The document summarizes feedback received on linking together ancillary media products and a main music video production. Feedback indicated that linking the different media helps create a brand identity and makes the products feel more cohesive. Respondents noted specific links between locations, costumes, fonts and a car that were featured across the different media pieces. The feedback confirmed that the links between the ancillary and main products were well done and helped reinforce the band's identity. Suggestions were also made to lengthen the logo display in the video and include the car more prominently to further strengthen the connections between the pieces.
Summary of feedback on ancillary and main production
1. Summary of feedback on ancillary and main production
My first question asked if it’s important to have
links between media that relate to each other.
The response came back and 100% of my
feedback group said they think it’s important.
Therefore it was vital that I did add these links
in because it made a much better product.
When I then asked why they thought this, they
replied all fairly similar results. They said that it
helps create a brand identity and is so we can
easily recognise the band. This proves that my
products are conventional because existing
bands create a brand identity for their fans.
My third question was what the
audience could identify in my products
that I had linked. They picked up on the
locations where the pictures were taken
in the ancillary task were the same
places we visited in our music video, the
costume the actors had on was the same
and finally the fonts I used were the
same. These gave me an idea of what
stood out to the audience the most. Now
I know these next time I create a music
video I will put more emphasis on the other links.
2. Next I asked if I had done this well. Every person
from my feedback group said yes I had done that
well. This once again shows that my product is
much more dynamic because it includes
conventions that typical existing bands use in their
own advertising.
I asked in my forth question if there are any
more ways I could of linked my products
together. Somebody said have the logo appear
for longer in the music video. This was a good
idea I thought because it helps reinforce the
bands logo and therefore the brand identity.
Another response that was good was the person
who said that I should include the car in the
ancillary products. If I was to do my ancillary
products again then I would defiantly include the
car because that’s a key aspect in the video and
also helps to create a brand identity for the band.
My final question was if they saw just the
bands logo would that make them think of
the music video and my ancillary tasks that
I had created. Again this came back at
100% saying yes. I could have added the
bands logo at the end of the video and had
the logo up at the start of the video for
longer to reinforce the brand identity, but I
still got a strong connection between my
products showing they are conventional
and are typical of an existing band.
