The War Of The Creek War
American Hitler
Andrew Jackson was the "by–any–means" type of American, who had no real concern for the long–term effects of his actions. He would gladly
slaughter a tribe of Natives to further U.S. holdings, as a matter of fact, he did, several in fact. However, although Jackson committed a great deal of
such atrocities, some of which are incredibly well–known, he's still viewed as, above all else, a national hero by some in the present–day. Prior to
Jackson's presidency, wherein the great majority of well–known Jackson–driven atrocities against the Natives occur, Jackson proved to be a monster for
the Natives. After the Creek War, Jackson happily punished the Creeks, whether they be friend or foe. The Creek War was originally an internal
conflict between two subsets of the Creek people, but Jackson saw this as an opportunity to force the Natives to cede land. Much of the conflict was
between the Lower Creeks, whom Jackson would eventually "ally" with, and the Upper Creeks, A.K.A. the Red Sticks, who, unlike the Lower Creeks,
were highly opposed to the U.S. encroachment and subsequent assimilation. As time passed and conflict progressed amidst the Creek people, outside
involvement became an integral part of the war. Militant forces from several southern states amassed forces to combat the Red Sticks. Jackson himself,
on Tennessee's behalf, led a party of approximately 1,000 men along with an additional contingent ofCherokee warriors. After his, and America's, first

Gutfreund was fired upon with an AK–47 nearly cutting him in half but his actions saved his roommate, coach Tuvia Sokolovsky, and gave him
enough time to smash a window and escape. Wrestling coach Moche Weinberg fought back against the intruders, who shot him through his cheek and
then forced him to help them find more hostages. Leading the kidnappers past Apartment 2, Weinberg lied to the kidnappers by telling them that the
residents of the apartment were not Israelis. Instead, Weinberg led them to Apartment 3, where the terrorists corralled six wrestlers and weightlifters as
additional hostages. As the athletes from Apartment 3 were taken back to the coaches' apartment, Weinberg again attacked the kidnappers, allowing
one of his wrestlers, to escape through the underground parking garage. Weinberg knocked one of the group members out and stabbed another with a
knife before being shot to death. A weightlifter also attacked and wounded one of the intruders before being shot and killed. "The terrorists were left
with nine living hostages. They were, in addition to Gutfreund, shooting coach Kehat Shorr, athletics coach Amitzur Shapira, fencing master Andre

A New Position As Director Of Industrial Operations
In November 1981, I began the new position as Director of Industrial Operations (DIO). There was much work to do.: The bus availability was u,
unacceptable, the Commissary had a terrible reputation, and there was no security plan; important as the DIO was also the Security, Plans, and
Operations (SPO). I charged the Motor Pool Lieutenant for two plans; improve bus availability and establish a Community Shuttle Bus route that would
take people from the housing areas to the Commissary. We implemented both plans a week later. We advertised the new shuttle bus and I road it often
to ensure its timeliness and utilization. I hired a security officer to write a plan and coordinate it with all the Units and Community Staff. We initiated a

My Master Sergeant Deputy was sitting on the couch in my office and noticed a shadow on the wall just outside the window behind my desk. He
called my attention to it, and we looked out the window. There was a 1–inch diameter rope coming down from the roof above. The workers had
finished so he and I went up on the roof to get a better look. When we got up there, we saw the rope attached to a large fire extinguisher and tied off
on a vent pipe. There was a note that read: "Greetings from the Baader–Meinhof Gang." We cleared the entire facility and called the Quick Response
Battalion to activate the quick response plan. The Criminal Investigation Division and the bomb squad came, but no Battalion response team. They
found a fire extinguisher bomb with 13 pounds of TNT in it. That was my 8th near death experience, but more importantly, the bomb's timing exposed
the kindergarten located just below it. I activated the emergency response plan, but the responsible battalion didn't respond. I was furious, but the Chief
of Staff said it was better that we kept it low profile. Politics dictated no Armored Personnel Carriers should be roaming the downtown streets.

Leon Trotsky, a Leader of the Bolshevik Revolution and...
Most historians agree that throughout his political career Trotsky displayed various talents and abilities. However, these skills alone were not enough
to enable him to become the supreme leader of the USSR. In the context of the workings of the Bolshevik party to rise to the highest office of the
politburo required certain traits and qualities as well as an ability to utilise the party machine and exploit its members–talents, traits and qualities
Trotsky clearly lacked. For these reasons the statement is highly accurate because in spite of his ability, Trotsky's failure to rise to the 'highest office in
the land' was a consequence of his arrogance, political naivety and inability to turn success into political capital.
This statement is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the many roles that Trotsky undertook in his political career, notably Commissar for War prove that Trotsky was most definitely 'the
most able of men'. According to Service, Trotsky as Commissar for War 'surprised everyone with his organisational capacity and ruthlessness as he
transformed the Red Army into a fighting force'. During his role as commissar Trotsky was able to increase the size of the Red army to three million,
introduced conscription, maintained obedience and discipline by enforcing the oath of the red warrior and the death penalty for deserters and used
ex–Tsarist officers to assist in the organisation of the army. Trotsky's ability to successfully transform the Red Army and the significant role he played
in Civil War are largely the reason for theBolshevik victory and further highlight that Trotsky 'was the most able of men'.
However, despite his ability Trotsky was not able to rise to the highest office in the Land, as he lack political motivation, the personality traits required
and a utilisation of the party apparatus.
Trotsky despite his talents and status as a communist leader was disliked by his peers. His arrogance, condescension and perceived intellectual
superiority alienated many of members of the politburo. If in an address that bored Trotsky he was known to have openly read a novel instead. Lenin
himself raised concerns regarding the assured arrogance of Trotsky in his last testament writing that "he is perhaps the most capable

