A Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Palm
The 2008 print advertisement for the Centro Palm successfully advertises their product while also
giving us a back story. There is a split screen that shows us what "chaos" and "order" looks like.
Chaos is your life without the Centro Palm and order is your life when you have a Centro Palm
(Palm Centro's new ad...Web). They aren't just selling a product, they are also understanding that
America is a busy nation, and using that to draw people in. People are constantly on the move with a
never–ending list of tasks to get done. It is hard to rank the important events and tasks to get done
and this company realizes this. They use this realization to make their product more appealing. We

Sociology refers to the study of human society. Humans today are busier than ever. The sociological
attitude is that we, as a whole are too busy to become organized, we are always rushing around and
going a step farther hardly home as well. It conveys that if we can't make the time to simply write
what we need to do down a piece of a paper we need a device to quickly let us have access to
everything we need to do. The designers of this advertisement realizes that and uses it to appeal to
all those that are indeed "extremely" busy. Society is increasingly being made aware of technology
that will do a variety of things for us. The cultural attitude show us that it is cultural. People within
the same cultures have similarities. This new technology will appeal a great deal to people within
the culture of business. The ones that have meetings and everything in between. It appeals to moms
and dads, they are going to the store, soccer practices, school functions and many other events that
they can't keep up with. This device will allow them to not have all the chaos and low them to have

Writing II n the screen and Koons Inside all adults are their 10 year old self's, contained but there.
For Jeff Koons, his profession has thus far been based on his love for the pure joy of childhood.
Coming from a loving family, art and design was been present in his life from the start. His parents
careers effected how he views the world and what he has done with the opportunities they gave to
him. After attending Maryland Institute of College of Art and School of the Art Institute in Chicago,
Jeff Koons career rapidly picked up while working at the MoMA after graduation. His work ranges

Bobby Eberle Research Paper
Bobby Eberle seems to bristle when you use the term gentleman driver. It isn't so much that he is not
a gentleman, and he is definitely a driver. "That term goes right up my spine, because that is not
what I consider myself," Bobby says. He just wants to be a race car driver. This year, the 48 year old
driver has four top 10 finishes in 6 starts for JDC Motorsports in the Pro Mazda Championship. An
engineer and a former nationally–ranked tennis player, his competitiveness combined well with
some natural talent for driving and has led to success in the world of open wheel racing. Bobby
decided to go racing after he got a gift of a 3–day class at the Skip Barber racing school. He says he
was always interested in cars, but really caught the bug after the classes. Now several years into his
racing career, Bobby is climbing the ladder of the Mazda Road to Indy. But the road is not without
challenges. Eberle finds himself driving against 17 year–old racers who have spent the better part of

Not Without Laughter Analysis
Adulthood has consistently been shaped owing to the experiences and know–how learned in
childhood, specifically from the central people and events during this time period. Hughes's semi–
autobiographical novel, Not Without Laughter, tells of the journey into adulthood of Sandy, who is
constantly exposed to oppression and racism through his own experiences and those of his many
family members. It follows his attempts to better himself for the sake of his family and the
community. Sandy's development throughout the novel is shaped by the lessons he learns with the
help of views of the past from Hager and her religious beliefs, content for the present from
neighborhoods such as "De Botoms" that show no aspiration , and hope of the future from Tempy's

When Harriett says that she hates white people for mistreating and abusing her, Hager just tells her
not to hate them and let love and prayer make them better. She tells Harriet, "'Honey, don't talk that
way,' Broke in Hager. 'It ain't Christian, chile. If you don't like 'em, pray for 'em, but don't feel evil
against them. I was in slavery, Harrie, an' I been knowin' white folks all ma life, an' they's good as
far as they can see– but when it comes to po' niggers, they just can't see that far, that's all'" (Hughes

change for the oppression he faces. Although this is a good sentiment, it only gives Sandy a view of
somewhat outdated ideals. Hager's coping strategy is more of a pacifist way of going about things,
which is fine for the time and experiences that she has faced, but Sandy takes this in as a past
strategy which he does embody in some ways, although he also recognizes that this is not the only
way and that he should not be satisfied with only this. He also sees this sort of contentment in the

One O Clock Jump Poem Essay
While "One O'Clock Jump" has more similarities to swing it is still an example of modernism. In
Coleman Hawkins "One O'Clock Jump" one can notice the more similarities with swing, compared
to "Body and Soul," however, one can still hear a more detailed portrayal. The song has more flow
and more beats than swing usually has. Thus, use of more beats is part of the new technique that
Coleman Hawkins used. The use of the new techniques shows how one can see modernism in "One
O'Clock Jump." However, due to the similarities to swing one would not necessary have to see this
song of Hawkins as part of bebop or modernism.
Another song of Hawkins that not necessary has to be seen as modernism is "Every Man For
Himself." In "Every Man For Himself" there is again a faster pace. While one could still call it
swing one could say how the faster pacing made it part of modernism. Yet one can again argue how
the similarities to swing, still made it swing and a new term as bebop would not have been
necessary. Would "Body and Soul" not have been as different from swing as it was both "One
O'Clock Jump" and "Every Man For Himself" would not necessary be part of bebop. So, both these
songs are part of modernism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Hawkins went to Europe he did not experience the rapid urbanization that was happening in the
United States. Although, he did keep several records of American artists, so he could still listen to
the changes that were happening. As well as the techniques he learned in Europe, would eventually
lead to the new techniques that he used in the United States. Thus, while he did not experience the
changes in the thirties he did keep up to date to these changes, and was part of the changes that were
made in the late thirties and early forties. That he was part of the changes shows how he is still an
example of modernism. Even though he did not experience the rapid urbanization, he was the one

