Setting Of The Most Dangerous Game
The setting that Richard Connell creates to The Most Dangerous Game is so important for the plot to
be believable. For instance, the story needs to be on an isolated island. If the short story was not on a
remote island than it would be very easy to escape from General Zaroff. So there would not be a story
to tell if his captives could get away easily. Since they are on an isolated island Zaroff does not have to
worry about them running or swimming away because where will they go. When Rainsford is getting
hunted he thinks to himself, He was in a picture frame, and his operations, clearly, must take place
within that frame (11). Rainsford realizes that he was trapped on the island. Another reason the setting
is so important for the plot

Roy Medvedev Analysis
With the destruction of the Tsarist regime, Russia stood at a crossroads no state had ever been at. For
the first time ever, a Socialist nation advocating Communism had managed to create a functioning
state. The works of Marx and Engels, pushed forth as the cure for the oppression of the proletariat, had
fallen successfully on the ears of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who, with his theory of the Vanguard party,
pushed the Russian Empire into the Soviet era. Leninism became the central tenant of the Soviet
system, being advocated and admired by every successive Soviet leader, and by many in modern
Russia to this day. The modernity of the issue leads many in modern Russia to justify certain actions,
harkening back to Lenin himself, still displayed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The virtues of one are inherently found in the other, the downfalls of one, inherently found in the other
as well. Lenin s own realization of this near the end of his life, his insistence on trying to prevent any
one man from taking power in the USSR, proves that while attempting to prevent Stalinism, Lenin s
own foundational government set the path for it. Leninism was naturally led to Stalinism, and that
must be addressed lest it be used to justify, misleadingly, the same once

Cruising In The Caribbean Essay
1.0 TERMS OF REFERENCE
Cruising in the Caribbean has grown rapidly in popularity over recent years, and whilst this is an
advantage from a tourism aspect, it has also brought escalated concerns for many territories in this
region. According to Nagel, G. (1999) tourism in the Caribbean had increased from 5 million to 10.6
million in the space of ten years. Since this had been found in 1996, this number has now raised to 25
million in the past year. Growing demand for cruise travel means economic development,
environmental degeneration, growth in tourism and pollution are now effected more predominantly.
This report will investigate all impacts effecting the Caribbean and what could be done to alter those
effects that are having a negative impact.
2.0 PROCEDURE
2.1 Research on the growth of the Caribbean due to cruising
2.2 Analysis of the impacts cruising has on the environment and economy
2.3 Research on concern about pollution and what is being done by cruise lines to prevent further
damage
3.0 FINDINGS
3.1 Growth of the Caribbean due to the cruise industry.
3.1.1 Public investment has had a great impact on the history of Caribbean growth. The region has
over time developed its tourism products, emphasising natural aspects like sun and sand, whilst also
developing its potential for cruise tourism. Mentioned by Brida, J.G. and Zapata, S. (2010) the number
of arrivals in the Caribbean have increased from 3 million to more than 25 million between 1980 and
2007.

Speech On Secularism
It cannot be denied that in a multicultural and a multifarious religious state, secularism cannot be
given any precise definition. It is a tool in the hands of the State to use it judiciously for the promotion
of inter communal peace and harmony, and to ensure, depending on the peculiarities of each case, that
all the communities receive equal treatment.
India waited another twenty seven years to enshrine secularism as one of the objectives of the nation.
On 1 September 1976, through the 42nd Amendment Act, passed during an internal emergency, the
words secular and socialist were formally added to the preamble of the Constitution. Then proposed
constitutional changes can be considered under the following heads: (i) Amendability of the

R. Gokhale, made a lengthy speech on its far reachingconsequences. Yet about secularism and its
introduction in the preamble of the Constitution, this was all he had to say:
(T)he objectives which we had always in view, namely, socialism and secularism, which we have tried
to implement, will be more and more implemented and will be more accurately and correctly reflected
in a basic part of our Constitution, namely, the Preamble. Let anyone say that socialism or secularism
is incapable of definition (sic).
Well, in order to accept that argument of the Law Minister , one may say that democracy in that sense
is also incapable of definition because, it is understood in different ways in different countries. But,
there is consensus on the way we practice democracy. In the same way, the meanings of the words
socialism and secularism are well understood and embedded in the Constitution. Thus, all the
argument seems futile but the main objective of the amendment to the Preamble was a very important
and fundamental feature of the Amendment

Essay On Lymph Node Transfer
Lymph Node Transfer
WHAT IS LYMPH NODE TRANSFER?
Lymphedema is caused by the damage or removal of lymph nodes. Lymph nodes cleanse lymph, the
fluid that drips from the blood vessels. Without properly working lymph nodes unwanted cells are
passed through the blood resulting in lymphedema.
However, this can be treated; lymph node transfer is a microsurgical transplant in which the lymph
nodes are taken from a healthy limb and put into the limb with lymphedema to wipe out the unwanted
cells. The transferred lymph nodes connect to the lymphatic system in the limb they were place in,
replacing the damaged or removed lymph nodes. This will cleanse the lymph of the unwanted cells,
which brings down the swelling. It has been reported that the procedure works best when done in the
earlier stages of lymphedema, lymph node transfer works best in the arms than ... Show more content

The patient is put under general anesthesia.
2. An incision is made, typically in the groin area.
3. The doctor looks through a microscope to carefully harvest the healthy vascularized lymph nodes
and vessels (picking out ones that won t result in lymphedema), by removing a flap of tissue
containing the healthy lymph nodes
4. Another incision is made in limb containing lymphedema.
5. The doctor prepares it for the flap of tissue containing healthy lymph nodes, by removing a flap of
damaged tissue.
6. The doctor then reconnects the blood vessels
7. Physical therapy is continued to help the limb containing lymphedema reduce its swelling and
increase its mobility
RISKS
As said before, lymphedema is caused by the damage or removal of lymph nodes in the lymphatic
system. When the healthy lymph nodes are taken from the patient s body that limb can be left
vulnerable to lymphedema because it s lymph nodes had been removed, which is the cause of
lymphedema, but this is uncommon for this procedure. Other risks include bleeding, infection, and the
clotting of blood vessels to the lymph nodes.

