From a small fleet of 37 buses and just 2 bus services in 1982, SMRT Buses has
progressed to operating more than 1,400 buses and running 89 bus services in
Singapore as of 2017.
SMRT Buses provides commuters with a
safe, affordable and reliable mode of
transport.

9. • Parallel Bus Service BPS1: Bi-directional
supplementary bus service which serves as an
additional travel option during weekdays at
peak hours.
Special Bus Services
In addition to the normal bus routes, the special
bus routes are:
Bukit Panjang Choa Chu Kang
Parallel Bus Services include temporary rail
replacement services, such as Joo Koon –
Bukit Gombak Parallel Bus Service from
June to December 2016.

border service to Johor Bahru,
Malaysia.

scheduled time
• Accident rate ̶# 0.59 per 100,000 bus-km per month
• Headway Adherence ̶# 97.29% (At least 85% of bus
services should adhere to within 5 minutes of their
scheduled frequency)
• Bus Breakdown Rate ̶# 0.75 per 100 operating buses on
all bus services monthly