Case Study : A Customer Centric Company Essay
A Customer–Centric Company Amazon.com Incorporated is company whose retail business is done
exclusively online, formally known as electronic commerce or e–commerce. It was the book
category that first caught the attention of founder Jeff Bezos, who realized that a Web store could
offer more book inventory than an actual shop could offer (Cuneo, 2000). The idea was born and
Amazon, a customer–centric company was created. Customer–centric is an approach that allows
businesses to drive profits and gain competitive advantage by providing a positive customer
experience not only at the point of sale, but also, after the sale (What is customer–centric, n.d.). This
American company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington and was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1995
(amazon.com). Jeff Bezos is a visionary who saw the opportunity to use technology as a platform
for retail purchasing, originally books, but soon expanding into nearly any item imaginable that
could be shipped (Cuneo, 2000). Mr. Bezos named his company after the world's longest river, and
today, it is easy to see that Amazon's success and market niche, appears to be flowing abundantly,
and streaming excellent customer service. While Amazon operates in North America, e–commerce

Old Yeller Analysis
Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the
Coates family, especially the 14–year–old son, Travis, and a stray dog named Old Yeller. The dog is
named both for his dingy yellow coat ("yeller" as pronounced in the southern accent that permeates
the narrative) and his bark, which sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller
comes into the Coates family's life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to
Kansas. Before he leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he returns home,
a designation which motivates Travis to take responsibility and make sacrifices for the good of his
family. If Travis can prove himself worthy of the designation of being a man, his father promises to
give him a man's horse.
Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis' relationship with Yeller that
is the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds him to be a nuisance but actively
despises him. The first time the dog is seen by Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the
family. Yeller has devoured a piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. Yeller
continues to cause trouble, with only younger brother Arliss' devotion to him keeping Travis from
pushing him away from the household.
Travis changes his stance only after Yeller displays his singular heroism and instinct. Arliss, for

that inclusion in extracurricular exercises that transcend social factions would make the likelihood

And while it's easy to make quick hires so that you can lighten your own load, doing so can be lethal
to the organization. Bezos was brutal in his hiring discipline. But he had to be if he wanted to firmly
establish the right culture. There are a number of things that define your culture, but the people you
hire are the most influential in creating culture. They bring to the table their beliefs, values, and
behaviors which shape culture from the very beginning. Bezos said, "Cultures are these fantastic
things. Cultures are not so much planned as they evolve from that early set of people. Once a
corporate culture is formed, it tends to be extremely stable. It stays around. It ends up building on
itself" (p. 49). To create or protect a healthy organizational culture, you'll need an effective hiring
process. Furthermore, you need to know what types of questions to ask. I don't believe you have to
hire people exactly like you in terms of skills. In fact, doing so may keep the organization from
gaining traction. But you must recruit people with the same DNA. Skills determine if a job gets
done. But DNA determines if the organization stays true to its vision. Question: What have you
found to be a practical way to shape the culture of your organization?

Amazon Core Values And Strategy
"Comparing these two approaches suggest a conflict between two fundamental stakeholders
businesses need to deliver to: customers and shareholders. If incorporated appropriately, pleasing
and keeping customers will increase profits, which will feed shareholder returns. However, it does
suggest a shift in emphasis away from directly trying to deliver to shareholders. Having a chief
focus on shareholder value can lead to short–term thinking and an Inside Out approach to business.
The key is understanding that the customer is the source of value, and the market will reward a
better value proposition. This is a realignment of values that places shareholder value as an outcome
of customer value: customer value should be the primary focus" (Brandmatters.com.au, 2010)

Paradigms in The Big Lebowski Essay
Paradigms in The Big Lebowski The Big Lebowski
According to Robert B. Ray's "The Thematic Paradigm," classical Hollywood develops "character(s
that) magically embody diametrically opposite traits (299)." This method is used to appeal to "a
collective American imagination steeped in myths of inclusiveness (299)." In other words,
characters that portray a wide variety of traits, in many cases opposite traits, appeal to the American
audience by embodying a portion of each viewer in the character. This method is clearly portrayed
through the characters in the movie, "The Big Lebowski."

Dude's carpet, The Dude arranges a meeting with the Big Lebowski. However, rather than going

the Big Lebowski's kidnapped wife. However, Walter thinks The Dude should keep the money. In a

the meantime the Dude's car is stolen with the one million dollars in the back seat. To top matters
off, there's some question about whether Bunny is really in any danger.
In this movie, "The Dude," embodies contradicting characteristics. At one point, he is lazy, mellow,
carefree, while at critical moments he is conscientious and assertive. Throughout the movie glimpses
of these traits are shown. The first scene for instance, introduces us to the Dude, the bum. He is in a

is checking out he writes a check for a total of .87 cents. This epitomizes the deadbeat. We

The Musical Lil Abner : Underrated Musical Satire
Lil Abner; Underrated Musical Satire

MT History/David Loud
"The public is like a piano. You just have to know what keys to poke." Al Capp
As a young girl in Oklahoma, there was always a high school or community theatre somewhere that
was getting ready to perform the musical Lil Abner. I can close my eyes and see posters at the
library, or flyers being sent home in my third grade Wednesday folder, I can even recall my
babysitter talking about the lead she got in the show. All of those recollections seem so unique to my
time in Oklahoma because once my family relocated to Houston, Lil Abner became more of an odd
memory. For whatever reason that musical didn't share the same popularity as it did in Texas. As
time went on the title slipped further into the depths of my mind. Truth is, until a couple months ago,
I couldn't tell you what the musical Lil Abner was even about. So, when the assignment to write
about a musical made before 1958, that we haven't covered in class came along I asked myself to
think about shows that I know of but don't actually know...and suddenly all those early memories of
posters and high school productions in Oklahoma City of Lil Abner came flooding back to the
forefront of my mind. What I did not realize was how relevant my choice would be to the times we
live in now.
Based on Al Capp's comic strip "Lil Abner" and his creation of the community of Dogpatch – Lil

Case: Amazon.com: The Brink of Bankruptcy
Questions:
1. How did the Amazon.com business model evolve from the company's launch in 1995 to early

In 1994, Jeff Bezos incorporates his company under "Cadabra.com". Then in 1995, Amazon went
online and made its initial mark by selling books, and many people recall the brand by still think of
the company in terms of books. Though that nots true for the most part of the journey of amazon.
Amazon almost from the start, has worked to expand into additional areas–striving to become a