Technical Decision Questions On Programming The Fms And...
The first decision discussed in programming the FMS and ACARS will be choosing the correct
runway to request data for. Choosing the runway is an analytical decision, as information needs to be
analyzed correctly. An airport s ATIS will list the active runways in use for departures. If multiple
runways are being used for departure, pilots will need to anticipate the runway they will use. Pilot will
use their location relative to the runways, direction of departure, and previous experience to decide on
a runway. Pilot s previous experience can be heuristic as certain airport conditions lead to specific
runway operations. It is sometimes referred to as tribal knowledge when anticipating the correct
runway. Sometimes airports will use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There can also be a runway change after the initial assignment, which leads to the task starting all
over. Time is the biggest stressor in this decision. A pilot always wants to anticipate the correct runway
so that it will reduce their workload during taxing. If they picked the wrong runway they then have a
lot of work starting the request task over in a short period of time.
The second decision looked at will be deciding if the received data is correct and valid to accept and
use. This decision can be either intuitive analytical. Analytical is the correct way to make the decision
however. The decision is analytical because pilots are supposed to verify all the information that was
used to compute the takeoff data such as wind, altimeter, flap setting, and runway. That takes
additional time but is the correct method. Most pilots make the decision using intuitive decisions
making. Pilots receive preliminary takeoff data during their preflight. If the v speeds on the final
takeoff data received is within a knot or two of the preliminary takeoff data v speeds pilots will use
that as their check. They can accomplish that much quicker and use it as a shortcut. If any of the
information isn t correct for the situation it is important pilots catch it or it can lead to invalid data
being used. Time is the biggest pressure in this decision. This decision is generally made while taxing
which is a high

Why Did Katie Holmes Talk About Scientology
Katie Holmes is actually going to speak out about Scientology for the very first time tonight on 20/20.
US Magazine shared the news that since her divorce from Tom Cruise, Holmes will finally be sharing.
When the two split, Tom and Katie were very quiet about what happened and never shared if
Scientology could have been part of the problem in their relationship. Holmes will be talking about
Leah Remini on this special where Leah will talk about leaving Scientology and how it affected her
life. Katie has never said a spoke out about Leah in the press before. This show will not focus on
Holmes, but it will be interesting to see what she has to say after all these years.
Katie Holmes actually divorced Tom Cruise back in 2012 after being married to him for 6 years.
Cruise did admit back in 2013 that reports that Katie left him to protect Suri from Scientology were
true. Cruise did say that this was one of the assertions, yes. Suri Cruise is the only child that Katie
Holmes and Cruise had together during their marriage.
Leah has revealed that she was once written up for telling Cruise and Holmes to get a room after
seeing him kiss Katie in a very assertive way. US Magazine shared that Leah was invited over to the
home of Tom Cruise and when she showed up Katie Holmes was there as well. Katie was still just

they have a child together, but the two don t really seem to be part of each other s lives anymore. They

The Portrayal Of Women In The Media
According to a Dove Research, Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful.
The media has affected women through standards. Three changes that should be done to stop the
effects of women portrayed in the media are stopping the sexism, photoshopping and stereotyping.
The portrayal of women in the media affects women and young girls but this issue can be solved. In
many movies, music videos, ads, etc. we see sexism between males and females. According to Gender
Issues In The Media, There are many fewer females than males in almost all forms of mainstream
media and those who do appear are often portrayed in very stereotypical ways. This shows that if
women are seen in the same position as men they are stereotyped and

Analysis Of The Simple Meter By The Solmization
1. For the examples in the simple meter, the solmization could be briefly divided into two groups. The
first group focuses on the metrical positions. Each beat in the measure is either spoken as numbers or
specific syllables, and the subdivisions are either specified with distinct different syllables (e.g. the
third and fifth one) or not as precisely defined (e.g. the forth one). The second group focuses on the
duration of the notes, as seen in the last 3 examples. The sixth example assigns a specific syllabus to a
rhythmic value, while the seventh is a little more vague on that, while it has a better ability to
emphasize strong beats as the quarter note gets the ta and ti lies on accented moments most of the
time. The last one which uses well known words makes use of the natural speech rhythm to perform
the job of the syllables in the sixth and seventh example.
The examples which emphasized note value still operate in the same way as simple meter when it
comes to compound meter, but the others show more variations in thoughts. The first example counts
the subdivisions as the basic unit. In this case, instead of thinking in meter, it acts more like the ti ri ti
ri method which focuses on the duration of the notes. The ones which still focuses on the meter
(2,3,4,5,8,9) still make use of the syllables to subdivide the beat. Example 2 and 4 specifies each
subdivision up to the sixteenth note level, while others are not as precise. For examples 6, only the
beat is spoken

Ethical Financial Reporting And Disclosure Quality
Article #8
Abstract. The article reviewed was Director Overlap, Ethical Financial Reporting, and Improvements
in Disclosure Quality. The key of the abstract is to emphasize the positive influence of independent
audit committee on the ethical financial reporting, corporate disclosure, and company ethical
environment overall (p. 183).
Introduction. The author studies the relationships between the director overlap and financial reporting
quality, and for that purpose, analyzes the compensation measurement system and how it tights to
performance (p. 183). The researcher also focuses on the impact of audit committee on the reporting
and disclosure. The main objective of the research is to examine the impact of director overlap on
earnings, compensation of executives and independence of the audit committee on financial
performance, ethical financial reporting, and disclosure. The importance of the study lies in analysis of
the control issues, equity based measures, interests of shareholders, managers ability to prevent fraud,
independent financial experts, ethics requirement for reporting, and SEC ethics rule. The author
considers two problems: how the level or degree of audit committee independence affect the quality of
financial reporting; and the relationship between cash incentives and compensation (p. 184).
Literature Review. The author uses a systematic review of literature in the research. The literature
review is categorized into two parts: study the relationships

Similar problems occurred in Disneyland Tokyo, where management didn t even think about the
height difference of Asians and Americans, resulting in too high public phones for Japanese guests.
Concluding it is clear that the American company originally tried to implement a standardization
strategy, when launching theme parks in other countries, without taking the local culture into
consideration. Country specific procedures and regulations, and different local customer preferences
forced Disney to adapt features of the US theme park business model to the local markets.
Lessons the company should have learned Through past experiences Disneyland and its management
teams have most certainly learnt the importance of culture and national differences in working styles,
consumer preferences, laws and public expectations and that before initiating any international project
the studying of the host countries culture is the outmost priority. Having a person in its top
management, which already knows the language, the culture and the way of life in the welcoming
country can be helpful. Nevertheless, this is not sufficient. To work in a cross culture environment, the
company has to be open to new suggestions and be prepared to learn from new foreign employees and
consumers alike. Moreover, to satisfy the local customers, cultural differences should be included in
major final decisions. For instance, the price politic should be adjusted to the local expectations. The

Life In The Iron Mills And The Simplification Of Black...
Life in the Iron Mills the Simplification of Black Suffering.
Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills illustrates class conflict and the exploitative nature of
American industrialization. It has been regarded as one of the first notable examples of American
realism that portrayed the burdens of industrial factory workers. Davis uses slavery comparisons
throughout the novella, this rhetoric threatens the potency of her work.
Class disparities serve to isolate the impoverished from the bourgeois, this alienation exists because of
class but Davis seeks to create this division by race. For example Hugh is worn down and blackened
by his hard labor.
This comparison becomes problematic when she equates the mill workers position with that of chattel
slaves. By doing so she ignores the realities of both struggles, Davis rhetoric could lead some to
believe that the plight of mill workers is even more severe than slavery.
Though in reality the two only share a few similarities, factory work was far less severe than chattel
slavery that lasted over two centuries.
Davis used this comparison since she was able to witness the atrocities of both chattel and wage
slavery during her lifetime. The use of a slavery comparison would be understood by readers since
abolition was controversial at the time Iron Mills was published.
Yet black suffering is only a device to describe the main subject of white mill workers, she
inaccurately depicts chattel slavery and downplays

