Evaluation
1. By Madeleine Parker12N
Evaluation of my main/ lower school radio advert
I have made sure that I have met the needs, requirements and expectations of the clients by
ensuring that I have stuck to the 30 second time limit, conveyed all of the key information in
order to advertise the open day for the lower school correctly, used appropriate voice
actors and a relevant and appropriate script for the purpose required and after the pitch of
our advert to the client we adapted the scripts and responded accordingly to the advice
given by the clients in order to improve the adverts and make them more appealing to the
client.
We have considered all of the likes given by the clients at the pitch which are; simplicity, and
creative idea, the scripts attract their attention and were presented well with the music, and
the scripts were clearly thought about and the fact that students will be used in the adverts
as voice actors which I believe we have responded to and conveyed really well within our
adverts.
We have also considered all of the improvements and dislikes given to us by the clients
during our pitch which were; the adverts scripts were a little long, particularly if you are
using sound effects which responded to by shortening the adverts scripts so that the adverts
donβt sound as rushed and crammed, another dislike was that in the pitch they would have
liked to see how the lower main school ad would differ from the sixth form advert which can
now clearly be heard the differences when the adverts are listened to and you can clearly
hear how they are aimed at 2 different audiences, they also mentioned about shortening
the scripts which I have already mentioned how we have acted upon this improvement in
order to improve both of our adverts to make them more appealing to the clients.
The content of my radio advert (lower main school radio advert) follows the correct and
appropriate form and style for the clientβs needs and requirements and to attract the
correct target audience for the open day, being year 6 students and their parents, male and
female, Working to middle class, perhaps above average spending power inferred from
area.. The audio tour also gives the audience a quick snippet of whatβs on offer and grabs
their attention well into the advert making them more likely to want to know more. The
avert stands out from other schools dues to the audio tour and the use of students, the
audio tour also makes it more catchy and memorable.
I believe that my advert does meet all of the legal and ethical requirements and we have
thoroughly considered them all during the production of our advert. We have made sure
not to use any inappropriate language, follow guidelines set by the ASA council and board
(advertising standards authority) to ensure that our radio advert can legally be broadcasted
onto the radio. I also made sure to use royalty/ copyright free music and sounds in my
advert to ensure that we donβt get prosecuted by the rightful owners of the music.
I believe that my advert sounds how you would expect it to hear a advert on commercial
radio because the speech is all very clear and can be easily understood, the voices arenβt too
fast, the voices arenβt over powered by the background music and sound effects, the
message is conveyed across well and the audio tour makes it catchy and memorable to the
audience.

I believe that overall we worked quite well as a group. We planned out all the necessary
things well and fairly across the group such as the synopsis, script and we presented the
pitch really well as a group, however when it came to recording I believe that we could have
donβt with a little more planning and better time management because we had a few
disagreements over this however we did manage to easily sort the situation out and
effectively and produce 3 well recorded adverts.