Its diversification and low cast strategy will help it build up an image and goodwill which will pay
its fruits in near future. The strategy to partner with traditional retail partners in which amazon.com
will utilize its retailing technology to build and host the traditional retailer's online store will also be
helpful as it enables Amazon to enable various brick stores to go virtual. IT innovations done in
order to provide services like customer service, inventory management, fulfillment and logistics
service in its already established state of the art digital infrastructure will also help them in creating
a difficult entry barrier for competitors. Use of long–term debt to cover its cash expenses
requirement though causes financial stress in short term, in long term economies of scale achieved
will generate more benefits than expenses incurred. I would suggest Bezos to maintain its market
leadership position both in terms of technological innovation as well as customer

gained from The Cockroaches, The Wiggles' first manager Jeremy Fabinyi negotiated with the ABC

This therefore has a positive effect on the young individual in the present as well as the future, as
well as The Wiggles being viewed in a positive manner by consumers and members of society
because of this influence on children.
The Wiggles are so successful because of their positive influence on children's lives and the
satisfaction that adults receive from being aware of the educational value behind the program. This
can be obviously demonstrated through the long–running creative programs aired on television with
such popularity that The Wiggles have become known around the world. This has made them an
international franchise and allowed the company to expand into other associated products and
programs such as live performance shows and recorded albums.
The products of this popular culture are aimed at a specific target market. Primary consumers of The
Wiggles are young children but the major purchasers of associated products and paraphernalia are
the children's parents and adults.
There is no divide in the consumption of this popular culture's associated products in relation to
gender, although the group previously consisted of four males, as well as many of the associated
characters being male. This recently changed in 2012 when a female Wiggle was introduced,
creating a more female–friendly show, which may appeal to young girls more so than before,
therefore giving The Wiggles the opportunity to expand their market

Swot Analysis Of Amazon
Amazon, founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos in Seattle, Washington. Jeff's launch of an online bookstore

Amazon's early employees did not have the opportunity of work–life balance, as with many start up,
they were expected to work at least 60 hours a week. And the organizations first major Christmas,
1998, season wasn't too much better. After going through two Christmas, the organization was not
prepared for the dramatic shift, the Christmas of 1998 brought. To compensate for being under–
staffed, employees brought in family and friends to help out. This is why, to this day that Amazon
hire so a large number of seasonal employees every year. But is also allow Bezos to realize how
important his customer base is, thereby, Bezos established Amazon to be completely customer–
centric or customer–obsessed organization. Unlike other companies that are focused on its
competitors; Bezos believe, to not listen to your customer, is setting yourself to fail. And always
looking past the right now and into tomorrow and how to make build it better. It's because "Amazon
owns the richest data set on how consumers consume, how sellers sell, and (among the richest) in
how developers develop" (Research report); thereby Amazon is able to hone in to developer
environment, enhances the shopping experience, and enhance its logistic network.

known as the swing era. Jazz became the cornerstone of popular culture during the period known as
the swing era. The swing era influenced clothing styles, retail marketing, fashion, dance, and even
language. Swing fans had their own clothing style and built a social phenomenon around it. With
many dances coming and going the swing fans kept on dancing.

10. Describe how the styles of Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins were different.
The styles from Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins were very different throughout the swing era.
Hawkins and Young were two of the best tenor sax players that had emerged during the swing era.
Considerably different, Hawkins played a huge dark sound, whereas Young's was light and breathy.
Some of the differences were as follows; Hawkins improvisations were based on his superior
knowledge of harmony, Young's were rooted in the blues, Hawkins played with a rhythmic approach
that was always closely tied to the beat, and Young's rhythmic conception was much looser, and
often untied to the beat. Although they had many differences, they inspired sax players for years to
come.

The American Dream Analysis
Even though Dexter has had a privileged life, his point of view in the story represents the common
man working towards an 'American Dream.' His view of the world is often rose colored and does
not see the world for what it truly is until his dream is ripped from his hands. This effects the text
because at first the reader lives in his shoes as Dexter blissfully allows himself to be seduced by his
'American Dream,' Judy Jones. Fitzgerald writes, "'I don't know what's the matter with me. Last
night I thought I was in love with a man and to–night I think I'm in love with you––––'––it seemed
to him a beautiful and romantic thing to say. It was the exquisite excitability that for the moment he
controlled and owned. But a week later he was compelled to view this same quality in a different
light. She took him in her roadster to a picnic supper, and after supper she disappeared, likewise in
her roadster, with another man," (5). In the moment, he allows himself to believe that she is in love
with him. After all, if a beautiful girl who has a history of tempting men tells him she loves him, it
must be true. As the text is told from Dexter's point of view, the reader sees his foggy motivation
and drive to keep chasing after Judy. The only thing that matters is whether or not she is with him,
despite words she says may seem rude or unfaithful to anyone outside of his point of view. Even
though Fitzgerald does not write the story in first person, he makes a great point of letting the

Negative Speech : Donald Trump
Donald Trump was assumed to be the guy who would fix everything in Washington, but after two
months in office he's proving to be a terrible leader. Trump was never very popular, but he got
ranked for his leadership, but that's slowly fading now. In November just after the election, 56% of
Americans thought he was a good leader – now it's fallen to just 40%. After two months, here's what
is know: He's not going to fix everything, he's not going to drain the swamp, he's not going to make
America great again, he's not going to bring all Americans together, he's not going to replace
Obamacare with something "splendid." He's not going to bring back the manufacturing jobs or the
American dream, he won't make America respected around the world, and most importantly he
won't make us safer. Why not? Because Trump isn't the strong leader he claims to be, even if he
wanted to accomplish all the things he promised, he would fail because he doesn't understand how
to be a true leader.
Trump is a failure at leadership because he ignored Ronald Reagan's most important lesson about
leadership: "There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don't care who gets the
credit." Donald Trump has affected the United States of America by his negligent behavior in many
ways. Trump has armed, emboldened and has continuously failed to condemn human rights abusers.
Most importantly, he has shown disrespectful behavior towards different races.

