Mobility as a Service (MaaS) combines both public and private transportation services through a single gateway that allows users to plan, book and pay for multi-modal trips using a single account. MaaS aims to reduce car ownership by providing travelers with a variety of transportation alternatives that are easy to use. Countries like Finland have adopted a MaaS approach with the goal of decreasing reliance on personal vehicles. For MaaS to succeed, integrated systems are needed that bring together different transportation agencies and modes in a scalable way to offer maximum convenience to users.
