Grounds:
Based on Resolution 181/12 of the Federal Council of Education,
teaching English Language is recognized "integrated to the set of knowledge
that is taught in school" (Res.CFE n ° 181/12, p. 2), from an intercultural
perspective that allows not only to increase the knowledge about the language
(s), but also to form "citizens who are respectful of linguistic and cultural
differences" (p.2) invoked by various Languages.
From the area of English as a Foreign Language, we aim to recognize
diversity and heterogeneity in the classroom through a teaching-learning
process based on solidarity, respect, cooperative work and the inclusion of
each and every one of the students. For this reason, in this sequence, it is

planned to continue working transversally with the topic of ‘Children’s
Rights’, but this time making fundamental emphasis on their rights and
responsibilities within the classroom and in contact with the rest of the group.
Moreover, the use of technological resources will accompany the
teaching-learning process so as to put into practice the children’s right to make
every voice heard beyond the classroom environment. Similarly, videos, songs
and educational flashcards will be used to complement materials previously
prepared by the trainees intended to use during the didactic sequence and that
will allow the trainees to work with varied activities, taking into account the
students’ different ages as well as the possibility to assist the multiple
intelligences present.
For all the reasons mentioned above, it is planned to work with the
'Present Continuous' tense so that students learn to describe actions that are
occurring at the moment of speaking, as well as to complement those
descriptions with the use of prepositions of place. Finally, trainees will focus
on the use of 'Must and Must't' structures to express obligation, in order to
reflect together with the students about their corresponding co-habitation rules
within the school.
Teaching aims:
- To guide the group class in the recovery of previous knowledge.
- Guide students to work with new language resources.
- To monitor the individual and collective performance of the students in each
activity.

- To use technological resources (computers and projector) in a transversal
way when teaching English.
- To encourage oral and written production in English through the use of the
linguistic resources learnt.
- To encourage the oral participation of all students in the classroom using the
English language.
- To provide an encouraging environment in which students may feel
comfortable so as to express themselves in written and oral form.
- To promote the use of English language as a useful tool to express
themselves inside and outside the academic setting, as well as to motivate the
group to continue learning the language.
Learning objectives:
- To interact with the trainees and the class group through diverse ways and
productions.
- To describe actions and locate objects and people through the oral and
written use of English language.
- To ask and answer about actions happening at the time of expression using
the foreign language.
- To express obligation through the written and oral use of English language.
- To reflect upon Children’s Rights.

- To check writing strategies in written production as well as phonological
aspects and pronunciation when expressing themselves about Children’s
Rights.
- To use technological resources to solve the activities and to look for
necessary information.
Knowledge:
- Axis related to oral comprehension: Listening and understanding oral texts
in English, coming from technological resources such as CDs, videos, etc.,
aiming to different strategies, as well as understanding simple instructions
with the help of gestures and non-verbal language.
- Axis related to oral production: The production of oral texts, individually
or collectively, based on non-verbal language.
- Axis related to reading skills: Reading sentences and descriptive and
expository texts related to the topics seen.
- Axis related to writing skills: Gradual and progressive writing of simple
sentences and texts, individually and collectively, in physical and digital
format, making use of the linguistic resources seen, with different
communicative purposes and the constant help of the trainees.
- Axis related to intercultural reflection: The perception of cultural
particularities from the encounter with other culture (s) and the recognition of
linguistic diversity.

- Axis related to the reflection about the language learnt:
 The reflection, with the help of the trainees, on some fundamental
aspects about the operation of the foreign language that is being learnt.
 The incorporation and reflection on varied and contextualized language
practices that favour the learning of the foreign language.
Language Practices to work in 6th Grade
 To describe actions happening at the moment of speaking, using the
Present Continuous tense.
 To locate objects, rooms and people using prepositions of place.
 To express obligation using the modal verb must/mustn´t.
Session 1 – Class 1
The class will begin by giving each student a badge with their
corresponding names, previously prepared by the trainees, with the aim of
knowing and identifying the students as well as generating a friendly and
comfortable environment. Then, in order to introduce the "Present
Continuous" tense and relate it with previous topics, a Power Point projection
will be used, in which different images recovered from previous works on
Juanito Laguna - character illustrated by the Argentine painter Antonio Berni -
will be presented, analyzed and described orally, with the help of the trainees
while doing a multiple choice activity; for example: 'Juanito is collecting
trash'.
Next, a photocopy will be given, containing an activity in which
students will have to describe images by completing sentences and using verbs

given in Present Continuous tense (for example: 'They are studying at
school'). Finally, there will be an oral correction of the activities, in which the
students will be able to share their answers with the trainees and the rest of the
group. During this last correction, an oral analysis of the images seen will be
done, taking into account the Children’s Rights, for example, recognizing the
rights already studied in these images and identifying if they are respected or
not.
As optional activity and depending on the time available, a final
instruction will be assigned so that the students continue working with the
grammatical structure of the tense studied. So, they will be given a photocopy
in which they will have to number different characters according to the actions
each of them is performing, for example: '2- Glenda is cleaning the table'. In
the case the activity is finished, it will be corrected orally, encouraging the
participation of all the students.
Materials used: Whiteboard, photocopies, Trainees’ computer, projector,
badges.
The class will begin by making an oral review of the concepts
previously discussed, with the help of the folders and the photocopies used,
inquiring the group about the activities done the previous class. Then,
students will be given a photocopy with a True or False activity they will have
to complete according to four (4) videos that will be shown, emphasizing the
topic: Children’s Rights. The videos will last approximately forty (40) seconds
each and they will refer to some of the rights previously studied, for example:
the right to healthy and nutritious food, the right to medical services, the right

