4. THEOCRACY
A theocracy is a religious form of ruling in which the
country is totally subordinated to the religious hierarchy.

- Monks
They have authority in
religious and non religious
matters.
7. VATICAN CITY
• Vatican City sovereign
city-state whose territory
consists of 44 hectares
and a population of just
over 800, inside city of
Rome. This makes Vatican
City the smallest
internationally
recognized independent
state in the world by both
area and population.
• The Pope is also the Head
of State and Government
of the Vatican City State.
8. THEOCRACY IN VATICAN
In 1929, the State of Vatican City was recognized as
an independent state through treaties with Italy.
The head of state of the Vatican is the pope,
elected by the College of Cardinals.
A pope is elected for life. They may resign.
11. ISLAMIC THEOCRACIES
An Islamic state is a state
that has adopted Islam
and Sharia law system.
Sharia is the official state
law in Afghanistan, Iran,
Nigeria, Mauritania,
Saudi Arabia, Somalia,
Sudan, and Yemen.
12. SHARIA LAW IN THEOCRACY
Sharia is the moral code
and religious law of
Islam. Sharia deals with
many topics:
- crime and politics
- economics
- hygiene and diet
- prayer and fasting
In its strictest definition it
is considered the law of
God as opposed to the
human interpretation of
the laws.