The Rise of Communism in Russia
The Rise of Communism in Russia
"Unless we accept the claim that LeninÕs coup dՎtat gave birth to an entirely new state, and indeed to a new era in the history of mankind, we
must recognize in todayГ•s Soviet Union the old empire of the Russians –– the only empire that survived into the mid 1980's" (Luttwak, 1). In their
Communist Manifesto of 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels applied the term communism to a final stage of socialism in which all class differences
would disappear and humankind would live in harmony. Marx and
Engels claimed to have discovered a scientific approach to socialism based on the laws of history. They declared that the course of history was
determined by the clash of opposing forces rooted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crowds demanded food and the step down of Tsar. When the troops were called in to disperse the crowds, they refused to fire their weapons and
joined in the rioting. The army generals reported that it would be pointless to send in any more troops, because they would only join in with the other
rioters.
The frustrated tsar responded by stepping down from power, ending the 300–year– old Romanov dynasty (Farah, 580). With the tsar out of power, a
new provisional government took over made up of middle–class Duma representatives. Also rising to power was a rival government called the
Petrograd Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies consisting of workers and peasants of socialist and revolutionary groups.
Other soviets formed in towns and villages all across the country. All of the soviets worked to push a three–point program which called for an
immediate peas, the transfer of land to peasants, and control of factories to workers. But the provisional government stood in conflict with the other
smaller governments and the hardships of war hit the country. The provisional government was so busy fighting the war that they neglected the social
problems it faced, losing much needed support (Farah, 580). The Bolsheviks in Russia were confused and divided about how to regard the Provisional
Government, but most of them, including Stalin, were inclined to accept it for the time being on condition that it work for an

SPANISH CIVIL WAR– WEAKNESS & COLLAPSE Introduction: The second republic was formed after the dictatorship under Primo de Rivera

existence due to the radicalized time, however not to the extent as in most other European nations at the time as Spain was not as heavily involved in

Russian Ideology
Ideologies made a significant amount of contribution to the making of modern Russia. At the beginning of 1856, Russia was an autocratic country
ruled by the Tsar, but when this ruling family was challenged they took preventative means to try to preserve their autocratic powers. Alexander II
made political, social and economic reforms to try to appease the people to stay in power; one of the policies being the creation of the Zemstva.
Nicholas II also created the Duma to preserve his power and keep autocracy; however the lack of real provision for the desires of the people and the
rigidness of autocracy like the reinstatement of the fundamental laws 1906 led to its demise. The fall of autocracy led to democracy, unfortunately for

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, although war was a major contribution to the making of modern Russia through the Crimean War that brought about the realisation of
the need for change, and the Civil War that helped in the production of the NEP, as well as WW2 that brought about the Red Tsar. There were other
huge contributors to the making of modern Russia like the role of the individuals that brought about the change in policies and the ideologies that made
Russia the unique country it was. The role of the individuals is the most important as without the leaders the policies would not have been brought
across; the individuals also generated the ideologies and implemented them. It was also the individuals that brought about realisation after the wars as
AlexanderII realised that Russia was backwards after he war. Without the individuals Russia would not have been the country it was in

The Red Guards During The Middle School
"As one of the Red Guards in the middle school, I was given power through Mao to torture and humiliate our teachers, headmaster or anyone we didn't
like. I didn't know it was wrong. I thought I was doing the right thing to continue the revolution, to fight and win the class struggle"– Zhao, Lin Qing.
As a teenager Zhao was a Red Guard in Guangzhou during the Cultural Revolution. When asked what her impression was a member of the Red
Guards, Zhao answered with two words: "naГЇve and senseless". She refused answering anything more about her experience. She said, "The memories
are still too painful to recall."
The Red Guards were a loosely constructed paramilitary movement initiated during the beginning of the Cultural Revolution in 1966. The first Red
Guard unit was established in Beijing and quickly spread throughout China. The majority of the Red Guard members were young students in major
cities.
The original objective for the Red Guards was to overthrow and eliminate the "Old Four Chinese Customs", "Old Four Groups" and
"Counter–revolutionaries" who were hiding among the general public. The Red Guards targeted literature records, classical antique documents,
museums, historical sites, intellectuals and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members who had been labeled as potential enemies of the "ongoing
revolution". The Red Guards participated in the political movement through interpreted themselves as the latest and purest fighters in the revolution.

How Did Lenin's Use Of Power
Despite having other methods of control such as: Lenin's power and the soviet constitution, the Bolshevik leadership's main method of control was
terror. Although this was the main method of control the Bolshevik leadership only had a certain degree of control over the party that was not great
between 1917, when the party seized power to 1924, when the soviet constitution was established.
Bolshevik use of terror enabelled the leadership to reinforce their hold over the party. This was due to Cheka; Lenin's secret police who were formed
in 1917. Their role was to deal with counter–revolution, sabotage and speculation. This was important to avoid opposition in the party; increasing the
strength of leadership. To create a wider use of terror in 1922 Cheka was replaced with the OGPU, which made arrests and tourtiГЁre more
bureaucratic and discreet. Under Lenin's control one third of the party was purged, this would make the use of terror a main method for ridding the
leadership of opposition and losing support. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The constitution strengthened the control of the Party over outlying regions of the old Russian Empire. This would've been important for part
leadership as by increasing the regions under soviet control they would increase support for the government. The extending of the part to the other
regions tightened authority in the Soviet state. To extend the Soviet Union the Red Army was sent into the regions. This shows a further use of terror by
the Bolshevik leadership. The constitution did mean that party bodies were strictly under control of the central Party structure. Resulting in the
constitution playing an important role in the leaderships control, but as terror was required to inforce it it highlights the importance of terror in the

How Did Lenin React To The Bolsheviks
The Russian Civil War of 1918 was the cumulating of the Russian monarchial government's slow reformation to institute civil reforms and freedoms for
the intelligentsia, the creation and subsequent closing of the Constituent Assembly by the Socialist Revolutionary Party, the embarrassing Treaty of
Brest Litovsk, and the Czarist support of the nobility, who were stripped of their land after the Bolsheviks coup. These emotions came to a head when
a coalition of multiple Russian political parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir Lenin. The power that Lenin and
the Bolsheviks had held for little more than a year had come under attack. The Bolsheviks were now faced with another war in which the direction of