Analysis Of Amazon 's ' Amazon ' Essay
Amazon has outperformed every other online retailer for the past few years. There is a simple
explanation for their success. Their main strength and why consumers choose Amazon is because
they provide an excellent customer experience. They call it "Customer Obsession". If a product on
Amazon is sold by or fulfilled by Amazon, the returning process is extremely simple. In my own
experience with returning products to Amazon, no matter the case, they will pay the shipping and
give the customer a full refund or a replacement for the product. This provides customers with a
worry–free experience. There is absolutely no hassle if a product is defective or if the customer
simply finds it unsatisfactory.
Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO also makes it clear that technology is important to the focusing of the
customer. In Amazon's 2010 Annual Report, Bezos said, "Look inside a current textbook on
software architecture, and you'll find few patterns that we don't apply at Amazon. We use high–
performance transactions systems, complex rendering and object caching, workflow and queuing
systems, business intelligence and data analytics, machine learning and pattern recognition, neural
networks and probabilistic decision making, and a wide variety of other techniques. And while many
of our systems are based on the latest in computer science research, this often hasn't been sufficient:
our architects and engineers have had to advance research in directions that no academic had yet

Rhetorical Analysis Of 'Trump Embarrasses Himself And Our...
In the New York Times Opinion Editorial Piece, "Trump Embarrasses Himself and Our Country,"
Nicholas Kristof argues how Donald Trump's picks for his administration are embarrassing, and do
not represent the United States. Stage one of the informed citizen determines the need for critical
self–protection when looking at rhetoric. One should ask two important questions about rhetoric
before analysis, "Is a major claim on beliefs/attitudes/values or actions being made?" and, "Is the
person relying merely relaying information or is he/she strategically presenting the material?" (p.
273 analyzing rhetoric). Applying this to the article by Kristof, I believe he is making a major claim
on values and actions, and that he strategically wrote the article to persuade/inform the American
people that read the New York Times. It is important to critically analyze claims for potential
deception and misleading statements because of many reasons. First, rhetoric can either inspire a
nation, or it can destroy a nation. If rhetoric is manipulative and deceptive, citizens can fall into the
trap, and begin to believe hateful and untrue things that affect people's views. It is important that
citizens can recognize when leaders are deceiving us, so they can call it out and try to not let others
fall into as well. If one does not check for deception when looking at a piece of rhetoric, they could
vote for things that clearly are not within their self–interest. A rhetor can strategically relay the

Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum State Historic Site (April 13th) I had been wanting to visit the

historic site more than I thought I would. The first plaque I read was on that described the origins of
the Palmer Memorial Institute. The school was previously named Bethany Institute and was founded
by American Missionary Association in 1870. Not too long after, in 1902, the AMA was forced to
withdraw its limited financial support. Because of this, Charlotte Hawkins Brown courageously

Sadly, this plaque was not in front of a building because the gym was torn down from deteriorated
condition in 1987. This surprised me because I figured physical education would have been
incorporated into the curriculum way before this school was built. Next, I visited the school's dining
hall, Kimball Hall, which was built in 1927. Here, Palmer students practiced proper etiquette.
Anyone who displayed improper etiquette was possibly removed from the dining hall. I found this
interesting because students do not usually learn proper dining etiquette in school systems today. In
addition to this, students at Palmer stood before every meal and sang grace. These students seem to
have been especially disciplined, unlike many school kids today. Next, I walked to Charles W. Elliot
Hall. According to the corresponding plaque, this building was created to be the main dormitory for
the male students. This dormitory was on the opposite side of the campus from the Galen Stone
Hall, the main dormitory for the female students. The third dormitory on campus was the Carrie M.
Stone Cottage. This building housed all unmarried female teachers at the school. All three of these
cottages were fairly small. Therefore, I am assuming

Strategic Management in the New Economy: Amazon
"External & Internal Analysis of Amazon during 1997"
Strategic Management in the New Economy

What are the opportunities and threats that Amazon.com faced in 1997?
In all the proceeding cases, we analyzed the various levels of the external environment, moving
through the remote, to the industry and finally to the operating environment. Through doing this we
saw where Amazon's potential opportunities and threats lay. We also applied Porter's Five Forces to
asses the threats in the industry environment.
Opportunity:
The size, speed and growth rate of the Internet. The technology aspects of the remote external
environment played a large role in opportunities for Amazon.com at the time of the case study.

Large portion of the company is handled by other firms. Since Amazon.com relies heavily on
shipping companies to deliver their product to the consumer, the shipping companies gain a large
bargaining position. From an Industry environment perspective, the shipping channels are given far
too much control over this critical portion of Amazon's business and are therefore placed in a
powerful bargaining position.
What are the firm's strengths and weaknesses in 1997 (date of the case)?
Once again, we used various methods of analysis to figure out what Amazon's internal strengths and
weaknesses were. We started with a resource based view, looking at the tangible and intangible
assets of Amazon and its organizational capabilities. Next we looked at functional view of Amazon,
taking note of its research and development, marketing and operation factors and management
organization. Finally, we took a value based approach to see how Amazon was benefiting the
consumer with their cost reducing practices.
Strengths:
Pricing Strategy. In using the value chain resource analysis one can see that the pricing structure
could lower the overhead costs because there is no need for a large

The Pros And Cons Of The Internet
World Wide Web– a phrase that has revolutionized our period of time; without the internet there
would be no place where we would get to watch videos, look at images of cats, and most
importantly cry on the stylish clothes that one may never get. Many individuals tend to stay at home
on this phenomenon for more than eight hours straight, visiting numerous of sites. However,
imagine those services being on one platform which means everything one enjoys doing on multiple
websites: watching movies/videos, viewing images, or buying clothes. Amazon, a multimillionaire
private company, happens to solidify this imagination. The corporation believes the internet is
evolving towards a greater good of every individual doing everything online; mainly shopping. They
believe technology has made it easier for many people to access an online store through the World
Wide Web. However, Amazon has become an empire in such a short amount of time and will not

publicly referred to the Amazon.com mission statement as the guiding force behind his leadership

