I believe that we have met the needs/expectations of our clients in ensuring that the advert is
interesting and engaging for potential students to enrol to Ringwood school/Sixth form. By
creating a stylized sound scape we hope to achieve a unique why of selling Ringwood
school/sixth form, an evident why of seeing this within our advert is by the voice over at the
end saying "search Ringwood school so you can do it all" we decided as a group that parents
(of the possible year 7's) & leaving year 11's will most likely search up Ringwood school
before taking action to visit the open days, so to introduce these open days we first direct
them to the website to then the website suggesting the open day's.
Within our verbal feedback form our clients, they disclosed that they enjoyed the idea of Les
Miserable (Next years big show, which is a particular highlight of Ringwood school/sixth
form) being sung by one of performing arts students. So taking this idea on we used one of
our performing arts students to sing "Do you hear the people sing" which was the highlight of
our advert. One change that our clients suggested was that the younger school (year 7 advert)
was to have a different backing track to our main sixth form advert, we took this suggestion
and found free fair use backing track which suited the light-hearted tone of Ringwood school
(lower years).
Our form for the advert was based on the technique of sound scaping:
Soundscape - The leader or one member of the group acts as conductor (our main
BTEC performer sing Les mis), whilst the rest of the group are the 'orchestra'(café
sounds, people playing football, etc). Using their voices (and body percussion if
appropriate!), the group paints a soundscape of a particular theme or mood, for
example the seaside, a city, a jungle (or Ringwood School).
I think this advert presents the essence of Ringwood school/sixth forms atmosphere and I
believe is very effective with the use of the soundscape.
As we have stated from the beginning of the campaign we would ensure to take the correct
legal action to secure the rights/use of "Do you hear the people sing - Les Miserable". This
includes contacting people, paying for temporary rights and discussing of how to present the
sing within our advert. We have recorded the majority of our own sounds (with permission
from our voice actors) and sounds which we have not recorded ourselves have made sure that
they are free and under the fair use claim. So by reviewing the legal & ethical requirements of
our advert I believe we have met this with great detail.
Our advert is unique in terms of form and style (which will make our 30 second advert stand
out), however I have heard a couple of advertisements use this same approach, research these
types of adverts in more detail, I noticed that they had a higher success rate in drawing in
clients which was the main reason for our group stylising our advert to this form.
As a group I think we worked well independently as well as worked well together.
Strengths within our group were:
Good understanding of audio advertisement
A collective of creative people & ideas
An overall a good understanding of clients & audience
Great understanding of an advert campaign as a whole
However our group did meet a few weakness along the way but were soon sorted once
understood:
Weaknesses within our group were:
Time management
concentration
lack of communication
If having to change anything with our advert I would have probably liked to have had more
time to sort out editing, and generally have liked if we had more people singing as to
demonstrate a full show.
But overall I am pleased with the outcome of our advert and pleased with the effort me & my
team put into our work.

  • 1. I believe that we have met the needs/expectations of our clients in ensuring that the advert is interesting and engaging for potential students to enrol to Ringwood school/Sixth form. By creating a stylized sound scape we hope to achieve a unique why of selling Ringwood school/sixth form, an evident why of seeing this within our advert is by the voice over at the end saying "search Ringwood school so you can do it all" we decided as a group that parents (of the possible year 7's) & leaving year 11's will most likely search up Ringwood school before taking action to visit the open days, so to introduce these open days we first direct them to the website to then the website suggesting the open day's. Within our verbal feedback form our clients, they disclosed that they enjoyed the idea of Les Miserable (Next years big show, which is a particular highlight of Ringwood school/sixth form) being sung by one of performing arts students. So taking this idea on we used one of our performing arts students to sing "Do you hear the people sing" which was the highlight of our advert. One change that our clients suggested was that the younger school (year 7 advert) was to have a different backing track to our main sixth form advert, we took this suggestion and found free fair use backing track which suited the light-hearted tone of Ringwood school (lower years). Our form for the advert was based on the technique of sound scaping: Soundscape - The leader or one member of the group acts as conductor (our main BTEC performer sing Les mis), whilst the rest of the group are the 'orchestra'(cafĂ© sounds, people playing football, etc). Using their voices (and body percussion if appropriate!), the group paints a soundscape of a particular theme or mood, for example the seaside, a city, a jungle (or Ringwood School). I think this advert presents the essence of Ringwood school/sixth forms atmosphere and I believe is very effective with the use of the soundscape. As we have stated from the beginning of the campaign we would ensure to take the correct legal action to secure the rights/use of "Do you hear the people sing - Les Miserable". This includes contacting people, paying for temporary rights and discussing of how to present the sing within our advert. We have recorded the majority of our own sounds (with permission from our voice actors) and sounds which we have not recorded ourselves have made sure that they are free and under the fair use claim. So by reviewing the legal & ethical requirements of our advert I believe we have met this with great detail. Our advert is unique in terms of form and style (which will make our 30 second advert stand out), however I have heard a couple of advertisements use this same approach, research these types of adverts in more detail, I noticed that they had a higher success rate in drawing in clients which was the main reason for our group stylising our advert to this form. As a group I think we worked well independently as well as worked well together. Strengths within our group were: Good understanding of audio advertisement A collective of creative people & ideas An overall a good understanding of clients & audience Great understanding of an advert campaign as a whole However our group did meet a few weakness along the way but were soon sorted once understood:

Weaknesses within our group were: Time management concentration lack of communication If having to change anything with our advert I would have probably liked to have had more time to sort out editing, and generally have liked if we had more people singing as to demonstrate a full show. But overall I am pleased with the outcome of our advert and pleased with the effort me & my team put into our work.
