Breaking Home Ties: Rockwell's Interpretation of the Empty Nest Syndrome The feeling of grief and loneliness parents may feel when their
children leave home for the first time in order to live on their own or attend a college or university is known as the Empty Nest Syndrome. When
my parents and I watched my older brother venture out of the only home he had known for eighteen years to begin a new chapter of his life, I

My lifespan was no longer as teenager or a young adult. I was employed, going to college and living on my own in an apartment, my lifespan had
matured in to adulthood, into which I met a man got engaged and later became a mother This transition at 20 years of age impacted my life greatly
because I no longer, was responsible for myself by another human being was dependent upon me. It was my responsibility to teach them the
necessary things need in life to grow and thrive in society, academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. In addition to becoming a mother I was
also married, therefore this event of becoming a wife was an additional role to motherhood that would shape my identity and responsibilities of who I
had to become. The event of marriage and childbirth, made me feel older and more mature. It made me feel I had to become more responsible, and
had a greater sense of expectations from others that I had to achieve at this point in my life.
Now I am currently in a middle age part of my life experience "empty nest syndrome."
This phase of my life span is still shaping my identity. I am now more aware of the importance of self care and wellness. I know longer find reason or
an excuse not to do something that will bring happiness to me, and learning to appreciate life more so