Homestuck Research Paper
Andrew Hussie: Taking Comics to a Different Level As someone who loves bright, colorful visuals
and dramatic design, graphic novels and comic books are some of my favorite things to read. Web–
comics are one of the more accessible types of comics, since they are generally free and can be read
entirely online, and they usually take the same form paper comics have taken for years: images
arranged in a grid on one standard size page. While this layout of comics is perfectly fine and has
been for decades, it doesn't take full advantage of the web format. Coded webpages present a nearly

That process is more than exemplified in his making of his most successful comic, Homestuck. At
over 8000 pages long, with over 800,000 words of narration and dialogue, Homestuck is the longest
web–comic in existence, and according to Hussie was started with little more planning than the
thought "it's a story about kids in houses". Along with this, Homestuck is a story that goes beyond
the traditional comic format, becoming a truly multi–media experience spanning the entire internet
and beyond, influenced by the massive community that became involved with it over its 7–year
span. Besides just still images, Hussie's comic is filled with colorful animations in many of its
panels, along with videos and interactive games accompanied by a wide array of music. In fact, over
26 albums total were produced by Hussie's web–store–turned–record–label for the comic. This is
something that, while other artists had likely attempted it in some way, no other comic had had such
a large success with, and in turn had such a wide influence on the web–comic community. Beyond
just the images on the page, Hussie also manipulates webpages themselves, going as far as to
completely change the color and format of the page to manipulate the narrative mechanic and add to
the story, as shown in the pictures

On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins
In On Intelligence, Jeff Hawkins hypothesizes a system of human intelligence based on memory,
predictions, and pattern matching in what he calls a "memory–prediction framework." Because he
studied and worked in computer science, rather than neuroscience, Hawkins has a unique
perspective and writes in terms that are accessible to someone from a non–neurological background
or standpoint and often analogous to computer architecture, making the subject matter relatable to
the interested layman. However, though he offers a plausible structure of the brain that mostly aligns
with current thinking, he does not take into account important recent research, omitting
neurologically developments that have been accepted by the scientific community. The main
difference that he offers, between traditional approaches to artificial intelligence and his thinking, is
the importance of drawing on memory (and associated learned patterns and processes) versus
computation. He discusses at length a hierarchical system of the brain, but leaves out two very
important components to that system: the thalamus and hypothalamus. He also draws broad
conclusions without discussing specific mechanisms for how they are achieved, so his theory is not
entirely sound, though it could prove to be. Also, possibly because of his background, and not being
immersed in the world of biological science, he is able to critique areas of neuroscience and
artificial intelligence with interesting points about each. The book

An Oedipal Relationship in Beneix's Diva Essay
The relationship between Jules and Cynthia Hawkins in Jean–Jacques Beneix's Diva is uniquely
complex and vaguely oedipal. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely
in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules's obsession with
Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude
towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes.
From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. In fact,
the opening title sequence tricks the viewer into thinking her voice is non–diegetic sound, mere
background music for the on–screen occurrences. However, when Jules turns off his tape deck, the

Alba can instantly detect his infatuation with the diva from the way he longingly stares at the lifelike
portrait of Cynthia, with her stolen dress draped over it almost as if the painting is wearing the
gown. Jules brings the diva's dress to a black prostitute, and has her wear the gown, trying to delude
himself into the illusion that he is with Cynthia Hawkins. Jules displays many of the characteristics
of a young lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be
connected to her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella
over her head while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to
make a first move, Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on
her shoulder, draping his arm around her.
Despite his obvious romantic desires for Cynthia Hawkins, there are also some aspects of a maternal
relationship. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the
sound of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her
rehearse, she allows Jules to stay and listen. "It's strange, but I think I'd like you to be there while
I'm working," she tells him. Despite the way that Jules violates her in almost every way possible,
Cynthia forgives him; her reasons for this stem from the kind of unconditional love that mothers
have for their children. After all,

Critical Analysis Of 'I Am Trying To Break Your Heart'
Kevin Young's "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" examines the dark and chaotic nature of trying to
heal from emotional damage. Addressing a lover, the speaker uses twisted and macabre diction to
describe the dark feelings that brew within him. These sinister desires to harm the lover shine
through in the terse language and erratic structure, as well as. The 2008 poem alludes to a Wilco
song of the same name, wherein the speaker describes his heartache after leaving his lover and
facing regret concerning the situation. This is alluded to in stanzas 12 and 13 when Young writes "...
I assassin / down the avenue," (22–23) the second line of the song. Without taking note of this
allusion, the poem would seem as if Young is portraying himself as a manipulator seeking to gain
power over his lover. But through referencing the 2002 song "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" by
Jeff Tweedy, Young clarifies his intent. The poem is meant to illustrate the chaotic and destructive
nature of healing from emotional damage, showing how a love lost can leave an individual scarred
and vengeful. Young begins the poem by indirectly addressing his lover, saying "I am hoping / to
hang your head." This creates a dark tone from the offset, implying that the speaker wants to harm
the intended recipient of the poem. He then goes on in the second stanza to say he would hang the
lover's head on his wall in shame. This evokes an image of taxidermy, which is meant to objectify
and dehumanize the

2014). During the early days of the company, its focus was on selling books which is very different
from today. Every year the company continued to make more and more sales but did not record a

Key Demands of Industry / Organization – John Amazon, as an organization understands the needs
of their customers on a much deeper level than its competitors as well as focuses on constant
improvements in the market. Currently, their major focuses are e–books, Amazon DynamoDB, a
personalized shopping experience, and expansion into various retail outlets. (Fitzsimmons 2014)
Amazon has proven to be very successful with their bookstore business, replacing the need for retail
large bookstores such as Barns and Noble and Borders and local bookstores. Amazon understands
that customers are demanding an online retailer that understands what their wants and needs are.
Henceforth, Amazon has created databases and technology that creates a very personalized shopping
experience for each and every Amazon shopper. As an organization, Amazon understands that this
market is still being developed as technology increases. Amazon strives to have their solutions all be
backed with advanced technology that puts the customer first and creates strong brand loyalty. In
doing this Amazon not only builds a stronger client base, but can truly understand their customers
on a level that is a wonderful service for their shoppers.

