2. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTE MIGHT PROMOTE YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT?
Casting
Budgeting
A production company plays an extremely important role in the
initial organisation and distribution of a film. This includes being
responsible for raising the money that is needed to fund the
production and finding a suitable director. The production
company also assists in:
Scheduling
Scripting
4. DISTRIBUTION OF OUR FILM
The distributor of a film is a company that is responsible
for the advertisement of a media product to the public
The company that distributes the film is responsible for
the marketing and promotion of the film
The distributor must think of an effective method of how
to distribute the product so it gets to the audience
The distributor also decides how many copies of the film
will be made and then shows it to prospective buyers
(such as cinema owners)
They must also decide on a date of when they will
distribute the production
6. ORDER OF OPENING CREDITS
Credits on a film are usually shown at the beginning and
the end of a film. Normally, the opening credits reveal
the more important crew members of the production
(for example, actor’s and producer’s names)
Closing credits in comparison to opening credits are
much longer than the opening credits as they include
every single crew members and the role they played in
the production
For Our Production, we only included opening credits
(since our film was only a short film). We listed the
production company name, director’s name, camera
person, editor, sound person and cast members.
The usual order is as follows: Director, writers, screenplay,
produced by, music by, cinematography by
8. WHO WOULD DISTRIBUTE
OUR FILM?
For my film, I would go to Film4. The reason as to why I
would chose this film company is because it produces
and distributes films of their own as well as others.
Also, Film4 distributes the films produced by 20th Century
Fox, as they are both owned by Rupert Murdoch,
making it easier for them to be distributed and viewed
by a wider audience.
