How did you attract/address your audience
QUESTION 5
• Firstly our target audience is somewhere between 15 – 25, mainly male and the typical
film goer. As our two characters in this opening sequence are both in this age bracket,
(as are the actors) this would appeal to viewers who are also of this age, as it allows
them to be put in the same situations as the characters in the film. Also they may
sympathise for the protagonist in the film as he is brutally tortured in a section of this
opening sequence.
• Also our two main characters may attract a male audience, as they would want to be
put into their shoes in the tricky situations in our film. Also the action sequence in our
opening sequence may attract a male audience as in my audience research I found that
males liked action and adventure films.
• On the other hand, the fact that our two main characters are both male, may attract a
female audience, however from my audience research I found that females were a lot
less likely to watch thrillers compared to men.
• Another way we attract our audience is the fact that since our target audience is the
typical filmgoer, this means that they may go to the cinema maybe once a month or
once a week, this means they will see a range of different films all of different genres.
They may also enjoy big Hollywood blockbusters as well as smaller independent films.
• Seeing as our film is a small independent one, this may attract a wide range of
audiences, including a smaller niche audience. This may help our film as we have a
very small budget and this sort of audience are more likely to understand this rather
than a mainstream audience who are likely to overlook this.
• Overall we have attracted our audience in a variety of ways, including the fact that our
target audience is the typical filmgoer, and also that they will be mainly male, this
means that our audience will hopefully enjoy our film.