Christopher Leinberger s Chapter Summary
This chapter of the book is a good example of an impassioned appeal for human mobility. So much
that I went ahead and started reading chapter 6, just to get a feel of where walkable urbanism was
headed. Leinberger presents a case that would allow cities to encourage, allow and promotes places
for individuals to live and have accessible places to go via walking. The chapter focuses on human
well being, rather than limit infrastructure and resources to encourage automobile travel only. The
author Christopher Leinberger clarifies the origin of such an appeal and proves that it is the
unambiguous choice experienced in the 20th century. In chapter five, Leinberger argues about
demographics and money. He pointed out that the reduced prices of oil resulted to sub urbanism.
However, as the prices of oil were increased, there was an impact on the choices of people and the
locations where they want to live.

walkable urbanism and drivable sub urbanism. This chapter is critical to architects, sociologists and

outlining the main changes that should be implemented to have walkable urbanism as a choice. Most
readers will state that it is a good book. It tells people about the history of transition development in
American society for the last 100 years (Leinberger, 2008). It is important particularly for the pulls
and pushes leading to the demand for suburban and the walkable urban settings. One thing for certain
is that even though the book was originally written more than 10 years old, any young readers that

Childhood and Socialisation in Australia Essay
Socialization is the human process of learning to become a member of our society, and how each
individual learns to fit into a group (Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, p123). Jean Piaget (1896 1980) a
Swiss psychologist described childhood and development in terms of distinct psychological stages and
how these stages influence socialization and enculturation (see Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, pp124 ¡V
127). Other important theorists to look at are George Herbert Mead (1863 1931) and Lev Vygotsky
(1896 1934).

Australia being so multicultural and diverse, the importance of each of these agents is different from

„X Religion ¡V In an Australian context, religion holds varied importance in childhood socialization.
For some children, attending church, a mosque or a synagogue with family provides an introduction to
the beliefs, values and morals that are socialized throughout their lives.
Processes of Socialization: There are several ways in which children (and adults for that matter) are
socialized.
„X Trial amp; Error ¡V children learn how to interact appropriately in a social environment by trialing
certain behaviour and gauging its social response. o Eg. When children use manners and are polite,
they are more likely to get what they want. Hence they learn to be polite rather than ask rudely.
Eg. Hitting another child in the playground elicits a negative response from society; the child¡¦s
friends won¡¦t play with him/her anymore.
„X Punishment amp; Reinforcement ¡V Parents and teachers use punishment and reward to socialize
children into conforming to social norms. Do something that is inappropriate by society¡¦s standards
and be punished. Do something correct, and be rewarded. o Eg. Moral conditioning against stealing.

New People Theme Of Identity
In her latest novel, Danzy Senna dives deep into the territory of love, race, identity, heritage, and
privilege, revealing the harsh reality of growing up in America with two different ethnicities. Danzy
Senna s New People defines the social complexities of having and understanding a full identity of one
s own and what it means to pass as one race or another through it s conflicted and anti heroine of a
character and discouraging setting.
Maria s struggle with identity is foremost throughout the novel. Her appearance is misleading from
her actual ethnicity, which she has trouble coming to terms with. This theme accentuates the idea that
people base judgments off of looks rather than the truth. This can build the question of who can pass
for what? . It gives Maria the chance to assimilate with white culture while not actually being white. It
s no question that she feels like a stranger in her own home, an alien in her own body due to the
confusion of not knowing who she really is.. It s also clear she feels the need to gain social
acceptance, but she doesn t know how the people want her to be to obtain it. Maria can t seem to grasp

Reflection Of Chemistry
Dr. Adriana, we need 70 mL of ethanol, I said confidently after computing the dilution factor needed
for an immunohistochemistry experiment. This was my first time using the molarity formula in real
life. When I first learned this formula, it had little significance because I never had to use it. That was
the way most things were to me regarding science; I was bombarded with formulas and equations to
memorize with no intention of actually using them. While I was told that I was good at chemistry and
was able to work hard and do well in the class, it was not until I sat in a real medical research
laboratory that my passion for chemistry began. It was quite the adjustment for me; the answers to my
questions could not be found in a book. I soon realized that memorizing formulas would not suffice; I
needed a way to visualize intricate ideas on the subatomic level. But this is what made me love the
experience the challenge. Everything we did used chemistry concepts but took it a step further. The
goal was not to get the right answer; with each step we were closer to a solution for patients struggling
with cancer. This topic hit home to me because it felt as though I was personally leave a touch on lives
of each person I knew who the disease had affected. Through working for a purpose greater than just
myself, I found a new love for chemistry.
Chemistry is a very challenging field of study and would provide the obstacles needed for me to grow
as a student and young adult.

The Effects Of Conventional Energy Sources And Increasing...
Depleting nature of the conventional energy sources and increasing cost of electrical energy are
forcing mankind to look for possible modifications in the existing systems towards lower energy
consumption without sacrificing the purpose for which it is used. The household refrigerator used
extensively all over the world for preserving various food products is one such system which accounts
for the substantial part of the house electricity bills. Refrigerator is a machine which lifts up the heat
from low evaporator temperature (pressure) and pumps it against the high condenser temperatures
(pressure).
Following were the objectives decided for achieving this aim:
1. To study the literature on domestic refrigerator with higher evaporator temperature in the
temperature range of 265K 270K.
2. To study existing domestic refrigerator including lower temperatures.
3. To design and fabricate a suitable capillary tube to be used with the modified refrigerator to provide
required evaporator temperature.
4. Redesigning the shape of the evaporator used in the refrigerator.
5. To evaluate the performance of the system using recommended test procedures in the literature.
6. To evaluate economic viability of the system for modifying the existing systems.
The reason behind selecting the temperature range 268K 272K for domestic refrigerator in the
evaporator is to study the effects of the this temperature range on stored products and to increase
coefficient of performance of the