The most dangerous threat to the Bolsheviks was the White Movement, which was formed in the aftermath of Lenin signing the Treaty of Brest
Litovsk. The treaty ceded Russian territories in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, and part of Ukraine to Germany, as well as forced the
demobilization of the Russian military. This humiliation brought much disillusionment of Lenin's direction of Russia, and while Bolsheviks achieved
an end to their part in World War I to consolidate Russia, they were nevertheless painted as "anti–Russian", for giving up so dishonorably. The White
Movement was initially formed by the Menshevik party in opposition to Lenin, but grew to include Tsarist forces, members of the Cadet party, and
Socialist revolutionaries. Whereas the Bolsheviks were a single entity united under Lenin, the opposing coalition of the White Movement was
composed of several political and ideological party goals, and while the Whites were led by former Tsarist Navy officer

The Red Guard Movement Essay
The cultural revolution is a strange period in Chinese history laced with intense struggle and anguish. The cultural revolution mobilized the all of
society to compete for all opposing factions that they belonged to (Ong, 2016). Mao mobilized the young people of society during a background of
political turmoil, which helped Mao to mobilize the students in order to enforce his political legitimacy and ideas (Ong, 2016). Mao's charismatic
authority created his personality cult and most defiantly leant a helping hand in mobilizing the red guard movement (Ong, 2016) (Weber, 1946)
(Andreas, 2007). No matter which faction of the red guard they belonged to, they all mobilized against their common enemy; the better off, upper class.
(Ong, 2016). Multiple ideologies within the youth led red guard movement explain why the movement gained momentum and became incredibly
powerful (Walder, 2009).
The red guard movement can be primarily explained two different theories. The first theory is the lack of political cohesion and party factionalism
among the elites starting during the Great Leap Forward, which boiled into 100 Flowers Campaign and then subsequently the Cultural Revolution
(Meisner, 1999). It is the battle between these elite factions and the prohibition of dissent which resulted in the creation of the Red Guards, which in
effect served as agent for the Maoist faction (Yang, 2000). The second theory would be the breakdown of societal institutions, such as education,

How Did The Great Leap Forward And The Cultural Revolution
The research engages with the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two significant and defining events in Chinese history since the
establishment of the People's Republic of China. The Great Leap Forward (1957–60) was a Chinese economic plan initiated by Mao Zedong aimed at
revitalizing all sectors of the economy. Wildly unrealistic planning poorly planned communization of agriculture, and a poor harvest in 1959 caused
mass starvation. Mao was forced to turn government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished severely and
thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution to regain his popularity.
The Cultural Revolution (1966–76) was the mass mobilization of urban Chinese youth inaugurated by Mao Zedong in an attempt to prevent the
development of a bureaucratized Soviet style of Communism. Mao closed schools and encouraged students to join Red Guard units, which ... Show

democracy. This coupled with the copious allowance for free speech, in the Chinese regard, during the Cultural Revolution and its devastating aftermath
which remained potent in the lives of many individuals lead many Chinese to lose faith in their government altogether. This loss of faith and potency of
unsavoury memories may have pushed many Chinese to look towards a better political and social systemп‚ѕa democratic one. Chinese society was
avidly propagandistic. The aim to maintain a strong communist hold on Chinese society through press and censorship reform had the opposite effect,
even subsequently having to be crushed. Thus the events of the Great Leap Forward and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution can be regarded as
considerable forces that influenced the Tiananmen Movement and thus its consequent

Who Is Leon Trotsky In The Allegory Animal Farm
In 1879, Leon Trotsky was born in Lev Davidovich Brostein on November the seventh in Ukraine (World Book, T). He played a big role in the
Russian Revolution where the Bolsheviks rebelled in 1917. Trotsky was always in second to Lenin in the Soviet Communist Rule. However, in the end
he lost his leadership to Stalin. In the allegory Animal Farm, the author, George Orwell wroteLeon Trotsky as the pig Snowball, a leader in the Animal
Revolution. There are three important facts about Trotsky that made George Orwell pick him as Snowball. The Russian Revolution, after war and his
relation with Snowball is why George Orwell chose Trotsky. First is the Russian Revolution. Before the revolution, Trotsky became a member of the
Menshevik Faction. Then he came to Russia in 1917 after he escaped the St. Peter Soviet of 1903. He joined the revolution despite Lenin's
disagreements and Trotsky had a theory of a permanent revolution ('Leon Trotsky'). In the revolution, he at first was a foreign commissar. When he
negotiated a peace treaty with Germany, he went up to a war commissar and led the triumphant Red Army against the White Army ('Leon Trotsky')....

In order to stop the rebellion, the Bolsheviks were forced to sign a peace treaty: The Treaty of Brest–Litorskon. This treaty handed over Finland,
Poland, the Baltic Provinces, Ukraine and Transcasia to the Central Powers on March 3, 1918 ('Russian Revolution'). Once Lenin died, Stalin came
and took this opportunity to kick Trotsky out of Russia in 1927. Trotsky finally settled in Mexico in 1936; however, it seems Stalin was not done. He

SUBJECT: THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
What is a revolution?
A revolution is a complete radical and pervasive change in the structure of the economy and social structure. And it is mainly due to poverty, starving
society, technology, and communication.
Russian revolution:
The tsar Nicholas II ruled Russia. Russia entered the World War I, under the leader Nicholas II. Russian involvement in the war compounded by
problems and corruption and weak economy reduced the desperate straits. The Russian citizens were threatened because of the shortage of fuel and
bread.

