1. Age
My media product will be specifically aimed at people between
the ages of 13-18 (teenagers) as the Pop genre is the current
trend that young people are listening to when it comes to music.
Also, they are an audience that is inspired by their favourite
celebrities and aspire to be like them. Therefore, they are
interested in following information about their favourite artists
to get insight into their lives. So with making my magazine
product I had to give interesting information for my audience to
read and be engaged in the feature stories I have provided.
2. Gender
• For the gender of my magazine, I focused mainly on Females as they take
up the majority of many Pop magazine sales in the music industry.
Therefore, I had to conform to females by providing an aesthetic for my
product that appealed more towards that audience with bright colours,
prizes and makeup tutorials within my media product. In order, to
emphasise this I provided images of makeup and controversial information
that is giving the sense of gossip as the information given to them is
exclusive to my music magazine.
3. Social class
• The social class of my magazine was considered through the aesthetic of
my magazine as to whether it would appeal to a higher social class. The
content I had provided was not written formally and was written to appeal
to a lower social class. Therefore, my audience were of working class
status as the price of my magazine benefitted that social class as my
media product was cheap/affordable. In order to understand my audience
further, I researched the type of social classes that purchase a Pop
magazine. I did this by carrying out research by using questionnaires and
asking people what their social class was and what type of magazines they
purchase.