Original Technical Writing Guide And Why I Redesigned
The purpose of this memo is to give you a better understanding on what revisions were made to the
original technical writing guide and why I redesigned it in the way that I did.
Summary
This document as whole, was missing a lot of crucial information that I felt needed to be included in a
technical writing guide. As a whole, I believe that my redesign of the document will prove to be more
useful and more navigable than the original that was presented. In the discussion, I will be analyzing
each part of the guide that I felt needed to be revised.
Discussion
One of the first things that will stick out from the guide is the color scheme chosen for both the text
and background, blue and green text on a beige background respectively. Since this is supposed to be
an academic resource for engineering students, I felt it was most appropriate to have a white
background with black text, thus helping to bolster the professionalism of the document. When I first
opened the document, I felt as if it was very distracting and possibly may have been written for those
in high school, but upon further inspection, I discovered that this was written for students at the
University of Cape Town in South Africa. Unless this is a cultural difference of some kind, I feel as if
the author merely wanted to attract readers to use the guide. Even after fixing the color scheme, it was
still very hard to navigate the document.
In order to fix the issue of navigability, I changed each of the primary

Outline For The Handmaid s Tale
I. Title: The Handmaid s Tale: Through the Lenses of Psychoanalysis and Deconstruction
II. Introduction
A. When reading a work of fiction, multiple ways exist in which to interpet the meaning held within
the story.
B. Utilizing literary theories when reading fictional literature increases the understanding of the
meaning behind the language of the story.
1. Psychoanalysis, specifically Lacanian mirror stage, provides one interpretation surrounding the
identification of self.
2. Application of Jacques Derrida s deconstruction, while some aspects are borrowed from
psychoanalysis, functions differently to obtain the interpretation.
C. Thesis: Within Margaret Atwood s novel, The Handmaid s Tale, both Lacan s mirror stage and
Derrida s deconstruction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychoanalysis Strength: Holland suggests we all read literature selectively, unconsciously projecting
our own fantasies into it and reshaping it to suit our individual identities (Rollin and West 12).
C. Analysis: Rollin and West state, If we acknowledge our personal involvement openly; if we make
clear the choices we have made and why we have made them, we have an opportunity to bring
ourselves to a poem, story, or play more completely than other theoretical systems allow (Rollin and
West 12).
D. Psychoanalysis Weakness: The inherent weakness surrounding Lacanian psychoanalytic theory is
in the basics of the theory formation. Lacan made selective use of citations for his theory and ignored
theories that may have unsubstantiated his claims. This lends itself to the realization of each
interpretation being solely related to the person doing the interpreting. (Billig 6)
E. Analysis: Findings associated with mirror stage theory are highly speculative and relative to the
individual reader; thus, no true fact can be gained from the literature.
F. Closing Sentence: Psychoanalysis, in general, provides a foundation on which to build theoretical
meaning of a literary work. However, as stated, the findings will be different to each person and
relevant only them. Each reader will have a different

Pros And Cons Of Semi-Automatic Transmission
DISCUSSION In past years, transmission includes the right angle drives and other gearing in
windmills, horse powered devices and steam engines that supports pumping, milling and hoisting.
This has been modified in most modern gearboxes that are being used to increase the rotation while
reducing the speeding like in a motor crank which is an arm attached at the right angles to the rotating

Mostly drivers wonder how a semi automatic vehicle can be operated. This is actually a hybrid form
of transmission. When it is said to be hybrid, it is a mixture of manual and automatic transmission
where an integrated control system handles manipulation of the clutch automatically, but the driver
can still and could take manual control of gear selection. Based on the research made, semi automatic
transmission is sometimes called a clutch less manual , or automated manual transmission. Mostly of
this transmission, the driver is allowed to fully delegate gear shifting choice to the control system
which acts as like it was regular automatic transmission. Semi Automatic Transmission or SAT does
not change gears automatically, but rather helps manual gear changes by giving out the need to press a
clutch pedal at the same time as changing gears. It uses electronic sensors, pneumatics, processors and
actuators to shift gear on input from the driver or by a computer. SAT is designed to provide a better
driving experience through fast overtaking vehicles on highways. Some motorcycles also use a system
with a typical gear change but without the need for manual clutch operation. Semi automatic
transmissions have also made their way into the truck and bus market in the early

Child Nurse Personal Statement
Throughout my childhood and teens I have grown up watching shows such as causality and holby city
which inspired me dramatically as it allowed me to gain more knowledge and understanding about a
hospital environment. From then I knew I wanted to be a child nurse and I wanted it to be part of my
everyday life. As soon as I started researching the role of a child nurse, I knew it was the perfect
career for me as children s nurse. I work in a care home where I have learnt basic caring skills and
some new skills that I would use as a nurse. I have also improved my communication skill and have
learnt to adapt my way of communication to be able to suit the needs of the different individuals. I
have also learnt to listen to families of the residents by taking note and taking action of the concerns.
Being part of a team has taught me to communicate with colleagues about the care of resident and
issues in the care home and I have learnt how to act upon an emergency situation. I also enjoy that
none of my shifts are the same and look forward to the challenge in child nursing. In unpleasant
situations I have learnt to put my own views and feelings to the side and focus on the needs and
beliefs of the residents I m working with. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nicolas Des Innocents In The Lady And The Unicorn
The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier is a story about an artist trying to make his break right
before the emergence of the Renaissance in Paris. Nicolas Des Innocents who is not only an artist but
a womanizer, gets commissioned to do a very big important job for a high ranking official. For a
young artist like Nicolas this was huge deal. He arrives at the estate to meet with the master of the
house. He is hired to design the tapestries for the large entertaining room. The man of the house, Jean
Le Viste, asks for the tapestries to depict the scenes of a battle. However Le Viste s wife convinces
Nicolas to change the design to women interacting with a unicorn. When at the Le Viste estate he
meets a beautiful woman whom he immediately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the character development of Nicolas is accurate for this time period because he is a new
aspiring breakout artist just as the period of art being important is commencing. Many people during
this time were creating different forms of art such as music, paintings and sculptures, and theater. It
seems like this would be precisely the right time for a young man to try to make his way in the
business which is one of the reasons why Nicolas agrees to do this job he is not very comfortable with.
Another historically accurate representation of the renaissance was the role of women. In the book
Nicolas goes from one woman treating them with no respect. This was the way women were treated
during this time, as if they were property of men. He does not have any care for their feelings and no
loyalty to just one woman. Another example of this was when he made this young girl pregnant and
abandoned her to care and raise a baby on her own. Nicolas views woman as something to play around
with instead of real people. One thing that was historically inaccurate was the idea that Nicolas easily
traveled from Paris, France to Brussels, Belgium a large amount of times very quickly. He was able to
be transported back and forth many times to work on the project all within a short amount of time.
This especially seemed incorrect because the usual mode of transportation at this time was by water
on a ship, but there

Pseudomonas In Cystic Fibrosis
Contact with germs is a concern for people with cystic fibrosis. Sticky mucus build up in the lung
allow these germs to thrive and multiple (About Cystic Fibrosis, 2013). Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a
gram negative bacteria very commonly carried around by healthy individuals without any symptoms.
But for people who are ill and have weak immune systems, this bacteria can cause a deadly infection.
Infection is hard to treat because Pseudomonas aeruginosa can resist many antibiotics. Pseudomonas
aeruginosa is spread easily in hospitals by health care professionals and uncleansed medical
equipment. This serious infection can cause pneumonia in the lungs and cause septic shock if released
into the blood stream (CDC 2014). Therefore, the exposure to ... Show more content on

