The Centaurus Project in Islamabad is one of the largest construction projects underway in
Pakistan. With an estimated cost of Rupees 25 billion, it will on completion comprise two
residential and one office buildings, a seven star hotel and a shopping mall. Designed by the
renowned UK architect firm Atkins, China State National Construction Engineering Corporation
is spearheading the construction work as the lead contractor. As in our lectures of Project
Stakeholder Management, we have studied about the Project stakeholders, its different categories
and communication management. You are required to answer following questions in the context
of The Centaurus Project.

The Centaurus Project in Islamabad Stake holders take part as per the project can be broadly
classified in following categories
Primary stake holder:
• Shareholders including acting and sleeping partners in that project
• Keep resources in hand
• Higher consultant for monitoring and supervising
It is a project of the Pak Gulf Construction (Pvt) Ltd (PGCL) in Islamabad . Pak Gulf
Construction Company is a joint venture between Al Tamimi (Saudi Arabia) and Sardar Builders
(Pakistan) (the Centaurus)
Secondary stake holder:
• Lead Contractor
• Sub-contractors
• Real estate firms that purchase during projects since it is a commercial/residential project
• Architect
• Design the project (here the project is design by Atkins)
• Keep its involvement throughout the project
• Main decision maker for any design variation
External stake holders:
Suppliers/traders
Inter-organizational stake holders
• Project managers
• Construction managers
• Estimation engineers
• Planning engineers
These personnel play vital role in project cost effective and timely execution.
Project manager is the team leader of entire team of any project .So it’s his core responsibility to
scrutinize work man ship at every stage and set up a plan before execution with the help of

planning department, Because with execution planning it becomes difficult to evaluate miles
stone when required and communication somehow suffer because of lack of planning. Once the
planning is done, time line is set and execution has been started, what next and the most
important aspect of project smooth succession is communication. (institute)
Interactive communication
Project manager must call upon meetings on every major issues regarding any design variation,
major decision that will be adhered for complete time line of project. He must intimate all stake
holders that has direct link with project including contractors, sub-contractors, consultant and
shareholders.
Push communication
In order to track down the project progress and compare it with the forecasted progress with
reference to the set time line, Project manager should issue memo or letter to managers working
under him, to report him weekly/monthly(subject to the requirement) progress reports.
Define work man ship policies and issue them to site via letter, memo with strict compliance, so
that no compromise would be done on the quality at any stage of project.
