The play "From the Mississippi Delta" is a story about a young black girl named Phelia and takes place during the civil rights era, in Greenwood,
Mississippi. Phelia's mother worked as a midwife for white families, it was during that time when Phelia was only eleven years old that she was raped
by a white man at the home. From that point forward Phelia acted out by indulging in prostitution, exotic dancing, and stealing, which eventually led to
incarceration and becoming an unwed mother. Phelia's mother is also killed later on in the play when her home is firebombed by the Ku Klux Klan.
Although heartbroken, Phelia uses her mother's death as motivation to fulfill her destiny and move north. Despite the unfortunate circumstances and

the idea that anything can be achieved and adversity can be overcome with hard work and perseverance. Phelia experienced a great deal of trauma

Charley Patton is known as the father of the delta Blue. His official year of birth is unknown but is speculated to be between 1887, 1891. He wasn't

Bryant and Milam had done an interview only a few months after the trial, in January of 1956, with Look magazine, for $4,000. In this interview
they had confessed to the entire murder and exactly what and how they did it. However, since both men were protected by double jeopardy laws,
they could not get tried again (Biography 4). Another spark in the case had occurred just recently in a book called, The Blood of Emmett Till by
Timothy Tyson. In this book he had interview the very same woman who had started this entire case, Mrs. Bryant. When asked about her testimony,
she had said, "That part's not true," when talking about the supposed verbal and physical advances Till made towards her. She had also stated that,

the death and mourning process of her beloved son, Emmett Till. Hundreds and thousands assembled to hear her speak about getting justice for her

Mississippi the unhealthiest state in the country. This may be attributed to Mississippi's a high poverty rate because poor people tend to eat less
healthy. A lot of people in Mississippi has lack of physical activity so that could be another reason. Obesity in adults and children is a top health
concern in Mississippi. In 2012 Mississippi had the highest obesity rate in the country. In 2011 it was reported that 44% of Mississippi's kids were
overweight or obese and 70% of the adults were and that it is most prevalent in the Mississippi Delta. Along with obesity go a slew of other health
problems including diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Another cause of obesity in the Delta is the lack available fresh produce in
places. In one store in the Mississippi Delta, bananas were starting to turn black in their only grocery store. If you really want quality fresh produce
food or fruit you must drive 30 to 45 minutes to find a good grocery store.