Differences Between German Culture And American Culture
Culture makes people understand each other better. And if they understand each other better in their
soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers. But first they have to understand that
their neighbor is, in the end, just like them, with the same problems, the same questions. Paulo
Coelho. According to Paulo Coelho, in order to better overcome the worldwide obstacles, we should
try to understand each other s cultures. Through this paper, I will try to show you the main differences
between German culture and American culture. I have always felt as if I have grown up around the
German culture, but it took me living there for an extended period of time to see that there are indeed
differences between the two cultures. While I identify with both cultures and have both nationalities, I
identify stronger with some traits of the American culture yet do the same with some of the German
culture. Through this paper, I will be using different models to show the similarities and differences,
as well as I hope to gain a deeper understanding of both cultures as well.
The Iceberg Model of Culture describes a culture s behaviors and practices, interpretations, and core
values. This particular model is interesting to look at, because it shows, how a culture is perceived (the
tip of the iceberg) and the actually culture (the 90% that is hidden). When looking at the German
culture the most things that come to mind would be: beer, lederhosen and dirndls, Oktoberfest,

Arguments For Self Identification
A different argument for self identification comes from an old social norm developed during the era of
slavery known as the one drop rule. This rule states that a multiracial person is assigned to the race
with the lowest social standing among the races represented. Going off of previous history and other
social norms, the hierarchy would be as follows: non Hispanic white, Asian, Latinos, and lastly black.
When forcing a youth to choose between one of their multiple races, those with some black or Latino
heritage are far more likely to report being black or Latino than those with white or Asian heritage are
to report being white or Asian (Herman 2009). Herman s study in 2009 examines the difference in
grades between students of mixed races. Her ultimate conclusion is that self identification is the main
indicating factor in academic achievement. Students possessing black or Latino ancestry are
associated with decreased grades whereas students with white or Asian ancestry tend to do better.
However, she also looked at the difference in grades between students of the same biracial category
who self identify differently. Those who identify as Asian or white do significantly better in school
than those who identify as black or Latino. An interesting conclusion from the study shows that where
there is a difference between those who identify as Asian and those who identify as white, there is
almost no difference in if the student identifies as black or Latino. In an attempt to

Ultrasound Technology Essay
What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves.
It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following
happens: High frequency sound pulses (1 5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine
into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as
soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back
to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected
back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The distance
and time from the probe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The probe also has an acoustic lens this helps to focus the emitted sound waves. The transducer probe
can come in many different shapes and sizes. The field of view depends on the shape of the probe.
Also the frequency of the waves emitted determines how deep the sound waves will penetrate and also
the resolution of the image that will be produced. Probes can be used to move across the body but they
can also be inserted through various openings. E.g. orally, this enables the probe to get closer to object
that is being examined. Being closer to the object may allow for more detailed views.
The central processing unit is basically the brains behind the ultrasound machine. It is a computer that
sends the electric current to the probe to tell it to emit the sound waves. It also receives the electrical
pulses from the probe which received the sound waves that were reflected back. The CPU processes
all the calculations and all the data the probe receives. Once this information has been processed, the
CPU forms an image on the monitor. It can also store the data into its memory. Transducer pulse
controls allows the operator of the machine to set and change the frequency and duration of the
ultrasound pulses.
The display or the monitor allows for the data that has been processed by the CPU to be displayed as
an image. Images can be displayed in black and white or in color depending on the make and model of

Why Whaling Should Be Allowed
Did you know that about 236,000 whales were killed in the 19th century? Whaling can be a very
controversial topic for a couple of years now. Whaling the practice or industry of hunting and killing
whales for their oil, meat, or whalebone. Fishermen kill whales for materials, food; and sometimes
even money. Whales can be killed by fishermen because they are needed for essential materials, and
are also used as a food source. Some people think that whaling should not be allowed because it is
destroying the population of whales. Whaling should be legal around the world because of two main
reasons. Whales are used as a food source, and for essential materials like oil, and fertilizer. One of the
main reasons whaling should be legal is because whales are used for food around the world.
According to the article, How whaling works, it says Whale meat became breakfast, lunch and dinner
(Perry 1). This explains how important whales are for food because it shows that people ate whale
meat all of the time, and it was the only thing that people ate. Another piece of evidence is in the video

In the article Whales and Hunting, it states, The primary products of the Yankee whale fishery were
sperm oil, spermaceti, whale oil and whalebone and occasionally ambergris if any were discovered

for lamp fuel and other purposes. Another piece of evidence is in the video on the abc website which
says, Commercial whaling in Australia goes back almost 200 years and it was a big business. Blubber,
which is the fatty stuff found under a whale s skin, was used in things like soaps, candles and
cosmetics (Thiele 1). Whales are important to get materials from because they make soap, and other

many good qualities such as; constant symbols and hidden meanings throughout the story, beautifully
written and composed, and the real life issues that the story takes its viewers through. The Glass
Castle is a very enjoyable and insightful read that I would definitely recommend for someone to read.
Throughout the entire book the reader is constantly confronted with hidden meaning and symbols that
add depth to the story. One of the major symbols is the glass castle itself, and how it represents the

Assisi Compliation Essay
Further, Vauchez writes:
Francis fell to the ground filled with joy, but he did not really understand what meaning this vision
might have. He then rose and reflected. It is then that the stigmata began to appear on his own body.
According to the Assisi Compliation, written after 1250, Francis having arrived at La Verna, was
praying for God to let him know his will when he saw birds of every kind come and perch on his little
cell, each singing in its turn, which he greatly admired and which consoled him. And, as he was
wondering about the meaning of this miracle, he was answered interiorly that God would give him
many consolations in this place. After which: Among other graces, hidden or manifest, which the Lord
sent to him in the visions of the Seraph which filled his soul with consolation and brought him
extremely close to God for the rest of his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis and St. Bonaventure? I think not; however, we can have our own experiences of joy and

image of the signs which was not less marvelous. There and then the marks of nails began to appear in
his hands and feet, just as he had seen them in this vision of the crucified man. (Chapter 13. Section 3)

. . and self care for the behavior and well being of children and adolescents (p. 473). The second type
of child care is family day care which consists of child care in a home other than the child s own. This
type of day care can be beneficial to the child because family day care providers typically have
activities and play areas to accommodate the children they care for. However, much like in home child
care, family day care providers generally do not have adequate child care training. Center based child
care, on the other hand, is arguably the most effective non parental child care resource. According to a
text by Berns (2010), she lists the qualities of center based child care when she says that caregivers are
More likely to have had college courses related to and experience with children (p. 177). Not only do
child care centers typically offer a range of physical activities for children within their play areas, but
educated child care providers generally follow a planned curriculum for children to assist them with
developmental skills. Berns (2010) points out that Socialization is not only affected by the type of
care, but also by the curriculum implemented (most often found in center based care) (p. 177). Now
that the three types of child care have been discussed, it is important to understand the influences of