The Russian Revolution widely spread Karl Marx's economic idea of communism. As we know now, communism has not worked out in history but in
the 1900's it was a very popular idea. The Russian Revolution had many outcomes that were good and bad. The main positive effects are that the czarist
rule comes to an end and gives workers and peasants the right to interfere in the Russian society. Moreover, after the revolution, Lenin created free
education throughout Russia. Another positive effect was that Lenin made the eight–hour working day, which greatly improved working conditions.
On the other hand, there are some negative effects resulting from the Russian revolution for sure such as the spread of communism around the world
that was the reason for World War II. Another negative effect was that 15 million people die after the Bolsheviks and anti
–Bolsheviks sweep Russia.
After the revolution, people's freedom was lost and people couldn't read, write, or say whatever they want. People were also not allowed to celebrate
religion as religious leaders were murdered and churches were destroyed.

The economy was in shambles because of the cost of war. Military wise, Imperial Russia was no match for Industrialized Germany. Russia sustained
more casualties than any other country in history. Finally, people began protesting. On March 7, 1917, workers at Putilov, Petrograd's largest
industrial plant went on strike due to their displeasure with the government. On March 8, international women's day, several people, a majority of
them women, began protesting in want of more bread, which was becoming less and less common, due to rationing. Several bakeries had already
closed. By March 10, over 200,000 protesters were on the streets, calling for the end of the war and overthrowing of the Tsar, and almost every
industrial enterprise was shut down. The Tsar, in response, released 180,000 troops to deplete the crowd. However, most were either partially
trained recruits or older working class reserves from the Petrograd area. There was a serious shortage of officers amongst the reserve battalions of
the Imperial Guard which made up the bulk of the troops and the morale and discipline of these units was low. Historians suggest around 12,000 of
the soldiers could be regarded as reliable, but even these proved reluctant to fire on the demonstrators, both out of fellow feeling and because the

Communism In North Korea
There are many different types of political systems in the world today, some good, others not so much. Many countries go through different political
systems before they reach a good fit. In this paper I choose to research about a regime that has always interested me, communism. To a lot of people
communism holds negative connotations but the history behind this form of governance is one of desperation and revolution. Communism is a socialist
movement to create a classless, moneyless, and stateless social order which is structured upon ownership of the means of production, as well as a
social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of this social order. (wiki.) Communism first came about as a theory of how to

Leninists pushed for a creation of a Vanguard Party to help lead the working class revolution to victory. Many believed that the workers would not be
able to organize and develop a socialist conscience without the guidance of the Vanguard party.Marxism–Leninism is a mixture of the two that was
first adopted by the Soviet Union; it is the most prevalent form of communism around the world today. North Korea's leader Kim Il–Sung developed a
political doctrine called Juche in 1955. This doctrine's main emphasis was military and economic self–reliance that was inspired by Marxism–Leninism.
Communism in Modern Days was largely formed out of the socialist movement of 19th century Europe. One could say that communist thoughts
came about once people were tired of the capitalistic society they were living in. Now to take a closer look at communism as it pertains to one
country, North Korea. In the early 20th century communism developed as a political movement in Korea. Over time, South Korea made communism
illegal, but North Korea continued to be a Juche Socialist State under the Workers Party of Korea. The creation of communist North Korea can be
linked back to Alexandra Kim, a Korean living in Russia in 1916. She has been credited as being the first Korean communist because while in Russia
she joined the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (Bolsheviks). When Lenin sent her Khabarovsk to be in charge of external affairs she met with Yi

Stalin was elected General Secretary of the Party in 1922, and although he quickly began to increase his personal power, no one realized how
dangerous he was at this time. As he neared a 1924 death, Lenin began to grow wary of his former protГ©gГ©, and wrote a Testament warning
against Stalin's influence. But the other members of the Politburo, Lenin's circle of advisers, ignored the Testament and allowed Stalin to remain in a
position of power. At this point, Stalin began his rise to dominance by destroying his rival Trotsky, expelling him from the party in 1927 and exiling
him from the Soviet Union in 1929. Meanwhile, he brilliantly played the Politburo's factions off one another, first allying with Nikolai Bukharin and
his "Rightists" to destroy the "Leftists," and then, when his position was secure, turning on Bukharin and destroying his power. By 1930, he stood

Facts About Being Divergent
The greatest power that anyone can have in this fantasy land is being divergent. Being divergent makes Tris Prior one lucky girl. She has the power
to be stronger and more capable of fighting and protecting herself than everyone else that is not divergent. This universe includes five factions that
people are put into based on their aptitude tests with people that are divergent being outliers. If someone is classified under two or more factions then
they are divergent. After finding out that she is divergent, Tris continues to think of her family and starts to believe that she was born in the wrong

Few people are ever classed as divergent and it is considered to be dangerous to tell anyone about being divergent. Divergent is seen as dangerous
because if the wrong people hear about it then they might attempt to take them out. Being divergent makes them a target because they are seen as
stronger than everyone else. They do not fit into one group, they fit into multiple groups. Being divergent makes the person a target of anyone that finds
them a threat, especially people that are seeking power. The target forces most divergent people to be quiet about the fact that they're divergent and they
usually just claim the faction that they associate themselves with. In doing so, they are usually able to not send any red flags and make people think
that they're dangerous. Anyone that tries to control the masses will have the biggest problem being the people that are divergent. She has more skills

At one point, the divide between the two groups was so great that it was suggested to divide society by class in full. Those considered to be from
bourgeois backgrounds would be denied urban services and physically separated from those of truly "red" backgrounds, like the cadres and lower

attempts to smooth out the division already forming within the Red Guard, the seeds of factionalism had already been sown. By the peak of the Red
Guard movement in January of 1967, it had broken down into warring factions and unleashed havoc across China. Because of the Red Guard's lack of
a unified mindset, they lacked common targets to remove as they purged local governments of officials. Groups of Red Guards would senselessly fight

The Muslim world had become more united under effective leaders such as Saladin. This was the upbringing of Christian factions and the concerning

