Procedures
Warm up:
We will start our class displaying a video about animal’s abilities (https://m.youtube.com/watch?
v=_Ir0Mc6Qilo) in order to progressively introduce them to the new topic: “CAN/CAN`T”.
Activity 1
After the video presentation, we are going to explain, as well as introduce them, new vocabulary
related to the different abilities presented in the song through flashcards previously designed by the
teachers.
Once the new vocabulary is explained, we are going to ask them questions such as what can you
do? Can you swim/ride a bike...? Always combining the questions with the use of flashcards so as
to guide them. However, we will not tell them the meaning of CAN yet as we want them to get the
meaning by themselves.

Practice II
Example:
I CAN speak English but I CANNOT ride a bike.
Homework:
We will ask students to write isolated verbs according to the abilities they have. The aim of this
homework is to provide students with opportunities to use the new verbs, since they have rarely used
them previously. For example, run, walk, dance, etc. The next class we will introduce the complete
CAN structure and we will use their own abilities as examples.
