sources of ocean pollution are oil, plastic and agricultural waste and it is estimated that 80% of this pollution originates from land. As technology progresses worldwide, we must work together to formulate a plan to clean up our oceans as well as prevent contaminates from reaching our waterways in future years. It has been estimated that plastics and discarded fishing gear, such as monofilament line and discarded nets, kill one million seabirds and 150,000 marine mammals each year (Ambrose). Trade winds and gyres in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans can carry trash thousands of miles. When the currents caused by these winds intersect with land, the garbage is deposited on the shores of continents and many islands off the coast. Another major source of marine pollution is pollution via petroleum products and oil spills. An oil spill large enough can completely destroy an environment for tens of thousands of marine animals. Marx would disagree with this because multiple classes will eventually lead to the wealthy exploiting the lower classes. Marx would disagree with the middle class being the staple to my society. In his opinion the middle class is nonexistent because one either makes a fortune or hardly anything at all. Marx believes that there are only two classes in society, the property owners and the property less workers (Marx [1884] 2011, 570). Capitalism fails to unite the classes and have them working for a common good, instead it is based on greed and competition which causes the estrangement out of the worker. The estrangement causes the worker to become alienated during work. There are three reasons why the worker becomes alienated and they are: labor is external to the worker, the worker alienates himself through labor, and finally man is a species being and they lose relationship to the other actors. (35 marks) In this essay I am going to critically assess the views of Paul Tillich s views on religious language. I will first start by critically assessing Paul Tillich s theory of religious language being presented as symbols and his rejections of signs. I will then conclude and provide a short summary before moving on to views for and against his ideas, before stating my own thoughts. Tillich argued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Tillich mean s by this is that we don t just see the object as it is but we see beyond the object and the meaning of the object. The second main function is that symbols participate in that to which they point, this is through the seeing of the symbol which ultimately leads a person to seeing the significance of the object. Tillich believed the third main function was that symbols open up levels of reality that otherwise are closed to us. By this he means that it is a way of us explaining things that would be ineffable otherwise, for example, explaining God. The final main function according to Tillich is that symbols open up the levels and dimensions of the soul that correspond to those levels of reality; this means that symbols open up our soul to the real world. Tillich further argued that symbolic language operates in a similar way that a piece of music, art work or poetry might. This is because they can heave a deep overwhelming effect upon us that we can t explain or can only explain in a limited way and therefore, the person listening will not understand the effect unless they have felt the same effect of the same piece of art. Also, symbols, like artwork can open up new levels of reality for us and offer a new outlook on life that we would not previously of had, without looking at the symbol/art. Having his queen recently passed away, the king held a funeral for the Lioness for all to attend. All are overcome with grief and wept over the death of the lioness, except the Stag who stand emotionless. Before the king punishes the stag for insolence, the stag replies that the queen would approve of his behavior and that she is in a better place; so instead of punishment, the Stag is rewarded for his noble words. Irony is a strong element in this fable. First off, it is ironic that the Stag says such kind things about the queen, such as calling her immortal , stating that she is now Mingling among the gods and with the saints . ... As stated, the Stag has no reason to mourn the loss of the murderer of his family, but rather that offend the king directly and be executed, he utilizes sarcasm to express his distain. Furthermore, the king s readily acceptance of false flattery is another form of irony that comments on the noble s eagerness to hear fond words be spoken about them. One without a large ego could have been capable of detecting the fake sincerity the Stag expresses, but because the king is accustomed to those around him singing his praises he takes the Stag s words at face value. • 41. Effect Of Amylase On Bread THE EFFECT OF AMYLASE ON BREAD What is bread? Bread is a food made of flour, water, and yeast mixed together and baked. In bread making, our main focus will be on the enzyme amylase. In wheat, there is naturally appearing amylase. Amylase in the shape of malted barley can be mixed with flour in minor amounts to achieve a proper balance of enzymes. The key purpose of amylase in wheat flour is to break down complex starches into simple sugars. Without this key process happening in the dough, fermentation would not occur because yeast needs simple sugars in order to make carbon dioxide. A proper balance of natural amylase in wheat flour is needed in order to make bread that is accurately fermented with a good colored crust and well developed flavor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numerous enzymes are needed in dough to break down starch into simple sugars that yeast can digest. The process is a very complex one, and includes the enzymes alpha amylase and beta amylase. Starch occurs in two different forms, a branched form called amylopectin and an unbranched chain called amylose. The dough must contain some alpha amylase to be able to digest the portion of starch that is amylopectin. If the alpha amylase is too much in the dough the starch will completely liquify. Alpha amylase attacks starch virtually wherever along its chains, producing smaller chains of different lengths. These chains can hold smaller units called dextrin s that contain numerous units of glucose. Beta amylase can then digest these dextrin s into maltose. Flour always has a suitable supply of beta amylase that can digest amylose totally into sugars. Beta amylase attacks amylose the chains and breaks them into molecules of maltose. Maltose is a disaccharide (A disaccharide is the sugar formed when two simple sugars are joined by glyosidic linkage) containing two glucose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