Russian Revolution And The Soviet Revolution
For over three hundred years, Russia had been controlled by an autocratic government known as the tsarist regime. This empire was ruled by a series
of tsars who had absolute dictatorship over the country. (BBC, 2014). From around the time of Peter the Great 's reign, the empire began to impose its
will on the people with absolute disregard for their lives and liberty. This incorporation of force caused repression and unrest amongst the people and
the Russian Revolution was essentially an outburst from this. (Columbia Encyclopedia, n.d). The Russian Revolution consisted of two separate strikes
in 1917, the first of which overthrew the imperial government and the second strike which placed the Bolshevik party in power. The Russian
Revolution evidently brought a drastic transformation to the government, society and economy of Russia. The communist party who took power over
Russia did evidently improve the economy and reshape the military forces which proved vital for Russia in WW2. (Quizlet, 2015). Overall, the
Russian Revolution was beneficial to the country 's development. Today, in modern history we creditVladimir Lenin for the Revolution 's succession.
However, many people forget to acknowledge the role played by Leon Trotsky who stood by Lenin 's side throughout the Revolution. I believe that Leon
Trotsky and his actions during the Russian Revolution were essential to the security of the revolution and therefore his overall impact and status is
heroic.

German Left Wing Terrorists
Prior to Germany's Autumn of Terror in 1977, concrete events lead the country down a path where a necessary political student movement transpired
and very quickly turned the student group into a terrorist organization. Specifically, the attacks in May of 1972 launched the Red Army Factions
crusade against the government and the public. Just like the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, by Bosnian Serb
nationalists sparked World War I, the killing of a teenager, Benno Ohnesorg, by German police sparked a radical student movement that would change
Germany once again. The death of Benno Ohnesorg was also a reminder of government–sanctioned murders during World War II under Hitler, which
was once again present in post war Germany. Moreover, individualism from youths inspired the idea of needing an opposition party so Germany does
not keep bonds with old practices. The youths felt that conservatives needed to be pushed a side in order for the country to move forward. Deriving
from the student protest movement in West Germany, theRed Army Faction's attacks and juvenile reactions, during their first and second generational
existence, ultimately led Germany to a third reign of terror giving even less credibility to the left–wing radical group and their political ideology;
further leading to the leaders suicidal, arguably homicidal, deaths.

Bolsheviks were members of a section of the Russian Social–Democratic Worker's party. The section was led by Vladimir Lenin, who helped the group
seize control of Russia, beginning the Soviet Union. Bolsheviks were founded when supporters of Lenin fought for restriction of membership to
professional revolutionaries, and won. They maintained a highly consolidated, well–ordered, and professional party. The group became gradually
popular among workers and solders after Lenin demanded peace and insisted that the soviets, worker's councils, should be in power. This rise in
popularity is what drove the Bolsheviks to take over the Russian government and set a dominant power, the Soviet Union.
Czar Nicholas II was the last supreme leader of Russia. He was opposed to any and all social reform and stood rooted in his traditional principles. He
was considered an incompetent leader, forcing outdated policies upon the Russian people, especially since he ruled during such a revolutionary time.
His neglect of the Russian citizens and their needs is what established the beginnings of the revolution. In 1917 he was ousted and went into exile.

Terrorism : A Standard Definition Of Terrorism
Defining Terrorism
The United Nations does not have a standard definition of terrorism. In 1994, the UN General Assembly condemned terrorism, as "criminal acts
intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any
circumstance unjustifiable..." Nearly a decade later, UN Security Council Resolution 1566 (2004), defined terrorism as "criminal acts, including against
civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury, or taking of hostages with the purpose to provoke a state of terror in the
general public."
The United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation defines "international terrorism" as activities that must meet three criteria. Activities must "involve
violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law; appear to be intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a
government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily outside of the jurisdiction of the U.S."
The Arab League defines terrorism as "any act or threat of violence, whatever its motives or purposes, that occurs for the advancement of an individual
or collective criminal agenda, causing terror among people, causing fear by harming them, or placing their lives, liberty, or security in danger." The
European Union defines terrorism as acts that "may seriously damage a country or an international organization...or seriously

Research Paper On Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution is the collective term for a pair of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which dismantled the Tsarist autocracy and led to the
eventual rise of the Soviet Union. The Russian Empire collapsed with the abdication of Emperor Nicholas II, and the old regime was replaced by a
provisional government during the first revolution of February 1917 (March in the Gregorian calendar; the older Julian calendar was in use in Russia at
the time). In the second revolution that October, the Provisional Government was removed and replaced with a Bolshevik (Communist) government.

During this chaotic period there were frequent mutinies, protests and many strikes. When the Provisional Government chose to continue fighting the
war with Germany, the Bolsheviks and other socialist factions campaigned for stopping the conflict. The Bolsheviks turned workers militias under their
control into the Red Guards (later the Red Army) over which they exerted substantial control.[1]
In the October Revolution (November in the Gregorian calendar), the Bolshevik party, led by Vladimir Lenin, and the workers' Soviets overthrew the
Provisional Government in Petrograd and established the Russian SFSR, eventually shifting the capital to Moscow in 1918. The Bolsheviks appointed
themselves as leaders of various government ministries and seized control of the countryside, establishing the Cheka to quash dissent. To end Russia's

revolutionary group.
Expelled from university for his radical policies, Lenin completed his law degree as an external student in 1891. He moved to St Petersburg and
became a professional revolutionary. Like many of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Lenin fell ill and died, Trotsky was easily outmanoeuvred by Stalin. In 1927, he was thrown out of the party. Internal and then foreign exile
followed, but Trotsky continued to write and to criticise Stalin.
Trotsky settled in Mexico in 1936. On 20 August 1940, an assassin called Ramon Mercader, acting on Stalin 's orders, stabbed Trotsky with an ice
pick, fatally wounding him. He died the next day.
STALIN
One of the most powerful and murderous dictators in history, Stalin was the supreme ruler of the Soviet Union for a quarter of a century. His regime of
terror caused the death and suffering of tens of millions, but he also oversaw the war machine that played a key role in the defeat of Nazism.
Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was born on 18 December 1879 in Gori, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian empire. His father was a
cobbler and Stalin grew up in modest circumstances. He studied at a theological seminary where he began to read Marxist literature. He never
graduated, instead devoting his time to the revolutionary movement against the Russian monarchy. He spent the next 15 years as an activist and on a
number of occasions was arrested and exiled to Siberia.
Stalin was not one of the decisive players in the Bolshevik seizure of power in 1917, but he soon rose through the ranks of the party. In 1922, he was
made general secretary of the Communist Party, a post not considered particularly