Lab Report On Chemical Weathering
Jesus Chavez
Chemical Weathering
Background Information:
First of all chemical weathering is when there is rainwater that is able to react with mineral grains in
rocks to form new minerals and also soluble salts. This type of reaction would usually occur when the
water is slightly acidic. For this reaction to occur it needs water and would occur more rapidly at
higher temperatures for example damp and warm climates would be the best for this reaction to occur.
Chemical weathering usually happens more often in the spring because this is when it is more humid
and hot outside and that is what chemical weathering needs for it to occur and also when it is usually
hot or humid there will also be water.
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to simulate the effects of slightly acidic rainwater on rocks and
minerals.
Hypothesis: If the level of acidity rises of the solution being placed on the rock or mineral then a
greater amount of dissolving will happen because of more acidic solution will destroy more chemical
bonds in the rock/mineral.
Procedure:
Get a scale and record the initial mass of the limestone chips
Get 5 50mL beakers and fill the first one with 30 mL of water
Fill the second beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:1 M)
Fill the third beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:2 M)
Fill the fourth beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:3 M)
Fill the last beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength: 6 M)

  • 2. Setting Of The Most Dangerous Game The setting that Richard Connell creates to The Most Dangerous Game is so important for the plot to be believable. For instance, the story needs to be on an isolated island. If the short story was not on a remote island than it would be very easy to escape from General Zaroff. So there would not be a story to tell if his captives could get away easily. Since they are on an isolated island Zaroff does not have to worry about them running or swimming away because where will they go. When Rainsford is getting hunted he thinks to himself, He was in a picture frame, and his operations, clearly, must take place within that frame (11). Rainsford realizes that he was trapped on the island. Another reason the setting is so important for the plot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roy Medvedev Analysis With the destruction of the Tsarist regime, Russia stood at a crossroads no state had ever been at. For the first time ever, a Socialist nation advocating Communism had managed to create a functioning state. The works of Marx and Engels, pushed forth as the cure for the oppression of the proletariat, had fallen successfully on the ears of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who, with his theory of the Vanguard party, pushed the Russian Empire into the Soviet era. Leninism became the central tenant of the Soviet system, being advocated and admired by every successive Soviet leader, and by many in modern Russia to this day. • 5. Speech On Secularism It cannot be denied that in a multicultural and a multifarious religious state, secularism cannot be given any precise definition. It is a tool in the hands of the State to use it judiciously for the promotion of inter communal peace and harmony, and to ensure, depending on the peculiarities of each case, that all the communities receive equal treatment. India waited another twenty seven years to enshrine secularism as one of the objectives of the nation. On 1 September 1976, through the 42nd Amendment Act, passed during an internal emergency, the words secular and socialist were formally added to the preamble of the Constitution. Then proposed constitutional changes can be considered under the following heads: (i) Amendability of the Constitution; (ii) Fundamental Rights; (iii) Directive Principles ... Let anyone say that socialism or secularism is incapable of definition (sic). Well, in order to accept that argument of the Law Minister , one may say that democracy in that sense is also incapable of definition because, it is understood in different ways in different countries. But, there is consensus on the way we practice democracy. In the same way, the meanings of the words socialism and secularism are well understood and embedded in the Constitution. Thus, all the argument seems futile but the main objective of the amendment to the Preamble was a very important and fundamental feature of the Amendment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Lymph Node Transfer Lymph Node Transfer WHAT IS LYMPH NODE TRANSFER? Lymphedema is caused by the damage or removal of lymph nodes. Lymph nodes cleanse lymph, the fluid that drips from the blood vessels. Without properly working lymph nodes unwanted cells are passed through the blood resulting in lymphedema. However, this can be treated; lymph node transfer is a microsurgical transplant in which the lymph nodes are taken from a healthy limb and put into the limb with lymphedema to wipe out the unwanted cells. The transferred lymph nodes connect to the lymphatic system in the limb they were place in, replacing the damaged or removed lymph nodes. This will cleanse the lymph of the unwanted cells, which brings down the swelling. It has been reported that the procedure works best when done in the earlier stages of lymphedema, lymph node transfer works best in the arms than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The doctor looks through a microscope to carefully harvest the healthy vascularized lymph nodes and vessels (picking out ones that won t result in lymphedema), by removing a flap of tissue containing the healthy lymph nodes 4. Another incision is made in limb containing lymphedema. 5. The doctor prepares it for the flap of tissue containing healthy lymph nodes, by removing a flap of damaged tissue. 6. The doctor then reconnects the blood vessels 7. Physical therapy is continued to help the limb containing lymphedema reduce its swelling and increase its mobility RISKS As said before, lymphedema is caused by the damage or removal of lymph nodes in the lymphatic system. When the healthy lymph nodes are taken from the patient s body that limb can be left vulnerable to lymphedema because it s lymph nodes had been removed, which is the cause of lymphedema, but this is uncommon for this procedure. Other risks include bleeding, infection, and the clotting of blood vessels to the lymph nodes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Choosing the runway is an analytical decision, as information needs to be analyzed correctly. An airport s ATIS will list the active runways in use for departures. If multiple runways are being used for departure, pilots will need to anticipate the runway they will use. Pilot will use their location relative to the runways, direction of departure, and previous experience to decide on a runway. Pilot s previous experience can be heuristic as certain airport conditions lead to specific runway operations. It is sometimes referred to as tribal knowledge when anticipating the correct runway. Sometimes airports will use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There can also be a runway change after the initial assignment, which leads to the task starting all over. Time is the biggest stressor in this decision. A pilot always wants to anticipate the correct runway so that it will reduce their workload during taxing. If they picked the wrong runway they then have a lot of work starting the request task over in a short period of time. The second decision looked at will be deciding if the received data is correct and valid to accept and use. This decision can be either intuitive analytical. Analytical is the correct way to make the decision however. The decision is analytical because pilots are supposed to verify all the information that was used to compute the takeoff data such as wind, altimeter, flap setting, and runway. That takes additional time but is the correct method. Most pilots make the decision using intuitive decisions making. Pilots receive preliminary takeoff data during their preflight. If the v speeds on the final takeoff data received is within a knot or two of the preliminary takeoff data v speeds pilots will use that as their check. They can accomplish that much quicker and use it as a shortcut. If any of the information isn t correct for the situation it is important pilots catch it or it can lead to invalid data being used. • 10. Analysis Of The Simple Meter By The Solmization 1. For the examples in the simple meter, the solmization could be briefly divided into two groups. The first group focuses on the metrical positions. Each beat in the measure is either spoken as numbers or specific syllables, and the subdivisions are either specified with distinct different syllables (e.g. the third and fifth one) or not as precisely defined (e.g. the forth one). The second group focuses on the duration of the notes, as seen in the last 3 examples. The sixth example assigns a specific syllabus to a rhythmic value, while the seventh is a little more vague on that, while it has a better ability to emphasize strong beats as the quarter note gets the ta and ti lies on accented moments most of the time. The last one which uses well known words makes use of the natural speech rhythm to perform the job of the syllables in the sixth and seventh example. The examples which emphasized note value still operate in the same way as simple meter when it comes to compound meter, but the others show more variations in thoughts. The first example counts the subdivisions as the basic unit. In this case, instead of thinking in meter, it acts more like the ti ri ti ri method which focuses on the duration of the notes. The ones which still focuses on the meter (2,3,4,5,8,9) still make use of the syllables to subdivide the beat. • 14. Life In The Iron Mills And The Simplification Of Black... Life in the Iron Mills the Simplification of Black Suffering. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills illustrates class conflict and the exploitative nature of American industrialization. It has been regarded as one of the first notable examples of American realism that portrayed the burdens of industrial factory workers. Davis uses slavery comparisons throughout the novella, this rhetoric threatens the potency of her work. Class disparities serve to isolate the impoverished from the bourgeois, this alienation exists because of class but Davis seeks to create this division by race. For example Hugh is worn down and blackened by his hard labor. This comparison becomes problematic when she equates the mill workers position with that of chattel slaves. By doing so she ignores the realities of both struggles, Davis rhetoric could lead some to believe that the plight of mill workers is even more severe than slavery. Though in reality the two only share a few similarities, factory work was far less severe than chattel slavery that lasted over two centuries. Davis used this comparison since she was able to witness the atrocities of both chattel and wage slavery during her lifetime. The use of a slavery comparison would be understood by readers since abolition was controversial at the time Iron Mills was published. Yet black suffering is only a device to describe the main subject of white mill workers, she inaccurately depicts chattel slavery and downplays ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So much that I went ahead and started reading chapter 6, just to get a feel of where walkable urbanism was headed. Leinberger presents a case that would allow cities to encourage, allow and promotes places for individuals to live and have accessible places to go via walking. The chapter focuses on human well being, rather than limit infrastructure and resources to encourage automobile travel only. The author Christopher Leinberger clarifies the origin of such an appeal and proves that it is the unambiguous choice experienced in the 20th century. In chapter five, Leinberger argues about demographics and money. He pointed out that the reduced prices of oil resulted to sub urbanism. That was the way most things were to me regarding science; I was bombarded with formulas and equations to memorize with no intention of actually using them. While I was told that I was good at chemistry and was able to work hard and do well in the class, it was not until I sat in a real medical research laboratory that my passion for chemistry began. It was quite the adjustment for me; the answers to my questions could not be found in a book. I soon realized that memorizing formulas would not suffice; I needed a way to visualize intricate ideas on the subatomic level. But this is what made me love the experience the challenge. Everything we did used chemistry concepts but took it a step further. The goal was not to get the right answer; with each step we were closer to a solution for patients struggling with cancer. Depleting nature of the conventional energy sources and increasing cost of electrical energy are forcing mankind to look for possible modifications in the existing systems towards lower energy consumption without sacrificing the purpose for which it is used. The household refrigerator used extensively all over the world for preserving various food products is one such system which accounts for the substantial part of the house electricity bills. Refrigerator is a machine which lifts up the heat from low evaporator temperature (pressure) and pumps it against the high condenser temperatures (pressure). Following were the objectives decided for achieving this aim: 1. To study the literature on domestic refrigerator with higher evaporator temperature in the temperature range of 265K 270K. 2. To study existing domestic refrigerator including lower temperatures. 3. To design and fabricate a suitable capillary tube to be used with the modified refrigerator to provide required evaporator temperature. 4. Original Technical Writing Guide And Why I Redesigned The purpose of this memo is to give you a better understanding on what revisions were made to the original technical writing guide and why I redesigned it in the way that I did. Summary This document as whole, was missing a lot of crucial information that I felt needed to be included in a technical writing guide. As a whole, I believe that my redesign of the document will prove to be more useful and more navigable than the original that was presented. In the discussion, I will be analyzing each part of the guide that I felt needed to be revised. Discussion One of the first things that will stick out from the guide is the color scheme chosen for both the text and background, blue and green text on a beige background respectively. Since this is supposed to be an academic resource for engineering students, I felt it was most appropriate to have a white background with black text, thus helping to bolster the professionalism of the document. When I first opened the document, I felt as if it was very distracting and possibly may have been written for those in high school, but upon further inspection, I discovered that this was written for students at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Unless this is a cultural difference of some kind, I feel as if the author merely wanted to attract readers to use the guide. When reading a work of fiction, multiple ways exist in which to interpet the meaning held within the story. B. Utilizing literary theories when reading fictional literature increases the understanding of the meaning behind the language of the story. 1. Psychoanalysis, specifically Lacanian mirror stage, provides one interpretation surrounding the identification of self. 2. Application of Jacques Derrida s deconstruction, while some aspects are borrowed from psychoanalysis, functions differently to obtain the interpretation. C. Psychoanalysis Strength: Holland suggests we all read literature selectively, unconsciously projecting our own fantasies into it and reshaping it to suit our individual identities (Rollin and West 12). C. Analysis: Rollin and West state, If we acknowledge our personal involvement openly; if we make clear the choices we have made and why we have made them, we have an opportunity to bring ourselves to a poem, story, or play more completely than other theoretical systems allow (Rollin and West 12). D. Psychoanalysis Weakness: The inherent weakness surrounding Lacanian psychoanalytic theory is in the basics of the theory formation. Lacan made selective use of citations for his theory and ignored theories that may have unsubstantiated his claims. This lends itself to the realization of each interpretation being solely related to the person doing the interpreting. (Billig 6) E. Analysis: Findings associated with mirror stage theory are highly speculative and relative to the individual reader; thus, no true fact can be gained from the literature. F. Closing Sentence: Psychoanalysis, in general, provides a foundation on which to build theoretical meaning of a literary work. • 23. Pros And Cons Of Semi-Automatic Transmission DISCUSSION In past years, transmission includes the right angle drives and other gearing in windmills, horse powered devices and steam engines that supports pumping, milling and hoisting. This has been modified in most modern gearboxes that are being used to increase the rotation while reducing the speeding like in a motor crank which is an arm attached at the right angles to the rotating tube. It is used to convert circular motion. The decrease in speed produces a mechanical advantage, increasing rotation or force. Let us discuss one of the common vehicle being used by common people before this study discuss the motor vehicles with different transmission. The most basic one that uses human powered turn or move is of course the bicycle. