This document discusses the target audience for a music magazine. It was originally aimed at younger audiences but research showed that age group may not purchase the magazine often enough. The target was changed to young adults who could afford to buy the magazine more regularly and would be interested in its festival and artist content. As the magazine focuses on genres like R&B, pop, and grime, it appeals to individualists through unique artists featured. However, it also appeals more mainstream audiences through topics like music festival lineups.
2. PSYCHOGRAPHICS
The media product which was produced was a music
magazine which is for young adults and for a R&B, Pop
and Grime genre. The fact that the magazine tries to
tick all the boxes listed about shows that there
audience are people which are individualists as they
are trying to promote a way in life that everyone is
different within the world and the magazine itself
promotes this significantly.
They promote this by the artists in which they follow
and advertise as they are unique, independent and
confident in the direction they wish to lead.
3. PSYCHOGRAPHICS
Even though the magazine is aimed at individualists
due to the topics it faces and artists they use. It would
also be aimed at mainstreamers
This is due to the fact that most of the population is
quite mainstream meaning they go with the flow and
don’t particularly stand out. So by including topics like
wireless line ups and 10 commandments from a
chosen artist is entices a certain customer base.
Also by reading the magazine it could even change the
mainstreamers allowing them to take there own path if
that’s in music or what they wear due to being
inspired by artists within the magazine.
4. AUDIENCE
Originally I was wishing to aim my music magazine at
a younger audience however after carrying out my
research I was able to find out that it wouldn’t be an
effective audience due to the fact that they may not
spend the money on a music magazine.
Also it would be harder to create customer loyalty with
that generation making me change my target market
to young adult. Then I am still reaching quite a young
crowd however this age group are able to afford the
product more often and would be interested in the
topics which the magazine cover such as festivals.
5. RESEARCH
So over the period of time I spent editing and creating
the magazine who it would appeal to changed to make
sure the magazine was aimed at the correct market.
Also another reason why it changed was du to my
research which I carried out. From this I was able to
conclude that young adults would suit the magazine
more due to the genre of Bebop. As even the language
used by artists of this genre would not be appropriate
for young students meaning they are less likely to buy
the magazine or even have it bought for them.
6. INFORMATION WITHIN THE
MAGAZINE
A key factor of Bebop is discount and
information of different festivals now
there are many age restrictions of festivals
and gigs which is usually 16 meaning
anyone under the age would be unable to
go. This meant it wouldn’t be effective to
aim the product at an age group which
were unable to use the give always and
visit the place which were being