The War Of The Creek War

  • 1. The War Of The Creek War American Hitler Andrew Jackson was the "by–any–means" type of American, who had no real concern for the long–term effects of his actions. He would gladly slaughter a tribe of Natives to further U.S. holdings, as a matter of fact, he did, several in fact. However, although Jackson committed a great deal of such atrocities, some of which are incredibly well–known, he's still viewed as, above all else, a national hero by some in the present–day. Prior to Jackson's presidency, wherein the great majority of well–known Jackson–driven atrocities against the Natives occur, Jackson proved to be a monster for the Natives. After the Creek War, Jackson happily punished the Creeks, whether they be friend or foe. The Creek War was originally an internal conflict between two subsets of the Creek people, but Jackson saw this as an opportunity to force the Natives to cede land. Much of the conflict was between the Lower Creeks, whom Jackson would eventually "ally" with, and the Upper Creeks, A.K.A. the Red Sticks, who, unlike the Lower Creeks, were highly opposed to the U.S. encroachment and subsequent assimilation. As time passed and conflict progressed amidst the Creek people, outside involvement became an integral part of the war. Militant forces from several southern states amassed forces to combat the Red Sticks. Jackson himself, on Tennessee's behalf, led a party of approximately 1,000 men along with an additional contingent ofCherokee warriors. After his, and America's, first ... Black September Black September Black September is both the name of Jordan's war on the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in the early seventies and the name of Palestinian terrorist movement created in revenge of the aftermath of Palestinian losses of the war in Jordan. Black September was a movement created by a break away Palestinian faction of Fatah. Fatah Is a Palestinian political party and the largest faction of the PLO. In Palestinian politics it is a more liberal group on the left wing of the spectrum, it is mainly a nationalistic group with some traits of socialism. Fatah's goal was to have liberation of Palestine and eradication of the Zionist existence. Fatah is not considered a terrorist group by any government. In the late ... Gutfreund was fired upon with an AK–47 nearly cutting him in half but his actions saved his roommate, coach Tuvia Sokolovsky, and gave him enough time to smash a window and escape. Wrestling coach Moche Weinberg fought back against the intruders, who shot him through his cheek and then forced him to help them find more hostages. Leading the kidnappers past Apartment 2, Weinberg lied to the kidnappers by telling them that the residents of the apartment were not Israelis. Instead, Weinberg led them to Apartment 3, where the terrorists corralled six wrestlers and weightlifters as additional hostages. As the athletes from Apartment 3 were taken back to the coaches' apartment, Weinberg again attacked the kidnappers, allowing one of his wrestlers, to escape through the underground parking garage. Weinberg knocked one of the group members out and stabbed another with a knife before being shot to death. A weightlifter also attacked and wounded one of the intruders before being shot and killed. "The terrorists were left with nine living hostages. They were, in addition to Gutfreund, shooting coach Kehat Shorr, athletics coach Amitzur Shapira, fencing master Andre Spitzer, weightlifting judge Yakov Springer, wrestlers Eliezer Halfin and Mark Slavin, and weightlifters David Berger and Ze'ev Friedman. There was much work to do.: The bus availability was u, unacceptable, the Commissary had a terrible reputation, and there was no security plan; important as the DIO was also the Security, Plans, and Operations (SPO). I charged the Motor Pool Lieutenant for two plans; improve bus availability and establish a Community Shuttle Bus route that would take people from the housing areas to the Commissary. We implemented both plans a week later. We advertised the new shuttle bus and I road it often to ensure its timeliness and utilization. My Master Sergeant Deputy was sitting on the couch in my office and noticed a shadow on the wall just outside the window behind my desk. He called my attention to it, and we looked out the window. There was a 1–inch diameter rope coming down from the roof above. The workers had finished so he and I went up on the roof to get a better look. When we got up there, we saw the rope attached to a large fire extinguisher and tied off on a vent pipe. There was a note that read: "Greetings from the Baader–Meinhof Gang." We cleared the entire facility and called the Quick Response Battalion to activate the quick response plan. The Criminal Investigation Division and the bomb squad came, but no Battalion response team. They found a fire extinguisher bomb with 13 pounds of TNT in it. That was my 8th near death experience, but more importantly, the bomb's timing exposed the kindergarten located just below it. I activated the emergency response plan, but the responsible battalion didn't respond. I was furious, but the Chief of Staff said it was better that we kept it low profile. • 5. Leon Trotsky, a Leader of the Bolshevik Revolution and... Most historians agree that throughout his political career Trotsky displayed various talents and abilities. However, these skills alone were not enough to enable him to become the supreme leader of the USSR. In the context of the workings of the Bolshevik party to rise to the highest office of the politburo required certain traits and qualities as well as an ability to utilise the party machine and exploit its members–talents, traits and qualities Trotsky clearly lacked. For these reasons the statement is highly accurate because in spite of his ability, Trotsky's failure to rise to the 'highest office in the land' was a consequence of his arrogance, political naivety and inability to turn success into political capital. This statement is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the many roles that Trotsky undertook in his political career, notably Commissar for War prove that Trotsky was most definitely 'the most able of men'. According to Service, Trotsky as Commissar for War 'surprised everyone with his organisational capacity and ruthlessness as he transformed the Red Army into a fighting force'. During his role as commissar Trotsky was able to increase the size of the Red army to three million, introduced conscription, maintained obedience and discipline by enforcing the oath of the red warrior and the death penalty for deserters and used ex–Tsarist officers to assist in the organisation of the army. Trotsky's ability to successfully transform the Red Army and the significant role he played in Civil War are largely the reason for theBolshevik victory and further highlight that Trotsky 'was the most able of men'. However, despite his ability Trotsky was not able to rise to the highest office in the Land, as