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mostly drivers wonder how a semi automatic vehicle can be operated. This is actually a hybrid form of transmission. When it is said to be hybrid, it is a mixture of manual and automatic transmission where an integrated control system handles manipulation of the clutch automatically, but the driver can still and could take manual control of gear selection. Based on the research made, semi automatic transmission is sometimes called a clutch less manual , or automated manual transmission. Mostly of this transmission, the driver is allowed to fully delegate gear shifting choice to the control system which acts as like it was regular automatic transmission. Semi Automatic Transmission or SAT does not change gears automatically, but rather helps manual gear changes by giving out the need to press a clutch pedal at the same time as changing gears. It uses electronic sensors, pneumatics, processors and actuators to shift gear on input from the driver or by a computer. SAT is designed to provide a better driving experience through fast overtaking vehicles on highways. Some motorcycles also use a system with a typical gear change but without the need for manual clutch operation. Semi automatic transmissions have also made their way into the truck and bus market in the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nicolas Des Innocents In The Lady And The Unicorn The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier is a story about an artist trying to make his break right before the emergence of the Renaissance in Paris. Nicolas Des Innocents who is not only an artist but a womanizer, gets commissioned to do a very big important job for a high ranking official. For a young artist like Nicolas this was huge deal. He arrives at the estate to meet with the master of the house. He is hired to design the tapestries for the large entertaining room. The man of the house, Jean Le Viste, asks for the tapestries to depict the scenes of a battle. However Le Viste s wife convinces Nicolas to change the design to women interacting with a unicorn. I think the character development of Nicolas is accurate for this time period because he is a new aspiring breakout artist just as the period of art being important is commencing. Many people during this time were creating different forms of art such as music, paintings and sculptures, and theater. It seems like this would be precisely the right time for a young man to try to make his way in the business which is one of the reasons why Nicolas agrees to do this job he is not very comfortable with. Another historically accurate representation of the renaissance was the role of women. In the book Nicolas goes from one woman treating them with no respect. This was the way women were treated during this time, as if they were property of men. He does not have any care for their feelings and no loyalty to just one woman. Another example of this was when he made this young girl pregnant and abandoned her to care and raise a baby on her own. Nicolas views woman as something to play around with instead of real people. One thing that was historically inaccurate was the idea that Nicolas easily traveled from Paris, France to Brussels, Belgium a large amount of times very quickly. He was able to be transported back and forth many times to work on the project all within a short amount of time. This especially seemed incorrect because the usual mode of transportation at this time was by water on a ship, but there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And if they understand each other better in their soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers. But first they have to understand that their neighbor is, in the end, just like them, with the same problems, the same questions. Paulo Coelho. According to Paulo Coelho, in order to better overcome the worldwide obstacles, we should try to understand each other s cultures. Through this paper, I will try to show you the main differences between German culture and American culture. I have always felt as if I have grown up around the German culture, but it took me living there for an extended period of time to see that there are indeed differences between the two cultures. While I identify with both cultures and have both nationalities, I identify stronger with some traits of the American culture yet do the same with some of the German culture. Through this paper, I will be using different models to show the similarities and differences, as well as I hope to gain a deeper understanding of both cultures as well. The Iceberg Model of Culture describes a culture s behaviors and practices, interpretations, and core values. This particular model is interesting to look at, because it shows, how a culture is perceived (the tip of the iceberg) and the actually culture (the 90% that is hidden). This rule states that a multiracial person is assigned to the race with the lowest social standing among the races represented. Going off of previous history and other social norms, the hierarchy would be as follows: non Hispanic white, Asian, Latinos, and lastly black. When forcing a youth to choose between one of their multiple races, those with some black or Latino heritage are far more likely to report being black or Latino than those with white or Asian heritage are to report being white or Asian (Herman 2009). Herman s study in 2009 examines the difference in grades between students of mixed races. Her ultimate conclusion is that self identification is the main indicating factor in academic achievement. Students possessing black or Latino ancestry are associated with decreased grades whereas students with white or Asian ancestry tend to do better. However, she also looked at the difference in grades between students of the same biracial category who self identify differently. Those who identify as Asian or white do significantly better in school than those who identify as black or Latino. An interesting conclusion from the study shows that where there is a difference between those who identify as Asian and those who identify as white, there is almost no difference in if the student identifies as black or Latino. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1 5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The distance and time from the probe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The probe also has an acoustic lens this helps to focus the emitted sound waves. The transducer probe can come in many different shapes and sizes. The field of view depends on the shape of the probe. Also the frequency of the waves emitted determines how deep the sound waves will penetrate and also the resolution of the image that will be produced. Probes can be used to move across the body but they can also be inserted through various openings. E.g. orally, this enables the probe to get closer to object that is being examined. Being closer to the object may allow for more detailed views. The central processing unit is basically the brains behind the ultrasound machine. It is a computer that sends the electric current to the probe to tell it to emit the sound waves. It also receives the electrical pulses from the probe which received the sound waves that were reflected back. The CPU processes all the calculations and all the data the probe receives. Once this information has been processed, the CPU forms an image on the monitor. It can also store the data into its memory. Transducer pulse controls allows the operator of the machine to set and change the frequency and duration of the ultrasound pulses. Whaling the practice or industry of hunting and killing whales for their oil, meat, or whalebone. Fishermen kill whales for materials, food; and sometimes even money. Whales can be killed by fishermen because they are needed for essential materials, and are also used as a food source. Some people think that whaling should not be allowed because it is destroying the population of whales. Whaling should be legal around the world because of two main reasons. Whales are used as a food source, and for essential materials like oil, and fertilizer. One of the main reasons whaling should be legal is because whales are used for food around the world. According to the article, How whaling works, it says Whale meat became breakfast, lunch and dinner (Perry 1). The second type of child care is family day care which consists of child care in a home other than the child s own. However, much like in home child care, family day care providers generally do not have adequate child care training. • 37. Lab Report On Chemical Weathering Jesus Chavez Chemical Weathering Background Information: First of all chemical weathering is when there is rainwater that is able to react with mineral grains in rocks to form new minerals and also soluble salts. This type of reaction would usually occur when the water is slightly acidic. For this reaction to occur it needs water and would occur more rapidly at higher temperatures for example damp and warm climates would be the best for this reaction to occur. Chemical weathering usually happens more often in the spring because this is when it is more humid and hot outside and that is what chemical weathering needs for it to occur and also when it is usually hot or humid there will also be water. Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to simulate the effects of slightly acidic rainwater on rocks and minerals. Hypothesis: If the level of acidity rises of the solution being placed on the rock or mineral then a greater amount of dissolving will happen because of more acidic solution will destroy more chemical bonds in the rock/mineral. Procedure: Get a scale and record the initial mass of the limestone chips Get 5 50mL beakers and fill the first one with 30 mL of water Fill the second beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:1 M) Fill the third beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:2 M) Fill the fourth beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:3 M) Fill the last beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength: 6 M) Then place ...