  • 5. Bobby Eberle Research Paper Bobby Eberle seems to bristle when you use the term gentleman driver. It isn't so much that he is not a gentleman, and he is definitely a driver. "That term goes right up my spine, because that is not what I consider myself," Bobby says. He just wants to be a race car driver. This year, the 48 year old driver has four top 10 finishes in 6 starts for JDC Motorsports in the Pro Mazda Championship. An engineer and a former nationally–ranked tennis player, his competitiveness combined well with some natural talent for driving and has led to success in the world of open wheel racing. Bobby decided to go racing after he got a gift of a 3–day class at the Skip Barber racing school. He says he was always interested in cars, but really caught the bug after the classes. Now several years into his racing career, Bobby is climbing the ladder of the Mazda Road to Indy. But the road is not without challenges. His ultimate goal is to drive as fast as he can, but if he can get to the Indy 500 it would be a great accomplishment. "I want to work my way up in steps," Bobby confessed. Not Without Laughter Analysis Adulthood has consistently been shaped owing to the experiences and know–how learned in childhood, specifically from the central people and events during this time period. Hughes's semi– autobiographical novel, Not Without Laughter, tells of the journey into adulthood of Sandy, who is constantly exposed to oppression and racism through his own experiences and those of his many family members. It follows his attempts to better himself for the sake of his family and the community. Sandy's development throughout the novel is shaped by the lessons he learns with the help of views of the past from Hager and her religious beliefs, content for the present from neighborhoods such as "De Botoms" that show no aspiration , and hope of the future from Tempy's ... When Harriett says that she hates white people for mistreating and abusing her, Hager just tells her not to hate them and let love and prayer make them better. She tells Harriet, "'Honey, don't talk that way,' Broke in Hager. 'It ain't Christian, chile. If you don't like 'em, pray for 'em, but don't feel evil against them. I was in slavery, Harrie, an' I been knowin' white folks all ma life, an' they's good as far as they can see– but when it comes to po' niggers, they just can't see that far, that's all'" (Hughes 86). This gives Sandy insight on the idea of praying for the better, which is one way of finding change for the oppression he faces. Although this is a good sentiment, it only gives Sandy a view of somewhat outdated ideals. Hager's coping strategy is more of a pacifist way of going about things, which is fine for the time and experiences that she has faced, but Sandy takes this in as a past strategy which he does embody in some ways, although he also recognizes that this is not the only way and that he should not be satisfied with only this. • 9. One O Clock Jump Poem Essay While "One O'Clock Jump" has more similarities to swing it is still an example of modernism. In Coleman Hawkins "One O'Clock Jump" one can notice the more similarities with swing, compared to "Body and Soul," however, one can still hear a more detailed portrayal. The song has more flow and more beats than swing usually has. Thus, use of more beats is part of the new technique that Coleman Hawkins used. The use of the new techniques shows how one can see modernism in "One O'Clock Jump." However, due to the similarities to swing one would not necessary have to see this song of Hawkins as part of bebop or modernism. Another song of Hawkins that not necessary has to be seen as modernism is "Every Man For Himself." In "Every Man For Himself" there is again a faster pace. While one could still call it swing one could say how the faster pacing made it part of modernism. Yet one can again argue how the similarities to swing, still made it swing and a new term as bebop would not have been necessary. Would "Body and Soul" not have been as different from swing as it was both "One O'Clock Jump" and "Every Man For Himself" would not necessary be part of bebop. So, both these songs are part of modernism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Hawkins went to Europe he did not experience the rapid urbanization that was happening in the United States. Although, he did keep several records of American artists, so he could still listen to the changes that were happening. As well as the techniques he learned in Europe, would eventually lead to the new techniques that he used in the United States. Thus, while he did not experience the changes in the thirties he did keep up to date to these changes, and was part of the changes that were made in the late thirties and early forties. That he was part of the changes shows how he is still an example of modernism. Even though he did not experience the rapid urbanization, he was the one who made the ... Case Study : A Customer Centric Company Essay A Customer–Centric Company Amazon.com Incorporated is company whose retail business is done exclusively online, formally known as electronic commerce or e–commerce. It was the book category that first caught the attention of founder Jeff Bezos, who realized that a Web store could offer more book inventory than an actual shop could offer (Cuneo, 2000). The idea was born and Amazon, a customer–centric company was created. Customer–centric is an approach that allows businesses to drive profits and gain competitive advantage by providing a positive customer experience not only at the point of sale, but also, after the sale (What is customer–centric, n.d.). This American company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington and was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1995 (amazon.com). Jeff Bezos is a visionary who saw the opportunity to use technology as a platform for retail purchasing, originally books, but soon expanding into nearly any item imaginable that could be shipped (Cuneo, 2000). Old Yeller Analysis Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the Coates family, especially the 14–year–old son, Travis, and a stray dog named Old Yeller. The dog is named both for his dingy yellow coat ("yeller" as pronounced in the southern accent that permeates the narrative) and his bark, which sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller comes into the Coates family's life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to Kansas. Before he leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he returns home, a designation which motivates Travis to take responsibility and make sacrifices for the good of his family. If Travis can prove himself worthy of the designation of being a man, his father promises to give him a man's horse. Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis' relationship with Yeller that is the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds him to be a nuisance but actively despises him. The first time the dog is seen by Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the family. Yeller has devoured a piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. Yeller continues to cause trouble, with only younger brother Arliss' devotion to him keeping Travis from pushing him away from the household. Travis changes his stance only after Yeller displays his singular heroism and instinct. Arliss, for whom collecting critters is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They bring to the table their beliefs, values, and behaviors which shape culture from the very beginning. Bezos said, "Cultures are these fantastic things. Cultures are not so much planned as they evolve from that early set of people. Once a corporate culture is formed, it tends to be extremely stable. It stays around. It ends up building on itself" (p. 49). To create or protect a healthy organizational culture, you'll need an effective hiring process. Furthermore, you need to know what types of questions to ask. If incorporated appropriately, pleasing and keeping customers will increase profits, which will feed shareholder returns. This method is clearly portrayed through the characters in the movie, "The Big Lebowski." You just have to know what keys to poke." Al Capp As a young girl in Oklahoma, there was always a high school or community theatre somewhere that was getting ready to perform the musical Lil Abner. I can close my eyes and see posters at the library, or flyers being sent home in my third grade Wednesday folder, I can even recall my babysitter talking about the lead she got in the show. All of those recollections seem so unique to my time in Oklahoma because once my family relocated to Houston, Lil Abner became more of an odd memory. For whatever reason that musical didn't share the same popularity as it did in Texas. As time went on the title slipped further into the depths of my mind. Truth is, until a couple months ago, I couldn't tell you what the musical Lil Abner was