he lack political motivation, the personality traits required and a utilisation of the party apparatus. Trotsky despite his talents and status as a communist leader was disliked by his peers. His arrogance, condescension and perceived intellectual superiority alienated many of members of the politburo. If in an address that bored Trotsky he was known to have openly read a novel instead. Lenin himself raised concerns regarding the assured arrogance of Trotsky in his last testament writing that "he is perhaps the most capable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Rise of Communism in Russia The Rise of Communism in Russia "Unless we accept the claim that LeninГ•s coup dՎtat gave birth to an entirely new state, and indeed to a new era in the history of mankind, we must recognize in todayГ•s Soviet Union the old empire of the Russians –– the only empire that survived into the mid 1980's" (Luttwak, 1). In their Communist Manifesto of 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels applied the term communism to a final stage of socialism in which all class differences would disappear and humankind would live in harmony. When the troops were called in to disperse the crowds, they refused to fire their weapons and joined in the rioting. The army generals reported that it would be pointless to send in any more troops, because they would only join in with the other rioters. The frustrated tsar responded by stepping down from power, ending the 300–year– old Romanov dynasty (Farah, 580). With the tsar out of power, a new provisional government took over made up of middle–class Duma representatives. Also rising to power was a rival government called the Petrograd Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies consisting of workers and peasants of socialist and revolutionary groups. Other soviets formed in towns and villages all across the country. All of the soviets worked to push a three–point program which called for an immediate peas, the transfer of land to peasants, and control of factories to workers. But the provisional government stood in conflict with the other smaller governments and the hardships of war hit the country. The provisional government was so busy fighting the war that they neglected the social problems it faced, losing much needed support (Farah, 580). The Bolsheviks in Russia were confused and divided about how to regard the Provisional Government, but most of them, including Stalin, were inclined to accept it for the time being on condition that it work for an ... At the beginning of 1856, Russia was an autocratic country ruled by the Tsar, but when this ruling family was challenged they took preventative means to try to preserve their autocratic powers. Alexander II made political, social and economic reforms to try to appease the people to stay in power; one of the policies being the creation of the Zemstva. Nicholas II also created the Duma to preserve his power and keep autocracy; however the lack of real provision for the desires of the people and the rigidness of autocracy like the reinstatement of the fundamental laws 1906 led to its demise. • 10. How Did Lenin's Use Of Power Despite having other methods of control such as: Lenin's power and the soviet constitution, the Bolshevik leadership's main method of control was terror. Although this was the main method of control the Bolshevik leadership only had a certain degree of control over the party that was not great between 1917, when the party seized power to 1924, when the soviet constitution was established. Bolshevik use of terror enabelled the leadership to reinforce their hold over the party. This was due to Cheka; Lenin's secret police who were formed in 1917. Their role was to deal with counter–revolution, sabotage and speculation. This was important to avoid opposition in the party; increasing the strength of leadership. To create a wider use of terror in 1922 Cheka was replaced with the OGPU, which made arrests and tourtiГЁre more bureaucratic and discreet. These emotions came to a head when a coalition of multiple Russian political parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir Lenin. This humiliation brought much disillusionment of Lenin's direction of Russia, and while Bolsheviks achieved an end to their part in World War I to consolidate Russia, they were nevertheless painted as "anti–Russian", for giving up so dishonorably. • 12. The Red Guard Movement Essay The cultural revolution is a strange period in Chinese history laced with intense struggle and anguish. The cultural revolution mobilized the all of society to compete for all opposing factions that they belonged to (Ong, 2016). Mao mobilized the young people of society during a background of political turmoil, which helped Mao to mobilize the students in order to enforce his political legitimacy and ideas (Ong, 2016). Mao's charismatic authority created his personality cult and most defiantly leant a helping hand in mobilizing the red guard movement (Ong, 2016) (Weber, 1946) (Andreas, 2007). No matter which faction of the red guard they belonged to, they all mobilized against their common enemy; the better off, upper class. (Ong, 2016). Multiple ideologies within the youth led red guard movement explain why the movement gained momentum and became incredibly powerful (Walder, 2009). The red guard movement can be primarily explained two different theories. The first theory is the lack of political cohesion and party factionalism among the elites starting during the Great Leap Forward, which boiled into 100 Flowers Campaign and then subsequently the Cultural Revolution (Meisner, 1999). It is the battle between these elite factions and the prohibition of dissent which resulted in the creation of the Red Guards, which in effect served as agent for the Maoist faction (Yang, 2000). The second theory would be the breakdown of societal institutions, such as education, leading up to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mao was forced to turn government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished severely and thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution to regain his popularity. The main positive effects are that the czarist rule comes to an end and gives workers and peasants the right to interfere in the Russian society. Moreover, after the revolution, Lenin created free education throughout Russia. Another positive effect was that Lenin made the eight–hour working day, which greatly improved working conditions. On the other hand, there are some negative effects resulting from the Russian revolution for sure such as the spread of communism around the world that was the reason for World War II. Another negative effect was that 15 million people die after the Bolsheviks and anti –Bolsheviks sweep Russia. After the revolution, people's freedom was lost and people couldn't read, write, or say whatever they want. People were also not allowed to celebrate religion as religious leaders were murdered and churches were destroyed.

