Research overview
ILRI’s research on value chains in Vietnam focuses on smallholder pig
systems in the country and aims for a thriving, inclusive pig sector that is
environmentally sustainable, efficient and consumer friendly.
The pig value chain approach focuses on bringing about transformative
changes in selected livestock systems, partnering for impact at scale and
supporting research for development and sustainable impact.
It aims to address development challenges by working in the areas of
markets, livelihoods, animal health, food safety, feeds and forages, value
chain transformation and sustainable innovations.
ILRI’s work on pig value chain in Vietnam also includes capacity building
among partners, facilitating uptake of productivity-enhancing
technologies/strategies, enabling market actors and producers to reduce
risks and comply with changing demand and standards, and influencing
policymakers.