even about. So, when the assignment to write about a musical made before 1958, that we haven't covered in class came along I asked myself to think about shows that I know of but don't actually know...and suddenly all those early memories of posters and high school productions in Oklahoma City of Lil Abner came flooding back to the forefront of my mind. Then in 1995, Amazon went online and made its initial mark by selling books, and many people recall the brand by still think of the company in terms of books. Though that nots true for the most part of the journey of amazon. Amazon almost from the start, has worked to expand into additional areas–striving to become a global retailer of almost anything. IT innovations done in order to provide services like customer service, inventory management, fulfillment and logistics service in its already established state of the art digital infrastructure will also help them in creating a difficult entry barrier for competitors. Use of long–term debt to cover its cash expenses requirement though causes financial stress in short term, in long term economies of scale achieved will generate more benefits than expenses incurred. His view of the world is often rose colored and does not see the world for what it truly is until his dream is ripped from his hands. This effects the text because at first the reader lives in his shoes as Dexter blissfully allows himself to be seduced by his 'American Dream,' Judy Jones. Fitzgerald writes, "'I don't know what's the matter with me. Last night I thought I was in love with a man and to–night I think I'm in love with you––––'––it seemed to him a beautiful and romantic thing to say. It was the exquisite excitability that for the moment he controlled and owned. But a week later he was compelled to view this same quality in a different light. She took him in her roadster to a picnic supper, and after supper she disappeared, likewise in her roadster, with another man," (5). In the moment, he allows himself to believe that she is in love with him. After all, if a beautiful girl who has a history of tempting men tells him she loves him, it must be true. As the text is told from Dexter's point of view, the reader sees his foggy motivation and drive to keep chasing after Judy. After two months, here's what is know: He's not going to fix everything, he's not going to drain the swamp, he's not going to make America great again, he's not going to bring all Americans together, he's not going to replace Obamacare with something "splendid." Their main strength and why consumers choose Amazon is because they provide an excellent customer experience. They call it "Customer Obsession". If a product on Amazon is sold by or fulfilled by Amazon, the returning process is extremely simple. In my own experience with returning products to Amazon, no matter the case, they will pay the shipping and give the customer a full refund or a replacement for the product. This provides customers with a worry–free experience. There is absolutely no hassle if a product is defective or if the customer simply finds it unsatisfactory. In the New York Times Opinion Editorial Piece, "Trump Embarrasses Himself and Our Country," Nicholas Kristof argues how Donald Trump's picks for his administration are embarrassing, and do not represent the United States. Stage one of the informed citizen determines the need for critical self–protection when looking at rhetoric. One should ask two important questions about rhetoric before analysis, "Is a major claim on beliefs/attitudes/values or actions being made?" and, "Is the person relying merely relaying information or is he/she strategically presenting the material?" (p. 273 analyzing rhetoric). Applying this to the article by Kristof, I believe he is making a major claim on values and actions, and that he strategically wrote the article to persuade/inform the American people that read the New York Times. It is important to critically analyze claims for potential deception and misleading statements because of many reasons. First, rhetoric can either inspire a nation, or it can destroy a nation. If rhetoric is manipulative and deceptive, citizens can fall into the trap, and begin to believe hateful and untrue things that affect people's views. It is important that citizens can recognize when leaders are deceiving us, so they can call it out and try to not let others fall into as well. If one does not check for deception when looking at a piece of rhetoric, they could vote for things that clearly are not within their self–interest. A rhetor can strategically relay the ... Second, play the long game, Jeff Bezos was telling the truth to his investors that the company was not having a profit for a year, and then he gave a chance to his investors to hand off from this company before it collapsed. He also showed that this was his strategy. This means that on the way to do something it's not always easy so we need to play a long game to succeed in the future, even though it's failed we still happy because we try our best to do what we want. Third, start narrow then diversify. Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum State Historic Site (April 13th) I had been wanting to visit the Palmer Memorial Institute since Professor Porter mentioned it in class because Sedalia is not far from where I live. Today, I finally got the chance to visit. I actually enjoyed walking around this historic site more than I thought I would. The first plaque I read was on that described the origins of the Palmer Memorial Institute. The school was previously named Bethany Institute and was founded by American Missionary Association in 1870. Not too long after, in 1902, the AMA was forced to withdraw its limited financial support. Because of this, Charlotte Hawkins Brown courageously reopened the school in the fall of 1902 and renamed it the Palmer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sadly, this plaque was not in front of a building because the gym was torn down from deteriorated condition in 1987. This surprised me because I figured physical education would have been incorporated into the curriculum way before this school was built. Next, I visited the school's dining hall, Kimball Hall, which was built in 1927. Here, Palmer students practiced proper etiquette. Anyone who displayed improper etiquette was possibly removed from the dining hall. I found this interesting because students do not usually learn proper dining etiquette in school systems today. In addition to this, students at Palmer stood before every meal and sang grace. These students seem to have been especially disciplined, unlike many school kids today. Next, I walked to Charles W. Elliot Hall. According to the corresponding plaque, this building was created to be the main dormitory for the male students. This dormitory was on the opposite side of the campus from the Galen Stone Hall, the main dormitory for the female students. The third dormitory on campus was the Carrie M. Stone Cottage. This building housed all unmarried female teachers at the school. All three of these cottages were fairly small. Therefore, I am assuming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strategic Management in the New Economy: Amazon "External & Internal Analysis of Amazon during 1997" Strategic Management in the New Economy 24/09/02 What are the opportunities and threats that Amazon.com faced in 1997? In all the proceeding cases, we analyzed the various levels of the external environment, moving through the remote, to the industry and finally to the operating environment. Through doing this we saw where Amazon's potential opportunities and threats lay. We also applied Porter's Five Forces to asses the threats in the industry environment. Opportunity: The size, speed and growth rate of the Internet. The technology aspects of the remote external environment played a large role in opportunities for Amazon.com at the time of the case study. Firstly, the projections ... Large portion of the company is handled by other firms. Since Amazon.com relies heavily on shipping companies to deliver their product to the consumer, the shipping companies gain a large bargaining position. From an Industry environment perspective, the shipping channels are given far too much control over this critical portion of Amazon's business and are therefore placed in a powerful bargaining position. What are the firm's strengths and weaknesses in 1997 (date of the case)? Once again, we used various methods of analysis to figure out what Amazon's internal strengths and weaknesses were. We started with a resource based view, looking at the tangible and intangible assets of Amazon and its organizational capabilities. Next we looked at functional view of Amazon, taking note of its research and development, marketing and operation factors and management organization. Finally, we took a value based approach to see how Amazon was benefiting the consumer with their cost reducing practices.

