      • You MUST be proactively managing your career
      • Your resume is NOT enough
      • You are in sales and marketing now!
      • You have to promote yourself to increase your chances of being found

      • Buy a domain of your consistent name

      • You need a place to send people
        • Own domain, free blog, LinkedIn, Facebook?
      • Submit to google – google.com/addurl
      • Claim home base on technorati and top search engines
      • Blogs – not everyone has a voice
        • Don’t unless you can keep your content fresh
        • Blog about what you want to be known for – not your kids or your bizarre hobby

      • Fill out EVERY “About” page
      • Synch your social media
      • All social media point to “home base”

      • You MUST change your public link to your consistent name!
        • This helps Google find you/ + page rank
      • Change your public profile to full view
        • Complete profile = visibility!
        • You will appear in more searches
      • Keyword load – don’t be overt.

      • MAKE IT EASY TO BE FOUND!
      • Keyword search of qualifications
      • You want to be at the top of any search results list:
        • By # of connections
        • By # of recommendations
        • By keyword relevance
      • Own as many of these as possible

      • Connections = Visibility!
      • More connections mean you will appear in more searches
      • Do not use the standard connect email!
        • Remind them how you know each other
        • End with contact info in case they want to connect outside of LI
        • Reference your Home Base
      • Toplinked.com – connect with 1 or 2 and your network will explode!
    12. Generating Clicks/Traffic
      • Write recommendations
      • ASK for recommendations
      • More recommendations means your will show up in more searches
      • Posting relevant status updates
        • great way to keep you “Top of Mind”

      • Today – 1/5 of ALL net users on Facebook – practically a 2 nd internet!