to have a family and the right to have identity. In the same way, students will
have to assign a title for each of the videos. Finally, the activity will be orally
corrected with the help of the trainees by using the whiteboard as support to
mark the correct answers, so that each student can express their solutions and
opinions.
Later on, students will be given a photocopy containing an activity in
which, individually, they will have to number sentences describing actions in
the image shown. After this, the activity will be corrected orally with the help
of the trainees, who will try to assist all the doubts and opinions of all the
students, previously having gone around the classroom, helping the students at
their corresponding seats. In case the activity cannot be finished, the trainees
will ask students to complete it as homework to check it next class.
Materials used: Whiteboard, photocopies, projector, Trainees’ computer.
The class will start by assigning the students a Word Search game,
which will be represented in a poster previously prepared by the trainees,
which will help at the time of the oral correction of the activity. In this activity
students will have to find, in pairs, 15 (fifteen) ‘-ing’ verbs - Present
Continuous tense – so as to get familiar with the vocabulary they will use
later.
Next, students will be given a netbook every four students to work on
the blog of the subject, and there they will have to write, individually, for each
image uploaded, at least two (2) sentences that describe actions, using the
Present Continuous tense and the verbs previously seen; for example: ‘Will is

eating an ice-cream’. This activity will be corrected at home by the trainees.
By the end of the class, students will be asked to carefully and orderly turn
their computers off.
Materials used: Whiteboard, photocopies, computers, poster.
The class will begin by showing the students a video with a song called
'In On Under' (about prepositions of place: 'on, under, between, behind, in
front of and next to') that will be used to introduce the topic: Prepositions of
place. Then, with the aim of tracking knowledge and understanding about the
concepts seen in the video, seven (7) educational flashcards, previously
prepared by the trainees illustrating the prepositions studied will be used.
After watching the video, the students will be asked if they remember what
each preposition refers to. Later on, they will be given a photocopy to work
with in pairs, in which they will have to write the corresponding preposition of
place, according to the different images show. In order to check the activity,
the flashcards already seen will be used as help and the trainee will try to
continuously encourage the participation of the students, who will be able to
share their answers with them and the rest of the group. Just in case the group
does not respond as expected, the trainee will try to motivate them so that they
do not feel ashamed to participate or being wrong, since learning from our
mistakes is also part of the learning process.
As optional activity and depending on the time available, students will
be asked to individually write in their folders at least two (2) sentences, using
the prepositions of place to locate their classmates and the teachers within the
classroom depending on how they are sitting; for example: 'The teacher is in

front of the students'. The sentences will be corrected individually by the
trainees, who will then ask the students if any of them wants to read their
sentences aloud so as to share them with the rest of the group.
Materials used: Whiteboard, photocopies, projector, trainees' computer,
flashcards.
The lesson will begin taking up the topic: Children’s Rights and
Responsibilities, but this time related to their behaviour within the classroom.
In that way, students will be given a photocopy with images, in which they
will have to analyze their rights and responsibilities in the classroom, making
emphasis on their obligations when respecting their classmates’ rights. In the
activity they will have to match the rights with the corresponding obligations,
and then it will be solved in groups, orally and with the help of the trainees
Next, the trainees will ask students to work in pairs, and each pair will be give
two (2) photocopies, each of them containing an image the students will have
to use to write their classroom’s rules. Also, together with the images, the
photocopies will show verbs and expressions the students may use with must
and mustn’t, so as to express obligation. Moreover, the trainees will explain
the activity by showing students two examples, such as ´We must follow rules
and treat others fairly’ – ‘We mustn’t bully or harm other’. Just in case the
activity is not solved during class, it will be assigned as homework.

The lesson will start by returning to the last activity assigned as
homework the previous class, so that students may share their productions
orally. Moreover, the trainees will ask students to stick each image onto a big
poster that will show their ‘Classroom code of conduct’ that later will be
attached to one of the classroom’s walls.
Then, the trainees will try to make a revision of the topics studied
during the didactic sequence, so as to clear up doubts and questions the
students may have, before being evaluated the next class. In the same way,
they will be assigned to do two (2) activities that combine the use of
prepositions of place and the Present Continuous tense. In the first one, the
students will have to follow some instructions given in order to solve a riddle,
while in the second one, they will have to state whether certain given
sentences are right or not, according to the image shown and analyzed. Both
activities will be done orally, all together and with the help of the trainees and
the flashcards already used, always encouraging the students to share their
doubts with the rest of the group and to not feel fear of being judged, with the
purpose of continue on learning the language.

So as to formally evaluate students, they will be assigned to do three
activities in written form. In that way, the trainees will try to evaluate what
students can produce individually by giving them three (3) activities similar to
ones they already worked with in class.

Before giving back the evaluations to the students, they will be asked
about their impressions about the test, and at the same time, they will be
shown some answers with the most frequent mistakes, in a general and non-
personalized way, so as to check the activities all together. Later on, the
evaluations will be given back, and the trainee will try to reflect together with
the students about the language resources learnt as well as about the
Children’s Rights studied so far, always trying promote the use of the English
language as a useful tool to express themselves inside and outside the
academic field, as well as motivating the group to continue on learning it.
Finally, the trainee will assign a Memo-test game to perform in groups
of four or five students, in which they will have to match eight (8) images with
the corresponding phrases describing the actions shown in the images. In the
same way, they will have to match the cards with the corresponding Rights
reflected in the images. The game will be intended to integrate all the topics
seen during the didactic sequence; for example: 'She is sleeping' referring to
the children’s right to have a decent home: 'We have the right to have a
house'. Finally, the trainee will give each student a present so as to thank them
and she will day goodbye to them.