The Pros And Cons Of The Internet World Wide Web– a phrase that has revolutionized our period of time; without the internet there would be no place where we would get to watch videos, look at images of cats, and most importantly cry on the stylish clothes that one may never get. Many individuals tend to stay at home on this phenomenon for more than eight hours straight, visiting numerous of sites. However, imagine those services being on one platform which means everything one enjoys doing on multiple websites: watching movies/videos, viewing images, or buying clothes. Amazon, a multimillionaire private company, happens to solidify this imagination. The corporation believes the internet is evolving towards a greater good of every individual doing everything online; mainly shopping. They believe technology has made it easier for many people to access an online store through the World Wide Web. However, Amazon has become an empire in such a short amount of time and will not stop growing. Due to the contrary, Amazon is obviously becoming too powerful. • 65. Homestuck Research Paper Andrew Hussie: Taking Comics to a Different Level As someone who loves bright, colorful visuals and dramatic design, graphic novels and comic books are some of my favorite things to read. Web– comics are one of the more accessible types of comics, since they are generally free and can be read entirely online, and they usually take the same form paper comics have taken for years: images arranged in a grid on one standard size page. While this layout of comics is perfectly fine and has been for decades, it doesn't take full advantage of the web format. Coded webpages present a nearly endless number of ways to manipulate the images, allowing artists to tell their stories in new and exciting ways, and yet most people stick to the same format that's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That process is more than exemplified in his making of his most successful comic, Homestuck. At over 8000 pages long, with over 800,000 words of narration and dialogue, Homestuck is the longest web–comic in existence, and according to Hussie was started with little more planning than the thought "it's a story about kids in houses". Along with this, Homestuck is a story that goes beyond the traditional comic format, becoming a truly multi–media experience spanning the entire internet and beyond, influenced by the massive community that became involved with it over its 7–year span. Besides just still images, Hussie's comic is filled with colorful animations in many of its panels, along with videos and interactive games accompanied by a wide array of music. In fact, over 26 albums total were produced by Hussie's web–store–turned–record–label for the comic. This is something that, while other artists had likely attempted it in some way, no other comic had had such a large success with, and in turn had such a wide influence on the web–comic community. Beyond just the images on the page, Hussie also manipulates webpages themselves, going as far as to completely change the color and format of the page to manipulate the narrative mechanic and add to the story, as shown in the pictures ... • 67. On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins In On Intelligence, Jeff Hawkins hypothesizes a system of human intelligence based on memory, predictions, and pattern matching in what he calls a "memory–prediction framework." Because he studied and worked in computer science, rather than neuroscience, Hawkins has a unique perspective and writes in terms that are accessible to someone from a non–neurological background or standpoint and often analogous to computer architecture, making the subject matter relatable to the interested layman. However, though he offers a plausible structure of the brain that mostly aligns with current thinking, he does not take into account important recent research, omitting neurologically developments that have been accepted by the scientific community. The main difference that he offers, between traditional approaches to artificial intelligence and his thinking, is the importance of drawing on memory (and associated learned patterns and processes) versus computation. He discusses at length a hierarchical system of the brain, but leaves out two very important components to that system: the thalamus and hypothalamus. He also draws broad conclusions without discussing specific mechanisms for how they are achieved, so his theory is not entirely sound, though it could prove to be. Also, possibly because of his background, and not being immersed in the world of biological science, he is able to critique areas of neuroscience and artificial intelligence with interesting points about each. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules's obsession with Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes. From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. Jules displays many of the characteristics of a young lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be connected to her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella over her head while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to make a first move, Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on her shoulder, draping his arm around her. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the sound of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her rehearse, she allows Jules to stay and listen. "It's strange, but I think I'd like you to be there while I'm working," she tells him. • 71. Critical Analysis Of 'I Am Trying To Break Your Heart' Kevin Young's "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" examines the dark and chaotic nature of trying to heal from emotional damage. Addressing a lover, the speaker uses twisted and macabre diction to describe the dark feelings that brew within him. These sinister desires to harm the lover shine through in the terse language and erratic structure, as well as. The 2008 poem alludes to a Wilco song of the same name, wherein the speaker describes his heartache after leaving his lover and facing regret concerning the situation. This is alluded to in stanzas 12 and 13 when Young writes "... I assassin / down the avenue," (22–23) the second line of the song. Without taking note of this allusion, the poem would seem as if Young is portraying himself as a manipulator seeking to gain power over his lover. But through referencing the 2002 song "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" by Jeff Tweedy, Young clarifies his intent. The poem is meant to illustrate the chaotic and destructive nature of healing from emotional damage, showing how a love lost can leave an individual scarred and vengeful. Young begins the poem by indirectly addressing his lover, saying "I am hoping / to hang your head." This creates a dark tone from the offset, implying that the speaker wants to harm the intended recipient of the poem. He then goes on in the second stanza to say he would hang the lover's head on his wall in shame. This evokes an image of taxidermy, which is meant to objectify and dehumanize the ...