After Shirkuh's death, Saladin took control and began conquests of the Holy Land as well as Jerusalem that sparked just after the death of Nur al–Din's in 1174. Saladin had no problem rising to power, especially coming from a military family and a Muslim society. "One of their most famous victories was in 1177 during the Battle of Montgisard, where some 500 Templar knights helped several thousand infantry to defeat Saladin's army of more than 26,000 soldiers" (McDonald "Templars At War 2"). The Templars' existence was tied closely to the Crusades, particularly when the Holy Land was lost, support for the Templar Order started to fade. In the mid–12th century, the rise began to turn in the Crusades. The Muslim world had become more united under effective leaders such as Saladin. This was the upbringing of Christian factions and the concerning of the Holy Land. "The Knights Templar were occasionally at odds with the two other Christian military orders, the Knights Hospitaller and the Teutonic Knights, and decades of internecine feuds weakened Christian positions, both politically and militarily" (McDonald 4). After the Templars were involved in several unsuccessful campaigns, including the crucial Battle of the Horns of Hattin, Jerusalem was reclaimed by Saladin in 1187. With the Order's military mission now less important, support for the brotherhood began to vanish. • 31. Russian Revolution And The Soviet Revolution For over three hundred years, Russia had been controlled by an autocratic government known as the tsarist regime. This empire was ruled by a series of tsars who had absolute dictatorship over the country. (BBC, 2014). From around the time of Peter the Great 's reign, the empire began to impose its will on the people with absolute disregard for their lives and liberty. This incorporation of force caused repression and unrest amongst the people and the Russian Revolution was essentially an outburst from this. (Columbia Encyclopedia, n.d). The Russian Revolution consisted of two separate strikes in 1917, the first of which overthrew the imperial government and the second strike which placed the Bolshevik party in power. The Russian Revolution evidently brought a drastic transformation to the government, society and economy of Russia. The communist party who took power over Russia did evidently improve the economy and reshape the military forces which proved vital for Russia in WW2. (Quizlet, 2015). Overall, the Russian Revolution was beneficial to the country 's development. Today, in modern history we creditVladimir Lenin for the Revolution 's succession. However, many people forget to acknowledge the role played by Leon Trotsky who stood by Lenin 's side throughout the Revolution. • 32. German Left Wing Terrorists Prior to Germany's Autumn of Terror in 1977, concrete events lead the country down a path where a necessary political student movement transpired and very quickly turned the student group into a terrorist organization. Specifically, the attacks in May of 1972 launched the Red Army Factions crusade against the government and the public. Just like the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, by Bosnian Serb nationalists sparked World War I, the killing of a teenager, Benno Ohnesorg, by German police sparked a radical student movement that would change Germany once again. The death of Benno Ohnesorg was also a reminder of government–sanctioned murders during World War II under Hitler, which was once again present in post war Germany. Moreover, individualism from youths inspired the idea of needing an opposition party so Germany does not keep bonds with old practices. The youths felt that conservatives needed to be pushed a side in order for the country to move forward. Deriving from the student protest movement in West Germany, theRed Army Faction's attacks and juvenile reactions, during their first and second generational existence, ultimately led Germany to a third reign of terror giving even less credibility to the left–wing radical group and their political ideology; further leading to the leaders suicidal, arguably homicidal, deaths. Although the RAF only had fifty official members, who were all privileged and well educated youths, hundreds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Reds Invade Afghanistan The Reds Invade Afghanistan In late December of 1979, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) troops began streaming into Afghanistan by the thousands, marking the beginning of what would turn out to be a 10–year attempt to support the Afghan Communist party that had taken power (Britannica, Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, 2015). This paper demonstrates failures by the intelligence assets of the United States of America(U.S.) regarding the U.S.S.R.'s invasion of Afghanistan. The U.S. did not have a good understanding of the U.S.S.R.'s early involvement in Afghanistan; additionally, they failed to understand that by giving training and aid to the Afghani insurgency, they were forcing the U.S.S.R. to commit to military occupation, and... The U.S.S.R had increased the number of military and civilian advisors dramatically since the coup; the civilian advisors had taken managerial positions in the Afghan ministries (CIA, 1979, p. 8). These facts point to the possibility that the U.S.S.R.'s dedication to controlling Afghanistan was steadfast and the military invasion would happen no matter if the U.S. supported the insurgents or not. On 19 December 1979 intelligence revealed the U.S.S.R. began moving massive amounts of men, supplies, and equipment (MacEachin, 2007). They were also conducting operations to secure routes into Afghanistan with troops that were already in the area (MacEachin, 2007). Bolsheviks were members of a section of the Russian Social–Democratic Worker's party. The section was led by Vladimir Lenin, who helped the group seize control of Russia, beginning the Soviet Union. Bolsheviks were founded when supporters of Lenin fought for restriction of membership to professional revolutionaries, and won. They maintained a highly consolidated, well–ordered, and professional party. The group became gradually popular among workers and solders after Lenin demanded peace and insisted that the soviets, worker's councils, should be in power. This rise in popularity is what drove the Bolsheviks to take over the Russian government and set a dominant power, the Soviet Union. Czar Nicholas II was the last supreme leader of Russia. He was opposed to any and all social reform and stood rooted in his traditional principles. He was considered an incompetent leader, forcing outdated policies upon the Russian people, especially since he ruled during such a revolutionary time. The speech outlined the failures of the provisional Government. This helped gained the sympathy of the general public of Russia and boosted support for the Bolsheviks. The April thesis laid much of the ideological groundwork of the Bolsheviks when they had gained power. The April Thesis had united key factions in the Provisional Government such as the Workers and Soldiers. Without the April Theses, it is possible that the Russian Revolution would not happen and Russia's power would still be kept under the hands of the Russian Oligarchs. In 1994, the UN General Assembly condemned terrorism, as "criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable..." Nearly a decade later, UN Security Council Resolution 1566 (2004), defined terrorism as "criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury, or taking of hostages with the purpose to provoke a state of terror in the general public."
